Server – Yak’s Bend

Selling your stock over the weekend is your best bet.
Best bet or safest bet?

I love and welcome the harder bosses that involve more coordination to defeat them. The only down side is these new boss mechanics come at the expense of time wasted in game to take part in these events(please understand this is merely opinion and PoV). Loot drops and shinies are awesome, wonderful, great…but I enjoy these encounters for the experience and to see what ANet can do with bosses. Loot is a bonus, I don’t care what I get in the end.
I don’t enjoy having to show up hours early to secure my spot. Since that is the nature of how these things go, I only wish it could be improved on but not at the expense of pulling changes like this out of production. I’m all for these new boss mechanics and hope they keep adding them into their cycles.
The only thing I have noticed as a player is that you have guilds who log in hours early and place their toon there to ferry people over. I’m not jealous, I understand this is what happens. I came back to the game a month or so ago and have finished the Tequatl achievements, so I have gotten in(defeated him 2 times in Overflow). I had to make the personal adjustment to accomplish these achievements but I did it. It wasn’t the best experience from a players perspective but it’s not always hugs and rainbows when you want to do something in these games.
Last time I was part of the kill(on my server and not in overflow), I had received enough Karma to get something I had wanted. I left the zone to get it only to hear people in TS advise others to just wait for the next Teq kill, some 2 hours later.
Sure enough, I had already left the zone and wasn’t aware it was like that. I instantly tried to zone back in, but was taken to overflow. To test this, I did map completion for Sparkfly Den to see if a spot opened up, it did not. So there are guilds reserving spots for Teq kills. It won’t last I’m sure but you do need organization to make this kill happen and am glad to see guilds on the map to make the encounter a success…it’s kind of a catch 22.
I, myself, really wouldn’t want to wait 2 hours for all that. There are champs there you can occupy your time with though so it’s not ALL bad. Now that I have gotten the achievements for Teq, I don’t make it an issue to get to Teq. I have tried many times since the last time I downed him, but in 3 weeks, have not made it in, only to overflow.
It’s to the point that I don’t stop what I’m doing to attempt to get in because it’s practically impossible for the average joe. I do try still, mostly for my own testing purposes to see, but never get in. It’s true, guilds do reserve this zone for their own peeps and I guess that’s part of being in a guild. Unfortunately, it sucks for those not in guilds that have dedicated people in these zones.
For the record, I’m not complaining….just illustrating an example and experience I had with Tequatl. I will wait out the Worm too, I’m sure achievements will be involved…but to have these tough bosses and map caps so low, it’s pretty hard to get in with your own server to fight it, especially with all the guesting.
Overflow can be successful tho but well….you know! I say bring on new boss mechanics and the players who really do want to down them will. I will make it some time or another and I applaud any new things ANet adds to these encounters.

Actually your system is just fine.
Before 2 months ago, they removed “CULLING”. This was limiting the amount of player models and graphics your computer would process at one time. The unfortunate part, during WvW, you could be killed in large zergs by players who would never appears; specifically thieves getting extra “stealth”.
The problem resided on ANET’s side. Their client, while it can run on 64-bit windows(through Windows on Windows[WoW]); it is still a 32-bit piece of code. This limits the process to the 3.3GB of memory, but it hits a hard cap. If they released a 64-bit client, this wouldn’t be an issue.
Don’t take this the wrong way…but you just made my day Thank you for posting such a thorough explanation of what the issue stems from. I’ll make the adjustments based on your suggestion and may follow up in a PM to you after the weekend to just let you know the results.
Even if it doesn’t help the issue I’m having, thank you very much for posting a response to me. I sincerely appreciate your help. Take care!
You are running out of memory. The process is still 32-bit and will max out around 3.3GB, which you appear to be hitting. I would turn down some of the graphics settings.
Sample rate to “native”, reflections to “terrain/sky”, model limits to medium.
You may be right about that. I wasn’t certain which settings to turn down and notice it doesn’t happen when turned down to “Best Performance” but thanks for pointing me to individual settings to try. I don’t want to run “Best Performance” and I was hoping for a response like this to at least attempt.
Shame, this never happened when I first played this game. Only since I came back 2 months ago….guess my computer of 2 years is getting old(lame lol)

Can close this thread, I see up top how to submit a report correctly and will be doing it that way. Thanks.
Just looking for anyone to shed any insight on why I have started to crash to the desktop while playing Guild Wars 2. I am attaching the running log because I noticed that both crashes had a few different parts in the —> Error Logs <— section.
I’ve tried repairing the client and even reinstalled the game. Anyone have something I could try? Thanks in advance.
(edited by Nodo.6907)
I DC too, but only in large zergs or at world bosses such as Teq. It is very frustrating that I continue to lose rewards and achievements and ANET does not do anything about the reports I submit. I guess they do not care that we are being robbed of our gaming enjoyment.
Not home at the moment but I am also experiencing crashes during heavy zergs or dynamic events like Jormag. Pretty disappointing since it never used to do this. I decided to return to the game almost 2 months ago now and this is the constant problem I am facing. I’m staying optimistic because the game still feels new to me but if the problem persists through Season 2 of WvWvW, I will probably just uninstall.
Being on T1 server for WvWvW, the Q times can take hours during the season. I know it says Anet is getting my email regarding the crash but some how I doubt it. I’ll post the crash report here when I get home. Maybe someone has an idea?
I’ve tried all the remedies I can think of, reinstall game, patch, repair, blah blah and it still does this randomly. From what I’ve looked through, this began happening a while back to players and continues to happen with no fix available. No other games or software crashes my PC to desktop, only GW2.

I re-rolled to a race I wanted but at the time, I was not heavily invested in my lvl 80. Now, it would definitely not be something I would want to do(re-rolling just for race I mean). As for price? At this time, I still would not consider paying to change my race.
The only way I’d consider a race change would be if they introduced a new race to the game that was not available in the beginning. I see no issue with race changes despite what some would say about how it affects the story and blah blah. I, for one, would probably still not pay for one though.
I would preferably want to stay on the server where most of our members would come from, if not, my server: Ruins of Surmia
Okay, I was curious simply because I am not sure which servers are EU and which are NA every time I read one. I play and have been on Blackgate since the beginning which is NA.
So this is EU then, right?
Curious….what home server will this guild be located on?

Try posting in LFG with:
LF Slow/casual run or some variation of it.Don’t join other people’s group unless they say the same because a majority of people in LFG just want to finish the dungeon as quickly as possible so they can do more with their time.
It’s also probably better to join a run with your guild/friends etc. because random people you’ve never met probably just came for the loot/run.
This is the right idea but doesn’t ALWAYS work. I joined a group advertising “noob friendly, casual run”. Group started off fine but once the group hit a wall and people wanted/needed to leave…non-casuals ended up joining and started having people kicked until in the end they left themselves.
LFG tool is great but it doesn’t always get the people you want. Just have to keep trying and work on making friends with the people that do join it so you can form your own group in the future without the LFG tool.
Yes, would love to see this part of the game reworked.

I’m not a member of the guild I am going to link to you but the GM did post in a thread to me when I posted looking for a myself guild and they love Quaggans like you
They do seem like they would be fun to join but unfortunately for you, they are on Blackgate. You could guest and speak with them though I would think. Maybe give them a look http://www.coostorybro.com/
Hope they don’t mind I plugged them like that, best of luck to you in your search.

I just wanted to update this thread to say thanks to the both of you for the response. Ciucan, your guild looks and “reads” pretty perfect. I’ve checked out your site and forums and even though you all are having a lapse in absence due to holidays, this is normal and you all will pull through if you keep doing what you are doing. You all appear to be open and honest with your guild and I respect that. Unfortunately, you all are on Piken Square. I know that you all accept guesting, and I could guest over there from time to time, but just so you know… I would never make the move permanent as I love Blackgate. It is my home server and have been on it since the beginning(even though I haven’t been super active until as of late). I’m a new player with just a little dungeon experience myself. I could see myself grouping for dungeons with you all if you needed an extra person while helping others especially during this downtime you all are going through currently…would be sooo cool if you guys were on Blackgate. I think your guild gives off a nice vibe and I have only read a few of your posts so keep it up!
@EvilDuckling, your guild looks very good too and I did add you to my friends list the day you posted here but have only seen you on one time since running fractals and it was semi-late for me(I’m on cst) considering I have to go to this stupid thing the world calls “work”. Time zones aren’t a big issue on weekends but I think you all may play later than me during the week tbh. You all have an impressive website and seem very funny. I will keep you all in mind moving forward though. I actually did see a Coo member(did not recognize their name from your site) at SB over the weekend. A very chatty individual I will say lol. At first they appeared to be trolling a new guy asking questions about SB but in the end they did help him and I believe they were just attempting to be funny towards the player. That kind of stuff happens when everyone is waiting around for a spawn though
I’m still looking for something that fits me and what I am wanting for the time being. I do not mind to stay solo as a lot of this game can be done in that fashion. I have a friend I do play with regularly and do a lot of WvWvW with his guild so I’m not completely alone! As it stands now, I do intend to join his WvWvW guild but they do not participate in other activities(dungeons or fractals or anything outside of WvWvW) from what he tells me. However, I still think there are others out there just looking for more people to play with in general, that are active as well, to fill positions for personal progression/enjoyment and I am happy to be that guy once I find you!
(edited by Nodo.6907)
I’ve seen 1-3 in Frostgorge Sound and one in Kessex I believe. Two days in a row the one at Frostgorge has been in the same location. It was pretty close to the dungeon. I have seen them while out scavenging mats.

As a newer player to WvWvW, being in TS for our server has already helped me become a better player. I found my initial confusion about WvWvW would be clarified as I went with the commanders and their guilds on organized runs.
Our commanders seem to really care about our community and are very helpful to those listening. I don’t even speak, I do still listen to music, I just mute my mic just in case. I appreciate the time they are giving to everyone by staying tagged up and making WvWvW more organized and thought I’d give it a shot even though I was skeptic about joining it at first too.
Saying the same things… I’d rather listen to music or I don’t wanna hear chatter while playing the game and/or I know what to do… follow blue tag and live blah blah, etc.
I went from dying constantly to just once in a blue moon simply because I know when we are moving as a group and when to finish off the stragglers etc. With that said so far, I can see why “experienced” players may not want to join the TS server. They already know what is expected of them and that works for them. I just find fun times in TS on our server. What encouraged me to jump into TS as a new player?
Persistence of the commanders on our server. They casually suggest it, no chat lashing or trolling, just good ol’ fun and strats along with scout discussions. It is my personal opinion that my servers TS MAKES WvWvW more fun to me.
If I am roaming then odds are I won’t jump in, but even then it’s nice to know which way the opposing server zergs are moving so I can plan my roam accordingly. There is a lot of good in TS. I realize there is a lot of bad and so far have only come across 1 commander I had to leave TS on but he was still doing well at commanding, it was just too late for me to deal with his mannerisms
Point being, keep trying with your servers strays, some will listen(not all ofc). Getting verified “seems” like the most annoying part but I totally agree with it and if your server has good admins then it is easily done.

Awesome replies, thanks for all the help. Last night was first night back so I just did the new event and entered some WvWvW and realized how truly lost I felt after months of not playing. Will take me a little to get comfortable again and these guides definitely help.
Thank you very much Max! I will read over this guide tonight and work on applying some of it to my game as I begin to work on improving my character. Seriously, much appreciated!
Without going into much detail, I have a lvl 80 Mesmer. I am a return player and have not played him in a long time and would like to get involved in some dungeons(never actually ran one single dungeon).
Having said that, would anyone care to share or link some information on Mesmer roles in dungeons? Please take into account all information would help me as I have no experience in dungeons whatsoever and basically don’t want to be “that guy”. I have experience in other games and understand what it’s like to be teamed up with someone like me I also realize that everyone has to start somewhere.
I’d like to work on dungeon runs for improving my character without bringing down any team that I am put on. I see many people discussing running in zerker gear and/or using specific team utility abilities but outside of that, I am feeling a little lost.
Thanks in advance!
Just for clarification, you are on Blackgate and NOT on Henge of Denravi? I am on Blackgate as well and that is why I ask.
I am relatively new(been playing for about 2 months maybe), never ran a single dungeon. My character is a level 80 mesmer and I have been working on exotic gear for the WvWvW environment because I did not expect to run dungeons in this game when I first began.
I’d be interested in your guild and love the concept behind it. I will check out your forums and see if I can find the answer to my original question but in reading the post I got confused. Good luck to you all!
EDIT: I see you just recently moved so I found my answer!
(edited by Nodo.6907)
Although we are on different servers, I wanted to give you guys a quick bump. Seems like all the guilds that interest me are on different servers.
Oh well!! Good luck to you all!
Not that it is a requirement on my end, but does your guild have a website for viewing? Again, not a deal breaker as it’s fine if you don’t(some people put a lot of emphasis on things like this) and if not I can send you some questions in a PM. Thanks!
EDIT: Nvm, I found it
(edited by Nodo.6907)
I will definitely keep this in mind. Thanks again!
Aww too bad your on blackgate. You sound like the perfect sort for Forbidden. If you change your mind and want to consider transferring to another server lemme know
Good luck on your search and the guild you finally decide on will be lucky to have you
Thanks for the kind words. My situation is kind of 50-50 tbh. I came to this game with a few friends but I don’t really see us all syncing up to do much together except run some WvWvW on the weekends here and there. This is great and really what I was hoping for when I first told them to try the game. However, during the rest of the week it’s somewhat dormant as I have a little more free time than they do. I’d really like to balance both friends and guild activities for an overall fun experience.
Heck, it seems that server xfers have closed down except without a cost. (I think I remember, in the beginning, being able to go around a bit to see where one wanted to stay) I came back to experience this game once it had been out for a while only to see that I am on Blackgate for the long haul…at least for now I really thought I was on Darkhaven but it was months ago when I chose.
Again, thanks for your kind words and if I do decide to take it elsewhere, I’ll definitely consider your guild From searching through some posts, it appears you all are fairly democratic in your decisions on the guild and that is pretty cool. I see that you like to take the time to work with your members and that is very respectable.
I have received a few PMs and look forward to a few more before reaching out to contact a few potential guilds. Thanks to everyone who views this thread and takes the time to contact me.

Hello all,
I am a new player to this game and am looking to expand my experience. I bought this game when it first released but did not get into it due to my attention being spanned across a few other games. However, in the past month I have leveled up a toon to 80 and am looking to get more involved with what this game has to offer.
I reside on the Blackgate server and really enjoy the community there so far, at least I don’t see much “trolling” in general chat and many people help others in general chat, and hope to stay there. I came into this game with a friend, and he is in a guild currently, but I was hoping to find something on my own as he is comfortable there in a guild of 500+. I do not require the guild to be large, just that there is some activity going on guild wise whether it be dungeons, wvwvw, or whatever else this game can offer groups. I mean I did Super Adventure Box last night and had a blast but couldn’t help but think it would be a lot of fun with 4 other players I had some synergy with.
I don’t mind soloing most things and have done just that up until this point but decided I would try to find some others like myself. Maybe I’ll find some out there who are also new and looking to experience some dungeons and things like that. I’d be happy to work with others on learning/experiencing the dungeons but if there are some experienced players who are not hard on new comers I’d be up for those groups as well.
I’m trying to avoid any serious to hard-core guilds that take death in PvX to heart. I am also trying to avoid groups/guilds that look down upon working with new players. I do not want to log in to DRAMA. While I am a avid gamer and dedicated to the games I play, I don’t have much tolerance for ignorant players and actions towards others. Just looking for respectful players like myself.
I’m cool with 100% representation and don’t mind being on the mic if running group activities. I even have my own TS3 server so it’s whatever to me. I’m looking for an older/mature crowd that likes to have fun in game, basically what it comes down too. I am looking to run dungeons and the like in the end but will need to work with others to better prepare for successful runs. I currently play a Mesmer and will be focusing solely on this toon for quite some time.
I am 29 years old, work full time and am on most evenings and weekends. If interested in a player who has past raid experience, just not in this game, and can learn things once shown/taught/explained, then send me a PM. I look forward to joining up with a group out there to enjoy Guild Wars 2!
Cheers!
I will self-advertise my text-guides (http://guildwars.incgamers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?244-Guild-Wars-2-PvE).
Most importantly, I have listed abilities of bosses and some enemies (accuracy varies on different paths, but I’m working on it!).
Thanks for taking the time out to post this. I will look at them when it comes time for me to start trying out the dungeons!
I bought this game when it first came out and did not take to it at first. I got a Necro to lvl 50 and did not enjoy it as much as the game I was playing at the time and could not hold my interest here.
In the past month I have come back to give this game another chance and am really glad that I did. Having said all of that, I just wanted to let it be known that newbies DO read some of the forums. At least the newbies, like myself, that really take to a game. Maybe it’s the fact that I enjoy discussing the games I am playing with others but I do check forums when I am learning a game. BTW, this is my first post…
I have yet to do a dungeon and I’ll be honest, I am semi-put off by trying to after reading various things online and some other threads but I know it is only a matter of time before I have to just dive into them. I am a completionist at heart and feel that in order to get the most out of a game, one should try to experience it all and decide whether or not he/she likes the activities provided.
I think I will take well to dungeons but at this point in time I am completely new to them. I’ve hit 80 on my mesmer this month and am now working on world completion and understanding different acronyms and playstyles of this one particular class. Once I have a better knowledge base of what I can do and what people will expect of me in a dungeon, I will attempt one. I have raided in other games in the past and enjoy it but there are also many experiences that I can refer to when my experience was not so pleasant. Right now, I am just hesitant to try any dungeon.
I know joining a guild is the way to go about it but I don’t find comfort in guilds that recruit so heavily that you are just another body in their Influence grind. While I do understand why this is the way it goes, I have a hard time signing up for these types of guilds. Hopefully I will find some other players on my server that are just like me and are willing to learn together or don’t care to show people what’s what in this game. I came back to this game with a friend who also wanted to try it but he doesn’t over think the guild thing like I do and he just joined some 500+ guild. He has gone on a few dungeon runs himself and loves it, he is also a newbie I know I could partake in that as well but for now I am trying to learn about my class and how to best perform first so that I am more comfortable and confident when it comes to being on other people’s time. Again, I’ve raided in the past and know how it can be with some folks so I really don’t want to be the guy that is holding others back or wasting their time…
Anyways, I just wanted to post from a newbies PoV and wanted to say “thanks” to all of you in this thread that have shared your experiences and knowledge. I find these forums MUCH better than the other game I currently/casually play nowadays.
Cheers!
