I could enrage because of the animation bug.
Please keep my thread in the bugs section updated and post your concerns so that devs realize that this is an important matter for us: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/6-months-for-nothing-final-rest-bug
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Thanks, even if I can see what i need to see on my screenshot :P
But anyways, yours should make things clearer.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Animation is bugged for necromancers. Fix needed asap as im gonna destroy something at home otherwise :P
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
17. It’s 17 on the TP. In less than 12 hours.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
You know, it’s something like a story with a very bad ending.
It’s like a storytale where a heroic warrior was on his journey to find the holy grail, was killing thousands and thousands of enemies, solving puzzles and riddles, defeating his foes and then went to buy the grail on wallmart.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Awesome. Final Rest is 75g on TP now.
ArenaNet? I see what you did here. I see you had a good intention by doing this, but I have to seriously say: You f’ed it up!
Anyways, it’s a good looking staff. I’m just kitten because the rarity is gone. I think I have to stay with my “The Crossing” then.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
It depends on how much the increased drop rate and loot qualification will affect precursor drop rates. If not or not much, prices will drop.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Legendaries look stupid. Especially for necromancers. I do have that lantern from halloween which is pretty rare on my server, but final rest was the ultimate item for me. Now it’s junk.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Nice. Now the Staff is worth like nothing. Everyone will have it in the future – one night 4 5 drops in TP? Seriously. What the hell.
Fix it ArenaNet. Fix this one really rare item in game.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
I just did. It doesn’t.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
There is a patch coming soon. I bet they fix our plague signet that’s doing literaly nothing since beta.
Haha, just kidding, they won’t.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Let me rephrase the first posting in this thread:
“Bla bla bla precursors are fine because I got one and you don’t so stop crying and buy mine for 600gold bla bla.”
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
1) A-net has flat out stated that accounts are not flagged for ‘bad loot’ or any such nonsense.
2) A-net has stated that they want the mystic forge to vacuum crafted goods out of the economy as a means of keeping supply of crafted goods in balance over time, else crafted goods would pile up to the point of being worthless. That is why they want us hucking hundreds of rares in the MF.
3) A-net has also said that the best chance of getting a precursor is not from hucking rares into the forge, but rather from hucking exotics in the community. If the community insists on using a sub-optimal method, who is making the intelligent choice here?
4) Please stop with the conspiracy theory of: “A-net lets us convert $$ – > Gold via gems so we are forced to do that to buy high end items, etc, etc, etc.” A-net realized long ago that people want to convert Real World Money to In Game Money, and have used non-sanctioned methods of doing so for years. Rather than allow that toxin to polute their game to an obscene extent, they have created a vehicle to do so legitametely. Yes, some people will use this vehicle to get end game items, but the end game is not balanced around this vehicle.
Without a source provided, at least 3) sounds like you made it up.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
I hereby bump this thread. Note that there actually are like 5 more threads in this forum that topic precursors in addition to the ones listed in my first posting.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
and on my experience, when i started salvaging rares and exotics with crude salvage kits, at least in the begining, i got more eectos from them than when i used master salvage kits, i so stopped bothering using them
but this is something i dont think we’ll ever agree on from both sides
maybe because random is random.
How long ago though? You know the master and BL salvage kits used to have the same chance to drop rares and then they boosted the BL salvage kit?
Which is, as far as I remember, wrong because there was a display bug but no functionality bug.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
on Miller’s Sound [DE] the Penitent Waypoint construction event is bugged, causing an uncountable amount of mobs to spawn. They all drop T6 mats, T5 mats etc. – this will be causing a lot trouble on the market. We immediately need a zone reset over here!
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Have you noticed that the Zho’qafa catacombs actually look like Final Rest? Flip it by 90° clockwise and you’ll notice. Also, there is a lot of coffins in those ruins. I think we got it, but we can only be sure as soon as one drops.
I hope we can gather more information about the event chain of Zho’qafa in here. I personally have never seen it before, so I dunno how to start it etc. Anyone?
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
I was wondering if we maybe could get a response from ANet in here. Something like “yeah you’re right, we’ll do that asap” or even “GW2 is all about grind and RNG, live with it”.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
I would be perfectly fine if the precursor was collectable by doing WvW, dungeons, map completion or what ever. Right now you can only get it by gambling or using the trading post. I won’t talk about the luck to get a precursor from one of the chests or mobs in the game, as this chance is like 0,00000000000001% or something.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
I just stepped by to clarify some things. I can afford a precursor, but I’m not willing to pay that huge amount of gold for one item. Why? Because it just doesn’t feel right. We are supposed to get a legendary item. Legendary. Le-gen-da-ry. What’s legendary about gambling or buying one of the ingredients in the trading post? Nothing.
Another thing is the chance to get a precursor. Yes, I think it’s to low. Why? The reason’s pretty easy: IF we are supposed to gamble for one of the main ingredients of a legendary weapon (which, as you can read above, is stupid and not legendary at all), the chance should be higher. It’s just frustrating to actually play the game, play all faccetts of the game, and then to dump everything you have into the mystic toilet. It’s frustrating, nothing else, so I won’t do that.
There should be a scavanger hunt or a quest chain or something that grants the legendary precursor to you. A “precursor”, as the name states, should be some kind of the beginning of the path you have to walk in order to achieve something legendary. It shouldn’t be the main blocking factor. Of course, you can buy all those mats of the TP, but that’s something different. Those are standard materials used for many things and they can stay as they are.
The precursors are the main problem, and we, the community, deserve a different way to get them. Of course, I may not be speaking for every player in the game, but I think that many ppl think the same. Many of those don’t actively use the forums, that’s why I created this thread.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
As stated before, this thread is not intended to give a platform to discuss the precursor situation. We have plenty of other threads for that.
I’ve not seen a statement where it’s been said that scavanger hunt and/or other methods aren’t on track for Feb/March patches.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
That was a month ago. In terms of a game that is on the market for about 5 months, that’s like a decade.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
This is a summary of threads currently going on in this particular subforum about precursors and/or legendaries.

Maybe someone responds to all those threads (and all those in different subforums, maybe check the BLTC section?) and those that are not on the first 3 pages and thus aren’t shown in my list.
Official statement appreciated. This issue has to be addressed.
Actual questions:
- Is the precursor scavanger hunt still a topic being addressed?
- Will there be a change to the situation in february patch?
- Is the way to get precursors as it is right now working as intended?
inb4 I want to say that this thread is not about a discussion whether precursors are fine or not. We have a couple of threads about that discussion already. This thread is meant to show the community’s call for help to the devs and to make sure that this important topic isn’t forgotten.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
I am definitely working on the precursor scavenger hunt, but like others have said, things like this take time and I want to get it right. Not to mention, it’s not the only thing on my plate. Please do not expect to see the precursor scavenger hunt in the next patch. I may be awesome, but I am still only human and this is a fairly large amount of work to get done and done right. Please be patient!
Any news?
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
My answer would be Tetris as it was the only perfect balanced game I’ve ever seen. I get your point while I also guess you misunderstood me. Of course, GW2 came out 6 months ago. That makes those 2months look pretty short in comparison. I also hope that the polishing will make this great game even better, but in the mean time it’s about grind, grind, grind or playing the TP.
I think it is also important that enough people complain about those facts in the forums. I also think that it is more important to fix bugs and get your hands on broken things, mechanics or design principles than to implement new events every 2 weeks or so. But that is my personal thinking about priorities and I guess it won’t affect the devs’.
But I guess we’re a bit off topic right now.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Excuse me, but where exactly is that scavanger hunt information from? It’s 2 months ago that a dev stated something like that was in development, do you really think it’s coming “soon”?
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
I think i kinda lost track of what happened to my thread. I don’t want to rephrase everything that has been said or try to understand some of the more economical things discussed in this thread.
Maybe my usage of words was incorrect. Maybe some of my assumptions were incorrect. Maybe most of the arguments I said were incorrect. I’m no specialist, I’m just trying to talk about what is a big deal to many ppl I know and – of course – to me.
The basic idea of this thread was correct tho. “Casual” or “not 24/7 grinding events and playing the TP” players will never get a legendary due to the precursor.
That’s exactly it. You can read up about that in a lot of threads in this forum. I think I can’t be that incorrect with that statement.

After leaving your Death Shroud, your skills will be blocked for about 0.5-1sec. This is destroying a vital part of the necromancer play which is, to be honest, hard enough.
Fix needed asap.
Reproducable: 100%
Since when: Last patch
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Agony resistance is not applied to necromancers in their death shroud. You’ll always get hit like a truck, no matter your AR. I was in lvl22 with 25AR and my death shroud was nearly a oneshot to agony on the jade maw boss. This has to be fixed as it destroys a vital function of death shroud to us necromancers.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Is this tool also usable for EU (different trading post)?
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Things have to even out, this will take a while. Ancient bones have been very common and thus low priced. As the drop rate of other T6 mats has been increased and the drop rate of ancient bones has been decreased, prices will even out in a while. It just takes time. If you plan to buy or sell ancient bones, just wait a while.

Dear John,
while I appreciate that you jumped in our discussion, I am a bit disappointed that your only comment was about the definition of inflation. If you had a look at the completed transactions for t5/t6 materials, ectos, bufffood and ingredients in the most common/most used bufffoods, you’d noticed that those prices went up by a lot in the last 4-8 weeks. I think ‘inflation’ kind of is the right word to describe such a situation.
Even if not, I don’t want to discuss the definition of a word. I want to discuss the main point of my first post in this thread: (casual) players don’t really earn money as prices go up and up. They will NEVER get a legendary as the precursor is the blocking factor.
Those two points are what i wanted to discuss.
Ah and by the way: I think that orders are a good indicator for inflation and that there actually is no need to view the completed transactions as orders are always “close around” completed transaction prices. gw2spidy’s data is the best available and it’s not bad.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
There once was a recipe for the mystic forge where you were able to dump 2 lvl65 weapons and 2 yellow lvl80s to guaranteed get a precursor. People used that a lot, there are screenshots on the internet with guys having 700+ gold and a full inventory of precursors. While some of those may be faked you were able to notice that a lot of those screenshots were published at a specific time which points towards a real possibility. ArenaNet didn’t ban them and also didn’t delete the items. While more items will lower the prices, prices didn’t drop. Why? Because those people won’t sell 100 precursors within a short time as it would make them look suspicious.
Botters generated a lot of money that is around now because of people who actually bought it. Inflation in online games will occur if more money is generated than spent on NPCs. What do you pay NPCs for? Repairing your gear, teleporting somewhere or by buying cultural armor pieces. This is a very small portion of the money that has been generated and that is currently generated that “leaves the system” in this way. We thus will have and already have inflation that will become worse, but this is another point.
tl;dr: to much money in the system, precursors were cheap as hell for exploiters. Normal players will never get a legendary as the precursor blocks them from getting one.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Hey Apolyon, thanks for your statement about casuality and legendaries. 5-6g per day was a rough estimation as I don’t know about that for sure. I thought it was a realistic value, but maybe it’s lower.
What you said about your gold-tactics is absolutely right. Gold’s value will decrease due to inflation while items’ values will increase/keep up with the “real” value that’s behind it. I think that’s the best option you have: invest your money.
Although I personally think that not banning exploiters, waiting to long with botters etc. is the worst decision ArenaNet could have done in such an open, non-restricted market.
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
I think it’s fair to judge inflation on the items that are worth to think about in end game. Maybe the precursor example is a bit limiting, but it’s the best example for what i meant to say
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Inflation is a big deal in GW2 as it destroys the chance of “not so active” players to ever achieve something great. Of course, hard work should be rewarded and legendaries should never be for free or easy to acquire. But have you seen precursor prices? Don’t get me wrong, I wear a full T3-cultural armor, have nearly every color in game and a 150g staff skin etc. I’m fine, I totally am. But have you ever thought about why precursor prices and basicly all other prices are going up and up? It’s called inflation – your money is losing worth every single day. And this inflation is based on exploiting and botters.
Let’s have a look at a casual normal player spending 2-3hours per day on GW2. If he’s doing some instances and/or fractals, he might get up to 5-6g per day (let’s not talk about how boring instances and/or fractals are in the long term). By having a look on the prices and how they evolve, that’s no earnings. This player is playing for the inflationary compensation. He’ll nearly never be able to get a legendary if he doesn’t exploit.
ArenaNet, why don’t you ban those precursor-lvl65-grawl-exploiters? Why don’t you delete those items? Why don’t you bind legendaries on account? Why don’t you do something about the market you created and that’s falling into pieces?
If you don’t care about inflation and such, I’m fine. But if you do, do something before it’s to late – time’s running.

Some people in some threads said that your fractal difficulty rank would reset weekly. However, they have not stated any kind of source for that.
Official answer would be could. Would hate having your rank reset.

Very nice video that is bringing up some questions:
what’s your spec? I suppose 30/10/0/0/30? Are you using the 20%-axe-trait?
I was thinking about 20/20/0/0/30 to have wells being ground targeted for WvW. Bad thing is that this makes an axe as mainhand pretty useless. Was thinking about using a dagger instead. What do you think?

One of the most difficult things to acquire while trying to get a legendary weapon are obsidian shards. Why is that? Because the temple of balthazar is a rather difficult event (in comparison to other events like grenth, dwayna of lyssa) in a zone that is not crowded with players at all. In addition to that, the temple event is bugged a lot which is giving us only a short time frame after each server restart to buy the prescious obsidian shards.
In my opinion, obsidian shards should be bound to a different event. I wasnt able to find a story based reason why they’re only buyable at the balthazar event. Wouldn’t it be better to be able to buy them at any god’s altar after completing the event? This would make us feel happier about them because we wouldn’t have to wait a week or two after a server restart until the event is actually doable (due to bugs and such).

I really would like to know when the patch that has been scheduled for today will arive. Any information on that? Wasn’t able to find a precise time in the forums, maybe some of you did?
[NO] ~ Ponys Will Never Die
Okay, so you’re saying that you deal the highest damage in game, have the highest survivability (well okay, guardians…let’s not talk about them, it’s what they’re made for i guess), buffing and control and still say you’re going down like flies in dungeons?
Ever thought about it not being the classes but the player’s fault? No offense here, but i know warriors that don’t go down in dungeons that often. And by the way, their ranged options are pretty fair.
