Honestly as the meta is evolving from the Dec.10th patch elementalist has found its place in Tpvp and that is heavy AoE burst, and they are the best at it. They can change a team-fight completely, more so than a warrior (Not counting banner res, which is a whole different topic) With 5k meteor shower and a 3k lava font ticking at everyone’s feet.
As for PU Mesmer, this build is perfectly balanced around the point-capture game type, with their survivability around stealth and invulnerability they can’t cap anything and are therefore not providing anything to their team. (And keep in mind that this game is balanced around team fights and point capture)
Lastly, Warrior, this class can use some MINOR tweaking, but not as much as people say. Healing signet needs to scale better with healing power to allow bunk specs to be effective, but not give a full zerker spec 400 regen. Berserkser stance needs to be reduced by one or two seconds and endure pain needs to be less prevalent.
I understand that you may be frustrated with balance in SoloQ and 1v1s, but for organized Tpvp the game is pretty balanced and every class has a role, with weaknesses and strengths. There will always be hard counters and that’s something that people need to remember “Your class should not be able to 1v1 everything, and you SHOULD die, this does not make the game un-balanced”
On a side note, the only real broken class is Minionmancer Necro, this spec does have counters but the sheer amount of AI and clutter makes it bad for the game as a whole.
Some people just want a quick run to get their gold and tokens, and don’t want to teach a class of dungeon 101. If you are an up-lvl start your own LFG or join a “Exp anyone welcome” group.
Just a quick question, and that is why do engineers kits have 0 recharge, but elementalists attunements and conjure weapons have a recharge (cool down)? They both seem to have the same use/effect as well as CDs on the skills themselves (Like grenade 4 will go on cool-down and RTL will go on cooldown)
I would suggest a staff/s/p hybrid spec, here is a link to the build http://tinyurl.com/p8b3orz You can use runes of speed over runes of the traveler if you don’t have an abundance of gold, as well, you can swap out the rampager’s for zerker if you feel that you need more damage. This build is about shattering for your big numbers and keeping up condi pressure while you are waiting on your CDs
The staff is a very good counter to thiefs with # 1 and 5
My usual rotation is to cast staff 5 on them, dodge, use Mirror images, shatter, staff 2 and s/p 4-5 rinse and repeat. Its a very generic build but it does the job, I would also suggest looking into the blackwater mesmer build, its quite OP in a 1v1.

Although, I dont how someone doesnt have >30min over the course of 2-4 weeks to do 1 story mission.
And if you want to do all of the dungeons that have been added, take an hour or two on a weekend to run a level 1 fractal and roll for the molten facility and aetherblade retreat

I am currently running a s/p staff~20-20-0-0-30~hybrid build. It has a bit of cheese but can really bring a lot to a team, you can run it with rampagers or berserkers ammy depending on your preferred play style, here is a link to the build.

Skyhammer is not that bad, sure there are some cheap pulls, but its a decent map. But imo, spiritwatch is the map that needs looked at, with a warrior who can passively out-regen 2+people and have great mobility, it carries a team.
Elementalist in the right hands can bring an AMAZING amount to a team, rather it be a d/d or s/d FGS roaming spec, getting to points in SECONDS or Changing a mid-fight on a full-zerks Staff build with great CCs, great damage, group heals and condi clear.
The real issue lies within how the game is designed and how really in-experienced most players are. Ele takes more effort than 80% of the meta classes. Going through 1-5 on engineers kits or giving 5 stacks of torment and 25 stacks of bleeding on condi war while having passive regen is NOT something that elementalist have and can create the illusion of real skill in players.
So I get your statement somewhat, elementalist is not for everyone and has no crutch that a bad player can lean on which can make them useless. BUT in the hands of a skilled player elementalist can bring a LOT to a team. (see first paragraph)
This is something Anet really needs to put into consideration with balancing this class. Either give them a crutch or remove the other classes’ crutches. (Healing signet, Signet of spite, bleeds on the SB 1 skill, Low cooldown AoE condition skills i.e. nades, And the list goes on and on.)
The issue is skill, not the class itself. (and don’t quote just that! :P)
I would really like to know what would make the fall of Abbadon any better? They both have INSANE potential, with thauminova being linked to scarlet and the elder dragons through time warps. And Abbadon could have been an amazing experience to see a god. But fractals are a fight through mobs to a boss in the spam of 10-20min. I would rather them mess up a small reactor explosion than a fight with a god. The same amount of work would have went into both.

Yeah, I soloed it on my ele without the toxic heal, it was not even remotely challenging .-.

I am loving these changes, and hope that they will bring ele back into the meta ^-^. One suggestion would be to keep renewing stamina In the adept tier, it is almost necessary to keep an ele alive unless you are going full bunker.
Also, One with air Should be increased to 2-3 seconds and moved up to master tier and be replaced with a new trait to reduce Ride the lightning to 25-30 seconds? I feel like this would really give an option to less defensive builds. Because our mobility is almost matched by warrior and thief. And that is not very good considering that we are the squishiest class in the game.
Thanks for the very educated answer, luper. Now I 100% agree with you, and if not bring back the old sounds, why not try new one? New sounds make skills seem so refreshing. After hearing the thief dagger auto attack or cluster bomb 1,000,000 times it is getting a bit old

To start off, I love this game and its mechanics and I am here to offer some helpful criticism and hear what all of you angry forumers think! ^-^ Spvp is lacking in SO many ways, balance, rewards, leader boards, match ups. Just about everything, and Anet says that they are “working on it” and things will be “fixed” and “they are looking into it”. But the only thing we have got are some new maps that are not even used for tpvp and “balance” patches. And Pvpers are leaving every day! Making the community smaller and smaller. They are losing big pvpers that help bring in new players like SirKoroshi and Teldoo.
Here are some of my ideas to making pvp in this game better and exciting to players.
Balance: Have a OPEN discussion on what players think should be nerfed/un-nerfed. Because almost all of the classes sub-forums have complaints about nerfs and un-nerfs and things that would make a class viable. This would only be a good thing if DEVS REPLIED ON WHAT THEY THOUGHT ABOUT THE IDEAS. Now they don’t have to respond to every idea, but the more popular, thought out ones. ( And I have had to stop playing my ele because a ~100 heal every time I cast a skill is < a passive 600+ heal)
Leader Boards: Leader boards are extremely broken, with a player who has played 20 games being #1. As well, you cant even see the leader boards in-game, so many players don’t have any idea where they are at in terms of ranking.
Rewards: I know that they are working on an overhaul of the current reward system, but could we get some updates or plans on what is being done? Something, even the slightest, most generic thing would be that little sliver of hope that players could grab on too. AND PVERS FARMING RANK 40+ IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS IS JUST SAD.
Match ups: Now, I know the pvp community is not large so match ups are not going to be the most fair. But the afk rate is INSANE making almost half the games I play 100% un-fair. 4v5 is gonna happen but 0v5 is just disgusting. Maybe make a ready button before the game puts 2 teams together? I know that this would lengthen ques but I would rather have a 5v5 with a 5 minute que than a 5 v x with a 2 minute que.

TL;DR Pvp is broken and FAR from becoming a big e-sport. But this game has EXTREME potential with its mechanics.

It seems like all of these people are trying to roam with a staff :P. But Honestly, any class that can move fast is a fine choice. You are mixed in with Pros with full ascended and lvl 1 noobs. Either way you are going to win and lose some fights no matter what profession you play. Now, ele has a much higher skill cap than ranger atm so that is a variable. But if you are running certain builds, you can 1 shot a unsuspecting player, mist stop, and RTL out of there in seconds.

I agree on most of the points, as well, the warrior can have a 900 passive heal. Witch is outrageous, considering it takes up 0 time and nulls most of our damage. Where as we need to swap attunements, dodge, press 5 and 2. And possibly cast a heal. All while the war is regening most of its health AND dpsing the hell out of us. (Thats balance folks!)
I would change out glyph of elemental power for…something useful like arcane shield or arcane blast for the blast finisher. As for the celestial armor, honestly its not very good and you could be doing more damage or healing if you had a more specific set of gear.
Ele’s are perfectly fine in PvE. It’s WvW that is the source of a lot of issues.

It actually is. Even Phantaram stopped playing ele. The low HP that we have doesn’t help us in the condition spam meta. If an ele goes burst they need support from someone or they’ll die. S/D thieves are simply better for that role.
That is for high-level pvp. Eles are fine in the condi meta, they have insane condi clear and cant be bursted very easily with shocking aura.
For ele I run berserker D/D and do WvW solo roaming and fractals. The class takes time to get used to, but once you get the hang of it you can breeze through pve and most pvp players. Honestly, just run a berserker cantrip build with s/d or d/d and jump right in. You cant pick up the class and faceroll like a warr.
Another tip, eles heals are like a thief’s stealth, they make up for the the class being so squishy.
Why on tyria would they spend time developing this? When they could be doing something use full.

First off, try and do a little bit of Spvp it wont hurt you. Make sure you are using a Pvp build and play style. This is a PvP zone and people are going to PvP, so most of them are not going to leave you alone. As for theifs, the best way to learn to counter a class is to play it, so get yourself familiarized with their skills and such and figure out the best counters. And just a tip, most roamers don’t like “PvEers who are just going for map completion”
Like the title says, whenever I go to create a char after about 5min the screen goes black and I have to hard reset.
Have been looking around and cant seem to find any post-patch builds for condi.
There will be new craft-able weapons and maybe armor in the upcoming patches, doing with the quarts.

Why do minis go so slow that you cant even see them unless you are not walking?
This could easily me changed my giving them the same speed or coding as ranger pets.
I just want to know what the person who was designing them was thinking?
I am an aspiring commander and don’t want to grind/ask for donations to buy this title. And was thinking, how about being able to Obtain the title. But this title would not be in the slightest easy to get. Maybe level 50-100, it would require alot of dedication to WvW. Therefor earning the title.
