i would pay 800 gems for https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Endless_Casual_Hoodie_Clothing_Tonic anet is sitting on a gem goldmine and they refuse to add it, really wonder why
lower the amounts in boxes, but PLEASE keep the system in place, gw2 desperatley needs a way to farm specific mats. Especially low level/non harvest-able ones like cloth
So thieves are the only cancerous condi profession?
Another witch hunt thread…..great
I have no problem with condi builds, its just thieves ability to apply massive amounts of conditions while evading / stealthed takes so much counterplay away and just makes it frustrating. A thief popping an instant, no cast venom in the middle of a teamfight or with a mesmer is not fun or interesting.
why wasn’t this gutted? who enjoys playing against condi thief?
I realize that the expansion needs to sell and that the elite specs need to be cool and new, but I really hope that the devs keep in mind the insane power creep that happened with HoT and try to avoid it this go around. Balanced options are more healthy for the game and community long-term than a new bloated spec thats fun until almost every class is running it in every situation nullifying any diversity. (HoT)
welcome to the pvp community, full of increasing disappointment and decreasing population for the past 5 years!
wonder if anet has any opinions on this? do they think the pace of pvp is better or worse now?
I was watching an old livestream of a tournament and something hit me
https://youtu.be/gj93GiPC5bw?t=4581
Conditions have meaning and you arent instantly stacked with 10 of them, necros play conservativley
Even in 5v5 midfights, you arent maxed out on all boons, you actually time and care about stability and cooldowns.
AoE (allied and enemy) plays a big part in skirmishes and 1v1s, timing dodgerolls will abilities has importance (much less vigor everywhere, very few invuln abilities/aegis and blind.)
PvP had interesting mechanics and play, but with elite specs now its just a total messy kittenshow. Rev on point? No need to worry about boons. Necro near you? you get an instant 5+ condis on you from 1 or 2 skills. Timing a big attack in a 1v1? the enemy has 3+ evades, or 5 different ways to heal.
Yeah old pvp wasnt perfect, and even in this tournament you could see the issues with the “petting zoo”, asura spam and wonky runes/sigils. But even with those flaws, pvp had depth and interesting moment to moment gameplay that I feel is really missing after the introduction of oversaturated elite specs.
Anet I beg you to look at elite specs, even a little pruning would help pvp immensely
if the leaks about next xpac are true, the only thing I want is for llama minis to be turned into mounts thx.
necro can easily carry games by stomping teamfights, boon corruption is nasty right now with so many classes depending on them and kittenting them out nonstop. Also sub plat you can just put pleaugelands on the mid point and win it.
Tell us how we are wrong, show us what you are working on, show us what you want to do, tell us what you are not doing/plan on doing. I just want SOMETHING from the devs. This silence is seriously killing your gamemode; just one dev needs to take their lunch break to reply to some forum threads. Not everything has to be set in stone, or an official statement.
COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS
the problem isnt conditions themselves, its how overloaded specs have become. you get hit with 3+ conditions just for being near a necro changing form. I remember the days of lb sw/sw warrior, it had 3 key abilities that did a lot of damage by applying conditions (lb 6, sword 4 and wildfire) there was counterplay. Now its just a battle of who can kitten out the most abilities without dieing first and hoping you can dodge one of their 10 big abilities
In case anyone is interested, here’s the official ArenaNet site page declaring Guild Wars is a Competitive Online Role-Playing Game, way back before it even launched.
“Rather than labeling Guild Wars an MMORPG, we prefer to call it a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game).”
https://web.archive.org/web/20040602202532/http://www.guildwars.com:80/faq/default.html
That’s from the time where they still thought pve would be a mere introductory lobby for a pvp-centered endgame.
The main reason why they haven’t changed the description later on to MMORPG is because they’ve been using CORPG acronym already for some time, and it was easier for them to simply change the word behind the letter “C”.
too bad they threw pvp into the trash for 4 years. 1 man balance team and bi-decade updates.
custom outfits.
apply transmutation charges to a custom outfit, shared between characters that acts as a regular outfit just with existing armor pieces. any blank slots would just show your equipped armor.
the current system is kinda garbage, with the entire endgame premise is based around looks & the only way to change them is through the gemstore/pvp, every single time you get new gear or a character.
to buffer the slight loss in transmutation charges through the gemstore, anet could give you 3 custom outfits by default, and you could buy more in the gemstore for 500+
Do you think Anet will listen to you? As long Tools likes their gameplay, this will never change. It is already been a whole year on this meta and nothing changed, in fact it went far south and got uglier than before.
Good luck!!!
I’m just an idiot with a sliver of hope
Traits and abilities causing heals, boons, conditions and damage being passively applied is sucking the fun and life out of pvp.
HoT amplified this issue 100x with elite specs and all of the overloaded goodies they got.
- Combo fields are irrelevant now
- Healing just happens when you are near a druid or somehow got regen
- Well timed abilities get randomly blocked or blinded by a guardian spamming traps or aegis coming off CD
- Professions no longer have clear counters due to elite specs covering most of their weaknesses
- Balance has been compromised to selling expansions, someone without HoT has maybe one or two viable builds in PvP and that isnt a coincidence.
All of the nuances and counterplay provided in the past has been nullified, because while yes dodging key abilities is still possible, there is so much kitten constantly flying around that you run out of tools to play around them.
Im begging the anet balancing team to do a pass over all of the abilities and builds puking up boons, heals, and condis. Make this game interesting again.
(Disclaimer: Im not saying any of these things are inherently overpowered, just that they lack clarity and counterplay so please read carefully before typing your “git good” reply. Ive been an avid player for 4 years….I just love this game with a passion and want to see it rise to the potential I know it has. Im still writing long forum posts to worlds least transparent developers :P)
im not saying they are broken or avoid counterplay, im just saying that there is something wrong when half of the players in a given match are playing the same class.
does nobody see issue that there are 4+ dragon hunters every game lmao
um so I just logged onto my thief for the first time in a while to play spvp and game was fine but the stealth gameplay felt like trash and I couldn’t really tell why until i noticed that stealth-activated abilities got a 1 second cd?
I understand what the thought process behind that is, but it feels bad and doesnt make any sense if you look at the base class
Weapon skills have no CD but cost initiative
Utility skills cost nothing but have a long CD
so, sure, punish a bad backstab or whatever, but make it cost initiative not a 1s CD that just feels like kitten, especially because 90% of the time the player isnt countering you its just a random dodge/blind/aegis lets be real
I sat for hour and half last night waiting for dumb harpies event to spawn so i could finish my sunrise collection and it never happened. Checked today and event is bugged, harpie spawns and looks at villager then just flies away – killing it does nothing. Please fix this t h a n k s : )))))))))
link to bugged event : https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_the_kidnapping_harpies_before_they_reach_the_cliffs
Would it be possible to have this change based on your current attunement? Because that would be amazing.
It really isnt… at all
After the channel is done, the bubble just kinda fizzles out, its very underwhelming… Can we get more of a “splash” at the end? (New ranger heal effect or ele water dagger 5)
LIKE JUST AN ANIMATION
(edited by Nomin.5901)
My only complaint is with rebound, if you guys insist on keeping it in its current form, make the self heal 5K+. In its current form its almost useless, considering most damage builds do 1-2k in an auto attack.
Justin already confirmed that it probably won’t happen! And if it does happen, it won’t be for a few years at least! I’ve been asking for this for years! They just don’t care!
Wasnt this about open world dueling though? And if its true, what a dumb decision by Anet….
how about having all the different modes? keep the current pvp modes, add king of hill modes, add stronghold modes, so everyone can play what he wants?
Why not? If everyone gets what they want maybe there will actually be people in Q and we won’t have to wait so long?
Forcing people to play what they don’t want just makes people not play at all.
So much this, there is already a community of 75+ people who frequent the 1v1 hotjoin rooms, they arent playing conquest or stronghold because its not as fun.
This doesn’t make sense to me, since you can already do this in the Obsidian Sanctum and custom arenas.
I wouldn’t be fair to score 3v3 games the same as 5v5. That’s an apples to oranges comparison.
As to filtering out classes from your game.. well that’s just asking to be abused, especially in tournaments.
My sense is that you are really asking for organized team pvp only. It seems like you would like see one or more classes eliminated from the game as well.
There would be separate rewards for each of the different game-modes, 1v1 would be the least out of all of them because it would be very fast, and 3v3 would reward more etc.
As for the “removing class” thing, it would prevent the issue of 1 class being completely dominant, and allowing players to avoid hard counters if they wanted. And as I stated before, banning out classes and amulets would greatly reduce rewards.
Can it be actual fire? Not this weak kitten cinder bullkitten
Just a quick question…
Will we ever see old, cosmetic items in the gemstore like the wide rim glasses or aviators again?
I have been playing a valks ele in higher level matches (vs good fights and other teams) and I seem to be doing fine, here is is my current build http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vEAQJAoYhcM6c2zwxBfEBARBMmMK0howDlH5MjNA-TgAA0E5oyxljJHZO2cGfA
Eles strong suit now is roaming, and being able to heal an immense amount. I have yet so see a hard counter and most things I can 1v1 without an issue (all depending on player skill) if you want, feel free to message me in-game for tips and such
I hope that this doesnt come off kittin-ish, but players should not have to take time or enjoyment out of their playing just because you cant keep yourself alive.
PVE
1.Ranger
2.Necromancer
3.Engineer
PVP
1.Elementalist
2.Thief
3.Non-Spirit Ranger
Its a simple question guys, no need to bash anet :P
Condi/Kit Engi (1-5 engi) – Nerf
Non-Spirit ranger – Buff
And ofc buff ele, or revert old nerfs.
As the title says, will you be able to level a character from 1-80 in pvp after glory is removed?
If you are playing hotjoin for the rewards, you are doing it wrong.
I think that it would be great if it was implemented properly, but it wont.
It would allow for structure in all content instead of this “press all of your buttons and do deeps” thing that we have since they killed their “roles” with defiance or whatever its called :l
All is vain
90% Of roamers do it because they feel zerging is mindless and not fun and they like a challenge, its not a build that causes this.
Every single high level Tpvp group uses at least 1 guardian, they are in a AMAZING spot right now, and have been for a while, through almost every meta they have been useful. They dont have a lot of HP because they have SO many heals, blocks, blinds cleanses. This is a l2p issue and maybe you should be playing a condi engi or regen war to get yourself familiar with he game.
1) Banner Regen warrior (you literally just have to summon a banner, and nothing can kill you 1v1)
2)MM Necro
3)1-5 Engis, rotation means nothing and every skill is effective in almost any situation.
4)Zerker staff ele, some may argue this, but from a Tpvp standpoint all you do is spam aoe until you get killed, re-spawn and repeat.
5)Power necro, place wells, lich form, spam 1.
And IMO spirit ranger is not as faceroll as people have stated, I just recently started playing it and I have yet to kill any somewhat decent player just by spamming 1 on SB.
Its sad, all they need to do is add a “Are you ready?” button and than then 4v5 rate goes down 90%
You cant just “get rid of the meta” the only way to do this would be to achieve perfect balance. And out of every meta the easiest and most powerful builds will be used, its just how this game works
This sounds great, as long as it Does not affect supply, that would make an already amazing elite, 100% god-mode.
You obviously don’t play thief. This would kill the classes core mechanics, and make them a moving target, I agree that WvW, thieves could use a longer revealed duration, but Tpvp is fine as it is.
(edited by Nomin.5901)
Yeah I dunno what’s so bad about 2 thieves at higher levels of play, if they coordinate that’s basically 2 targets that you won’t account for when running into a fight.
My point proven exactly, you have little to no experience with Tpvp.
Hi there, I main a thief and am a rather “hardcore tpvper”,
And from the looks of your post you have little to no experience with
1. Thief
2. Tpvp
As you said, Thieves can just run away, while this is true, if they are running they are not capping a point, killing anyone therefore being 100% useless to the score of a game.(Same goes with them being stealthed) On top of that, you are complaining about their high damage? If they didn’t have some of the highest damage in the game, they would have to stay in a fight for a substantial amount of time, in doing that they take damage….A thief that takes damage is a dead thief.
Now thieves need some small tweaking balance wise, but as far as mechanics they are in a great place and where every class should be. As many have said if you are a bad player, you will be bad at thief, and if you are good, you are great at thief. And if you are getting killed by someone smashing 2 with their nose than this is a L2P issue, not balance. There are many counters to thief, which can turn the fight completely in your favor, these are blind, immob, CC, damage, and toughness…… Thats a lot.
To anyone that says thief is unbalanced, join a soloQ and only press 2, see how you fare.
This question is quite invalid, asking people why they never PvP? How would they know if they have not gave it a real try? I am an active PvPer, and would like to clear up some misconceptions that some of you seem to have.
1. “I am not rewarded for PvPing!”
~Actually, you are! As of the Decenber 10th patch SoloQ wins award you with 20s and TeamQ will award you with 30s, in addition to that you will get 300-350 glory which can be traded for wintersday presents, if sold on the TP, you will be making about a gold every 2 games!
2.“The PvP community is toxic! Just filled with awful people!”
~Yes, there are some people who are very rude, and not good sportsmen, but that is not everyone! I have met many awesome people doing Team Q that I chat with very often, and PvPers can be just as helpful as PvErs, people will teach you, give you builds and be willing to answer almost any of your questions!
3.“There is only 1 game mode, that is very boring”
~Currently, yes, there is only 1 gamemode and that is conquest, BUT arenanet has stated that there will be NEW GAME MODES added at the start of this year.
4.“My character looks so bad in PvP”
~In the next living story update ( think the next o_O) they will be re-vamping the PvP rewards! And there will be no difference in Pvp and PvE skins! So you can have that cool arah armor look while pwning noobs.
If any of you are interested in PvP, we would love to have you!
There are just a few things that you should do before jumping to SoloQ!
1. Find a build that is currently in the meta (these can be found on every classes sub-forum)
2. Try out the build in a 5v5 hotjoin
3. Make sure to know all of the classes roles, and certain sayings.
Not doing these things is what brings out the worst in PvPers and I think that is what some of you are experiencing.
To put in in PvE terms, just jumping to pvp with a random build is like running a level 50 fractal as a cleric bearbow ranger, with 0 AR. It makes the community seem toxic, when its really not.
1.A PvP living story ( Every 2 week balance updates and new rewards :P)
2. Better class balance, more in depth (we all saw the elementalist changes last patch)
3. New game modes and maps
4. Exclusive pvp rewards, that can be displayed in PvP and PvE (Say, a cool armor set for getting your classes champion title)
5. Better Dev interaction, Updates on whats happening balance wise, community polls for balance changes, etc…..
Sorry for making 6, but needing 25 skill points is ridiculous and I could not imagine if one of the new healing skills was required for a meta build…. Make them 1-3 skill points or free like everything else.
(edited by Nomin.5901)
^ 6/10 Not very comprehensive but I like the flavor (The older one was awesome xD)
Mine is, Lyn
All they need to add is a chat box with 2 buttons “Ready” and “Not ready” POOF! no more 4v5s! :O
