My weapon swaps are specifically two-handed and dual-wield. If I want to equip a one-hand item, I do so on my dual-wield swap. If I want to equip a two-hand, I do so on my two-handed swap.
Is it inconvenient? You might construe it as such, but I keep a very strict order of what weapons go where in my bags, so I never have to look at sigil to know what I am equipping. In this way, it would be more frustrating to simply equip something anywhere I felt like it, as things would require constant sorting and resorting; indeed, it is easiest to just pay attention to whether I am on a two-handed set or dual-wielding set and interchange accordingly.
It was satire; they will never do it, period, because there is no money to be made in doing so. ANet is a husk of itself puppeteered by NCsoft for profit, not fun.
Not profitable; NCsoft would never let ANet do it.
But perhaps if they introduce a one-time use easy-mode consumable in the gem shop for 2k gems…
I hear people talking about “speed runs”, and thinking to myself, why would anyone ever want to do a speedrun, anyway?
The answer is simple. You speed run because you want the reward, but not the content.
Not even close.
No that’s just how it works; I believe the author even mentions that it often does not work with instancing. It’s the reason I play with two PCs (as well because each client will have it’s own dedicated resources so neither of them cause the other lag; this is not a solution for everybody, however).
I have the opposite problem. I have 16 gifts of exploration yet no precursors or mats for a single legendary……..
I think you are in the better situation and I can tell you that doing world complete a few times is not so bad lol…
I can tell you that soloing Arah is not that bad.
Of course, it’s all subjective.
If it takes you STATIC 20 seconds to run to a location, you can not be any faster, and I run it in 10 seconds, how are you being “forced” to catch up? You’ll get there when you get there, and no one is forcing you to do anything, but in the manner which you apply your logic, you are actively trying to force (or at least desire that) these people slow down for you.
Why?
Why is one perfectly acceptable but not the other?
Do you dislike being discriminated against? You mention trash; do you perhaps have an issue running past mobs? Do you need to be carried? Or did you expect everyone to know what you wanted without specifying?
I could keep going but I know you’re going to defend yourself valiantly and never see the err.
So this is your first MMO, is what you’re saying?
I just buy 80s. It’s really the only way I could have more than two, and it’s a lot more time efficient. 2 hours of actual labor (and the boredom of crafting)… or 60 hours of straight boredom, or whatever it takes to me to map complete to 80.
Can’t complain. First game I’ve played where it’s really an option, and I like that.
You require literally nothing to do this besides more than 5 people and a possibly a VoIP client. The game doesn’t need to implement any kind of extra feature to allow you to do this on your own. We raced DoA all the time in GW1. Get 16 people in guild, pick two team captains, and alternate party selection. You get your two teams of 8 sorted, decide on your starting area, and countdown to begin.
You want extra rewards? Wager with the other team your rewards for path/dungeon completion and winners take all.
It’s so simple. This is what a sandbox is. Build your own sand castle, sand house, or sand apartment.

Mystic Forge weapons already exist
Eh, but son, Arah solo is very rewarding. 20g+
Then why make the thread. Just go
And that they’ll be stuck on staff for another number of seconds after.
The proper technique (imo) is to swap to GS (trash) or hammer (boss) while channelling Empower. Reason being, a trash pull shouldn’t take 20+ seconds, no matter the ridiculously bad party comp. And for a boss, you should still retain at least 1 fire field, typically PF, although I would often also run HG, that you can blast Hammer 2 and Focus 5 as many as 4 more times during the fight (HG → Focus 5, Hammer 2, Hammer 2 → PF → Hammer 2) for minimum 20-24 seconds each of 3-might stacks. Double duration without an otherwise useless weapon swap.
I think that’s an excellent drop rate.
I did Shards of Orr well over 250 times and only earned one BDS to myself, perhaps 3 to strangers. I did FoWSC hundreds more and only saw two Obby Edge to myself, maybe another 4 to strangers.
Strictly comparing this “per capita” to GW2, it does make GW1 drops seem a lot higher, but you must also consider the condition that TP brings to the game: that is, everything will always be worth a lot less than if players had to sit in town spamming WTS. Reason being is that the listings dont disappear when you get tired of spamming. Every seller is always selling all the time. This dilutes the market with surpluss and naturally makes even very rare items (Charged Lodestone) worth a pittance.
So with that taken into account, drop rates in this game require adjustment to maintain the prestige in what should be prestigious items. There are numerous skins that drop from only specific areas or foes, and if you look many of them up (I dont remember them but I do know that Shatterer and Jormag have boss-specific skins/weapons), they’re not worth a whole lot.
Even Genesis, Entropy, Cobalt, etc, were devalued quickly after their release due to the amount of people in total opening champ boxes, finding them, and listing on TP.
And finally, this may still be to your benefit because it’s not often you stumble across 200g in an item, precursors aside, so if you do happen to be the name pulled out of the RNG hat, I’d say it’s better to be RNGed 200g instead of 20g.
