Suddenly, people buying ton of T5 dust to try their chance at the mystic toilet

I hope they have better luck than me. Most of the time, I ended up with a loss, meaning, I would have been better off using the monies I received from selling my T5 dust, and using it to purchase the equivalent worth of T6.

Seems like the breaking point for profit is around 17 dust.

No, it isn’t. The receipe for upgrading T5 dust into T6 is as below -

1 Crystalline dust + 250 incandescent dust + 5 Philosopher’s Stone + 5 Crystals

1 Crystalline dust = 39s 73c
250 Incandescent dust @ 2s 87c each = 717s 50c

Total cost = 39s 73c + 717s 50c = 757s 23c

If you take the total cost of 757s 23c and divide it by the Crystalline dust price of 39s 73c, you would get 19.06.

This means that if your upgrade yields more than 19 pieces of Crystalline dust, congratulations, you made a profit (then again, skill points were assumed to be worth 0)

If you get less than 19 pieces of Crystalline dust, it means that you would be better off selling the T5 dust, and using the proceeds to fund the equivalent worth of your T6. On top of that, you have completely wasted your skill points in the form of crystals and stones.

So… did you get more than 19 pieces using the upgrade receipe?

Unfortunately, the thing is, the amount of T6 dust that drops, is not available for sale if the player who gets the mat, needs the mat himself/herself.

i.e. Supply of these materials only comes from people who gets the mat and doesn’t want it, and then places them on the auction house for sale.

For anyone who has tried placing an order for T6 dust on the trading post, you will find that it’s harder to get the orders filled for this particular commodity as compared to other T6 materials like ancient bones, powerful blood, armored scales, vicious fangs, vicious claws or elaborate totems.

You either have to take it directly from the lowest seller, or place multiple small orders like 10 pieces at a time. The rate at which the transaction takes place tells you about the scarcity and how readily available this particular material is.

If we were to look across the board for the T6 materials, none of them have broken new lows each time they fall. On the other hand, higher highs have been achieved.

Since November 2012, when the first mass expulsion of bots occurred, prices of these T6 materials have gone up from below 1s to the current average of around 20s a piece.

If all things remain constant, and if history can be used as a guide to how Anet nerfs, what is the likely outcome for the prices of T6 across the board, 1 to 2 years later?

For record keeping, currently T6 dust is buying at 32s 20c a piece and selling for 35s 89c a piece.

One day later…

T6 dust is buying at 34s 28c a piece and selling for 36s 20c a piece today as at 8:38am on 30th May 2013.

There’s a bit more dust supply today, though it’s nothing to shout about. It’s about 2 Bifrosts worth.

T6 dust supply – 1,488 as at 9.22am 31st May 2013.

T6 dust prices continues to climb though.

Buying at 35s 68c vs selling at 36s 74c.

3.07pm 3rd June 2013, T6 dust is selling for 39s 22c and buying for 36s 2c with total supply 1,409 pieces.

4.11pm 4th June 2013, T6 dust is selling for 37s 45c and buying for 36s 80c with total supply being 2,225 pieces.

11.20am 5th June 2013, T6 dust is selling for 39s 99c and buying for 37s 11c with total supply being 2,305 pieces.

Last 6 day buying prices from record keeping -

1. 32s 20c
2. 34s 28c +2s
3. 35s 68c +1s
4. 36s 2c +0.5s
5. 36s 80c +0.7s
6. 37s 11c +0.3s.

While the price increase is depressing, the saving grace of it all is that there is still some supply…

[…]
Who, in the right frame of mind, will farm for the materials, given such overwhelming odds? Especially when most of the receipes require not just 5 powerful bloods, but a stack of 250 of the material.

For example,

1. Stygian blade requires 250 powerful blood and 250 vicious claws.
2. Eye of Rodgort requires 500 powerful blood

You get the idea…

Why shouldn’t we be able to farm to craft it ourselves? It adds to the sense of accomplishment. Arenanet don’t seem to get this.

I’d really like a comment from them on how they think people should be getting the T6 mats to craft these items.

Exactly my point. In fact, while farming for the mats, one cannot hope to outdo the rewards from CoF p1. One can only hope to match the rewards from CoF p1.

I feel happy everytime I look at my Guardian with the Flameseeker Prophecies because I farmed all the gold myself to buy the precursor, the mats etc. Though I think I would double my satisfaction if I ever managed to farm out the stacks of mats that were needed.

Southsun Cove, killing karkas for powerful blood. With a buff of 200% MF and other boosters,

1. You are lucky if you can get 1 powerful blood in 10 minutes.
2. You are very lucky to get 2 powerful bloods in 10 minutes.
3. You are extremely lucky to get 3 powerful bloods in 10 minutes.
4. 4 powerful bloods usually require killing karkas for more than an hour.
5. 5 powerful bloods in 10 minutes? I’ve never even seen it, and people don’t believe it’s an experience that’s repeatable.

What is the other option for 10 minutes? Run CoF p1 within 10 minutes, get 1g or more, and with the monies, you DEFINITELY can buy 4 powerful bloods.

Who, in the right frame of mind, will farm for the materials, given such overwhelming odds? Especially when most of the receipes require not just 5 powerful bloods, but a stack of 250 of the material.

If you click on the link, it will take you to an excel spreadsheet that has already calculated the cost of doing material promotion, whether it is from T5 to T6 or from T1 to T2.

In summary, the table shows that all T5 to T6 conversion results in a loss on average. It’s a matter of how much the loss is. In short, you are safer selling your T5 materials at the current market rates, and use the monies you receive from that sale, to buy the T6 material that you need.

Busy working Monday

There was a spike over the weekend on the dust price to 90s a piece (that’s almost 750g for those intending to craft Bifrost for the mat requirement alone), taking out the entire dust supply that was on the trading post.

There were only about 100 pieces left when I noticed it on the auction house.

3.07pm 3rd June 2013, T6 dust is selling for 39s 22c and buying for 36s 2c with total supply 1,409 pieces.

Not sure if anyone saw the spike earlier.

T6 dust supply got completely wiped out, and it was selling for 90s a piece. Even if you were to place an offer to buy as the highest bidder, chances are, you will be outbid faster than your order is filled.

And the reason is at the start of this posting. Excess supply isn’t forthcoming fast enough.

I was quite frankly very tempted to just let go of my stash and give up on my legendary when T6 dust was selling at 90s a piece. A single 250 stack would mean approximately 240g.

Hope Arenanet is going to do something about the drops for this particular mat soon.

A really vicious idea just popped into my head outta nowhere.

We all know very well that the amount of T6 dust that is generated from so-called “playing the game, without farming” is absolutely insufficient to cover the demand and needs for crafting purposes.

Since there are only 1,000 or so pieces left on the trading post, we could always just collectively mop up the supply and let Arenanet deal with the issue of inadequate supply, therein forcing them to intervene.

Of course this would mean that the trading post would almost always virtually run out of stock on T6 dust until Arenanet takes action for days on end…

Farm gold and buy the mats…

Only issue here is…. there’s nothing left to buy. It’s going to get sold out soon. There’s only about 1,000 pieces of them left on the auction house.

This isn’t entirely accurate.
The Supply listed on the Trading Post is the total of the amounts of the lowest 20 prices listed. You can check this easily for yourself by finding some cheap item with more than 20c inbetween the offers and listings and post one at each copper inbetween. The “supply” will drop to 20, and rise when they are bought.

Morning guys!

Sonic, yeah, I am aware that the supply listed on the trading post only shows the supply of the lowest 20 prices listed. However, the total supply listed on the trading post can be found here -

http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/24277

As of right now, there are only a total of 617 pieces of T6 dust left and 39,655 pieces to order. Since Anet doesn’t want people to farm, it’s just a matter of time when the auction house completely runs out of supply.

I think it’s obvious that the amount of supply coming in isn’t enough to offset the amount of demand chewing ofkitten

If I want to convert 200 cores into 100 lodestones, I need 100 piles of crystalline dust.

If I want to craft the Bifrost, I need 750 piles of crystalline dust.

If I want to craft the Flameseeker Prophecies, I need 500 piles of crystalline dust.

That’s really great since dust drops from undead in cursed shore… Wait…. It’s been nerfed.

T6 dust also drops from high level ghosts…. There are no high level ghosts except the miserable few in Eternal Battlegrounds.

T6 dust also drops from heavy moldy bags, but since cursed shores and malchor’s leap have been nerfed, it’s kinda hard to get those.

What other avenues of getting T6 dust are left except from the trading post? I know the AC dungeon chest drops T6 dust also, but that dungeon has been buffed.

Is there anything remaining, that deals with T6 dust aquisition, that hasn’t been either nerfed or buffed?

I’ve decided to hoard T6 dust because of this. I’m not advocating that people do the same. It’s my personal decision. I mean, if Arenanet believes that the game produces enough supply of crystalline dust, then the trading post ought to never run out of those stuff right?

Yet, the total quantity on sale on the auction house for this particular material is dwindling and the prices for this particular commodity has risen 4 silver in the last 2 days alone.

is open world agony coming?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

instead of the upgrade the Fervid Censer has + defensive infusion
this means it cannot take exquisite gems

given that currently agony is present in exactly one location in the game (fractals) which many players have no intention of participating in (ever) why are the items being itemized for playing in that area of the game being released elsewhere when they give no benefit over normal items in every other aspect of the game?

while im sure many will argue you can just transmute them to whatever other backpack you prefer, the same is true in reverse if they had proper upgrade slots.

this returns me to the original question of why were they itemized this way, should we be expecting every karaka to have agony in the future?

If I remember correctly, defensive infusion means you can add defensive stats such as toughness, vitality and healing power. If you have an offensive infusion slot, it means you can add power, precision or condition damage stats.

Both defensive and offensive infusions can be used to add agony resistant stats if you so desire, but if you don’t want to add agony resistance because you don’t think you are going to need it, you can opt to add the 3 defensive stats I mentioned for that particular backpiece you gave as an example.

Guild wars now what?

in Players Helping Players

OliverT.9021

I am so bored i have no idea what do anymore. Guild wars 2 keeps adding on boring extra content, but i am not impressed and most of it is really boring. I am part of a small guild and i don’t want to have to pay a big guild or join one just to find something to do in mission exectera. I am a dungeon master, WvW commander, and bored of pvp. I just log in to do my daily fractals then log out like its farmville cause pink gear is the only thing i need (besides the wasted time on a shinny legendary which not impressed). So what is there left do? Does anyone have any interesting ideas or fun or know if Anet will come out with something for GW2 that is epic, fulfilling, or worth time? People in lions arch keep posting this game is dieing are they right?

I think the keyword is replayability.

If I were to compare Defense of the Ancients from Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne game, I must have played that game thousands of time. Everytime we start a new game, all players begin with 500g.

However, in Guild Wars 2, that desire to replay this game simply isn’t strong to begin with. When people “re-play” CoF p1, it’s not because they enjoy it. They do it because they want the stuff at the end – the rewards.

Why else would there be so many speed runs requiring only 4 warriors and 1 mesmer? Would players be in such a hurry if it’s so much fun? Here’s the truth we all know that goes unspoken – It isn’t. That’s the reason behind the speed run. To get it over and done with.

In Dota, the process and the end is fun, which is why people play it again.
In Guild Wars 2, the process is boring, but people play it again because they want to get something, hence it becomes labelled as a grind.

Both can be classified as replayable content. Yet only one of them is replayable without feeling like a grind.

A grind doesn’t necessarily have to have negative connotations. However, it is a negative word to most players because people associate the word to dreadful repetition.

For the Dota map, it’s so small but people could replay that map thousands of times. Here in Guild Wars 2, the world is huge, yet it’s a pain to do it again.

I like both Dota and Guild Wars 2 for different reasons. I am also running out of things to do, and other players will tell you it’s time to leave the game, take a break, play something else, and come back when new content is out.

I don’t think that’s the answer we are all looking for. This game is beautiful. We see its potential to succeed and be epic, and be so much more than just… this.

We are not asking for a reason to stay. We want to stay. Just don’t give us a reason to leave.

I have the Moot and the Flameseeker Prophecies on my Guardian, but I’m at work at the moment so I guess I’ll only be able to update with the pictures when I get home and logged on.

I did drop a picture of my Guardian on a seperate thread. It isn’t very obvious because the picture is supposed to asentuate the mixed and match armor, rather than show off the legendaries. They are showing in the picture though. You can see erm… the handle of the Moot, and erm… the underside of the Flameseeker. Hahaha.

Like you, I wanted to get these 2 legendaries for the looks. However, after seeing them for about 3 months, here are the little things that gets to me.

1. The aegis clipping is annoying. The aegis buff that guardians have permanently on them when they are not in combat, blankets as a “blue energy” over the shield.

2. In PVE, the mace works a lot better with the focus. Of course, since we are all about looks, the legendary chicken doesn’t quite fit here.

The reason why the mace is more synergistic with the focus is because the mace is a melee weapon. Mace #2 gives regen. Focus #4 gives regen as well. Mace #3 blocks, and you gain might for every block if you got that traited. Focus #5 has 3 blocks.

Imagine you went on melee, only to use shield #5 to push the enemy out of your hitting range. Of course, you can always be like me – equip them both but don’t use any of the shield’s skills except for healing.

The scepter is made for the shield. You shoot projectiles with the scepter and you can have the shield to absorb incoming projectiles.

3. The scepter works better with the shield, to be honest. And I’ve seen another Guardian with the Meteorologicus and the Flameseeker before. It looks pretty awesome except that there are no footfalls on either of the weapons, so that gets to me.

Dungeon specific classes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: OliverT.9021

OliverT.9021

Seems like there are specific classes that are good for running certain dungeons efficiently and effectively. From the list I’ve made below, it seems, through the process of elimination, the ones that don’t belong anywhere are the rangers, the necros and the engineers.

1. Ascalonian Catacombs -
Elementalists – Ice bow clears the burrows fast and painless.
Guardians – For their major stability buffs to the entire party to stave off the knockdowns.

2. Twilight Arbor -
Guardians – For tons of stability and their wall of reflection, needed for the various paths, and Guardian’s staff #1 skill for clearing tons of flowers effectively and efficiently.

3. Citadel of Flame -
Warriors – For the buffs through For Great Justice, and their high burst damage via hundred blades.

Mesmers – For their timewarp, feedback, signet of inspiration, portal, and time warp.

4. Fractals of the Mists -
Guardians – Again for stability and wall of reflection.
Mesmers – For portal, feedback and the tons of reflective abilities
Thief – For dredge fractal

5. Caudecus Manor -
Guardians – Again for stability and wall of reflection.
Mesmers – For reflective abilities.

6. Arah -
Guardian – Regen, stability, wall of reflection, spirit shield
Mesmers – For reflective abilities and timewarp
Warriors – Damage buffs through banners and shouts

7. Crucible of Eternity -
Mesmers – For portal, time warp
Warriors – For banners and shouts

still no love for meteorlogicus

Same goes for The Minstrel.

I’m sorry, but The Minstrel has already too many special effects, sounds and stuff.

/s

I laughed so hard at this on the other thread. The sarcasm was really well done.

I was wondering if we could get a hint that the developers are working on the remaining legendaries’ polish. On a deeper level of thought, I realize that if there were to be any sort of a positive response to the question, we are going to see precursor prices for the focus, the scepter spiral higher than what they are selling for now.

It’s really frustrating. On one hand, I would really like to know if there are going to be any improvements to be made to the scepter, the focus and the other weapons that didn’t get any animation, footstep, aura buffs the last round…

Please give them some nice footfalls. I don’t have a vested interest on the scepter nor the focus at the moment.

However, I did make the Moot after I saw the polish and I thought the footsteps were nice. I also did make the Flameseeker Prophecies because I liked the lore and the look of that shield. And I’m hoping one day the legendary shield is going to give footsteps of its own.

In my opinion, GW2 is dying

Funny how this thread and another one, that talks about starter maps being empty are running concurrently.

If starter maps are empty, doesn’t that mean there is a lack of new players? Queensdale still has people but I’m not sure if those are new players or just new alts…

For the other maps, they are still very much barren except for the periods when “maw is up”, “fire ele pre-event starting”, or “wurm is dead” as soon as it spawns.

I know Iron Marches is pretty much barren most of the time.

And if there are a lack of new players to replace the old players who are leaving… doesn’t that mean, declining population and therefore declining activity?

Last man standing = Best player in the party?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: OliverT.9021

OliverT.9021

I’ve read so many on the forums talking about he/she being the last player standing and then continues writing with the implied notion that he/she is the better player. While in certain situations that holds true, there are times when I see the last person standing as the worst player in the group.

Situations like everyone goes melee range and there’s this one person that stretches the farthest of his range attacks. Yes, you can most definitely dps the boss from where you are standing just fine, regardless 1,200 range away or 130.

I don’t really think that’s the point…

If we were fighting Malrona (the TA Exp Up Path Spider boss), definitely range is the way to go for everyone. If we were fighting Fyonna (the TA Exp Up Path boss after the Spider), even if you were holding a ranged weapon such as a bow or a staff, please fight the boss at melee range so that she doesn’t end up running around like some mad woman on the loose, and worse if she runs out of the cave, causing all the spider eggs to hatch.

Or in FOTM where we got to the Ascalon fractal, and the farthest person standing is holding back all the NPCs, preventing them to go where they are needed…

When everyone goes melee, the benefits are -

1. Being able to res each other when one of the members gets downed because the boss targetted him instead of the rest

2. Tossing out buffs that nearby players can benefit, and this is possible when everyone is within range of each other and usually that is in melee range.

3. AOE heals and debuffs etc.

And then there’s also the case of players complaining about warriors wearing berserker gear being down more often than anybody else, which automatically makes them the natural worst player?

Sometimes that last person standing is all that makes the difference, and actually makes everyone notice whether he’s the strongest link or the broken one.

I feel your pain and agree, RNG is just… way too hardcore in a game that wasn’t supposed to have grind, much less the vertical kind.

I’d recommend just quitting and sitting on your account instead of giving everything away as maybe someday ANet will make the game better, supposedly we are getting the legendary scavenger hunt that was mentioned months ago, so there’s that… maybe in 2015 if we’re lucky. But still, I’ll take anything you don’t want.

If precursors now cost about 600g on the TP to buy one, and then the price rises to over 1,000g in the next few months…

Which ANet then releases the Scavenger Hunt, only to have prices drop back to 600g where they are right now, I’d rather not hope against hope for something hopeless.

So I went and don my MF suit and go for a run in CS after a very long time. I killed about maybe 100 mobs there, went to frostgorge, killed another 100 mobs, and the results were absolutely dismal, and I felt like DR kicked in within 15 minutes. Amazing.15 drops for 1 hour? Come on…. It’s like saying farm more gold and purchase the mats you want instead. Any other players experiencing bad drop rates?

You didn’t experienced any DR, just relatively bad luck.

rng is rng.

Not sure if kidding, but this makes me feel like going to COF p1 more than anything. RNG on mats too?? I think I saw posts on why people are heading to COF p1 in the dungeon section, this is your reason. It’s the most “rewarding” with the least amount of QQ effort to get something you want.

Sadly, I agree with you also. I’m facing the same problem trying to raise a stack of T6 materials. The only feasible and less painful way of doing that is to farm for gold off CoF p1, and use it to purchase the mats.

Which begets the question – T6 mats will run out of supply on the TP sooner or later if this continues to be the case like how the lodestones were awhile ago, until they buffed the drop rates, the orrian boxes etc.

Imagine one Bifrost needs 750 piles of T6 dust. How many Bifrost can we make, based on the current supply of dust on the TP at the moment? Less than 10 staffs.

I suppose if we really don’t start grinding for legendaries now, regardless how insane the total cost and time required is… it might come to a point when it becomes almost impossible.

Should I go for a Legendary?

Hi everyone!

Recently I got this desire to get a Legendary for fun but I go back and forth on the idea, like it sounds exciting and challenging but is the time spent on it, worth it?

I would like the know from anyone that has or is trying to get a Legendary, what really made you to try/get a Legendary? Or what turn you off from it?
Did anyone give up? Why?
What was the hardest part?
How did you feel when you did finally get it?
How long did it take?
Would you go for another? One is definitely enough for me LOL.

THANKS for commenting!

1. Had this design in my head about how I wanted to dress up the toon and the weapons were a part of that look, so I started.

2. Yeah, gave up halfway. I was going to make the Bifrost for my necromancer. I was so close to saving the gold for it, but the price suddenly jumped on the January patch and became out of reach.

The prices of lodestones dropped however on that patch, as a result of the Orrian boxes, so I switched my target, and made the Flameseeker Prophecies.

3. The hardest part was probably trying to MF your precursor. Once you get over it, and tell yourself to farm out the gold instead, you stop feeling sucky each time you leave the MF. I don’t like having my heart broken so many times. Hahaha.

Oh and once you’ve farmed out the gold, you sometimes don’t know which items to buy first. If your precursor costs less than 300 gold, buy that one first. Otherwise, buy the T6 materials first.

Prices for T6 materials are heading north at a very sickening pace at the moment, as compared to precursor prices previously.

Map completion was a pain also. After about 10 maps, the next 10 were a chore, and the maps were almost devoid of people. I remembered running iron marches without ever seeing another player or a single map chat. It was really awful.

4. For the FSP, I remembered I was really ecstatic.

5. I started out in early November 2012, and finished it in early February 2013.

6. Yeah, I went for another after that. Got the Moot done in late March 2013. The second one was wayyy easier. I sorta knew what to get first, where to get it, how to get it, etc. Now trying to go for a third.

Well, actually I’m just going back to my original goal. The Bifrost.

I see your point, but I think that by speed-farming CoF P1, you’re playing exactly into ANet’s hands. Now they think, “See? Our requirements for Legendaries/Ascended/etc. are perfectly fine since so many players are still achieving it!” They don’t see that a lot of these players are gritting their teeth and forcing their way through what sounds like incredibly tedious repetition (assumption here. I’ve yet to even play a single dungeon) to get what they want.

We should have just put our foot down and insisted on easier or more diverse ways to obtain Precursors and other high end components rather than give in to the old cycle of grinding/farming for hundreds of hours. (To be fair to ANet here, they did ameliorate this somewhat by the introduction of Orrian Jewelry Boxes and Laurels.)

Yeah, that’s unfortunately only for the lodestones. You know things like the backpiece?

Wouldn’t you love to give that quiver of arrows to your ranger? You know you do right? Well, that’s 250 vials of powerful blood or 95 gold please.

What? You want another 5 agony resistance on it too? That would be another 250 globs of ectos or 55 gold coins.

I think what might help you in this situation would be someone to give you a rough explanation and guide as to the reasoning and the logic behind doing certain things from various perspectives.

Pretty much this.
Edit: nice walkthrough, I hope everyone reads this.

I also found strife’s videos on youtube to be excellent in explaining the dynamics and class roles (warrior, guardian and mesmer roles) in CoF and most other dungeons.

Hahaha, thank you very much. Am at work at the moment, and given that I’ve cleared my work and have nothing on hand, I thought I’d explain for the bunch of us who do speed clears.

I’ve actually not seen anyone who has done a detailed write up on walk through and I feel that there’s a lot of pre-conceived notion of what the speed clear people are like, because of the lack of understanding and communication.

And then finally, moving on to the last boss.

Once everyone is gathered, everyone goes melee range, including the mesmer (technically you should already be in melee range, and using a sword because of its impressive burst skill #2).

Everyone starts buffing, and the mesmer throws out the signet of inspiration again to double all the stacks of boons and buffs. This is also the time to throw down time warp. After the boss lets down an AOE burn (that huge red circle), you should throw up the feedback bubble if you are not sure when to cast it, especially if you don’t react fast enough to the boss’s tell tale signs.

This will cause the AOE knockdown that the boss releases to bounce back and damage him for approximately 30k if done correctly, and will also spare the warriors from getting knockdown, and might also prevent them from getting the AOE burn.

There’s no hard and fast rule as to when to put down which skill for this fight because a lot depends on the action of the last boss and how you react to his tell tale signs if you know how to read it.

However, the fight doesn’t stray very far from what I’ve described here so the mechanics are more or less layed out. It’s just the sequencing of how you put out the proper utilities from reading the situation.

An effectively efficient run on p1 typically logs me around 6 mins. The speed run of 15 mins is more than double my timing. This may seem very little but when used in the context of farming for a legendary or some exotic weapon (which requires some crazy 350 charged lodestones or 500 powerful blood) where 400 hours needed are concerned, doubling that would mean 800 hours.

Again, before the slave driver is activated, usually the warriors will throw down banners of strength, discipline and the warbanner.

1. Banner of strength -> Increases power and condition damage for the party -> Increases damage output

2. Banner of discipline -> Increases precision and critical strike damage -> Increases critical damage output frequency.

3. Warbanner -> Grants stability, fury, and some other buffs that I can’t remember offhand.

After which, each warrior will buff FGJ again. Basically the essence and purpose behind doing all these things are the same. You can see that everyone is trying to pre-buff one another as high, as far, and as long as possible to prepare for the duration of the fight.

It allows the boss to be taken down quickly, and as painlessly as possible. Once the slave driver is activated, the mob’s name and bar will turn from green to red color. Mesmer, using the focus #4 skill, pulls the boss to the wall.

This prevents the boss from running around, and allows the warriors to activate the channeling hundred blade skill. After the mesmer pulls the slave driver, put down time warp to increase everyone’s attack rate, which allows even faster damage output.

If the boss were to run around, then part of the hundred blade damage will not be dealt, when he runs out of range. That’s why it is important to lock the slave driver in place at the wall.

Not forgetting that everyone has been buffed, and by this time, your signet of inspiration should have returned to full cooldown, activate again, doubling each warrior’s might stack and fury duration.

During this fight, it is not uncommon for a warrior or two, to be down. If I am running this on a very good team, I typically don’t res them. The reason behind is because, we are taking down the boss faster than we can rescue the downed warrior that got targetted. So continuing to melt the boss quickly will rally anyone who is down.

A good reference to a fast speed clear would be the entire duration of a timewarp followed by a feedback bubble.

And here’s the reason why I brought the signet that lengthens boon duration. For the slave driver, it’s to help maximize the durations of the buffs that I am giving out, and when we run over to the acolytes area, if you happen to get knocked down, chances are, you’d be dead in a matter of split seconds.

What this signet does, when you activate it is, it allows you to get up on your feet immediately on cast (i.e. a stun breaker) and also blinds all nearby foes, which increases your chances of survival when you get up from a knockdown that deals godlike damage.

After the mesmer does the portal at the rolling flame boulders, the warrior’s will buff each other with FGJ again. Same process repeats and for the same purpose. When the last FGJ is popped, the mesmer activates the signet of inspiration to give all the warriors 24 stacks of might.

This will help the warrior, who is doing the gate controller, to clear it effectively and efficiently.

EDIT: Included the reason why the mesmer pull was necessary. And included the reason why I brought the other signet. Lawled. Completely forgot about it.

I think what might help you in this situation would be someone to give you a rough explanation and guide as to the reasoning and the logic behind doing certain things from various perspectives.

I don’t have a main character at all. I do have a warrior and a mesmer, created specifically for the sole purpose of running CoF p1 to earn gold for me to enjoy playing my necromancer.

The necromancer is one sad story in terms of the speed in which it clears mobs, but I like to play it for some reason unknown to me and I love to use epidemic. Maybe it’s the sound effect… I digress.

Here’s the utility that you should be bringing, as an experienced mesmer, to running CoF p1 efficiently.

1. Feedback
2. Signet of Inspiration
3. Optional (I typically bring the signet that is a stun breaker on activation and when not activated, it increases boon duration… can’t remember what it’s proper name is. I’ll explain why I bring this.)

Before Magg blows up the gate, usually the warriors will build adrenaline and a few seconds prior to the start, they will buff each other with “For Great Justice!” (which we will lovingly refer to as “FGJ”.

This gives everyone in the radius 3 stacks of might and a fury buff.
1. Might increases power -> Increases damage output.
2. Fury increases critical strike chance by 20%.
3. As a mesmer, I will activate signet of inspiration once all the warriors have put out FGJ. It is important to note that you only activate signet of inspiration last, and here’s why:

One warrior gives 3 stacks of might and a fury buff. 4 warriors gives out 12 stacks of might and the fury buff, while unable to stack, increases in duration. When you receive 12 stacks of might and you activate the signet of inspiration, you copy those 12 stacks of might together with the fury, and double those stacks to everyone.

This means, the warriors now have 24 stacks of might, and a fury buff before Magg blows open the gate, on top of their already high burst DPS damage, wearing berserker gear.

Once Magg blows up the gate, use focus #4 to pull the mobs to the side of the wall on the right hand side near the right brazier. The reason for doing this, is to allow the warriors to use greatsword skill #2 – the hundred blades.

The hundred blade skill is a channeling skill, which means that the warriors cannot move while this skill is being used. The amount of damage dealt by the hundred blade skill for each warrior is approximately 25k to 30k and the skill cleaves. Cleaving means, everything around the warrior when this skill is being performed, takes the same damage that is being thrown at the main target.

When the mesmer pulls the mobs to the right wall, and the 4 warriors proceed to the right side as well to cleave with the hundred blades, effectively they are proccing 25k to 30k in damage to the 2 flame legion and the right brazier.

Multiply that by 4, and top it off with the 24 stacks of might on each warrior, you can see how effectively efficient that is. Then the mesmer will need to throw up a feedback bubble so that the left brazier’s flame, does not 1 shot all of you, when the party focuses on the right, and will cause the left braizer’s projectile attack to bounce off, and damage itself.

Once this is cleared, the party moves on to the slave driver.

I would also like to add one point to the list of problems that you’ve made regarding the auto-attack.

There are some instances where my toon would auto-attack but it would always appear as out-of-range. The fact that the auto-attack is triggered tells me that the target is within range…

And then of course, there is the reverse. Mobs that are within range, yet are not triggering off the auto-attack, so you have to press 1 non-stop like a mad person….

Here’s my necromancer and my guardian. I just put on whatever I think looks nice. Not adhered to social norms that necromancers have got to be dark, green, fiendish.

What’s on my necromancer -

1. Helm – Not showing.
2. Shoulders – T3 Human cultural
3. Chest – TA
4. Gloves – Masterwork crafted, called mending wraps.
5. Legs – COE
6. Boots – COF

What’s on my guardian -

1. Helm – Vigil
2. Shoulders – Vigil
3. Chest – COE
4. Gloves – Vigil

6. Boots – Vigil

I was playing my Necromancer earlier and it dawned on me that my dagger skill #4, deathly swarm, doesn’t transfer 3 conditions on a successful attack.

In fact, all it does, is transfer 1 condition over to my foe. Could someone verify this in case I am doing it wrong, or is it working as intended?

Haven’t seen a thread about Karmic infusion on the ascended amulets yet, so I thought I’d post something up about it since I have it infused.

The +15% karma doesn’t give an increase in karma that you gain from doing events or dungeons. Not exactly sure if it was supposed to do that.

I was initially under the impression that you would get +15% karma from doing events and explorable paths of dungeons. I mean, if +20% money find means you get to loot 20% more gold from monsters that do drop coin, then going by the same logic, shouldn’t players be getting +15% more karma from events and dungeons that do give karma?

What the +15% karma does, at the present moment is, it gives you +15% more karma when you consume those karma jugs, vials, drops etc.

What the +15% karma doesn’t do, is increase the karma that you get from doing events, running dungeons etc. In other words, the 1,880 karma that you get from doing an explorable dungeon path for the 1st time is fixed, regardless if you wear any karmic boosters or not.

My party and I were doing Ascalonian Catacombs Explorer’s path 2.

Not sure what caused it but Kohler died in mid air. It was pretty hilarious at first, but we soon stopped laughing when the loot bag / wooden chest that Kohler dropped, was left hovering above my head like in the picture.

Edit – Forgot to mention that because the loot was in mid air, no one could get their drops.

My character is the blue guardian, called Guardian’s Gambit. Sorry about the poor quality of the picture. It wasn’t set on high resolution.

Master Harvesting Sickle

Hi there,

I got a Master Harvesting Sickle as a reward from doing the story quest. It is green in colour, i.e. a Masterwork item. Technically, it should be better than the blue Orichalcum Harvesting Sickle right?

Apparantly not. A lot of the herbs I tried to harvest with it, turns out to be ruined and can’t be used.

Question – Should I throw away this Master Harvesting Sickle? It seems completely useless and I don’t know what level of herbs I can use this to harvest with because almost every herb node I tried harvesting with this tool, fails.

Same here. That means I cannot get to the POI at Fort Trinity.

Alive. Nothing to defend.
Standing at the exact same position as he was.
So was everyone else.
