I’ve finally realised why I can’t enjoy or begin to enjoy this game even though it’s amazing and is in my favorite genre.

I’m not the demographic at which they are aiming for.

With the “Super Box Adventure” commercial I realised GW2 is made for the 35 year old gamers, or gamers generally older than me in their late 20s to 30s, who love this nostalgic feeling of 8bit games and bad american commercials. I didn’t grow up with this so to me it’s just not something I can relate to on any level.

Did you grow up in the middle ages when there were witches and wizards and saints would slay dragrons, the kings and queens would stay in their castles and the knights of the land would go forth and do their bidding?

Surely you must be too old to still be gaming….

Lucas,

There are millions of players using the TP every day. Every one with a guild wars account uses the same TP. Can you see why it would be impossible to “blacklist” anyone?

You say that you want the precursors to be 50/90g. There is a very limited amount of precursors on the market, if they where that price anyone that wanted one would be able to afford it straight away, and the waiting list for precursors would be years if your plans where implemented.
They are the price they are because there are players willing to pay that price for them.
Imagine Joe has got a precursor today as a drop, why should Joe sell that precursor for 50g to Tom if Jane is willing to pay 500g for it?
Is it fair for Joe that he looses out okitten0g just because Tom can’t afford it?

What you are asking goes against everything that society is based upon.

That would only work if Anet increased the precursor drop rate to ensure that everyone would be able to purchase one. If they did that you would also not have to dictate prices because the market would adjust itself and the prices would fall according to the supply.

Yes, i know. The famous manipulators. Time to put an end on it.
And avoid them and anything they sell.
Mark prices on stones. Discuss real time with the community any minimal variation of the price and why, about anything, like wow ah do. On this very section.
Dig manipulators. If an alt is used to keep up, will be useless.
Price will be community driven, manipulation will not last.
Simply providing names on the TP clients of buyers and sellers.
Anet must give us names. Or shut down this BLT tool at all.
After all, they are proud to be a realistic market , right? Real market have names.
And scammers don’t last long. We cannot apply laws, we can apply a “community” pricelist. And “kick out” those sharks.
Be part of the game you bough. Put and update price on wiki or any other community website dedicated to it, so it’s clear and written on stone even for a newcomer.

Results? A way better game, more enjoyable, a sane market.

That seems like a lovely little project for you. Why don’t you start by trying to convince the people that own the precursors to sell them at the prices that you find reasonable?

The values are all for beserker’s armor and weapons.

All the mats where bought from the TP with a buy order (this is very important).

There is a 13% profit overall in this transaction.

It doesn’t matter if you got the mats from the TP or if you farmed them / got them during your normal play. They should all be cost at current market prices, as they aren’t “free”, they all have a cost.

I’ve just realised that I answered Wetpaw that Joe would be 11g richer, that is not true, I’ve made a mistake and didn’t account for 15% sale tax. The correct value at the initial prices should have been 5g77s77c profit.

And as a crafter your though process would not be to craft a complete set of gear but would be to concentrate on the products that provide you a better margin or that you can sell a bigger quantity off.

Me personally I like to diversify and will craft a range of armor / weapons so that if there is a variation in the market you won’t get caught with a lot of product that doesn’t shift or that the price isn’t profitable.

I know it’s not going to happen. I realize that. I’m just not convinced from personal experience that EVERYONE that plays on a PvP server is a sadist, as we are mostly portrayed in these threads.

If some people are rotten they will be rotten no matter what game mode they play.

How many threads complaining about people getting kicked out of dungeons before they can get their reward? Do we remove dungeons on account of that?

@Kaimick: Thank you for your very reasonable post, it’s not often that you see that in these forums, but people where indeed demanding a Auction House. Everyone was fed up with WTS / WTB and subsequent scams in every major city. And having to resort to 3rd party websites like we had to if you didn’t want to play the WTS/WTB game was ridiculous.

And since WoW is not the only game in the world let’s try seeing what happened in OTHER games with open PvP.

Look at games like Rift, which came later. The later the game, the less open PvP servers seemed to make an impact on the population. The world is changing. There are plenty of people who go to FPS to beat each other up, which didn’t happen back in the old days.

Here’s a link to the Rift server shard status…you’ll note in America they are down to a single PvP server and in Europe they’re down to 3. That’s comapred with seven PvE servers in each zone.

So… Rift had 58 NA servers and 41 EU servers shortly after they launched. They are down to 8 NA servers and 10 EU servers. You really want to use Rift as an example?
Should I reach the conclusion from your data that players that enjoy PvP demand more quality from their games and are less willing to put up with sub-standard products?

Seems to me, your figures are misleading. In every game that’s come down the road, every game I’ve played…more and more people are moving off PvP servers, mostly because ganking is so annoying.

Or it could be because some of those games were sub-standard and as every other sub-standard game it suffered a slow painful death.

Even Guild Wars 1, originally a game geared to PvP ended up being more about PVe, because it’s simply more popular.

I know PvPers really don’t want to hear this truth, but it is truth.

Edit: Forgot to add the link lol

http://au.riftgame.com/en/shardstatus/

I’m not disputing that PvE is more popular than PvP. I enjoy PvP but spend 80% of my time doing PvE. I suspect that is true for most of the PvP population with various degrees of time distribution.
My issue is choice. I’m lobbying for a game mode that would please a “substantial” part of the population, while having absolutely no effect on the remaining that didn’t wish to partake on that game mode.
You are saying: I don’t like it, so none should play it.

You’d have to implement it on a PvP server, which doesn’t exist. It would be one more thing for Anet to fix bugs on, I’d rather have them working on the core game than add this sort of thing to the game for the small percentage of people who want it…and it is a small percentage.

In every game that offers it, people eventually end up moving to PVe servers, and don’t bother with PvP servers. There’ll be a couple of PvP servers but almost all of them will be Pve.

I don’t see why Anet should spent their resources. Once they make that server, it has to be maintained and then people will start complaining about specific issues…not a great idea.

How do you reach those conclusions?
40% of the servers on WoW are PvP servers.
43 out of 50 of the top EU servers are PvP.
38 out of 50 of the top US servers are PvP.

These are figures that are readily available for anyone to see. Unless you have a reason to suspect that the Guild Wars 2 playing population has a completely different bias regarding PvP I don’t really see how you can maintain you assertions that it is a small percentage of people that want it.

And again, if something like this where to be implemented in would have to be on a specific PvP server. It would not affect the PvE-only player in any way shape or form.

It would be a lot smarter to say that GW2 doesn’t have factions and as such doesn’t support this type of gameplay, although if they wanted to implement it they could go with something like the Luxon/Kurzick factions in GW1.

I for one never ganked anyone in the sense that I’ve never went with a high level character into a low level area to hunt, but how I miss being ganked while fighting a mob and then proceding to kill the mob and kill the ganker, or many times dyeing to the ganker, but that would be alright as well, that was what I signed up for when I rolled into a PvP server.
Or how I miss when a battle between 2 people would grow into massive impromptu battles between 100-200 people.
Small things like you knowing that because guild [xyz] always ganks and camps, so every time you see a group of them you make sure to organize a group of your own faction to chase them away and protect lower level areas.
Every one starts kittening about low level gankers every time one of these threads comes up, but no one seems to remember the loads of people that went with their high levels characters and patrolled and protected these areas.
Overall I just feel that a PvP server by it’s very nature encourages a more close knit community. We might hate each other in some cases, but at least we interact with one another.

And no, WvW is not the same thing.

Exotic karma gear you gear you get in Orr from the temple vendors

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_armor_sets#Exotic_Karma_armor_sets

Exotic gear doesn’t suck, the only thing better than exotic is ascended but that is just for amulets / rings / earrings at the moment.

It doesn’t matter where it originally came from, all exotic gear has the same level of stats on it. What changes are the skins (how it looks) and the combination of stats on it (beserker, soldier, explorer, etc…)
You have to decide what stats work better for your character and play style. After you’ve made that decision you can either get it crafted and then work for the skin (look) you want and transmute it, or if you don’t care how it looks just aim straight for the combination of stats that you desire.
You will probably get a better response to what type of gear you should be aiming towards in the necromancer forums.
Hope that helped.

Btw, for everyone that was forced already to buy them, how exactly do they make you do it?

Do they threaten to delete one of your characters? Do they threaten to delete your account? Do they limit you bandwidth and make the game unplayable?

What exactly is the method that those evil doers are using to force you to buy those keys?

Force: as in, if you want these items, you are forced to gamble for them. This is obvious what I meant, you know it is, yet you decided to make a stupid post claiming outlandish things that aren’t related to what I said. You know kitten well what I meant.

Yeup I have to agree with you. I’m not a mini-pet guy but I feel bad for those people at x-mas who had to use gamble chests to try and get their minis, which were acct bnd so even if a friend got extras he couldn’t give them away.

In a game with cosmetic items being the priority, it’s kind of a low blow they are taking advantage of people like that.

PS. to the guy he quoted above, you’re an idiot.

Now now, you’re not being very nice!
So, I’m an idiot because I’ve got no problem understanding the concept of gambling for an item?
Do you also kitten at fairs because you can’t just buy the cuddly toy but have to buy the ticket for the raffle?
If you want that particular shiny jump through the assigned hoops. If you’re not ok with jumping through the hoops, move along and stop kittening that you can’t have the shiny.

Would really like to see at least one interesting skin being added for armorsmiths, leatherworkers and tailors. Some interesting weapon skins would be a welcome addition as well.
But I feel that they should be same difficulty/expense as corrupted weapons atm, so as to give them some sort of “prestige”.

Also, why do all gladiator armor has to share the same skin throughout every level? We have different “themes” for weaponsmith/artificer/huntsman, why do armors all have to look exactly the same no mater what level they are?

If I insulted you in any way, I apologize.

Speaking from personal experience, my first 80 was a mesmer, my second 80 a guardian.
I found the guardian a lot easier. It helped that I was leveling armorsmithing on him and had him always with green / rare quality armor.

It seems that you dislike doing the heart guys, but you should really try and do them, as they allow you to get green quality armor / weapons, which makes it a lot cheaper than constantly buying it off the TP. If you have some spare gold I would definitely advise you to train armorsmith/weaponsmith on your guardian. It will help to get gear through the levels, you gain some experience from crafting, and you can make a tidy profit along the way if you bother to do the heart guys and get the karma recipes.

To level I did lots of hearts and a great deal of events. In my personal experience there where very few that I couldn’t finish even when there was nobody else around. If there where a champion mob it would definitely make it a lot more difficult if not impossible, but there are enough events in the game that I could easily skip those ones and move on to a more forgiving one.

Can I ask you in what server / region you play?

On EU, Desolation is usually good for guesting and my own Piken Square, although a medium pop server is usually well populated in almost every area. I’ve been able to do events even at unlikely hours like 4am. From what I ear Tarnished Coast is a good server to guest if you are from NA.

Hope that helped you.

Dawn price back ad 690 g agen

in Black Lion Trading Co

Ooshi.8607

You missed his point.

In other games, you have time limits, generally 24-48 hours. If you don’t price your item where you think it will sell within that time period, you lose your deposit and have to list again (at a new deposit). Thus a bigger gold sink if you misprice, and more incentive to either price competitively or not list at all.

In GW2, you can price things whatever you want because you are not at risk of not selling the item within a time limit. If I get a sword that is selling for 100g but I think somewhere down the line it might sell for 200g, I can put it up for 200g and forget it forever. I will never lose my listing fee or have to worry about relisting it. And maybe 4 months down the road it will sell, maybe 6 months. Maybe never. But you never have to think about “will this honestly sell in x time frame or will I be out my listing fee?”

You are still loosing a lot of money that way! You are in fact renting storage for a potential exorbitant amount.
If in your example he was reasonable in his sell price, that money could have been quickly reinvested. As an experiment roughly a month ago I started a character with 5 gold, and mainly through crafting have 75 gold at the moment on that character.
So I would say that in your example and if the same trades where available he would have “paid” 1500g for having that item “stored” at the TP.

What nefarious TP activity are we trying to hit with these measures?

Can you do WvsW at level 2? Check
Can you do sPvP at level 2? Check
Can you level through crafting? Check
Can you gear a new level 80 character with full exotics as soon as it hits 80? Check

So, let me get this straight, you are asking for one of the fundamental things that makes this a RPG to be done with. As soon as you create your character you are 80 with no way to improve your character.

This idea is pure rubbish! What about the likes of us with chronic biweekly finger arthritis that can only log when the outside temperature is between 21c-25c? This system clearly favors all you “no lifers” that can log in every week…
They could call this system a monthly or whatever….

This idea is pure rubbish! What about us that are on tour in Iraq and Afghanistan and that have to stay away from home for six months at a time? Why should we be punished by Anet for defending our country while all you no-lifers that can log in every month should push ahead of all of us?
They should have a system where you would be able to do you dailies in tiers all the way up to a year, it’s the only way to be fair to a substantial minority of the gaming population….

Dailies were a bad idea, should have been a weekly with 7 tiers, where each tier gives you the same reward as a daily. This way if you play for 7 days 1-2 hours per day you can get the weekly done and get the 7 laurels, and if you play 3 days 8 hours per day, you can still get the 7 laurels.

You get XP from crafting as you go along. After you hit lvl400 you stop getting any XP from crafting. If you want to continue leveling through crafting you have to do it on a prof that isn’t at lvl400

Why can't you make money through crafting?
