TP market is global, you have a lot more potential customers, but also have a lot more competitors. There isn’t any craftable item that is essential, but i find that the market provides a healthy return for my investment.

Ooshi.8607

All I am saying is waiting around for a group to do a dungeon (especially Arah) is not fun at all.

Just as we can Queue up for a sPVP match, we should be able to do this for the dungeons.

I just think it is the most friendly option and waiting around stinks… we can all agree on that.

If you disagree, please explain how it would ‘ruin’ the game. Social reasons, RP reasons don’t hold a lot of water with me, but feel free to go that route if you would like.

So how do you finish a dungeon if there will be 5 random glassy players with no support or heal or cc just full p\p\c rare gear?
LFG system requires strict roles which we dont have in this game.

Same way as you do, just a bit faster :P
Or as most people would be running magic find gear probably considerably slower.
TBH not a fan of the idea, Anet should definitely get us proper LFG tools instead of having to rely on gw2lfg.com, but i wouldn’t want it to be automated. It’s good to have the option to get a balanced party going, or having the option to avoid running with a certain player for whatever reason you may choose,

I’m exposed to enough drama in real life, I’d rather not experience it in game.

GG! Drama makes you feel fun!

Nope, I don’t think this is the right game for you if that’s your attitude. It’s not a bad thing to want these features, but this game was not marketed that way and probably won’t change.

I mean, the name of this game is “Guildwars”. It is not making sense that guild cant not fight other guilds at least. we suppose to fight other guild, or people, instead fighting zhaitan!

Guild wars had to do with lore, not with the players doing guild vs guild.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Timeline

Or was the franchise called Guild Wars because that was the principal type of PvP in GW1, the one that Anet organized tournaments with real money prizes and that they hoped would develop in to a popular E-Sport, and then made up some “lore” to tie it in the story?
Seems a pretty stupid name if it was just because of the “lore” as they could have gone for something like “Shiro’s Daggers” 1 & 2 or “The adventures of Gwen” or anything that didn’t leave the impression that it could well be a game mechanic.

maybe they should change daily to weekly and reward 7 laurel for it. Some people can’t play 30 minutes a day every day. But they may be able to play acouple hours a week.

What about all those people that can only play every other week? Shouldn’t they be given the same opportunities? And what about people that have to travel a lot and can only play every 2 months? Shouldn’t they be able to get same laurels as well? After all this is supposed to be a casual game? I’m pretty sure there’s a guy out there that can only play on the 29th of February between 6pm and 7pm, shouldn’t he have the opportunity to get the best gear as well?

I’m really surprised by these deserted servers. I’ve played in Piken Square (EU) since I started and it’s always been a medium populated server (there isn’t low populated servers in EU) and you can always meet other players everywhere I go. Even when I have my bouts of insomnia and decide to play through the night I still see people doing events. Sometimes I will go into an area and there will be some time before I meet another player but it’s very rare not to find at least another player in the map.

Why there isn't Fruit Trees?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Because GW2 crafting is not developed to be meaningful, profitable, or just plain fun. Gw2 crafting is for XP, and to make your legendary (in a very directed way). Could be why there are no beautiful trees to harvest?

Not profitable? You’re not doing it right!
Certainly now as mindless as TBC and WotLK WoW where if you where a jeweler you only had to buy ores in AH, get jewels, craft and then profit.
The market is global which means you have a lot more potential customers but a lot more competitors. You have to be a lot smarter about how and what you craft. Find a few niches, explore them while they are profitable, keep your eyes open for the next opportunity.

See where the bigger margins are. Order mats.
Check what is the daily.
Decide if I’m gonna do it on mesmer (80), Guadian (43) or Warrior (40).
Complete daily.
Check TP to see if got everything ordered. If so, craft ???, put on TP, profit.
Decide if I want to level one of the alts or work on map completion on mesmer.
Might do some hot-joins in sPVP with mesmer (only rank 6).

My Main Gripe With GW2: Dead Skills Bars

So you want utility skills (like crippling shot) to do more damage in addition to providing that utility?

Since in so many situations said utility is of no use, yes. No matter how easy the encounter its no fun to just stare at your character autoattack with minimal input. GW2 is wonderfully designed in situations where you face the risk of death. With dodging and all the different boons and conditions you can apply it is rather well designed.

The problem is you aren’t always in SPVP, a dungeon, or the most difficult of events. The act of doing damage in ordinary scenarios should be more than simply activating autoattack and the occasional skill that is actually worth using.

If you are only using auto-attack you are doing it wrong and need to L2P. Crippling shot is there to either prevent the mob of getting near you or to prevent the mob from getting away. Rifle skills are fine.
Anyway, aren’t you supposed to be using a greatsword?

While I don’t have time for kitten in game, helpful advice is always welcome. None of us started knowing everything and as a rule I don’t mind going out of my way to explain something to a new or even not so new player.
But I also think that it’s the responsibility of each and every one of us to research a bit about the classes we are playing or the dungeon bosses abilities, or at the very least ask about class/dungeon mechanics. I can easily play with someone that is not perfect but has the will to improve than with someone that either doesn’t care or thinks that they already learned everything there is to learn.
Damage meters, add-ons or inspect features are just tools that give you information. What you do with it is up to you. You can use it to discriminate against other players or you can use it to improve yourself and help others improve themselves.

Your top 3 desired races?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ooshi.8607

Ooshi.8607

I will not speak of over-sized chickens, no polar bears in drag or underwater Forest Gump lookalikes.
I will state why the Skritt should be the new playable race.

Every intelligent person among us will surely recognise the fact that Asura are the superior race in Tyria. This is not only due to their OP cuteness, but because the world of Tyria is evidently built with someone with the correct anatomical size in mind. The Skritt would give us another choice at playing a correctly sized individual. Not only that, if you look closely next time you speak with a skritt take a closer look at his smile. Tell me that is not even cutter than the cutest asura.
Secondly, skritt got tails. Only the Charr have got tails. Everyone knows that tails are OP. If like most people you want to have a character with a nice beautiful tail, but would not like to play a charr because they are anatomically challenged, then skritt are the way forward.
My final reason is that clearly the Skritt were just made for co-op play. Sometimes I feel that Guild Wars doesn’t give you enough reasons to group. Can you imagine a horde of Skritt just going forth in Tyria just shouting at the top of their perfectly sized lungs:

- Guarding! Guarding! Guarding.
- Hey stinky feet. Got shiny for me?
- Yes shiny? No shiny?
- You smell funny.

My two cents:

A big “NO” to inspecting gear. Every other MMO has that feature. If I want to inspect people, I’ll play those games.

Please try to keep GW2 different from other MMO’s; even if you’ve already started down the slippery WoW-clone slope, it’s not too late to stop.

The "Inspect Gear" Discussion.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ooshi.8607

Ooshi.8607

It’s different, you want others to play the way you want.
You want to check their gear/spec to see if they are playing your way, and GW2 does not support that kind of mentality.

You know what? Just ask people to ping their gear.
Inspect is already in, it’s just a 2-way thing now as it should be.

Wouldn’t the other people in group had to pass the “gear check” and be in full agreement with the conditions? If they were in disagreement they could simply reform the group with the odd geared person. Why should the right of one person to play the way they want be more important that the same right of 4 other people?

Why not go a step further? Without a currency you wouldn’t need the TP. Just have a NPC at each major town where you can collect the materials you need. We could add another one where you could choose the weapon you desire, and a third one where you could get the armor you fancy. We could have extra special armor that would only be obtainable just outside the dungeons.
In guild wars 1 I lost count of the amount of rare skins that went straight to the vendor cause I refused to stand in Kaineng shouting WTS XYZ. The best thing they included in GW2 was the TP. I can sell my unwanted stuff quickly, and can get stuff I need imediately. I benefit as a buyer and as a seller.

What happened to the no grind philosophy?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ooshi.8607

Ooshi.8607

They listened to the forum. This forum has a vocal minority of grinders, farmers, addicts and exploiters who do not understand the concept of playing a game in order to have fun, and who need something to give them their grindy fix. ArenaNet should have ignored them and listened to their real playerbase, but the fact they were (and are) very vocal together with the typical loss of players seen a few weeks after a new MMO has been released made ArenaNet panic.

So, my suggestion to you is: keep posting in this forum how much against this kind of thing you are. I was hoping ArenaNet would understand how obnoxious the most vocal part of the forum community is and don’t listen to most people here, but it appears they are willing to listen to the vocal minority to the detriment of the game – which, to be honest, they also did in GW1.

Translation: Anet should listen to me and me alone! I alone am a real fan and play the game as it was intended. All the other players that don’t conform to my views are doing it wrong. I will continue to kitten about it and make posts until Anet does what I want.

We already had dozens of threads with people kittening that the current model didn’t reward them for playing the way they want, can you imagine the kittenfest it would be if your idea was implemented?

Completely agree with the OP! How dare they make me run dungeons when I hate dungeons? Who started with this “dungeon” thing in MMOs anyway, they’re completely lame.
Always requiring me to do stuff I don’t like. WvsW, fractals, dungeons, crafting, what next? I play for FUN!!!!! And if I don’t find doing dungeons or WvsW FUN, they should not make me do it!!!!!!!
Worst thing is that this making people do stuff that is not fun is spilling out into the real world!!!!!! Just the other week some guy (think it was Anet employee for sure!) was organizing a “FUN” marathon. I went there and said I wanted my medal, and he said I had to run all that way. I tried to explain that it wasn’t fun and that I deserve a medal, wasn’t I there? If other people like running let them run and get their medals, but I should have medal as well cause I was there and running isn’t FUN!!!!!
You have to stand up to these people or else soon enough every thing will be like this!!!!!
You will have to do whatever someone decides is “FUN” and they won’t give you any medals!!!!!!!

You guys realize that in most MMOs that have open world PvP there are servers that are exclusively PvE. Unfortunately GW doesn’t have world PvP which is a shame as it makes the world 100x more alive.
And just so you know, even on a PvP server, the majority of players don’t hang around low level areas ganking. Ganking low levels isn’t PvP or even fun, unless you’re a bit sadistic.

Still, I actually think engineer is one of the more “fun” classes to play out there. It does have it’s goofy skills and charms. I think engineers are not the “killing machines” like the thieves and mesmers but I do get good laughs here and there while playing it. Especially the mini-finishers in PvP/ WvW. But really, if you are playing for fun and doesn’t care too much about being competitive, I think you should give it a try.

Mesmer doesn’t really feel powerful until you go into sPVP. Leveling one is harder than warrior, guardian or elementalist. Don’t know about the other classes as don’t have alts from them.
I’ve been intrigued by engineers for ages now, rolled and engineer twice already and played him each time till level 10. Get a bit frustrated when reading the forums seems like the profession has got no future, but every time I see a engineer either in the open world or even in sPVP there’s always this same thought that goes through my mind: That class looks awesome! You know what, think I’m definitely gonna roll one and keep him, it just seems too fun not to.

The thing that does strike me, some armour is really ugly, especially the human female, and the terrible colours and colour combinations some of you guys choose, pink, really, on a big brave warrior, come on, have you not got girlfriends/wives.

Just because it’s big and spicky, or your weapon is big and flashy, doesn’t make you any more powerful or stronger really, transmuted starter armour can have the same stats.

Tl;DR……… I take no notice of what your wearing, your colour choices are disgusting.

What exactly is the colour of bravery? What about the colour of courage? Did you know that pink originally was the boy’s colour as it was considered a stronger colour, more masculine than blue? What’s with the colour fascism?

Maybe I’m missing something as I don’t even have a character at level 80 (my highest is a mesmer at 63), but I find that making money comes very very easily in this game.
You get equipment with karma from doing the hearth quests, if you feel there is a piece of equipment that you really need you can always buy it on the TP, everything is dirt cheap. If you are leveling a crafting profession, I know they are supposed to be a money sink, but i’ve actually made some money while leveling mine.
If you don’t want to indulge in the old buy cheap sell high TP game, there are loads of opportunities to do money through crafting if you take the time to investigate where the opportunities are. Maybe things will change at 80 but gold is definitely not a problem at the moment, and I can even afford to get my various alts with rare weapons for their appropriate levels.

Damage Meter

in Suggestions

Posted by: Ooshi.8607

Ooshi.8607

I would absolutly love to have damage meters. It is a great tool to measure yourself against others or just against yourself. Now you don’t really have a way of knowing if the slight changes that you’ve done on your build helping or hindering you. You’ve got no way of knowing if those same mobs are dying faster on your shatter mesmer or on your double axe/greatsword warrior. It all depends on “feeling” if something is working better or not.
Accountability is never a bad thing. And the same people that are rude/obnoxious in a dungeon if you are low on dps are the same people that now are rude/obnoxious for some other reason.
Guild Wars I didn’t have damage meters, but mesmers still had trouble finding a PvE group, because they were perceived not to bring as much to a party. If that perception was based on fact I do not know, but if we had damage meters then we could either prove the assumptions wrong or lobby the developers for a buff for the class with hard numbers to back it up.
I can see why the developers wouldn’t want damage meters ingame, as i’m pretty sure if there were thousands of posts on the forums with screenshots of recount for a couple classes, something would have to be done about it.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ooshi.8607

If WvW maps were part of the world, why can’t we see it on the map when you’re in Tyria. They are instances, like dungeons. Dungeons don’t count for the world completion, WvW maps shouldn’t either.

They aren’t part of Tyria.

If WvW doesn’t belong to the world why do you get all of the bonuses won in WvW all the times that you kill a mob, gather a resource, craft a item or heal some damage?

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Power_of_the_Mists

WvW is designed to be interconnected with PvE. The requirement of having to complete the WvW maps to get your map completion is there to encourage you to partake in that activity. If you feel that WvW is not enjoyable do not partake in it.
You do not need to have that golden start. If you are not prepared to do everything it takes in order to complete it you don’t deserve the achievement.
