Where can you see new patch notes?
Thats ground targeting, not aoe tab target. All that does is put the aoe spell wherever your mouse is instantly. That does not work because my mouse just floats around the map while I move the camera and character with my joy sticks.
I am actually content with the way this game is set up, I just dont want to run the same dungeon 100 times to get the armor I want.
There is a story mode, and 3 explorable options. If i run all three.. I feel like I should have my armor set. Remove the grind and I am good, followed by regular expansions.
I really wish this was an option in the game. Just so you know I play with a controller, and everything works really fluid except for one thing. When I bring of an AoE ability, the right joystick is stuck in combat mode and wont move the AoE target around the map.
I have to switch to my mouse really quick, drop the aoe and then back to my controller. So rather then dealing with the hassle, I just avoid aoe spells of any kind. But what I would really love, is an option where my AoE spells will just simply trigger around whatever monster I have targeted.
Basically if I see 5 skritts all standing together, and I tab target the middle one and fire arrow volley, just have the skritt I have targetting as the center of the aoe, and the skill does its effect around him.
Thoughts?
You might be joking but there might be truth to it as well. There are several staff members who play WoW, its not like its against the rules or anything.
I somehow doubt they let it effect their job at gw2 though.
73 Ranger – 8/10
Need to rework the pet system in this game. Theres only 12 pets to choose from, and only the bear is actually useful. The rest die in one hit so yeah. Theres also no evolution that was promised.
Secondly, they need to add some love to other builds such as an Axe user. 99% of rangers out there are either using a short bow or a long bow with conditional builds. I am the only Ranger/Torch player I have ever seen outside of level 1.
Anyone else feel like there is a lack of pets. Sure there appears to be a great amount, but its really just all smoke and mirrors. When it comes down to it.. theres really only 9 land pets, and 3 water pets.
12 pets to choose from in a 2012 game.. come on now. thats super nintendo status…
So as far as I can tell there is only one trait that helps out an axe user, which is honed axes. Gives 10% bonus damage. That sounds ok, but meh.
What I really want is an increase to the bounces. Give me a trait spec that allows my axe attack to bounce up to 5 times.
Also on a side now, ranger really needs an attack speed trait. Everything besides the short bow is just sokittenslow unless you pop your steroid, but thats down quite often and inhibits healing so meh.
Here was my issue. I have tried a number of builds, pretty much focused on my ranger himself. Tried condition build, power build, crit build, even went a tank build for myself. In all of those builds my pet always kept aggro, and of course, he died fairly easy as well. I would just summon my second pet, and he would instantly take aggro.
So I figured, how about I make a full pet build. So I remade my character, and went full pet build. In the end I came out with 2 sets of natural regen for my pet, he gains hp on crit, my crits give him bonus damage, he gains stability/defense whenever he gets hit by a debuff, I have troll urgent standing by incase his hp goes down, as well as rampage as one for fighting mass mobs.
I will be real here, I never seen my pet go below 75% hp (using bears of course). I even completed a [group event] by myself, and my bear was able to completely tank the champion mob while I just hid on the side attacking away. Now the problem is, my pet is sokittentanky, neigh unkillable, but he no longer tanks.
He can not keep aggro for anything, I never had the issue before, but now one or two hits and all the mobs come flying at me, all except for that one champion monster, but any regular mobs and they are instantly all over me. Whats the point of having a super pet, if he wont tank for me. Not to mention my pet is hitting for a good 900 damage, while I am only dishing out 150. So he is the dps and the tank, I am just back up.
I swapped to using Axe/Torch with a Murellow, and it worked great on paper. He uses AoE poison cloud, I drop fire ring, throw split axes, and we dot them up with poison, fire, bleed, and ice. Not to mention my axes hit 3 targets at a time, so its even better.
But like I said.. he would not hold aggro at all, so I respeced again. Went back to a power/crit build, and hes mysteriously holding aggro.. so wtf..
Wait can someone enlighten me, what do you mean they are adding tokens to dungeon runs, and changing tokens?
the first thing that comes to mind when you say this is:
1. Will get tokens from completing story mode.
2. Tokens will be standard, and any tokens from any dungeon can be combined and used at any dungeon vendor.
Is this correct or am I totally misunderstanding you?
Yeah I read that somewhere too. Anet is 100% against add ons and whats the game played the way they made it. Full control on their part. Anyone caught using add ons is instantly terminated.
Which kind of sucks, because I have read about some interesting add ons people had in mind, or actually have made that would make this game so much better.
Heres to hoping Anet changes its mind. Add on support would be good.
I feel like the dungeons are holding this game back. They feel overly difficult with less then desired rewards. Not to mention I see almost no point in running explorer mode on any of the dungeons so far either. So here is how I would change dungeons, of course you dont have to agree, I am interested in your opinions as well.
1. Remove down scaling from dungeons. I love it in the rest of the game, but I feel like dungeons constantly give me that under powered feeling. No matter how high my level is, or how good my gear gets, I still get rocked in dungeons. Dungeons are that one place I want to feel OP.
2. Explorer Mode – Make all 3 paths completely separate. It seems like 75% of the dungeon is just the exact same thing, with a different ending boss. There is not much exploration in that. I want a full new story, as well as mini bosses along the way.
3. Scripted/Interactive Battles – I feel like most of the mini bosses, and regular bosses are just me standing there spamming skills, maybe a dodge here or there, but theres nothing spectacular. Theres no sense of accomplishment other then knowing I just drained a bajillion hp pool. I want some scripted events in the boss fights, some lever pulling, cannons, turrets, heaven forbid some kind of mounts. Just some kind of triggered effects that make the boss battles more engaging.
4. POI Rewards. What are they even there for.. they dont count towards anything..
5. Better Waypoint Locations – I feel like every dungeon does this wrong. The way points always seem misplaced, requiring you to spend 5 minutes running back across the map, usually through traps, or some other thing that could potentially kill you again.
I understand you dont want instant respawning on the boss, so how about you just make it so thats not possible? Throw up force fields or invisible walls, or hell even close the boss arena door so that if you go down, you either have to be revived,or hope your team pulls it off.
These are just my thoughts, what are yours?
Well I would try Tera but I heard that game was a major flop so. Also for the guy criticizing the darksiders combat, I guess I did not share your frustrations at all because I used a controller, just like I use a controller for GW2.
That video looks awesome. The bast part about it – no right click enabled haha!
1. Remove right clicking.
2. Rework to 100% rewards. I put in all the effort I want items my character can use.
3. Pet Evolution. Why does my level 80 pet look like my level 1 pet?
4. Ability to tame any pet I choose, rather then the 5 or so they give us now.
5. A true fix for all the broken events in the game. I am not sure why they keep randomly breaking.
6. Cheaper/Standardized Waypoint cost rework.
7. A real bot killer solution, not one that ruins the gameplay for players more then it does bots.
Well I never once stated “this is how everyone feels” or tried to push my opinion on anyone. I do enjoy guild wars. I have been playing as much as I can since release, however that does not mean there is not room for improvement or change.
I was just simply saying, I like where guild wars 2 combat is going.. or rather could go. Making it an action style mmo, with dodge/evade mechanics is great. For me though, I would love a faster style, with unlimited dodge potential.
What other game do you wish Guild Wars 2 combat system was like? For me I would have to say Darksiders 1 and 2. Gw2 is on the right track, but not quite as fluid and fast paced as the darksiders games.
The inclusion of a stamina bar, and slower style game play is what holds it back. In darksiders the mobs are constantly on you, swinging, casting spells non-stop, and thus you have an infinite stamina bar in which you much choose to either evade, or attack. Combining the two with good timing is how you effectively beat those games and its harder challenges. Not to mention boss fights, particularly darksiders 1 all have a unique feel and theme to them. I wish Gw2 was more like that system.
Runner Up: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning – Also nice fluid combat system.
Also, I can hook you up with my guild if you want to join us. We have a facebook website, regular website, ventrilo, about 25 members, only seem to be 5-8 really active guys though. They are always willing to help when they are on though.
Sorrows Furnace is pretty weak in population. I seldom cross paths with others. If i call out for help on events usually only 2-3 people manage to show up. I have had decent luck in dungeons so far, as far as parties go.
However, if you come here dont expect to win WvW, we seem to get rofl stomped every match up. We just dont have the required amount of players to run against the servers they put us on. The other teams seem to always have 500 man teams on day and night, our side has like 200 during peak haha.
How many times did you do said event?
Well I do get your point, that respawn timers are a bit excessive, and there are some places that require multiple people to complete. However, for that particular place all I can say is get stronger haha. I soloed the area, completing 100% with no help from friends, guild, or randoms.
Well that would be me lol. I am alot weaker then my pet now. Anyways just wanted to give a quick update. Still having the aggro problems.
However, I triggered a group event, and fought a champion monster by myself. My bear was able to hold aggro and stay alive the entire fight. I was quite impressed. So.. still having problems with normal mobs, but it seems powerful champions and bosses wont be an issue.
So I just changed my build, and now I am getting completely focused by mobs, instead of my pet. Prior to my change, my pet always tanked (not very well) but he still kept all the aggro somehow. Now with my new build, pets ignore him completely and gun straight for me, even if I use F1 and send my pet in and do not attack at all myself, they dash right past him, and into me.
Can anyone tell me what I seemed to have changed here?
Old Build:
Weapon – Short Bow
Skills – Quickening Zephyr, Signet of Renewal, Signet of the Wild, Entangle.
Traits – 30 Points Marksmanship/Power = Predator’s Instinct, Piercing Arrows, Remorseless.
30 Points Wilderness Survival/Toughness = Wilderness Knowledge, Hide in plain Sight, Bark Skin.
New Build:
Weapon: Axe/Torch
Skills: Quickening Zephyr, Signet of Renewal, Signet of the Wild, Rampage as One.
Traits: 30 Points Beastmastery/Pet Attribute = Master’s Bond, Stability Training, Natural Healing.
30 Points Skirmishing/Precision = Companions Might, Carnivorous Appetite, Honed Axes.
So basically I switched from a conditional bleed build, to a tank build. Before my pet would keep all the aggro, but could not tank very long, nor provided much additional damage.
Now I have my pet set up that he has 2 forms of natural regen, health gain on crits, he deals 3 times my damage, crits often, and I honestly have not seen him drop below 90% health yet. The problem is, after about 3 attacks all the monsters charge in on me.
So can anyone explain what went wrong here?
I am inclined to agree. I really wish I got items directed towards my character class, and not others. I have actually completed about 70% of the map 100% so far, and have yet to get a single item for my character. I typically get heavy gear for some reason.. I am a ranger.
For one simple reason: Better/Structured Dungeons.
My friend said guild wars 2 is a pretty good game, and made a lot of improvements, but the one thing that WoW has that he loves is what he called Structured Dungeons. Particularly the boss fights. He said they are not just “large hp pools” that drag on for 30 minutes.
There is technique, and design that must be done to defeat bosses other then just whacking away. Using intractable things like cannons, vehicles, and trap switches.
Now I never played wow and dont intend to, but that does sound pretty neat to me. I wish my friend would come play Gw2 with me, but he refuses until they “polish” the game he says, and create good dungeons, not just zerg rushes.
Harpys – Not that they were any real trouble, I just hate that every time you fight one, they end up flying into the air and becoming invulnerable for a good 5 seconds.
It makes the fights with them drag on longer then need be.
I pretty much agree with all of this. These kinds of things dont exactly come to mind when I am making my own list, but when I read them they make total sense.
Oh sweet Jesus crafting just got so good. I love that every item is in the discovery tab now. Its making my time spent at the chef table much more desirable.
This is why I dont get the people who are farming the same event over and over. I asked why and they told me because it was easy experience and they would get to 80 faster lol..
Yeah jewel crafting seems significantly less taxing then cooking. Cooking goes like this.
1. 101 Basic Ingredients (potato, tomato, lettuce, red meat, ect)
2. 45 Advanced Ingredients (pasta noodles, pie filling, dough, piles of seasoning, ect)
3. 60 Base Meals (cinnamon apple, bowls of soup, breads, ect)
4. Crap Load of Advanced Meals (fruit bars, cakes, stir fries, hamburgers, ect)
5. 24 Dye Types (Which total 301 total I believe)
Needless to say there is hundreds of inventory slots required to hold each ingredient both basic and advanced. Not to mention the hundreds of slots required to hold the actual meals you make.
There simply is not enough room with the current system. So I am really pulling for them to switch discovery to completely be from the deposit tab.
Well I get what you are saying, but this is not true for cooking. In cooking we dont use runes or insignias. We do have rare crafting materials that take a bank slot or inventory slot.
However, what I am talking about is basic crafting ingredients. Say lettece, or tomato. I am still being required to move them into my inventory slot for them to appear in my discovery tab.
I could of swore I read that they updated crafting to allow you to do discovery straight from your deposits bag, but this does not seem to be true, at least for cooking.
I am still required to move all required items into my inventory, to be able to place them into the discovery tab.. whats the deal. Am I missing something here?
Is there a way to turn off the “Are you sure” message? Every time I try to salvage anything that has a rune on it, or a special effect I get this message. I have to click yet, then reload my salvage kit, it gets really frustrating at higher levels when most of what I find comes with built in runes and such.
So can I turn it off anywhere, or is there some kind of shift command or something available to auto through it?
Because you did not buy the expansion: Guild Wars Primordus.
Content Released:
1. New playable race: Tengu
2. New playable areas include Crystal Desert, and Ring of Fire.
3. New playable class: The Mimic who copies slayed enemy forms and abilities while wielding twin chalk-rams.
4. New playable dungeon: Wizard’s Tower in Kessex Hills feat. the boss Isgarren.
That is all I can reveal for now, hope I answered your question.
For the love of mercy, please add a stay logged in option to the forums. I know I seen a staff member say they currently had no plans, but I am sure someone can come up with something.
Its honestly just so annoying having to log in every time I come here. Its 2012 for crying out loud, I have not seen a website that did not offer a stay logged in option in like a decade.
Dynamic events do not bother me at all really. I roam the map going from heart to heart to vista to point of interest, and I seldom, almost never in fact, cross the same area twice. I usually do whatever events pop up in my area, and I dont see them again. Maybe you should try moving on, or simply dont do the event because its not required .
Also, I do agree events can be a bit tough solo, at least some events. However, events do scale based on the number of people in the area. Aside from a few huge boss fights like the fire elemental, and some dragons.. most can be done with just a few people. Try typing in /map that there is an event and ping the map into the text, people always show up for me.
Lastly, the story does not bother me either. I actually really enjoy the story and enjoy it the most about the game. I guess I just cant relate there. Matter of opinion i guess.
Oh yeah, not to mention its difficult if you dont have enough room when you can use a tomato in 15 different things, but your unsure what those 15 things are, so you have 2 of the other ingredients but not the 4th… so ur trying to switch items back and forth to find your missing item. Its a pain.
I heard in game they are planning to update crafting, to allow discovery straight from your deposit crafting materials bank. Please tell me this is true?
Right now chef has 101 basic materials, another 30+ advanced ingredients, not to mention several of the foods themselves can be upgrade even further into new foods.
Basically there is just not enough bag space in the game to let you put all 200+ required ingredients/foods in your inventory to use the discovery option freely.
If they allowed you to discover straight from your bank, it would make life so much easier.
There is a lot more uses for butter then there is bread!
Anyone else feel like running dungeons is a bit of a pain, in fact almost redundant? I love the down scaling in the game, it keeps everything fresh and interesting no matter where I want to go, however when it comes to dungeons I really dislike it.
Dungeons just seem overly difficult at times, especially if your not running with a dedicated party. Several times now we have spent a good 2 hours tackling the dungeon, only to have some noob bail on us, or give up.
Plus at the end of the day you only get about 25 tokens per run. That seems like a small prize when the game requires hundreds, to thousands of tokens to attain a full set, weapons, and sigil sockets.
The fact that you really never get stronger is the problem. Sure you might get some better weapons and armor, but your still stuck at 35 when you run the dungeon, and its still going to be a really difficult, and its still going to take you a long time to do.
I guess I just wish dungeons worked differently then the rest of the game, either by removing level scaling, or by giving larger amounts of tokens.
Thoughts?
I agree with Eisen on this one. Cultural, Crafted, and regular Dungeon equipment are all closely the same. It just depends on which specific stat you are trying to attain, or which look you are hoping to get.
However, Dungeon armors offer a higher level tier called Exotic. Which costs a substantial amount more in tokens. The stats they offer pretty much dominate any of the other 3 kinds of armor.
You can find them by clicking on the second tab in any of the dungeon vendors at lions arch.
I completely agree with this. Unless I stand in one spot grinding the same event hundreds of times over, there is no way to get that kind of karma. I really felt they were in a good spot during release.
When I hit 35, I was able to just squeeze by and get my culture armor as well as both of my culture weapons. They served me well, but I am level 60 now.. I cant even come close to affording a single weapon.
On top of this, they dont let you do anything with culture weapons either. I cant sell them, or break them down. Seems a bit off putting.
I think rangers have it the worst. Yes we have a single target thunder bolt? but it has a large cool down on it, that is really just meant to add one second to the inevitable.
We have no invisibility or teleport of any kind, so we are insta gibbed by auto kills. All we have is a pet revive that sends your pet over to heal you.. extremely slowly I might add. We are talking about 8 regen a second, which is no where near enough to over power incoming damage.
On top of that, it has like a good 20 second charge time on it. Downed abilities really need reworked, as well as giving the insta kill ability a cool down. If you have a cool down on your interrupt, why not have on on the insta kill?
Can anyone help out?
Elementalist is probably one of the hardest classes in the game, simply due to the fact there is an overwhelming amount of skills to learn, and when to learn them.
I would recommend Necromancer, as Elementalist is difficult, and Mesmer is getting a bad rep right now. I have not heard anything too bad regarding necromancer, aside from the fact that their summons are in no way shape or form a tank, or have any survivability. My friend plays Necro and he enjoys it alot.
In the end you know what you like best, so go with that, but imo necro is a good starting caster class.
But that would just give me the same problem lol? You can target anything that is targettable with either the left mouse button or the right mouse button. I want one of them disabled so I stop randomly highlighting targets I dont want.
This is really starting to bug me lately. The harder the game gets, the more frustrated I become with right clicking. Obvioulsy you use the right click on your mouse to rotate the camera, the problem is that a lot of the times when I press it down to rotate the camera I end up clicking something and highlighting it.
This makes life frustrating when I am trying to focus down a certain enemy and I get clicked on something new. Problems I have faced because of this:
1. Aggro extra mobs while I am already having a difficult time.
2. Pet running off into lala land to fight some random mob/box/turret that I clicked in the distance.
3. Turning yellow mobs red while all im doing is trying to run by to another area.
There is a few other misc things that happen, but I think you get the jist of it. All I really want to do is turn off right click targeting/highlighting. I have the left mouse button, and tab.. dont need right click also.
Please help.
I really hope they improve this soon. Right now its really broken. Your pet names auto remove if you switch pets. You cant compare pets at all. In fact you cant even look at the stats of your other pets unless you actually equip them and have them out as your pet. So things I want to see and do:
1. Permanent Names.
2. Allow me to click on any of my pet icons and view their stats, skills, and name at will.
3. Change color pallets like I can do with my armor.
