Just found a bunch of bots from Yak’s Bend in the water at FA BL. Some of them were part of the guild Elite[ELT], Cupcakes And Butterflies[cute] and Awesome Squad[AS]. If anyone from these guilds would like to know who these guys are to deal with them, I can send you the names. Wouldn’t want these kinds of people in your guild!

Heh, I took out a bunch of FA bots on the first night I think – even the kitten bots are bandwagoning now Although they have guild names, these are likely to be hacked accounts being used by gold farmers. Guilds could kick them but they’d still be there.

Because we were a level too low and had a big victory as a result. You must have noticed that the rankings system is not great.

The ranking system is indeed very bad at moment.

However YB’s ranking in the previous weeks was:

Then suddenly the next match it jumped up 5 ranks. You must realise your server slowly dropping in rankings for over a month then suddenly surging to beat servers 2 tiers above them is not due to a sudden improvement in tactics. It’s a population shift.

WvW is not balanced well enough that tactics can make that big a difference from match to match. It’s always sudden population changes, whether you notice it yourself or not.

Your comments regarding ranking lack context. Take FA as an example – your own server jumped from rank 13 to rank 10 in the last week. Is that because the population of FA increased dramatically? More likely it is because both Dragonbrand and Erredon Terrace are dropping quickly, vacating two places in the rankings that FA and YB have now taken.

As others have said, before that, YB dropped to a lower tier after being beaten by SoR by a huge number after SoR had a lot of transfers. We then beat our opposition by over 500K points, which catapulted us up the ranks.

I do agree that coverage is the largest determining factor in WvW. This week we are beating FA because we have more oceanics. Last week we lost to CD because they have more Asians. During both of those matches, when servers were full (as judged by having queues), the scores were pretty much neck and neck (any lead was negligible). From my own perspective as an oceanic player, the number of people we have at that time has gone up but not hugely so that we have queues. I was curious about this as well and have asked elsewhere if we have had transfers but no one seems to know. If we have, it has not been large guilds but more a gradual growth. It could be that the natural population of YB has simply taken longer to get into WvW than others.

And responding to other people’s comments, the outmanned buff is not an indication of a server’s population. It is only an indication of how many people are logged into WvW.

I would personally prefer YB to grow and develop organically. The last thing I would want is for us to go down SoR’s road. So if you are a guild looking to come here, it can be a fun server – just please don’t bring all your friends and acquaintances with you

And yeah, if we make it to tier 4, it will be interesting. Yet another consequence of transfers, for us likely leading to three less than enjoyable weeks of WvW. Tier 5 for the meantime was nice and comfy.

To SF and GoM, if you can organise it, try and get everyone to go into one map (probably Eternal BG is the likely choice). If there are enough of you, you might be able to make some personal achievements and have some fun by evening out the numbers at least in that map.

As for YB letting up and pulling back, here’s a question for us: who is ready for tier 4? Personally I’d rather go to tier 5 first rather than risk bouncing between stupidly big win to stupidly big loss. http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NA

I saw a plucky group of GoM attack Longview yesterday. I was rooting for you (dancing on the ramparts) but then the YB zerg showed up. The GoM people that do show up look pretty staunch.

The last thing I want to do is preach about keeping your chins up, so maybe just some practical advice. Try stacking everyone into one map, even if it means going to the other maps to suggest swapping. A lot of the time it seems that people enter WvW in dribs and drabs and no critical mass is achieved, but if everyone goes to one map, it is more likely to happen.

Enemy siege can be destroyed. If this was indeed enemy siege and you couldn’t destroy it, then it was a bug and not done to deliberately grief people. If it was friendly siege, then you need to complain to your own side. Depending on the vista, it may well be a very advantageous place to put siege for overwatch.

I’m on Yak’s Bend and I’m embarrassed. What were you thinking posting such nonsense? Vengeance on who? I’m not sure we have ever played SF before and the people on GoM who did naughty things are unlikely to be there any more and never represented the entire server anyway – GoM sure isn’t the server it was when last we met. And why do ‘we’ deserve it? Have ‘we’ done something special other than have better coverage than our opponents?

It’s just the way the system works unfortunately, combined with a match last week that went badly for Yak’s.

-Two matches ago Yak’s came 2nd and beat Northern Shiverpeaks by a narrow margin
-Last match Yak’s came 2nd but were a long way behind 1st place in points
-Last match Northern Shiverpeaks came 2nd but the score difference wasn’t so big
-So Yak’s goes down while Northern Shiverpeaks goes up with Darkhaven who Yak’s haven’t fought since the very first week-long match.

In this match Yak’s started off a bit disorganised but then got itself together as well as we can. SF and GoM were putting up good resistance but after 5 or 6 hours it was obvious that both of your population numbers were dropping off way faster than ours, which is when things turned drastically.

But it’s early days so there might still be hope for good fights to come. Yak’s has been known to take their foot off the gas

They are on your server now, so what difference does it make? Despite all the protestations, maybe the SoR of last week is not the SoR of this week? Perhaps in the chase to go up two tiers at once a few compromises have had to be made?

any ways I have left YB because of the lack of heart and pride people in the server have. So I wish ya’s GL with your future battles.

I realise being a commander you have probably had to bear more frustration than the average pug, so I’m in no position to judge your personal decision, but it’s probably not a good idea to have a go at the server when leaving (especially while at the same time encouraging GOM to stick with it).
