It is becoming a trend for some people to only invite a specific profession for certain dungeons. (ie guardians for fotm, mes&war for CoF). This cant be healthy for the game.
Fix? i propose to quickly introduce more slot skills to boost survivability or DPS of other classes.

So you are saying that it’s stronger than traited grenade ? ( without critical attacks )
for solo, PvE & exploration = yes.
The smoke allows you to kill larger mobs (ie5-7 risen) in comparison to grenades (ie. 3-4 risen).
Grenades have the range advantage which is negligible except dungeons where bosses do 1 hit downs. Grenades are also better at stacking vulnerability, at the risk of you being more fragile.
All things considered (in pve) bombs are more efficient.

Adding new weapons are a low priority.
I sPvP a lot. Adding 12.5% damage is a bit much. Maybe 5%-7% at first.
Rifles auto attack and grenade1 is good enough as it is.
The rest: random effects should be at least rewarding 50% of the time. A duration increase perhaps.

In world PvE the things you have to look out out for are knockdown & stun.
In dungeons, some bosses can do 1 hit downs.
In random PvP, its a lot harder because you dont know the other guys playstyle. Also lag… However a lot of people open with either their strongest attacks or cripple/stun

Newsflash, children go out of their way to annoy you. Do you think a sensible adult would bother with any of this? How you are acting now, this is what they want. That said, yes they do listen (they have to at some point) but nothing implies that they have to always do things your way. As far as AoE is concerned, hopefully the nerf will only affect skills that are without a doubt imbalanced instead of blindly nerfing all AoE.

If it removes 1 condition then it will depend on the order of which they are applied. I cant remember if they are arranged left>right or right<left right now. Players usually stack cheap conditions like bleeding, poison, burn, blind on top of imobilize/ cripple to make them harder to remove.

If you choose to put Exotic weapon stats on a Legendary, the game will create an exotic weapon. That is how it works. Has always worked. Skin does not determine class of the weapon.

Actually, they are at fault, since the current transmuting stones are working as intended, as they always have. So, knowing the mechanic of transmuting stones, I would say expecting a Legendary when putting exotic stats on one is a mistake.
Lobby for a new transmuting stone for Legendary, instead of claiming that stones are somehow at fault or changing a mechanic that works for every other transmutation in game.
Yeah, technically, its the players actions therefore its their “fault” but my point is that they didnt do it by mistake. They probably just wanted a non power-toughness-vitality legendary. I didnt read all the post but i agree its not the stones fault. However there should be a way to obtain non power-toughness-vitality legendaries which this game lacks and that is Anets fault.

Even a War would get “one-hit by lup” unless he has full soldier gear so i doubt switching will make any difference.
Rifle is better in pvp… unfortunately. You can use P/P but i think its a lot harder to kill in PvP because even with high crit, their damage is too low. Of course thats only my opinion, feel free to go pistols if you think it suits you more.

I DID TEST IT. Twice i might add. I dropped a bunch of turrets and went to the loo. when i got back i was at the character screen. Second time, i was dead but still in the game. Do you actually think you are the first to think of something so simple? Have you ever considered that you aren’t the smartest person here? Another simple solution is to introduce a gemstore consumable that can change an items prefix while maintaining its rarity.
Based on your requirements, I’d use a crit+(condition on crit) rifle build. 30 firearms.
Go for the Eyes,Rifle Mod,Hair Trigger.
i’d still keep 10 points in alchemy for, Self-Regulating Defenses.
Speedy Gadgets is a must. Inertial Converter is also good in a pinch. 15 tools.
The rest (15) goes to power. Incendiary Powder.
How good you are depends more on you using the right gadget at the right time than your traits.
Rocket Boots=dps&escape
Personal Battering Ram=knockback&cripple
Slick Shoes=escape&travel
Utility Goggles=damage burst+stun break

^ this sums it up, in the 1st reply none the less. The player will be dropped after about 10 mins. Turret hits do not count towards the timer. What OP is proposing doesn’t work. Most likely the monster be able to kill 1 turret and after that the rest will fall instantly (unless you have 3 or more engineers working in together). Still, after 10 mins….
for pvp gadgets can easily replace elixirs but require a lot more practice. Consider looking into; Rocket Boots; Personal Battering Ram; Slick Shoes; Utility Goggles. You might have to abandon might stacking / boons to focus more on conditions because boons are an alchemy trait.
For PvE, you should stick to elixirs.
So you cant press F in run-by and ignore mobs that are guarding place?
This is correct. Some higher tier chests are guarded by champions. A solo character would just loot and run(or have a bot do it). In contrast, dungeon chests only apear after an objective is completed, so they dont have a “cast time”.

Is there ascended gear in sPVP? I thought it was PvE/WvW only.
Personally, I don’t feel like I “need” to get ascended – only if I want to do a lot of fractals (which I don’t). For Pve, exotics are still good enough and no one notices a 1% increase in stats in the WvW zergs.
It is Spvp only but I think it is 14% difference which is quite a lot and can make a huge difference for smaller battles or when zergs have near even numbers.
No, SPvP has its own (free) gear. You cant use your normal gear there. Ascended has no effect on SPvP.
??% difference is huge assuming you have an entire set of ascended gear. Pieces such as Chest armor, Weapons, & pants armor gives the largest bonus.
Assuming you have full Ascended gear, it does give a considerable advantage in WvWvW, but not enough to consistently take on multiple foes.

PS, i am against ascended and have never done FoTM.
It has the same problem as Lich Form: no Conditions!
Class Elite and core mechanic for the Condition class doesn’t have any attacks that reliably inflict Conditions.

At least lich form does +700 damage per normal hit and a bunch of good utility. You look pretty bada** as well, unlike Rampage/Elixir X. Umm, you can use plague if you want conditions.
Anyways, the problem is with DS. All class mechanics should be still viable regardless of your build. Guardians/Rangers/Mesmers can forcefully use their CM even if the build doesnt suport it. Necros cant because it is possible that going into DS will give you a disadvantage.

What did the engineer do to you? In fact the most “interesting” characters are elementalists and engineers because you cant mash the same button over and over to be good with them. I also suggest you try cooking.

I would like some more options for DS as well because, as it is, it contradicts my build. To my build DS is just a short period of invul for me to recharge my heal skills. Also like OP, i… F1 > 3 for fear exit, or F1 to absorb burst > exit…
Sorry, the only elite we have access to underwater is Plague.
I find underwater combat terrible in general, all the abilities I normally use are disabled so I’m forced to take minions just for the sake of ease
that’s funny because our only underwater elite kills all of our minions.
the fact that mesmer gets access to all of their minions underwater saddens me. I seriously get the feeling this game is only 60% finished sometimes.
Yup, i cant even use minions (death by my elite) and wells. so i just bring signets + Plague. Feels so wrong.
When i was playing a grenade engineer in WvWvW, i would always jump into the lake to turn the tide on attackers, because its harder to miss for me and because most people dont familiarize with underwater fights. Necros are the first profession i played which 95% of my traits are useless underwater.
Necros just dont like getting wet…

Is it me or do necros only have 1 underwater Elite Skill? The fact that wells dont work underwater doesn’t help me at all.

Yup. valor affects allies so you can run away from being “helpful” as a guardian. As for utility, more than 70% of guardian skills benefit cooperative play.
As far as learning curve (PvE), Heave armor classes have it easy. Melee light/med have it the hardest. But when you enter WvWvW, its the opposite. In dungeons, having “tanks” helps because if the foe(s) isn’t running all over the map, the DPS can focus on dealing damage.

1. Most people do bring stun break on dungeons unless they are confident with their skills and predicting bosses.

Bring a “break-stun”. how do you even “mess UP ONE TIME” when you can press this anytime to release yourself. You need to face 4 knockdown foes (not regular foes) to actually stun-lock yourself and these guys all run slower than you. I’d say you deserve to die.
My guardian is a ferry. Mace/shield, shouts and valor, full soldier gear. Applying boons heal me and remove conditions on allies. Keeps ppl alive while they do their things in PvE and gives bonuses on WvWvW. Cant kill PvP because of lack of CC and consistant damage. I can keep burning up 50% of the time with 30 points in valor and my elite. the rest of the time i can block with the heal and elite. I can also shout when im channeling block (etc) so i do that often.
Now that i got my necro to lvl80, i can use him for situations where there is too many tanks. As i mentioned ideally there should be at least 1 guardian in every party. However you cant say that having 5 is the best option.

Do you think its fair to make the assumption that i have never been to Orr, when I can predict when a brute will make a knockdown/stun swing? How many 100% explorations do you have? I have 2. 4 more on the way. I can think of worst situations than stun mobs. Please dont automatically assume you are smarter than everyone because they dont agree with you. Bomb Engineer pwns 6 risen. Shield+mace guardian pwns 4. Mesmer can decoy(stun-break) and run anytime.
How is the mechanic harming the game? All your are able to do is say “i dont want to bring any break-stuns so Anets fault” and “I dont want to learn so i shouldn’t have to”. While others adapt, you QQ and get left behind.
CoF (paths 1 and 2) is so faceroll you should only have 1 guardian, the tanky crithammer guardian.
What about SE,1&2? HotW? Arah? I used CoF because i have yet to run another dungeon with 5 guardians. I dont want to fake experiences. I’ve done SE with 3Guardians+1Warrior+1Engineer.
I corrected my self (fractals, not dungeons). I have never done fractals so i cant provide an example for that encounter. I have done CoF with 5 guardians and that took a bit longer than with random classes. Burning stacks duration but even when we maintain it 100% of the time, its overall damage is sub par compared to multiple conditions in tandem (guardians cant bleed or poison at all).
As the person above mentioned 2 guardians are more than enough to tank(trinity 1). An additional engi/ele/necro can help heal/ aoe for harder situations(trinity 2). Any remaining players should focus on DPS (trinity 3). Again, i hav never done fractals, so in some situations the presence of tankers might me more vital than DPS in certain areas.

I’m defending the game because i believe in this aspect, they did a good enough job.
Stun is always horribly OP in every game, but having stun breaks/ temporary resists pushes the game towards a more skilled based approach. It deters Pay-to-win players.
I’m always open to suggestions to improve the game however.
My preference is…
Certain. Builds. Are. Viable. In. Certain. Situations.

I dont do fractals(corrected) (i hate grinding) but you are saying the problem is with the boss, not just the class, correct?
What i’m suggesting is never have a 5 man group of the same class because most skills dont stack well.
As far as personal experience, (barring inexperienced allies) i feel that a balanced party can do better (clear faster with less deaths).
My suggestion is instead of saying Guardian is the best, we discuss what builds to carry that are more effective. I never said other classes are better than guardians, i said “its just guardians are more inclined to be either cooperative or tanky which is always good in cooperative situations.” in my first post.
Again you may have a point that certain bosses force players to “tank” or DPS, and that might be bad design on their part. We cant be sure unless we run more experiments. Dont forget recently there was a post that melee is useless, which contradicts what you are saying now.
It may even be because i lack experience as you said or i’m just like different builds.

2. Most single guardians can maintain protection/regen 80% percent of the time. Only might is stackable
3. Multiple valor spaming, because they dont stack.
In a similar situation, Warriors cant stack shouts and warbanners. Inefficient means wasted resources. Not undoable.

Edit: as far as blocking projectiles, i think guardian and mesmers have the best options. Besides that every class can block/reflect projectiles. The problem is most people dont bring those skills.

All classes can be very good in dungeons with a proper build. I think whats more important is whether you would enjoy yourself playing them. Why dont you suggest a class and we provide sample builds?
If you want to make your mesmer very good in dungeons, consider mirror image staff boon build. For your elite bring mass quickness.

I also provided 5 options to prevent stun/knockdowns. Most mobs can be killed within 15 sec so they wont have a chance to CC more than twice. Wait for the visual cue. Most Brute risen / abominations are not concentrated in 1 location, you rarely have to face more than 2 at the same time.

You also dont have to fight every Brute risen / abominations but w/e. Bringing different skills for different situations are what makes this game interesting. In a recent disappointing arpg, 1 skill beats everything, Whirlwind. If that is more your pace…

i have a engineer[main](toolkit)80, mesmer(shatter)80, Guardian(shout+valor)80, necro(condition+well)80, thief(scout)32, & warrior(sniper)21. I use my guardian and necro to run dungeons.
Im not talking about good builds. Im talking about optimized builds. You refuse to accept that theres more than 1 build for each class. And that builds can be made for specific duties. In your case (an example) carrying a pistol/poison focused thief in a party that cant poison against a boss that can heal or regen will be more valuable than a guardian. If you “refuse to adapt” and stick with your dagger, then the problem is you.
5 Guardians cant stack valor, burning, protection, etc… Try a difficult dungeon and you will understand.
