They’re trying to push players into playing all aspects of their game. I understand that and those that WvW and sPvP will be happy, but strictly sPvP players have been shafted.

What would you strictly sPvP players want for rewards? Because there is no gear progression in sPvP, there cannot be gear rewards other than cosmetics – and from what I gather nobody here gives a kitten about it. So, leaderboards that work, and what else?

30 silver for serious effort in a TPvP match is tantamount to nothing. You get more silver selling the loot for afk auto-attacking most world bosses for 2-3 minutes in PvE.

I just don’t think typing or clicking is a good enough option for communication because of how fast the gameplay is in this game. There just isn’t enough time…..unless you’re playing a PU mesmer. Voice communication for groups is a must if you want to maximize communication and for players no matter who they are to work together. It will also EXTREMELY help out players who are just beginning in sPvP because other players can give them a role and tell them how it works and communicate what to do while playing in the match. You just can’t do this in text at the beginning of the match and most new players aren’t going to tell everyone they are new so listening to what other people have to say and being guided by them with a voice comm would be incredible. It would help players improve drasticly. In my opinion, voice communication is a necessity.
Edit: I saw someone post that MMOs don’t traditionally use voice comms and that is not important. Gw2 can strive to be different like it already has and improve the competitive quality

Why should Voice communication during the match exclude the initial strategic planning on the map before the match starts? Let’s demand both. Both are great ideas to be implemented together.

We’ve got plenty of time before the match in solo/team arena starts, it would be a great time for a quick strategic planning carried out on the map itself. The leader could create a mark for every member of the team with a specific order attached to it so that all team members can see where to go and what to do.

A blue dot/mark = defend
A red dot/mark = attack
A purple dot/mark = attack and defend/hold as long as you can

Yeah, they should have a constant “crippled” debuff on themselves lollolol.

You shouldn’t be punished if you managed to assemble a nice team out your friends or guild mates. Those unorganized pugs will be punished if they choose to take a risk and play team arena instead of solo arenas. That is why both are needed.

It seems like only half of the pvp designers/devs actually plays spvp hardcore and sees what is happening in game and on forum. Then this first half is trying to convince the second half to do something, ineffectively of course. It appears that you are very passionate but only about pve and wvw.

Anet treats the in game loot like it is real. they did this in GW1 also. If you think the loot drops here stink, try running dungeons in GW1 and spend hours getting past all the mobs and defeating the boss, only to get a rare sword with horrible stats.

Dude…. dungeons in Gw1 were fantastic and full of adrenaline that is why many people, including me, didn’t pay attention to the rewards. Pure nostalgia. The rewards were varied, sometimes great and sometimes complete trash, but it was the fun of doing a dungeon with a group and a possibility of failure (unlike in gw2) that made it so exciting. I still remember doing Urgoz Warren….
Here in gw2 there is no possibility of failure, you just res back. Not to mention that you can solo AC and CoF, pathetic.

What is happening with this game today?!
I’m stuck on loading screen and when I finally join a map (be it pvp or pve) I’m instantly lagged and can’t do anything but wait for a message “The client lost it’s connection to the server”. Whole day.

Lol what? Disconnected from the game? His music for the Realm of Torment is just perfect, same goes with whole of Elona and Cantha. Those soundtracks may feel odd when played in Gw2 but they were perfect and incredibly thought-over in Gw1.

No one’s arguing if it’s possible or not, but whether there is a point in doing so. Even strategically it is a bad idea. This city was attacked several times and destroyed twice by some force, which means it is an easy target.
I would be ok with it being rebuild into some kind of fortress against the dragons like Fort Trinity, but not for trade purposes (kamadan 2? no thx).

It’s a completely different story with TWD, at least in the movie (haven’t played the game yet). I really enjoy those character-developing episodes while others call them boring.
In gw2 it is different, I really don’t care what happens to those poorly written characters like braham, rox, kasmeer. I only kind of like Jory and Taimi because I think that asura has a potential. Both Jory and Taimi may turn into quite nice anti-heroes.

But I still prefer the answers to the issues I enumerated above.

Yes, pretty much this, I’m afraid. Useless bullkitten nobody cares about, instead of important things like:
1. “Guys… if this is Mordremoth we have to defend asura and sylvari, they are close to him”
2. “Let’s infiltrate the coe to find some possible answers on how to fight Mordremoth’s minions effectively”
3. “Malyck returned to his people in the west, we must warn them or recruit them before Mordremoth does!”
4. “Is nightmare Court involved in this? Are they his minions? If so…. we are probably going to fight a much bigger force than all the alliances Scarlet brought with her.” (+ nightmare husks or other nightmare creatures)
5. “If she managed to find those lay lines and disrupt them, maybe we can channel it to some device and use it against the dragons? We have to try!”

This time I cannot say it was a complete fail, there are some pluses as well.

Soundtracks/Audio: 11/10

Story: 6.5 / 10
It was kinda predictable, but I like the idea of a powerfull entity manipulating a mortal to do it’s dirty work (Scarlet was possessed by Mordremoth). It was more or less cohesive (at least wiki provides a greater insight into the plot). But why do I have to look for answers on the wiki?

Characters: 4 / 10
1. Hiccupin Kasmeer with a brain of a child – fail
2. Calm, intelligent, resolute necromancer detective Jory? Ok, cool.
3. Rox….. mehhh ok. Totally neutral here.
4. Braham. WTH. What is this idiot doing there? Complete FAIL. Cliche dialogs full of bullkitten + his infamous “It doesn’t matter now. You’re done.” Completely unacceptable.
5. Scarlet. Joker 2? No no no no. Joker belongs to Batman: Arkham Asylum! Not to GW2! Make her truly evil, dark and kitten like Emperor Palpatine. She was just being annoying. Poorly written character. WHY making her insane? The fact that someone is possessed doesn’t mean s/he must be insane!

Mechanics 1/10
Absolute FAIL. You don’t listen to the community. You don’t learn from events like the one with karka. Boring mechanic -> Zerg Zerg Zerg. Bugs everywhere. Ohh did I mention mindless zergfest?
I mentioned it several times in topics connected with dungeons. Tequatl and Ghosteater are interesting and challenging when it comes to mechanics. But no, you choose to give your villains tons of hp and say: “Zerk it down”.

Temporal content: Too much. Please, pleaaaasee leave LA as it is. Destroyed.

Exactly my point Naevius. “Heroes” are like that, no thinking foward, no analizing, no taking into consideration other factors, only primal instincs: let’s kill it quickly and we’re done.
Aaaaaand booom. We are not done. A powerful Dragon woke up that will consume us all. What?! Where?! How?! Nevermind, let’s kill it.
I though Destiny’s Edge was annoying but this new Destiny’s Edge 2 is even more. Can’t wait to see them dead ;-]

Dissatisfying, but I still agree with Dafomen that it was more satisfying than fighting Zhaitan lol. I knew it had to end like this, with all those brainless, bloodthirsty tyrians yelling “I wanna kill her!” and braham’s reaction, though pointless and irritating, just shows exactly how our community responded to this villain.

I was infuriated to hear braham’s saying such a stupid thing while my character remained idle. At the same time, I understand that only a norn could be kittened enough to say this.
Here we got yet another example of a key moment in a story when my character has nothing to say….. Maybe I’d like to save Scarlet? Maybe I’d like to join her? Maybe I’d like to hear what she has to say and then face-stomp her? Maybe I’d like to take her to jail so that she sees what she did? But no….. I must rush forward and stomp her like a brainless remotely controlled robot.

I wrote ALMOST perma. It’s not even about blinding because it’s more balanced than in Gw1 but about the fact that I see all thieves running with the same 3-4 utilities… Blinding powder, Shadow Refuge and Signet of Shadows/Shadowstep. Rarely a venom thief.

Every class should be given 1 skill with long recharge that reveals thief’s position in a 400 radius. Without it it’s just “I stab you, now catch me if you can, loser!”

Baah, ok…. it was also about killing the Lord. But it was still more like deathmatch rather than conquest. Plus, the whole killing a lord idea was simple and balanced like in Legacy of the Foefire map, unlike in his plot-based propositions (which are again great).

Eso is not a direct threat to gw2.

In terms of pve content obviously isn’t. But when we compare the “wvw” in Eso to wvw in GW2….. well Eso is better, at least technically (lags etc.). And yes I know, both promote zerging.

I really like the ideas 1 and 3. I’m not sure, however, if they are suitable for GvG because it could be unfair for 1 guild. I think that GvG should really be a typical deathmatch, like in Gw1.
Your propositions are great for an spvp mode they announced but I forgot the name. Fortress? Something like that. I’m sure they can be used so keep creating ;p

Funny thing is that they woke up recently and prepare new modes for dying spvp (which is good) but by the time they finish them spvp will be nothing but a memory. WvW is good but eq-based (better wins), zerg-based (larger wins) and not lag-free. And pve? n/c

Completely agree with you guys. Conquest is becoming booring, even for those who generaly still enjoy spvp (a quickly diminishing group). They promised us new game modes but waiting for them til october is pointless. They could at least give us simple deathmatch mode in the next 2 patches, it’s not a big deal and would surely make spvp to shine at least for some time.

Yes, and it’s a good idea, since those were the only good ways to kill an assassin, if you didn’t equip any blind, kd or block skill (instead of an attack skill) you would have a heard time beating a sin. And even if you did, sin had a block and KD skills too. That forced players to use varied builds.

Devs have absolutely no idea how to nerf or balance thieves. It’s entirely their fault, because they created this class in the first place. Initiative? Wtf? Who came up with such a stupid idea?

The assassin in Gw1 was almost perfectly balanced. Sure, he could own you with 1 chain combo if you were inexperienced, but if you took a skill that blocked his attacks or blinded him…. he was an easy prey.

And here? Almost perma stealth, almost perma blind on the enemy, teleporting/running away easily with short bow, 1.5 – 2k with autoattack, 5k crits with heartseeker (that takes ONLY 3 initiative). This is insane.

REDO THIS CLASS. Next year, if spvp survives long enough, you will have only thieves and warriors running.

Not sure if someone already mentioned it or not but I really think necro’s Dhuumfire is too op (necro is my first and favourite char). I like to have burning on necro though, but it’s too op if you use it together with scepter to spam so many conditions.

I think that 1 possible and good solution would be to assign Dhuumfire to Axe only (as it is located in the Spite trait line together with axe boosting traits) without nerfing or buffing it.

@ team sizes over 5: I know some people really like the idea of having games of 8v8 -> 15 v 15, but in reality, these games are often hard to set up. I think that 5on5 is much easier to organize as a player. When I was a GW1 player, playing competitive GvG, we had many nights where we had a hard time getting all 8 people on, night after night, in order to train. A lot of competitive games have settled on the 5 person team (CS, all mobas, etc.), and it’s an easier # to organize than 8 or 15 person teams.

I think 5 is the biggest team size we’d want for organized play, and we could try smaller teams, but due to multiple reasons, teams greater than 5 would probably be too large for GW2.

Hard to set up? Well if your guild is like 30 people then…. yes it is difficult but why depriving other larger (more numerous) guilds of such format? I don’t understand that approach. Tell me then, why could I observe that functioning (pretty well) in Gw1? Was JQ or FA or GvG difficult to organize? Maybe your guild was focused too much on ranks (Sorry Xxx but Yyy has r5 and you got only r1)? It is difficult to organize if you have the holy trinity, like waiting for a r4 monk and r6 tank, agreed.

Very weird approach…. “Some people may not like it so let’s not do it at all” It’s obvious that some people may not find THIS PARTICULAR mode interesting so they will play another. The key word here is: “variety”.

For the GAME TYPE, people seem to be asking for:

  • 2 lords. If you kill their lord you win.
  • There are obstacles in the way (a lot of people use the MOBA analogies of having NPC’s or towers in the way…you defeat these in order to get to the opposing guild lord).
  • I assume there’s a time limit?
  • Do we do VoD again to stop people from turtling?

Player “zamalek” explained this to you very nicely and I like his idea.

I suppose everything has been said already (didn’t manage to go through it all though), but I do have a small request for the devs:

If your are introducing a new content, like those Invasions (which were pretty fun), remember to make them appear in 2 or even 3 maps at the same time. Otherwise, people end up cramped in 1 LAGGY map with no hope of doing anything because of zergs everywhere
