As stated above.

Bugs:

1. Applies a stack of Grants 10 agony resistance. Does not stack with other sources of agony resistance. Anguished Tear of Alba that only lasts 30 minutes instead of 1 hour as described by the tooltip.
2. Applies a stack of Incoming damage in fractals is reduced by 5% per stack. Fractal Defensive that lasts 1 hour but this effect is missing from the tooltip.

New WvW BL Too Big? Let's Visit a Common Idea

in WvW

Posted by: Oulov.7913

Oulov.7913

Those new maps are garbage and the main reason why I completely stopped playing wvw. They are way too big and too varied in terms of terrain. I feel more like playing GW1 Nightfall campaign because it looks as if I was running through Kourna fighting npcs.

Too much running too little fight. I’d rather have a plain simple flat ground with few bushes and trees but more fighting.

Are you patient enough to play WvW?

Oulov.7913

WvW, as exciting as it used to be when it first appeared, is becoming so boooriing when compared to pvp or even pve. I don’t even want to talk about zerg stuff. I guess people are getting bored because 80% of play on these map comes down to:

1. Walking……
2. Running…………..
3. Roaming………………..
4. Running away…………….
5. Strolling………………………………..
6. Hiking……………………………………………
7. Wandering…………………………………………
8. Swimming………………………………………………
9. Diving…………………………………………………………….
10. Brainless following………………………………………..

Untill you finally have an opportunity to cross swords………I mean……aoe’s with enemy zerg. And then, you have but 2 fascinating options: you win the fight and you continue the process (1-8) or lose the fight and die and……guess what….. restart the process (1-8).

Seriously? When my zerg and I are in our main castle on my borderlands I have to run through the whole map to face the enemy zerg and have some fun fighting them just to be beaten and…….teleport back to my castle….
And while the enemy zerg recuperates, has a tea, eats a pie, smokes cigar, takes a bath and reads a book our zerg finally comes to fight them again and, because the enemy is fresh and ready for us, takes a beating yet again.

My point is: make WvW more “mobile” and fast-paced. Put some waypoints here and there. Or give us freaking tanks or armored transports lol. Do something. For now, it looks like 80% of running, 10% fighting mobs and 10% of actuall pvp. <abashed>

Watching all those rampage warriors is funny

Whoever uses rampage first – wins.
I just join custom arenas to laugh as a spectator.

Try to see a bigger picture, will ya? I know dodge is a countertactic against high damage but I critisize both since it seems (judging by negative opinions of Gw2 players) that both have negative impact on the game, despite complementing each other.

But it has always been like this. Your protest amuses me. I posted many times on this forums that thieves with their ridiculous Heartseeker dmg and its spamability paired with constant stealthing is op. Warrior with their insane hammer dmg and CC are op. No dev pays attention or gives a crap.
But it is not only about the skills or people using them. It is the core mechanics.

There was no dodge, no downed state, no skills with insane damage (or at least they were not spamable) and no silly stealth in Guild Wars 1 and everything went just fine.
“You though that using IWAY will always grant you victory? Well, guess what…. we use contagion”
“You though that using bloodspike will always grant you victory? GG wp, we use RTL”
“Ha RTL noobs. We use balanced. Insert coin and try again!”

Gw2 is light-years before Gw1. Don’t count on skill balancing or mentallity change to do the job here.

Stronghold Change List 7/10

in PvP

Posted by: Oulov.7913

Oulov.7913

I played it and like it but there are some things that need to be addressed:

1. Archers are way too weak and, as a result, useless. The range of their attack should be 1200 and they should deal more damage to players. They should prioritize guards, yes, but they should also imidiatelly attack those who attack them (players).
2. Guards are too weak as well. Either buff them (also against players) or enable the players to get new guards by using supplies.
3. Trebuchets are useless. If at all, they are only sometimes used to aoe the supply area, but players prefer to use their own aoe which is more than enough.
4. The gates should be tougher or enable the players to repair them by using supplies.

Twonineone.3490 reminds me of those self-proclaimed pros from Gw1 who played HA and GvG (mostly HA). They would never allow you to join their team and have fun unless you get rank10 gladiator (or whichever title was needed). Thankfully, those dark times have come to past.

If you are mainly a pvp player and you’re getting beaten by a pve player in pvp it simply means you are a noob.

I can’t understand why is Gw1 after all those years still superior, in many aspects, to Gw2. A trip to Urgoz Warren or the Deep was an event everybody prepared for with excitement. Not to mentioned 20 min of consumable gathering, build adjusting and overall thrill because could actually fail (and when I say fail I really mean FAIL and reset the dung not just teleport back to the checkpoint lol4).

Is it possible to put 1 point into the first minor trait (Shroud Knight) just to have an option to go into Reaper’s Shroud but still play with old weapons (e.g. axe)?

The only “dungeon” worth talking about is FotM, the rest is just for no-fun speed farming.

Some time ago I watched a documentry about a man who became “part of” a group of hyenas. They accepted him as one of their own. But the interesting fact was that, hyenas were more likely to become hostile towards each other (towads their ex-leader in the documentry) rather than this man. I guess it’s not about the race/skin color/physical features as much as it is about whether you behave according to specific rules. We should learn from animals.

SEPARATE que for Stronghold

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Oulov.7913

Oulov.7913

Although I’m in love with the game mode and it’s mechanics, I have to say that some of you guys apparently missed the point of this mode. You said yourself this is something big and new, hence it doesn’t make sense to just add it to the conquest que like a new common map. People will constantly leave games when the conquest map was picked simply because they prefer to play a completely different game mode. If it splits the pvp community… well that’s only natural when you (finally) introduce a fresh, new, interesting game mode. You promised/gave us something that resembles gvg from Gw1 so people got hyped but now I see people (from pvp) who are reconsidering buying this expansion because of afore-mentioned mistake.

Also, there is this little problem with how many people should participate in battles for Stronghold. Your “internal testing” is fine but don’t take its results for granted because like 50% of players prefers 8vs8 and I’m in favor of this, because it sounds resonable. It can work here just as it worked in Gw1. Let’s say there’s gonna be:
1 Shepherd
1 Defender
1 Smuggler
1 Trebuchet master

So… 4 “static” or “occupied” classes with defensive builds and that leaves us with only 4vs4 (slayers/assaulters) fighting for/near supplies. Is 4vs4 a zerg fest? I doubt it.

So either you allow all players to create custom arenas for free and without time limit or create a separate que for stronghold with 2 stronghold map versions (5v5 and 8v8).

Gw1 was not for everybody, not for 10-year-old kids like Gw2.
Gw2 with its pitifully looking dragons and destroyers the size of a man should be given Pegi 7.

WvW in Pve

in Living World

Oulov.7913

Hi. The title may sound a bit confusing but it’s about some mechanics typical for wvw.

I was thinking on all those dynamic events in late maps like Straits of Dev, Malchor’s Leap and Cursed Shore. Most of them are boring because, well…. there are no insteresting mechanics there. They are just plain simple. You rush forward and kill mobs and that’s it. But there are some, like “Northern Invasion of Orr” which is great and has some potential.

WvW is fanstastic because of all those siege engines you can build and use on all those structures. Why not implement it in pve as well? A great example of this is “Group Event Sink the Ash Horizon” in which you use trebuchets and cannons to sink it while also defending them and npc (who repair them) from risen. I spent couple of hours leveling my char only this way, because this event was so much fun.
It would be so great to feel that my engineer is truly an engineer not only in wvw but in pve as well. Why not giving us an option to build a siege engine in pve?

We can buy the blueprints and materials (let’s say 60 Hard Wood Planks and 40 Iron Ingots) and baaam we got a catapult. Of course there should be a limit, otherwise the map would be all covered in trebuchets, but it’s something to think about.

You prefer to be a commander and lead a zerg? No problem.
You prefer to be a cool charr engineer (just an example, the class would not matter) and fire a barrage of stones from a distance at enemy mobs or fortifications? No problem.

In case somebody says “pve is too mobile for siege engines”, well…. after the event is done/mobs killed you destroy the siege engine and salvage some materials so you can run to the next group event and construct another catapult or w/e if there is a need for one (mobs spam or sturdy structure to destroy).

What do you guys (especially devs) think?
