25 points in arms, the rest can be whatever you want. You could also go for 15 in discipline if you want to weapon swap (LB and GS are good for that).
For the last 30 points, look at the other builds posted on the forum, you might get some ideas there.

The Sword’s Autoattack ‘3’ should poison for 4 seconds. Although it doesn’t make much sense (maybe the warrior put poison on his sword for fun?) It would bring the swords condition damage up a little bit.

Horrible idea! Poison?! Clearly you meant Firestorm. OP combo, even in GW1…

Yes, give us firestorm after hamstring in that chain.

You deal lower damage with Knight instead of Berserker and damage is the primary aggro reason. So if you get aggro anyway, then there is something wrong with your party XD

Toughness has a huge impact on agro. The difference between zerker and knight’s is immense. Guardians simply have no chance to keep agro off me.

If you search you can find spreadsheets too, that build is the currently the best option for a Warrior.

I even have my own spreadsheet. But there is a difference between spreadsheets and reality. Both 100b and axe chain have a big chunk of their damage on their last hit, and that isn’t something a beginner would want to deal with.
As for scholar runes, I wouldn’t recommend them for general PvE.

Anyway Axe+Mace and GS (rotating them) is the highest DPS output possible so you have to train that.

If you have to interrupt it, you have to interrupt it, and that is where that build fails.
As for knight’s armor, whenever I use it I get all the agro, basically making me the group’s tank, which mean I have to put more effort into staying alive, not less.

I would suggest against axe builds, since they lock you into specific skill rotation, which you will have to break if you want to stay up. The change to axe #1 was just terrible…

In general, your survivability depends more on your team than on the build you run, so as Oni said, full damage is the way to go, and you should stick to in unless the encounter requires something specific (condi removal, stability, etc.).

Didn’t compare GS dps to sword after the patch, but I wouldn’t be surprised if sword is higher. Axe already had higher dps than GS, and sword is only a little behind axe atm.
People just don’t realize how bad GS auto attack is.

If you really want to maximize your dps, use A/M+GS or S/M+GS.

It was more like 2sec actualy, it had a very small windup before you could use the chain again, it is just a bit sad condition builds took a hit on the sword, I see a lot of people using it with kick now in PVP for burst damage. :/

The current combo is more like 1.25sec sinds Hamstring has 0 windup, but the damage are rather low and once you reach the 25 bleed stack, wich was totaly possible before, you loose a good chunk of your DPS.

How exactly was condition sword nerfed? The only attack in chain that didn’t have bleed got faster, so you do the bleeding attacks more often. Looks more like a buff to me.
Also, your seconds must be different from mine, because it isn’t anywhere near 1.25 sec.

Well, technically your swinging a club, it should be the fastest. Maces weren’t known for there finesse. Bashing someone in the face with a bat isn’t slow.

Axe chain has multiple strikes per “attack”, but the chain itself is fairly long (3.5 sec).

I think reducing the time it take to execute the whole mace chain by 1 sec should make mace a much more viable option (will put it just above sword for direct damage builds).

Why warrior have a signet to be unblockable?

Why thieves can stealth while warriors cant?

I was not talking about thieves only.
Both warriors and thieves have ways to land unblockable attacks but one has to give up one utility to do that. Thieves also have stunbreakers on their weapons skills. We need to have utilitys to resist some CC. Its a big diference on build diversity.

You can’t expect everyone to get the same things at the same cost. There are a lot of things that other classes have that warriors don’t, but it doesn’t mean we should have all of that.

Warrior's secondary Trait Stats:

in Warrior

Ozzrel.9825

While I can agree with moving healing power to Tactics, power and crit damage in one tree is a big no. Power is the best offensive stat you can get and adding crit damage to that (which can get very close to power in high crit builds) will just make everyone take 30 point in strength. They will also have to nerf all the direct damage we do, because otherwise we will do ridiculous damage, which will harm non-strength build even more.

Rabid doesn’t mix well with other sets since you will lose a big chunk of power with it.

then be squishy and worst off than a zerker 100b warrior idc. be a squishy crappy condition build that gets owned. and does bad damage. there is ur build for you.

Then go full rabid. Zerker gear won’t add anything to that, since crit damage is useless without power.

Thanks for all the advice! I really appreciate it. I’m currently running three different rune sets, two of each, to achieve +45% bleed duration. Then I’m using condition damage food. If I could find something to make my burns better, that’d be cool, too.

Does anyone know, or know how I could figure out, the specifics for which stat points I want/need? E.g. should I do three pieces of carrion, three of berzerker, or something

You could use condition duration food and use condition damage runes. Should net you more condition damage at cost of some precision.
As for gear… I played with my spreadsheet a little, and rampager with ruby jewels in trinkets seems to be the best choice, but the difference between that and carrion isn’t that big. Rabid is really close too, but having 100% bleed duration is an absolute must for it.

Do you have any thoughts on how to go hybrid but not being horrible? I know I can’t do the FOTM damage right now, but perhaps at least ~10% away from that could be acceptable, especially if I’m bringing something more to a group (e.g. more might stacking, fields, etc.).

You can’t expect to do axe kind of dps (lets face it: axe is king of dps), but you can do pretty good numbers.
Having 100% bleed duration is nice for longer fights, but you might hit the bleed cap, 50% burning duration will let you get a lot more out of your bow (but you will probably have to use food for that). High condition duration also reduces the gap between rampager/zerker, carrion and rabid gear (with rabid and rampager gear you have a high risk of hitting the bleed cap though).
When picking traits, deep cuts and fast hands are a must. After that you can put more points in arms tree if you want damage (25 points trait is good if you have power gear) or you can put them in defense or tactics (whichever you prefer).
For offhand weapon: sword for single target, axe for aoe (or mace if you want aoe cc), horn for more might stacking. Shield can be useful in certain situations, but you don’t want to use it all the time.

If you want to get the most out of sword you’d have to go for a hybrid build (some kind of rampager and berserker mix), but you won’t have much survivability. With rabid gear you won’t have any direct damage and the vitality on carrion isn’t very useful.

- trait in the power line that makes your heal skill remove chill, cripple, immobilize, weakness
- the well known mobile strikes trait
- warhorn skill that removes chill, cripple and immobilize

While mobile strikes trait is good, the other two are average at best. Blowing you heal just to remove a cripple (rather than, you know, actually heal) will probably just get you killed faster, while the warhorn skills are slow, and while using them you aren’t applying any pressure (which is the only way you can ever hope to survive as warrior).

Some build require you to take certain skills (shout healing, banner regen…), while others are more flexible. So unless you use one of these builds where you absolutely have to take a certain skill, you should take whatever your group will benefit the most from (FGJ, Banner of Discipline) or skills that you need for a certain encounter (like condition removal or stability).
In pvp you choice is more limited because some things are pretty much mandatory (balanced stance for stability).

I don’t want to see this build be made viable. You SHOULD be punished for picking 5 passive utilities that you never (or rarely) activate. It’s lazy.

Instead of buffing the passives, they should redesign the activation effects. Right now they are just a (bad) copy of other skills. Just buffing the active effects won’t do either, they need to be changed completely.

Forced into 30 Vitality?

300 toughness, 14% DR does it not give.

Buildcraft says 300 toughness = 14% DR.
If you want to claim differently post evidence.

Funny how you argue about it when neither of you have a clue about how it works.
The amount of DR you get from a point of toughness depends on the power of the attacker. At power=toughness, the damage modifier is 1, meaning the damage is weapon damage multiplied by skill modifier. When you increase your toughness, the damage reduction (relative to damage you take at p=t) will diminish with every step (which is what is shown at buildcraft), which damage reduction in relation to damage you’ve taken before the increase always stays the same.

Crit damage cap? Exists or not?

Is crit dmg added liniary or does it suffer from diminishing returns, such as crit chance?

As far as I know, both crit chance and crit damage increase linearly, and only condition duration has a cap.

Ozzrel.9825

Works with banners apparently!

Works without anything at all, apparently. If the rune wasn’t bugged, I would probably suggest ruby orbs.

The problem with your build, is that wherever you get precision besides the base armor stats, you would be better off getting power instead. Another problem is that the only type of armor that has power as major stat and precision as minor is berserker (which would be a loss of survivability).
Valkyrie gear simply asks for investment into Arms tree, since it is the only place where you can trade crit damage for precision, without loss of power.

Theory crafting: Power vs precision

in Warrior

Posted by: Ozzrel.9825

Ozzrel.9825

The value of Power depends on Precision you already have, the value of Precision changes depending on Power. The more you stack one, the better the other becomes eventually overcoming the first. There is no simple answer as “A is better than B” or “B is better than A”. To make things more complicated, you also have crit damage.
The best you can do, is calculate which one is better for you with the build and gear you already have.

I don’t see why would you want to have boon duration in a banner build. If you take banners, you won’t be using skills that actually grant boons. Also, vit is bad regardless of your build.

I think the weapons had a 10% boon duration,

The weapons have condition duration, not boon.

Here is a great reddit post with solid analysis of crit vs damage. HERE

The formula doesn’t take into account on crit signets or food, but 100% crit chance will be stat budget overkill imo.

If it was just precision and crit damage it would be really easy to pick which one is optimal for you. But we get might, vulnerability, bleed and possibly other procs… I’d like to see the math of how that translates to dps.
