In the Personal Story, “Through the Looking Glass” I just defeated the “Eye” in the Straits of Devastation and after the cut scene the popup end of quest reward choice came up on the screen. Unfortunately, while the choice was sitting there and I was trying to decide there were still mobs and they killed me. While dead, I noticed that there was also a chest that appeared further away (I’m assuming from killing the Eye), but when I revived and ran all the way back the chest was gone.

Was there something important in the chest that I missed? Or is it just random loot?

There’s no way to redo a story quest is there?

So even when guesting and representing my friend’s guild, I’m still contributing to my own one-person guild pool on my own server. Bank included. The Megaserver hasn’t affected this aspect yet.

And if I’m on a guild mission I still need to “guest” after each disconnect or I won’t get the reward.

If I’m understanding correctly, if not on a guild mission there is really no benefit to guesting since the Megaserver allows you to play/party up with friends, and all the guild stuff is unfortunately still completely separate (at the moment).

I think I will hold off transferring then. I’m assuming the influence I am accumulating will be combined with my friend’s guild at the end of the year if/when the Megaserver works toward that goal.

I’m returning after not playing for a long time and I’m very confused about the details of guilds with the new Megaserver.

My friends (and their guild) are on a different server than I am, so I’ve been using the guest function to play with them. However, I can’t access any of the guild functions, except to view who is online. I can’t see any of the upgrades.

What does a “World” mean now if not tied to a server? And how does it affect my gameplay with friends?

Does this mean I don’t need to use the “guesting” feature on the character login page anymore? I was considering actually transferring to my friend’s server but I don’t want to spend the money if everything is going to be joined together soon anyway. Also, I like my “world” that I chose from the beginning and don’t really want to change. But I would like to be able to give my friend’s guild influence when I play.

Any clarification would be great, thank you!

I thought the Megaserver was supposed to allow for accessing guild banks anywhere. Is that not true?

The main problem I’m having is there are too many people blocking my character. I would love to just wait for them to go ahead and then go, but I can’t do that since it’s timed. It’s very difficult to see where you are jumping when your small character is blocked by a Norn.

Also the fact that the camera will completely shift and show me an up close image of a rock is not helping either.

At this point it is not skill, just luck that you don’t happen to have too many large characters in your group.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I managed to get to and then swim across the Gendarran lake, which kept me away from all the Centaurs (and other violent creatures) in the area. Once I got into the tomb I followed a group through the traps, and got the last page.

Is that the waypoint at the northeast of Lion’s Arch, near the Smugglers?

I may try that. I attempted to go through Guardian’s Path but the Centaurs shot me down instantly from a distance.

For someone who is still under level 20? Is it possible? Is there an Asura gate that goes near the Ashalon Village? Or a route that you can avoid most mobs? Thanks!

So it doesn’t show up as a side quest, it’s only in the achievements? Thanks, that clears a lot up actually.

I talked to the Carving Master and then found a bunch of pumpkins to carve (around Queensdale), which I did, but when I go back to him he talks as if he is just telling me about it and I haven’t gotten any yet. I’m certainly at tier 1 since I’ve carved more than 1.

The ones I have carved are the ones that actually say “carving pumpkin,” you do a bit of slashing, and it turns into a jack-o-lantern. Are these not the right ones?

Played all last night and it didn’t crash once. Played this afternoon and I got 2 crashes per hour, 3 in the last 25 minutes. And not all in combat anymore, pretty much anywhere. Talking to an NPC, walking around, turning the camera too fast. Anything.

Same thing, black screen, alt+esc, and I see the error message attached above, and then I have to “end task” on the program. Luckily my computer has not frozen up with it, the crashes seem to be completely isolated to the game itself.

The latest driver for my card is the 306.02 (beta), from 9/14/12.

Ah, okay. I was hoping there was a way to do actions silently. Too bad there aren’t keyboard shortcuts for the animations.

I’m relatively new, okay very new to GW2, I only started playing a few days ago. I discovered someone kneeling and realized that it also said [name] kneels in the chat window.

Of course I want to try out all the possible emotes now, but I’m curious. Is it going to spam all the other players’ chat windows in my general area, with [name]sits, [name] sleeps, [name] salutes , etc.?

Can my character sit without declaring to the world that they sat? If I type the emote into my party chat command, will it only appear to party members?

I changed my ram settings in the bios to 1600 (seemed they were defaulting to 1333 before). Although I can’t imagine that being all that bad, since it’s more than enough.

I’m about to try again today, I will see if I get any crashes.

What exactly does that driver sweeper do? What are they referring to with “driver leftovers?” My computer is only 3 months old and the only drivers on it are the ones that I specifically installed myself.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. It does make me feel a bit better to know I’m not alone in this. I have only done PvE so far, but have died a couple of times because of it. I was used to having issues with my old PC, and having to jump through hoops to get a game to work, but I had thought new games would be compatible with new graphics cards. I can’t help but be a little perturbed I just spent $60 for a game I can’t play.

Yes! I couldn’t figure out why this was happening. I was changing the frame rate settings and then all of a sudden the game started to slow down and I checked and they were at 20-30 fps. I restarted the game when I saw this.

With the variety of graphics cards that are experiencing problems, it’s not really up to us to try and tweak our systems so maybe this one game will work (possibly causing problems with tons of other games/software). Is there any research going into fixing this problem? Will sending them my system info help, or are they not really looking into it that much?

I purchased GW2 a few days ago and have had it crash on me 3 times so far. After playing for 30 minutes or so, during combat usually, I am getting a black screen. When I press ctrl + alt + delete, I get an error message (attached).

I read the sticky topic for Nvidia drivers, and yes “Antialiasing – Mode” is set to Application-controlled.

I haven’t had this issue with any other games. I’ve played the Witcher 2 with no problems whatsoever, as well as ME3, SWTOR, etc.

The only thing that might be an issue is my internet/router. I am playing from wireless. But as it is saying a graphics error, I am assuming that is not the problem.

So far I have been able to forcefully shut down the game without doing a hard reset, but I’d prefer it not get to that point. Are there any known incompatibilities with my particular system?
