Using this in fractals, works like charm.
Specific Game Mode
PvE, but also applites to WvW as we use the same setups.
Proposal Overview
Traits, weapons and skills changes.
Goal of Proposal
Making ranger more viable.
Proposal Functionality
First of all, trait lines. Power with precision, toughness with critical damage, condition damage with condition duration, vitality with healing power and bood duration with pet attribute bonus.
Now the functionality.
In my opinion spirits should work as necromancer minnions, they should follow on default and disappear when killed, not on 60 seconds. Apart from water and sun spirit, rest are the mobile buff stations. You can kill a spirit but you can’t deal with warrior banner, so maybe make them unkillable with buffs like warriors give?
I would also change the spirit of nature skill to full party heal in a range of 1500 instead of reviving.
Traps – throwable at default with the range increase trait. Muddy terrain is on 900, why not the traps? Combo field on every trap is nice idea, but how would it work with spike one?
Weapons:
Shortbow should be on 1200 range. And sorry, but in my opinion lowering longbow and speargun (skills on travel range) damage when player is closer is just stupid.
I still need to click 1st skill on LB range 1200+.
And please change the drake running animation ;] .
And maybe I’m beeing stupid right now, but give the pet an option to follow stealthed thief. If I mark him and order pet to attack, it will go after him up to hell. Hit from pet means I can see the cloacked kitten. That would require switching of the range pet can go.
Associated Risks
Why not to risk? It’s just a game
.
It’s kind of a bug. Since Fractured the “instance owner” for fractals is weird.
Essentially, when you enter a new shard (read: map), then if the instance owner is not inside the dungeon when you continue to the next shard then it will be set to the first person who was inside the instance that’s still inside.
And that answers my question, thanks.
But still, why weren’t we all kicked when the owner disconnected and was kicked from party? If he had left or reloged, we would be kicked. But completly exiting the game makes us able to kick the guy with no penalties?
Anierna, maybe I and Cranked strayed a little from the topic and started to talk about Mai Trin strategy, but I completly can’t understand what are you “whining” about.
FYI, if my party fights Mai Trin and we go full stack on her, then yes, I will use Signet of Renewal and Prayer to Kormir on my human ranger to clear the conditions. And as far as I know, cleric warrior is one of the most useful builds I have encountered in this game. Everyone plays their style. If you wanna rush the whole dungeon and get downed here and there it’s your choice. I prefer to do my job slower, but without any stress.
Back to topic, what I want to explain myself in those post is the bug that occured cousing a loss of 45 minutes and I don’t know if million people “whine” about this every day.

Well, my party always go full stack on her all the time.
I did not open the dungeon. When I entered the party through the lfg I got the prompt to enter FotM because the charr guy was already in. My point is that maybe he apparently opened FotM in the same moment I entered the party, we both clicked enter instance kinda in the same moment but I loaded first. But I don’t think that happened or it works that way.
Cranked, on Mai Trin I got only the Healing Spring, condi signet and Prayer to Kormir. My cleric warrior is a shout healer. Got a lot more HP than ranger and ofc the 3 shouts that heal around 2,5k HP each + runes of the soldier that remove my and party members conditions which is the key to beating Mai Trin. So my warrior is far more useful on Mai than ranger.

I can’t find FotM subforum so I write here.
The problem:
I entered lfg party as a second one. A charr guy was already inside. We gathered full party and went on. On second instance the charr guy (party leader as I thing) got disconnected and other party members didn’t know that he entered. They kicked him at the beginnig of the 3rd instace, but we stayed in O.o . We invited 5th guy and made throught 3rd instance with no problem. Got Mai Trin as 4th, so I playing as a ranger reloged on my cleric warrior, and then we got all kicked.
The question:
Did the game recognized me as the party leader after the charr guy disconnected? Or meybe Anet did something about kicking party leader from instance and I just didn’t notice it in the path notes? Because something as this never happened to me before and I kinda feel bad for that reloging.
FYI when I entered the party, I got the prompt to join my party in the FotM. Maybe me and the charr just entered in the same time and the game thought that I’m the party leader? But still, the charr opened.
So what do you do in PvE with 80 lvl character if not dungeons or fractals? Only farming events? If so, every build you make will be good.
If u wanna torch and lynx, it’s condition. Try combining carrion and rabid equipment, though condition damage ain’t good in PvE. Better to go zerking, but if you want some survivability try something like this.

Fractals:
Salvageable ascended rings is a must. Or just tell us they are useless so we start destroying it. I would be nice to be able to buy fractal skins for Pristine Fractal Relic, let’s say 50 tokens each skin (and do not increase the drop rate, but chest from which I could pick any skin would be nice), and exchange Fractal Relics into Pristine ones, maybe 100 to 1 or so.
More fractals would be nice, but in my opinion instances taken from living story were a bad idea.
All combinations of ascended gear stats, I really miss valkyrie ascended trinkets.
Ranger:
Spirits working like necro minions, following on default, dying when killed, not 60s :/ . Throwable traps on default would be also nice :] . Power with boon duration, vitality with healing power, condition damage with condition duration, toughness with pet attributes?
Proffessions general:
Let us retrait whenewer we want in PvE. Since it costs on only 4 silver… In wvw Instant Trait Resets are a good idea, but for Badges of Honor.
Immobilizing and chilling makes every fight way easier. And traits for faster healing. Change for stone and frost spirits when needed.
They go into the chest armor because you use parts of different sets mate. If you were using chest from HotW there wouldn’t be any problem…
Well, even getting fractal relics from those rings seems better than just throwing them away :/ .
Don’t know why, but even as a man, I feel just annoyed with the female T3 human armor and other medium and heavies that show bare stomach or breast. I know it’s a game but it just doesn’t look good to me… That’s supposed to be an armor, covering the body…
Can anyone tell me if ArenNet ever stated that we’ll be able to salvage or trade ascended rings?
I’m starting to loose space in my bank because I try to save the rings hoping I’d be able to make some profit from them in the future, but if not I’d just throw them away to make some space.
30/30/10/0/0 knight with LB + Axe/Wh, no problems at all in dungeons and fractals.
Sadly, there’s none. And there’s also a little choice in full closed helmets :/ .
I sometimes use prayer 2 kormir on my ranger, couse my only condi removal is the healing spring.
As guys above said, sPvP is your own choice. You don’t need to spend gold etc on items in there. For PvE the build above has proven very viable for me. When I go into WvW (roaming with full party, not running in zerg) I would often change the Skirmishing traits for Agility Training (and then change the spider for another canine), Quick Draw and Sharpened Edges. In Wilderness Survival I’d go with Wilderness Knowledge and then change the utilities to Muddy Terrain, Lighting Reflexes and Quickening Zephyr. Weapon choice would be main LB and SB or SW/Wh. QZ with SW #1 wipes a guy quite fast.
Muddy Terrain + Spike Trap + Frost Trap, perfect control in dungeons.
Maybe that was a bug you’ve just reported?
Imo traits should stay just like they are now, but the range should be increased to 900. Muddy terrain got 900, so why not the traps?
PS. AoE indicator when you throw the trap show smaller size than it is in reality, it should be fixed.

Thx for advice.
Hi, what I link below it’s my standard PvE dungeon set.
I’d like to start running WvW but I don’t have much money to afford big changes.
Rings won’t be a problem, I’m a frequent FotM runner. Also, I got full rabid armor and rabid sb + axe/wh.
Can you give me some advice how to change the build to be more useful in WvW?
Adventurer Jon Darkwood, soldier Aron Darkwood and scholar Itzal Darkwood. Guess the professions.
At the start of the game year back I was using LB/GS for leveling. In free roaming you rarely fight more that 2v1. Always rapid fire, knockback and then swop with GS. Back there I went all zerker for the max DPS, and I see no reason for bothering with condition damage. You can always switch the GS to Sword/Warhorn, call + birds and then qz + sword chain do the best damage that ranger can get. For the first elite I’d go Entangle. If you go 20 points into skirmishing you’ll be able to throw the traps, which while using frost and spike traps + muddy terrain will give you on of the best control in the game.
For me T3 just doesn’t work with warrior, looks nice only on guardian.

Man, as I hate medium and heavy woman armor showing off the breast etc, it’s just stupid :/ .
Imo the best “full” medium set in the game – Magitech. But still, you I get the better look with different pieces.
30/30/10 full Knight with zerker weapons.
For dungeons go:
Marksmanship – Steady Focus, Piercing Arrows and Eagle Eye.
Skirmishing – Trapper’s Defense, Trapper’s Expertise and Trap Potency.
Wilderness Survival – Healer’s Celerity.
Weapons are main LB (Superior Sigil of the Fire) and Axe/Warhorn (Superior Sigils of the Earth).
Skills are ofc Healing Spring, Spike Trap, Frost Trap and Muddy Terrains for control, and Elite as you want, I prefer Rampage As One, change to Frost or Stone spirit if needed.
Pets are Wolf and your choice, I prefer Forest Spider.
For WvWvW:
Marksmanship – for zerg runnig leave as it is, for roaming go with Remorseless instead of Piercing Arrows.
Skirmishing – Sharpened Edges, Agility Training, Quick Draw.
Wilderness Survival – Wilderness Knowledge.
Weapons are main LB (Superior Sigil of the Air) and Sword/Warhorn (Superior Sigil of the Air/Superior Sigil of the Earth).
Skills are Heal as One, Quickening Zephyr, Lightning Reflexes and any other survival one, Elite is Rampage As One.
For pets I’d say Owl and Jaguar/Lynx.

You can always create the ascended one http://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&search=quiver .
It’s still out there, watch out!
True. 5g is cheap.
Btw, I got mine from forging 4 rares, you all write about exotics. Well, I basically throw all my rare and exotic weapons into Forge and salvage only armors.
Venator, which coat is that?
For me the only problem with the longbow is the lack of autoattack on ranges 1200+. Any other skills work fine.
Of course I’d like to see some buffs as anyone, but as I said, for me the longbow is just fine.
Omg what a fail
. Hope the rest of my post gave you some answers :P .
First of all, what class of armor do you wear? All dyes can look different depending what you wear, even at the same class. Black on my T3 medium coat looks like purple, so it was a huge waste of money (Abyss too, thank God I previewed it first). On the other hand, they kick kitten on heavy armor. My ranger here is dyed in Oil Slick (30s) with a little bit of Midnight Gold (30s) and Midnight Fire (5g).
Imagine if someone cares about what’s in this thread.
Man, you should implement some nice effects to upgraded quivers. Did mine just for looks. Ranger with that capacitor just does not fit :P .
Thanks for such a quick answer ^^ .
As in topic, I’m curious what footprints will I leave while whielding for example both Bolt and Frostfang (ranger)? And will the right hand be covered with lightings, and left with ice?
Just take your armor off and preview what you want.
