<—- Charr…
Would you please refrain from kicking kittens in my thread? :p
I tried ele, but it isn’t as fun when my gf mains an ele. So instead I control the mobs and she nukes it. xD (She doesn’t do pvp :c ) I have however teamed up with a bunker engi, and oh my… The results were… astonishing. We managed to take the entire opposing team… So many bombs, turrets, etc… They then proceeded to tell us how we were cheating…
My lvl 15 masterwork guardian does more heals than my lvl 80 exotic engineer…i cry a little inside…and survives longer.
A guardian specializes in support, an engineer does not, but an engineer can do a little bit of everything. A jack of all trades is just that. A jack, not a king. I’ve killed / made guardians run from my engineer before. so hah.
Though…. I can’t tell if it was because of my deadliness…. or my really annoying pistol…hmmmmm
I have also destroyed many of guardians, bunkers, dps, whatever. I don’t stay still, I time when I do what (Although still working on mastering that…) Although I haven’t quite had an issue with them running away… I guess tunnel vision is increased when you wear so much heavy steel. xD
Everyone runs from me!!! Agh, so i just magnet them and smash them in the face with some confusion. Usually cures that right up. But still, iunno why they do it. Chickens.
lol, I prefer to throw my wrench at them to “test the distance”, as it has a nice cripple effect. Followed by a glue shot, since they will probably want to wipe that cripple off, THEN magnet after I have dumped a box of nails. Not many people have been able to get away from me with that, although it may be a bit overkill, but if they want to run away, they probably won’t be doing much damage to me Thieves are my biggest issue… I can’t find a counter for their SB shadowstep, at which point I just /threaten :p
I forgot to mention… I run around with 1k toughness, and like 4 healing power… xD A well controlled environment is key… Make the environment controlled.
No such thing in WvW…my guardian can survive a very long time with 3 80 thieves on it…the engy gets steam rolled even playing smart.
First… can I merge all my post? lol…
And how is there no such thing as forcing a more ideal environment? 3 thieves will probably take me out also, but I will take at least 2 with me… Thieves aren’t immune to conditions and control… They can wipe it, but I can bring back the control in seconds. But as wuffles stated; Guardians are meant for support, so of course you would survive longer, they are also a heavy armor class, as opposed to medium.

I’m not knocking Elixirs at all. They are quite handy, but I try not to be too dependent on them. But yea, I totally agree on all your points… People just knock us so often because they can’t quite figure us out. Not that I’m complaining. I like being the rare breed… And an underestimated one at that. :p
Guardian probably needs the heals because they are in a more uncontrolled melee environment than an engi… Usually if I am about to enter a situation like that, I have most of the mobs/players blind or crippled or stunned before they can do too much real damage to me in MOST cases, not all. Engi requires a lot more planning to be successful than a guardian.

Exactly… I have played with multiple classes (not to 80, but in spvp and pve) and they always feel like something is missing… It is a mental nerf to me… It doesn’t feel right.
Despite everyone stating the engineer’s lack of anything… It is still by far my favorite profession… Nothing comes close in terms of fun, not to mention I do incredibly well with it…
I don’t use the elixer build that seems to be all the rage, although I did try and it was too straight forward. I pack 2 kits, and 2 pistols 99% of the time, and usually don’t have any problems at all as far as getting my kills (Except thieves, who can get away from me easily with the SB skill(No, I am not bashing them. They deserve a good escape skill…)) But on a typical day, I use the same build for PvE/sPvP/WvW, although I’m still getting the hang of WvW. PvE is a bit more difficult for my build, but it is still fun. sPvP… I don’t think I have run in to another profession that can REGULARLY take me out unless it is 3+v1. WvW, well, I don’t know how I do there, but on a typical fort/tower takeover, I net 10+ bags. I’m not indestructible by any means, and I have taken my fair share of deaths, albeit far less now than when I started. And I’m not even a pro at pvp…
TL;DR The engineer has the ability to ready for near any situation that comes up. You just have to work a little harder than most classes, which to me, is a bonus. I don’t get bored. And working a little harder allows me to play multiple roles WELL at once.
I already ordered it, lol. Went with deferred delivery though. However, the option to upgrade exists despite it being a laptop. But the 680s should suffice for my current needs, thanks for that heads up though. (high power laptop was required for more than gaming)
As far as FPS, I’ve got an unholy speced pc being made. Just won’t be ready for a month -.-
I will however try looking at it as its own game instead of gw1. It is just habitual.
Also, this laptop is already playing on bare minimum. lol… But once I get my i7 and dual 680m slis (Bye bye tax monies.) I hope to see a significant improvement in my scoring. (After I stop looking at it as gw1)
Thanks everyone for your input.
Ok, so I am getting rather discouraged in spvp. I can’t tell if it is because I need to l2p (Bare in mind I was very good in gw1) or if 10fps is what is making me suck?
Things like being in a large battle and poof. I’m downed, and skewered before my downed skills even load. Or capping a point and again, poof. All of a sudden there is a good portion of the team surrounding me. I’m averaging 3-10 kills, 2-5 defends, and 2-5 caps per match. It is similar in pve, when there is a bunch going on, but I sit at around 15fps in low population, low battle areas. Not trolling. Just wondering if 10 fps makes a huge difference or not, being as I’m used to playing mmos and other comp games at >30fps so I can’t tell what has changed.
Anyone got examples of higher level LIGHT armor on a CHARR? please? xD
Ok, then charr has the short end of the stick for light armor all together, which kinda sucks… Basically any charr who wishes to pick up magic is destined to be fabulous…
As for the skirt being longer, yea, would be fine, I suppose, but I mean really? Can’t even cover my knees?
I’m not the only one that sees how terrible this is then… I think more Mesmers would be played if they didn’t look so fabulous…
Wish I had some kind of warning I would be looking at kittybits while playing, instead of finding out once I start enjoying the profession…
I can deal with poofy armor, but NO armor? Should have made mesmers a female only profession if this is what they have in mind -.-
a quick front and back shot of the level 35 rare light armor on a MALE charr… now where is that NSFW tag?
I can deal with the butterflies, but looking like a kitty of the night is pushing it….
Ok, finally hit level 35, and made myself some nice rare armor… I think I am going to quit playing a mesmer just because of the outcome… I’m a max size MALE charr, wearing a mid thigh length skirt, with the front and back opened, and knee high boots, wearing one of Prince’s puffy shirts…
Why the hate for the Charr who chooses Light armor? I mean for crying out loud, I can see my underwear clear as day…
Do we ever get any armor that isn’t kitten looking?
Ok, so I was being deceived when they said at level 80 they put out 35k damage in 3 skills which can be reused every 6 seconds? He just said he sacrifices a lot of survivability for that damage…. I sacrifice any vitality and toughness for power and hit like a wet paper bag in comparison, if what he states is correct.
I really do enjoy the mesmer gameplay, but if I am truly only hitting one hundredth of what he does, I feel I need to reroll… But when I saw similar numbers with my thief, I was even more blown away.
After talking to some guild members, wondering how my damage compares, it seems no matter what class I roll, my numbers are not even a fraction of theirs…
They said they hit around 5,000 a hit at level 30 as a warrior… my level 33 mesmer, with power gear and power traits, hits 500 on average… On my Thief, a backstab is only getting me around 500 at level 20… I can’t imagine anything close to 5,000 in 10 levels…
Am I just that terrible of a player, to where I can’t make anything hit very hard?
Also, sorry if this is the wrong section.
awaits L2P replies
If that is the case, and you play after you get home, than our schedules would actually work quite well… I usually get mornings to play.
Starting to feel as if I need to move to Europe to be accepted. -.-
I guess you have a good point there… Being in a guild that everyone slept in while I was awake would feel about the same as being guildless
I could deal with the lack of pvp, I’ve done plenty solo thus far. Although, I am not EU based Nor do I know the consequences of being in US playing on EU (Lag and such) with a comp that I play around 15fps on min gfx. If you could shed some light on that, I will certainly consider you guys.
After trying to make a guild and failing, and waking up to be the leader of another developed one, but still no bites, I guess I will join another guild…
Things I wish to see in said guild;
Not going to be kicked for missing up to a week at a time (Sometimes RL gets quite busy with short notice, but I can inform someone if it’ll be longer.)
I don’t want to be in a guild that has like 500 people, I prefer a small close knit guild, that isn’t about power and rank, more about just having fun, and chatting and such… Although I can understand “orders” given in wvw, which is fine. And yes. I do enjoy wvw and spvp. A comfortable number to me is between 10 and 50 players.
A guild that is fine helping eachother, for example; I’m a decent level tailor, I wouldn’t expect a guildie to pay for something I make, unless its very expensive. Or maybe mats.
I would be willing to change out of Sanctum of Rall if the guild was appealing enough, after spending time getting to know the community from my home server.
and for the love of grenth… No silly names like Hello Kitty Boomboom or something -.-
I would love to see this updated. It is a great idea… But really?! Engis and mesmers are least played? I’ve seen so many of them… And ele dropping greatly in popularity so it seems…
Anyways, great job. Hope to see it updated xD
Ok, wondering if the guild selling and buying has begun yet? Provided it isn’t against any rules, I have a guild to sell for who knows how much, which has 2.5k influence, guild stash, armorer, emblem, and workshop, and prerequisites.
Not terrible to start with… But I just don’t like the name of it, lol.
Is there a way or will there be a way to change a guilds name?
Ok, I’m sure there are tons of post about how traits need a revamp or whatever, but I have a suggestion to fix this, whilst maintaining balance.
I think we should be able to buy a “Build Sheet” with gems (Which CAN BE BOUGHT WITH IN GAME MONEY) say… 500 gems, and when you buy it, you may save a single build on it, and it can be a secondary tab on the traits page to save or load, and can only be used in towns and outpost, and cost half the price of respeccing each use. This maintains balance imo. You can save as many builds as you’d like, provided you buy a Build Sheet for each one. 500 gems seems to be a fair price for a permanent item, with such a great function, not too cheap, but not too expensive as to where a character can’t have more than a couple.
The reason I think this would be insanely beneficial, is because gw2 professions are VERY versatile, and making us run around in massive towns, pay a pretty penny, all to respec so you better compliment what your current objective is. Example, I enjoy playing support, but doing that solo is ludicrous, when I’m solo my build is MUCH different and selfish. All it would do is compliment the versatility of the professions.
Sure, I can always locate a respec NPC, but why can’t I go to town, click a couple times, and load the build for what I want to do?
Please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks this…
P.S. Option to automatically swap to town clothes in towns!!!!
I am Panthera Fierceshot, the great grandcub of Pyre Fierceshot, and wishing to rebuild his warband on the Sanctum of Rall server, although other servers are welcome, and we will work something out so that everyone feels included.
Some information on this warband includes (Or will include, once I get a few members):
Semi-RP, it isn’t required, but appreciated to stay in character, exceptions can be made, everyone has off days or needs to talk about something or to someone on a more serious level, which is very much acceptable…
Race does not matter, as off as it sounds, I see no reason why a “in warband” personal story can’t be made to explain how… an asura found his way to be in a charr’s warband, ALTHOUGH, having at least 1 character with the word Fierce in the name would be awesome, but not required I suppose, as it would be a royal pain to have a high level character and remake it just for a guild, would leave me memberless…
Activity; I fully understand real life matters come first, but at least once a week, unless explained at joining your inability to play once a week.
I would also like to stay on the small side, as I see less drama that way, however, if the guild still feels close knit as a warband should, I will gradually increase, until drama becomes too frequent.
PvE/sPvP/WvW
Thank you, Esya. Is there any chance your boyfriend can either give you some damage and survivability info, or can tell me himself? I know dodging will play a big part in living, that’s fine, as it keeps me interested… Standing there spamming 1 skill or 2, will burn me out.
ADDED: I don’t require omgwtheck damage, but simply enough to leave a dent in a large hp pool…
Ok, so I have been playing gw2 since the 3 day head start, and a few very terrible stress test (3fps)
I need help due to my indecisive nature, selecting a primary characters’ profession…
My choices include;
Thief- Only iffy about it due to low fps most of the time, which won’t be fixed until march of next year, and it seems that isn’t a good class for lag spikes and low fps, being hit by regular attacks when I THINK I’m in stealth, over using heartseeker, draining my initiative, thinking it hasn’t worked yet, then I bounce off 5 times…
Necromancer- Love the class to The Underworld… But fear a nerf of a very awesome skill; Epidemic… I have gotten several kills quickly, by a well timed BiP and Epi…. Also hate the minions, they seem useless… kinda brain dead… haha slaps knee….
Engineer- Only level 6, but love the idea of it, and how versatile it can be, but seeing so many complaints about its low damage, and low survivability… I’m not exactly a noob to playing high skill cap professions, I think I am an awesome ele and mes in gw1… Is high damage/survivability actually obtainable with the engi? If so, an example please?
Elementalist- Discouraged by how over played it is, but less discouraged by how many elementalist are dropping the profession, because it seems the skill required is null for lower levels, but at higher levels requires more than pressing skills as soon as they are done with CD…
I want something versatile, can adapt to any situation, without feeling totally helpless in PvE or PvP/WvW, I don’t mind learning new tactics, as long as a goal of survivability with damage is achievable. I usually play alone, but from time to time, I play with a select few friends… I also don’t like being something incredibly common… Basically, I am seeing this as a poll, in a way, as to what I should play… Although if viable evidence of an engineer doing decent damage, and not dying every 5 seconds, I will certainly stick with it, provided it isn’t 1 skill reliant.
Personal note- I have tried them all, but none to 30 yet, enjoy them all, other than reasons mentioned.
TL;DR Can’t choose between; Thief, Necro, Engi, Ele, need suggestions, and pros and cons.
