Such a familiar site this week. do you guys ever get tired of zergs n siege + hiding in the towers ?
In other words, we play WvW?
Ok , just checking , so its the SbI norm to hide in a tower when facing 4 people.
Thank you for letting me know that is “your style wvw”.I sit spam you more now, ty.
XOXO must be the type of guild that hunts down uplevels in packs of 4, then puts youtube videos up to show 1337 sauce they are? Keep on keeping on gentlemen.

Welcome to the Koreans from SoR who are helping to start ML along with ex-Kiwi players. You will make an excellent addition to our server.

I’m looking for proof that Yak’s has even one group of people wiling to fight outside of their towers/keeps. Pictures or videos are appreciated. Thanks!
On a side note, [TE] had fun tonight on the borderlands. o7 to those we faught.

I just fail to see why Living World can’t encompass WvW more frequently. ANet says its a part of the game, it just doesn’t feel that way. If you can force people to eat zhaitaffy, smash pinatas, go around to 30 zones doing hot air balloon things, why can’t you do a Living World that rewards people for:
1) staying within a radius of the commander tag
2) getting a certain number of kills without dying (force people to smarten up and not wear magic find in talentless zergs)
3) sell some shiny WvW skin or something for 800 gems that makes WvW more attractive for ANet’s profitability
[KEK]
If you live your life expecting consistency, I have some bad news for you…
I don’t expect consistency per se, but the level of inconsistency that has been plaguing WvW is getting out of hand. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it needs to be better.
You’re totally correct.
I’m judging by the lack of posts that we’re the only two who feel this way.
[KEK]
Why don’t they realize that WvW is bringing in tons of money with the constant stream of guilds server transferring… I’m sure some people are buying gems straight up as opposed to trading in their gold.

Here on “mid tier server”, we go through a great and tragic WvW cycle.
1) New and exciting Living Story Content is released by ANet. All of the WvW zergs become PvE zergs and run around blobbing world champions and legendary mobs in PvE because the rewards are unmeasurably more valuable. If all that the Living Story is going to do is have people run around in zergs, killing champions, why can’t it take place in WvW? Or if it can’t take place in WvW, why can’t the same kind of zerging with more coordination and skill be rewarded even half as lucratively.
2) Buzz of the Living Story dies down, people return to WvW. However, every week people who are tired of the inconsistent numbers transfer off the server, or even worse go play a different game. People get hyped, talk about how to improve our situation, improve the server, and have more fun, and then…
3) See step 1.
I could have gone with a longer more elaborate version. Perhaps it’s just a server issue, but I would guess that I’m not the only WvW player upset by the inconsistency of players. Again, maybe it’s just me, I have a longer stomach for instability than most, but I’d really like to see some concrete changes to WvW that will KEEP people here throughout the week or lessen the turnover.
I’ve seen Devon come on and say they want to build a game that encourages people to play all parts of the game, but while WvW focused players are often tempted to play in PvE, what reason is there really for PvE focused players to come into WvW other than to do jumping puzzles for their gift of battle? Perhaps they don’t even have to anymore, they’ll just buy the legendary straight up with the gold that’s dropping from the PvE Champ trains.

Welcome KWBH from Crystal Desert to Stormbluff Isle.

[TE] had another fun night on SBI BL and Kaineng BL. Wish we could have given the bay siege with CNB inside a little more time and effort but WFD was breathing down our necks again on SBI BL. Respect to CNB and Dragonriders as usual, you guys are making us much better.
[KEK]
Good fights to all on Kain BL tonight, especially to BMS, CNB, and DR.
[KEK]
Hey radioactive, can you fix the title? Put the date and K is Kain: 8/16 DH/Kain/SBI
Just a pet peeve of mine.

[DR] has been having a blast tonight, thanks all for the good fights.
Cheers

Yep – You guys are great to fight, a greased pig that when finally cornered, would explode out and kill everybody. Good job and hopefuly we’ll get the same quality of fights throughout the week.
[KEK]
Good Luck, have fun, and please let us have garrison back?
[KEK]
Lot’s of fun on EB tonight. NSP kept trying to omega golem rush Klovan Gully (not sure why, but they lost a lot of omegas) while we held off Darkhaven for hours at Stonemist. Eventually we were outnumbered 3:1 and finally lost the castle. We collected tons of bags from Baghaven and the fights were great. Shout out to Side Effect, probably the best guild I’ve faced on Darkhaven thus far, they are a truly standout guild. You guys gave us some trouble until we heavily outmanned you and could just overpower you. Great work out there.
[KEK]
15 character bump, go SBI
[KEK]
Yeah, you guys defended Valley keep pretty good. That Defensive Omega was giving me kittens. Killing our golems with your inner gate at 2%. That was just depressing
Valley keep is just a nightmare properly defended, its so compact. Almost as bad as Hills. Still, the open field fighting was pretty good. And we got your Hills through a map hop, so I can’t complain too much
And yeah, you poked the hornets nest with that push on lowlands. I was happily farming the Queens Pavilion when someone said in guild chat ZOMG SBI hitting lowlands!
Yeah Thursday isn’t usually the best week for fights in WvW, but it was tonight for me. The back and forth wiping of each other really shook up or player composition. The people that were only around for the karma train left, and the people that love the fights started coming in. Hopefully we can build up a scout network similar to the one you have on BP, and become the map hopping machine you are.
Outside of all the trolling for the lulz I did on the forums this week, it was a pretty good way to end the matchup after what was definitely a crappy PvDoor matchup from mots parties involved, whether it was us karma training Ebay’s EB portions on the weekend, both of you karma training our borderlands throughout the week, and BP’s epic new contetnt karma train.
[KEK]
Shout out to Maguuma, probably my favorite enemies of all the servers we have faced on SBI. They have no fear, they don’t take themselves seriously enough to get mad when they see their coverage leaks, and have a very strong NA that we always strive to build on SBI. They have all the fundamentals of a tier 1 server, and what appears to be the most unique community on NA, hopefully you guys get some transfer love and can become as strong as you are in NA at all times.
[KEK]
Shout out to Anvil Rock, quite literally you can only go up from here. The people that stuck with you on your downfall will be the people you can depend on to help you rebuild on the long way up. Hopefully Anet throws in some bones for the people who stick it out on mid-low tier or at least facilitates guilds transfering there from superstacked servers.
Best of luck to Manvil Rock
[KEK]
Good fights to BP on EB tonight. I thought we might kick the hornets nest when we rushed your keep, sure enough you queued the map and gave us 2v1 hell with Ebay, happy we did not lose the keep on my watch. Thanks to all the SBI who came out to defend with me tonight and didn’t leave after the Eternal Karma Train.
[KEK]
I would recommend EK. EK is the guild led by Gismor on Crystal Desert and is a fantastic guild that has garnered respect from my guild and server, not to mention Crystal Desert! Good luck and happy hunting.

Come to Stormbluff Isle, or SBI, we are building up an EU presence, with many French transfers for some reason popping up all over our voice coms. They speak english and put up a great fight. We also have an NA presence that usually is playing during EU prime. The nice thing about playing SBI during EU prime is it’s mostly are hardcore playres who have good builds and game knowledge, our newer players don’t log on until NA prime. Your presence would help tremendously, as we often lack steady EU commanders, but have very steady NA commander presence, and a surprisingly stable SEA presence with 2 dedicated Korean commanders who lead EB/borderlands overnight.
We have a recruitment thread up, if you would like more details I would advise you checking out the thread “Why Stormbluff Isle is the place to be”
[KEK]
Yes, 6 months later, we still can’t kick people in party in WvW, or weapon swap in the final boss fight in CoF 1. These are basic bug fixes that are completely ignored so more content can be recklessly churned out.
[KEK]
I like SBI! They send Krew warm-fuzzies in our matchup thread! Join them cos our guild wants guilds to fight when we are paired up again! ♥
Thanks for the post. You guys are indeed a great guild and any server is lucky to have you.
Speaking as a member from a frequent opposing server, SBI gets mad respect from us (SoS).
They hit a lot harder than their ranking suggests and are a monster on EBG. Everyone would like to see what they can do if they get some more coverage.
Thanks Chris, fighting SoS is always a tough challenge for our morale with your great Oceanic presence, but we always have a blast fighting you guys on Eternal Battlegrounds as you noted.
[KEK]
Where were you guys friday, saturday and sunday night when we basically did what we wanted to in EB?
I am not a member of BS, so I can’t speak directly for them. But, BP in general doesn’t field huge numbers on weekends. We have lives.
So what you’re really saying is you have lives so you can’t play on the weekends, but since none of you have jobs you can all log on during the week? Thanks for the clarificaiton
[KEK]
Lol @ BS, U mad bro?
Since my last post got deleted, let me rephrase it this way. We don’t care if you take our keep, or our borderlands. We have more fun than you, day in, and day out. You guys are not even in the NA top 10, yet you play for points. All this means is that if you win your matchups, 10 other servers are doing it better than you anyways. While you make your members sit in towers to be static scouts, all of our guys are out having fun because that’s all that matters to us. I pass down this advice from a server who has already been at tier 1, and seen what it does to a community when you inevitably fall from grace. We play for fun, and you play for points. Come on to the forums all you want, we’ll be busy turning you and your guild into loot bags and chasing you into your towers. Stop bragging about beating up an outmanned server and exceptional PvDoor skills. We already come to expect this from BP, and especially the Borlis Savers guild.

I ain’t even mad now. Blowing up the last of your upgraded towers and keeps did wonders for my peace of mind
Wow, bragging about PvDoor again? That must be the only thing you can do.

Why does BP keep patting themselves on the back for capping SBI BL? We’re a PUG Server, we have next to no guild groups. Let’s compare guilds between BP and SBI.
BP:
Krew
DR
WFD
BS?
Lost?
some others.SBI:
?Yes you guys are awesome. Even though we have no guilds on our entire server that can put 20+ people in WvW on any night other than reset, you still think you deserve some kind of trophy for beating us. With exception of DR, and Krew, all of your guilds are terrible. WFD is quite possibly the most pathetic 50 man guild zerg ball I’ve ever seen, they have no skill whatsoever.
SBI is the true server of winners, we do more with less guilds than any server on NA. Find a server outside of tier 8 that has less WvW focused guilds than us. I’ll send 5 gold to any BP or Ebay player who can screen shot a 25+ man guild group from SBI during Tuesday-Friday. Hell I’ll even take one from Friday-Monday. That’s how confident I am they don’t exist.
We beat you and your “guilds” thoroughly on the weekends, it’s no secret we PvE during the weekdays but if we had even one, or maybe two dedicated WvW guilds to keep the morale high during the week, we would kitten you in the kitten all week.
TLDR: BP is bad, they have many large WvW guilds, yet only two of them are good (Krew and DR). The rest are kittenty puggers that only make your server look bad.
Happy hunting.
I have seen BS with 30-35 people wipe SBI zergs of 50+ multiple times today alone. Just because SBI doesn’t have large guilds doesn’t stop them from making large zergs. They just combine multiple guilds that get wiped by BP and then claim that they had less numbers than they really did because they were all from different guilds.
Here we go again. BP bragging that oh look our 30-35 people on voice can beat your 50+, half of whom are upleveled, without consumables and not on voice. You guys are great, can I get your autograph? BP actually thinks that 30-35 people on voice is at a disadvantage against 50+ who are not on voice or using the same level of coordination. Some days our karma train is an excellent fighting force, some days it isn’t. Despite being at a disadvantage fighting BP guild groups, it is not uncommon for our PuG groups to obliterate you in the open field, with no frontline/backline or rotations. The quality of the average player on SBI is just much better than that of BP, and you need massive guild groups on voice chat to disguise this deficiency.
The fact is, a number of people on BP, whether they admit it pubicly or not, know that guilds like WFD are awful at open field fighting. They get wiped time and time again by numerically inferior Ebay guild groups and SBI PuG groups who eat their lunch. On Ebay BL tonight, WFD was described as “free bags”. This will of course be denied, but perhaps some of the Ebay players wiping them at Bay can attest to this.
I might as well add a shout out to Esperanis for bragging about sick PvD skills against the SBI skeleton crew today. You’re bad, and you know it. We’ve taken your eternal keep and garrison a few times this reset with 50-60 of you squirreled away on arrow carts. How often can you say you took keeps against SBI when we had the numbers to put up the same kind of resistance? Never? You play PvDoor for points, and brag about capping empty towers and keeps on our borderlands. How does this make you good?

Stormbluff Isle is a server that has seen the highs and lows of WvW. While our period of glory at Tier 1 is now only a memory, all of the infrastructure built during our period of dominance puts us in a strong position to rebuild.
1. We have a community teamspeak like most other servers, but we make better use of ours. Unlike other servers where guilds are only found on their own VoiP, every guild can be readily found while they are raiding on our community teamspeak. This makes communication between our borderlands much easier. This is especially useful in off peak hours where many groups from our NA Prime guilds get together and maintain our presence in WvW during EU, SEA, and Oceanic Primetime.
2. We have a community forums that is among the most impressive in the game. If you don’t believe me, see for yourself: http://www.stormbluffisle.com/. The forums has member’s only sections that are used to coordinate server wide WvW events, most recently Ladies Night in WvW:
http://www.stormbluffisle.com/index.php/wvw/item/225-women-commanders
9/1 Update: Big little night (Community asura zerg)
http://stormbluffisle.com/index.php/wvw/item/241-big-little-night
3. Every server claims they have a strong community, but we can actually back up this claim. Every person who wanted to transfer off the server when we dropped from Tier 1 already did. The people who have stayed show up night in and night out to fight for SBI, and genuinely wish to see the best for our server. The people who have transferred to SBI in recent times have not been on multiple servers, and are intent on making SBI their final destination. They came to SBI because of this community that they wanted to play a part in.
Still don’t believe me? Take it from a member of the guild Dragonriders [DR] on Borlis Pass who said in a recent matchup thread:
Moorecore.6349: “I have always had fun fighting SBI even way back when i was on SoS and SBI was with us in T1. SBI as a whole has a very nice and respectable community and that is something to be proud of.”
4. We have a growing number of home grown NA Prime guilds as well as new additions from other servers. We all work together in WvW, and you’ll commonly see us working together in the open field to achieve the greater good. We work especially hard to maintain a strong home borderlands defense. We train the enemy early in the week that the home borderlands will bring them nothing but repair bills and misery.
Without overselling you, I find it is equally important to list server weaknesses, as well as the strengths. If I were a guild considering a new server, I would want to make sure I understand the full picture before I shelled out the money to do so.
1. If you like to zergbust in EB exclusively, you may find that our longest queue time (and generally only outside of reset night) is consistently EB. This is a result of EB being a rallying point for post-exodus SBI members when we no longer had the coverage to keep up with servers in our tiers as we dropped to our equilibrium point. EB was where one map could be filled and we could show servers that SBI was down, but it was never going to be out..
2. We lack reliable Oceanic/SEA coverage, like most of the other servers around our ranking. Despite this, we have a dedicated NA playerbase who is willing to stay up all night in lieu of organized guilds providing SEA coverage. While many of our players have jobs/school and cannot do this, when we have our common All-Nighter events, we produce the illusion that we have a very strong Oceanic/SEA coverage.
9/1 Update: The influx of new guilds has improved our Oceanic coverage dramatically. Take it from a BP player:
bradderzh.2378: “SBI has fronted a number of new guilds this week too. Skillful ones too. But they seem to play during my timezone (Australia) which has never been borlis’ strong point.”
We will continue to grow in the Oceanic timeslot, and we have the most potential to lure Oceanic/SEA of the needy NA servers, since many of these guilds used to call SBI home and are in the talks of coming home.
If you would like to know more, please send me a mail in game at Radioactive.1248, and we can coordinate a time convenient for you to talk over VoiP.
Finally, remember, Stormbluff Isle isn’t just another server, it’s Home.

It really seems to me Darkhaven just lost all of their moxie that they had last week. Granted they got away with a lot of 2v1ing sbi with kaineng, and kaineng with SBI, and now that they can’t do this their PPT evaported. We also got confused and found ourselves owning Darkhaven borderlands on more than one occasion.:

Regardless looking forward to a good matchup with you guys this week, feels like old times, at least you guys come out to fight unlike BP and NSP, so kudos for that.
Heres to a great week, and a great start on SBI BL tonight (nice presence there CD).
[KEK]
BP isn’t perfect, but it isn’t anything like SBI.Get caught cheating and then try so hard to cover for it. What happened was much easier to explain. They got caught cheating, and are now trying to figure a way out of the impending punishment.
Anyone who cheats, even if unintentional, should get a permaban. You can’t easily say who did it on purpose, and who did it by accident. So ban them all. It’s better to make a few people mad and have a good play environment.
Of course SBI won’t agree with that, and we all know why.
Ok maybe BP’s forum skills aren’t on par with Maguuma after all. This is the worst troll post I’ve ever seen.
It isn’t a troll. People can claim “oh I went through the gate by accident” all they want. The reality is I have more time in wvw than most people on these threads. Yet I have never, not once, went through a gate inappropriately.
So yeah, permaban. Don’t care which server you are on, if you cheat you deserve to be gone. I will report anyone on either side I see cheating when I can. It’s hard sometimes because you get blown up while trying to do it.
It’s not even cheating. People aren’t going through the gate on purpose, they get through on accident and are killed trying to go back to the proper side of the gate as the photos show. There were people from BP and SBI doing this and it was clearly unintentional. You are amusingly mindless, why would someone ever be banned for being teleported to the other side of the gate for doing nothing other than standard PvD activity.
[KEK]
As the commnader on SBI last night while all of the glitching was happening, I can confirm it indeed was a surprise to many of our players who glitched in. When a few people on teamspeak found themselves dead on the other side of the door, they often complained that they were not even standing near the gate, but rather just thrown to the other side from a great distance away from the gate. As this also happened to me and many others near the water gate of Overlook keep, it seriously is just a massive game bug that has been present for the duration of this reset that ANet has as of yet failed to address. I don’t ever feel the need to cheat to win when I command on EB or any other map. I come on for fun, bags, and the camaraderie that we have built up as a server.
Call us a talentless, mindless zerg, call us what you want, it’s all fair in love and war. I don’t really put much stock into what the forum chest thumpers from any server have to say, I generally just know that every server claims the following:
1. Our server wins every battle, usually when there is at least double the number of the enemy.
2. Our server doesn’t care about points, we only want the fights, your server is just point hugging and can’t fight.
3. Our server is clearly better coordinated.
4. Your server is so easy to kill, it’s like they do not even wear armor.
5. Nobody on your server roams, on my level 80 full exotic and ascended roamer, I easily kill upleveled level 4 human warriors on the day they bought the game. I’m awesome.
[KEK]
(edited by Radioactive.1248)
This is not good, we are walking through gates unintentionally, we don’t want to be accused of cheaitng, this is in the sbi-bp-nsp matchup in EB.
[KEK]
I’m an SBI commander who commands EB occasionally, Star Player in game. I have to say, for all the AR trash talk directed at SBI in regards to our tacticless zergs (that you lose to in open field fights 80% of the time on EB), you only do a few things that really impress me.
-You spend countless amounts of money on upgrades for towers/keeps, it’s something SBI does not do well, even ones you have almost no chance of keeping like AP or MG.
-You effectively siege up towers, and have people man and refresh the siege
-You play for points on the borderlands, even if it means tons of omega golems.
At the end of the day however, you can’t come close to touching SBI in open field fights. Obviously, open field fights don’t increase our PPT, but it’s what most of the people on SBI pride ourselves for. I stopped playing for points when Warmachine started the exodus from SBI, it’s just for fun and lootbags now.

In all MMOs there will be elitism, it’s a fact of life. As was indicated, DPS meters do not necessarily result in elitism, and more than likely, the truly elite groups won’t have pubs that would be there only to be ridiculed anyways. There will still be plenty of groups for casual players, in casual builds, with no DPS requirements.
[KEK]
Restricted group access has already been happening in GW2, just look at gw2lfg, where you see full berzerker/mesmer only parties farming COF 1 because they have “max dps”, if anything, a DPS meter would allow other classes to design builds with dps high enough to break the warrior/mesmer trend.
