We’re going to fix the mastery unlock issue in an upcoming patch, as well as add the unlock to the Bandit Trio encounter. We apologize for any confusion that occurred, especially to Gaile to sending her the incorrect information!

Thanks for the update, Crystal

It’s a test of dedication. If you can’t grasp that fact, then that’s your problem.

As for wipe farming, it’s a deliberate abuse.

insanemaniac, i think your idea is hard to implement. It is more easy (and more fair) just sell li for shards like 15/each. This means even if you fail long enough with randoms you can buy li. Shards are also limited == time gate, but you can farm it even with bad groups.

No.

This encourages the path of least resistance, people will just wipe farm VG for shards and buy the LI.

If they do allow shards to be bought, the only way I’d agree to it is 150 shards per LI and only AFTER you’ve cleared a wing in a given week.

You can’t farm VG for shards.

Raids have limits http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Magnetite_Shard == 100 per week before w3 update and 150 shards after w3 update. And i believe you can’t farm all 150 from VG, i think maximum is ~30 (i don’t know exactly never wiped on him so long and never counted, but i know after long wipes on other bosses you receive “red mark” as loot that means you got maximum shards from this event).

150 shards = 10 li per week maximum = time gate anyway if you are unlucky. But people without static groups still have a chance to receive armor if they can kill all bosses and complete all collections.

I don’t say it should be exactly 15, but something near it. Also arena can add another conversion like 1 li to 10 shards for example if you have excess of li.

Wipe farming = farming shards by deliberately failing.

Actually, you can farm VG. Every time VG is killed, you get an event chest with 8 shards (you can re-enter with a person who hasn’t killed VG). Every attempt after reaching a certain phase also awards shards.

So what if there’s a cap per event? People will simply move onto another boss event that can be wipe farmed for more shards.

The point is, if you give people the option of wipe farming bosses without ever needing to succeed, they will find a way to make it work and hit shard cap without ever defeating a boss.

That is completely unacceptable.

To me these exceptionally long time gates might be an indication that future raids are way further off than some think,as in its all your getting better make it last.

The raids team stayed on track and consistently released wings every 3.5 months or so with a small team of developers. I see no reason for their momentum to slow down now, just because they’ve completed one raid.

So the folk that are ok with 150 LI and a minimum 4 month time gate are ok with long time gates in general, and if 4 month is ok were does it stop, how long do you guys think is to long?would 6 months or even a full year not be all the more epic and legendary ?I suspect it is only ok to some of you because to you its not a gate, its past tense.

I fully expected to spend a year’s worth of time gates to make a full set of Legendary armour, even with the 6 armour pieces being equivalent to 1 weapon in terms of cost. Anyone who didn’t expect a long time gate is deluding themselves.

Raids are not meant to be pugged, so you have no right to complain if you are unable (doesnt matter what reason) to make a static group or find a raid guild. Every raid boss kill you get while pugging should be just considered a nice bonus.

Oh really? Either you are right and Anet is wrong or Anet is right and you are wrong.
If raids aren’t meant to be pugged. Whats this? Looks like something design just for pugging. go figure.

ANet said in the same interview that it would take a group of exceptional players to successfully PUG raids. Most of the PUGs in LFR aren’t that good. Most of the really good PUGs only raid at reset at 00:30 PST on Monday.

ANet didn’t design raids to be PUGed. They expected players to be well coordinated and clearing them in static groups where each player knows each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and classes played to form a group composition. It takes a group of exceptional players to adapt to each other’s play styles quickly and form a close to ideal group composition with whatever classes they have on hand.

Valid reason is – IT REQUIRES GROUP OF 10 PEOPLE. IT IS HARD TO FIND RANDOM 10 PEOPLE WITH DECENT SKILL. What is so hard to understand for you?

You’ve clearly never tried.

I was in the same boat 7 weeks ago. I had no experience with any boss besides VG. I tried to join an experienced group and asked them to give me a chance to prove myself. They didn’t invite me. I found another guild (with some effort) willing to give me that chance. Within two weeks of raiding with them (which was frankly about 4-5 2-3 hours sessions over two weeks), guess what happened? The original guild that didn’t invite me to their group makes it a point to invite me when forming a raid group.

PUGs aren’t the only means to find static groups. Many guilds have training runs for new raiders to learn mechanics, and the ones who make the effort to do well in those get into static groups.

I now have more than two guilds to raid with. All in the space of 7 weeks.

your definition of success is different from mine.to me success is doing your best with what you got.and if your happy with 150 insights good for you, seems thats what we got.
but since i come on this forum as a means of communicating my dissatisfaction to anet how you feel about it is irrelevant.

Anet stated that the number of insights needed would be balanced around players who played regularly and successfully. Since they set it at 150 insights total for all six pieces of legendary armor, that would imply every week and clearing the available wing(s). It obviously does not mean clear only those bosses which you’re capable of clearing.

I am free to disagree with you that there is an issue just as you are free to disagree with me that there isn’t. Neither side’s position is irrelevant.

And it obviously means anet wants us to repeat content long after we beet all the raid bosses and finished the collection for no other real reason but to add artificial life span to that content.

MMOs won’t survive without replayability. Frankly, even single-player games are including things for replay value just so they can ensure players keep playing it, and in doing so, get their friends to play the game as well.

Legendary armour isn’t the best, it’s stats is the same as Ascended armour. So are Legendary weapons. All you get for Legendary is skins and the convenience of stat changing.

The ones who raid consistently and successfully aren’t entitled to Legendary armour – they deserve it for the effort they put in. The ones complaining about armour being locked behind raids are the entitled ones.

As for ANet choosing armour, suck it up. The players who enjoy raids didn’t ask for Legendary armour either (in fact, the entire player base wanted something beyond Ascended armour for a while, and ANet chose to make the armour more meaningful by giving it as a reward for effort, something which core legendary weapons didn’t receive – it was far too simple to whip out a credit card and buy legendary weapons, and there’s absolutely nothing legendary about that).

facts
anet sell gems
gems buy gold
gold buys runs
anet set number of runs hence price at 150 LI
All true
Now of course its in some peoples interest to argue that 150 insights are fine they could be the ones selling the runs.NOW what part of what im saying isnt true?
You might not like what i say,but it is true.Anet didnt directly sell the last lot of legendary but thy were sold and anet made profit. Its just on a whole different scale this time.

Individually, those things may be true. However, you’re implying a correlation between all of them that requires stretching the imagination to a breaking point.

Translation: you’re talking out of your kitten .

Frankly, you’re probably the only one who thinks “well, kitten , I’m too casual to get 9 insights per week by actually killing the bosses, lemme blow $100 per week on gems to get the gold to buy full clears just so I can have Legendary armour”. And then you have the nerve to imply ANet does that on purpose to force the casual playerbase to do the exact same thing you do if they want Legendary armour.

The number of insights needed should not have been balanced around hard core raiders.
And in the ama the anet dev mentions balanced around raiding regular.wtf has raiding
regular got to do with killing every single raid boss every single week for a minimum of 4 months.

You missed the second part of the quote: “regularly and successfully”. That should be self-explanatory, but let me spell it out:
Regular – do raids often during the week.
Successful – actually kill the bosses as opposed to wipe-farming VG every week.

Only the players who dedicate time to raiding and actually defeating bosses will be able to achieve the 150 LI.

If you choose to buy runs just because you don’t want to put in the effort to find a good raid group, learn the mechanics, and actually do the fights, that’s entirely on you. Don’t blame others.

Secondly, Forsaken Thicket is the place for Legendary Armor. It wouldn’t make sense for LI s to drop anywhere else and I don’t see why people think it would be logical to add it to every raid. I remember being mentioned future raids might reward us with Legendary trinkets , so probably instead if LI we get something that’s needed to craft those

The logical thing to do would keep all of the Legendary armour recipes nearly identical except for the precursor (obtained through a thematic collection for each raid), as is the case with most of the gifts required for the Legendary weapons (except for HoT legendaries, where one of the gifts is tied to the final collection).

If you want to tie a legendary armour set to a particular raid, there is no better way to do that than the precursor collection and keep everything else identical.

Forsaken Thicket is a place for a SET of legendary armor, with a pair of collections to go with it (the first tied to the raid itself, and the second to open world activities). That format will most likely be repeated for future raids.

As for not expecting a future raid any time soon – Living Story Season 3 has been said to come with it’s own raid, and the timing of Season 3’s release (assume end of August) will be about 2.5 months after Wing 3 (additional 2-4 weeks to let the Season 3 story settle in before the new raid wing).

4 month time gate is very long, there is no reasonable justification why the average player shouldn’t be able to complete it in the minimum amount of time or moderately close to it.

4 months is the initial time-gate. The more raids they release, the faster it will be. The raid team has pretty good momentum as it is, so I don’t see them slowing down any time soon. Legendary insights will be easier to get as time goes on. With one more raid wing, we’ll be down to 3 months. With 2 more wings, it’ll be down to 10 weeks. With two full raids (if they maintain 3 wings per raid), that’ll be 2 months.

Of course it will get easier over time for those who already find it easy.going from 100 to 150 will be a walk over.fFor anyone thinking of just getting into raids to get themselves a nice new set of legendary armor then they face the time spent trying to find a group plus all the fails then this massive unnecessary grind will probably be a tad off putting.

That’s their problem. Many of us who are consistently raiding put in the effort, dealt with the problems head-on, and came out on top. If people are unwilling to put in the same amount of effort, then that’s on them. This isn’t an unnecessary grind, as Legendary armor wasn’t targeted at everyone. The intention behind the Insight requirement was so that dedicated and successful raiders (who’ve worked hard towards that goal) can get it fairly easily, and that is true.

I agree with you, but I would like to add a disclaimer;

It can be somewhat inaccurate to say “worked hard”. I have not “worked hard” at all in my opinion — I have just been playing raids and having fun — but I am still close to 150 LI’s. It isn’t a matter of “work” so much as…“persistence”? No, that word doesn’t quite fit either. The point I’m trying to make is Raiding doesn’t have to be a job/chore. Really, it’s a super fun experience that is awesome to do every week! And before you know it, you’ll be on your way to getting legendary armor in addition to having fun.

If that makes any sense.

I suppose it depends on when you start. If you started raiding from the beginning, then it’s not too hard as you learned with everyone else. I started late, so I had some trouble getting into raids initially, and I had to push myself a bit harder to learn mechanics quicker to get to the point where I’m at now. It also took a fair bit of convincing to let groups give me a chance (failing that, I got into a guild and proved that I was a quick learner and joined a static team). It is a fun experience if you treat it as such. I certainly enjoy raiding every week and try to raid often as possible (including helping people out once I’ve gotten my weekly kill).

My point is, it takes some effort to get into raids and to get to the point where you can clear bosses consistently, while keeping the experience fun.

anet set the price at 150 insights over 34000g= £2000 UK

The buying/selling price of insights isn’t set by ArenaNet, the players set that. If you want to blame anyone, blame the raid sellers.

Insights can be essentially free (aside from the time commitment) if more players made the effort to raid, and it really does not take as much effort as people claim. I’ve only been raiding for just over 7 weeks, and I can clear all three wings in 2 nights at 2-3 hours per night. (Aside from Xera, but she’s not much difficult from other Wing 3 bosses).

Faction provisioner weapons are much cheaper crafted. Approximately Should be about 60-70s per token.
Icy runestones won’t be needed. The recipes for upgrading to Legendary is known. Condensed Might/Magic are the biggest cost, period.

Equivalent value of non-buyable things for karma/spirit shards/whatever – these are true for Legendary weapons as well. Recipe cost of of buying from Miyani is also the same for those, since legendary weapons require condensed might/magic.

All materials needed for full set: http://dulfy.net/2016/06/17/gw2-legendary-armor-collection-crafting-guide/#Total_Materials These recipes are in-game and most likely final.

The things you mention, overestimated, add up to about 3300g. There’s nothing more to account for beyond that, unless you deliberately want to include the equivalent value of every little thing, which people value differently. Some people may see 750 spirit shards in terms of shards -> gold, but I see it as something dirt cheap that I have never been able to get rid of – the more I spend it, the more I seem to remain at 750.

150 (25 per piece) is very fine. No changes needed. After all a set of armor is 6 pieces and should take a lot of effort to get 6 legendaries.

No, dont lower the LI, lower the insane amount of T6 mats…

Seconded!

Also disagree on this one. 100 T6 mats per legendary is not insane. It is very generous

Uhm… you do realise it’s 100 of each t6 per PIECE of armor, meaning you need 600 of each t6 mat for one full set of armor. Is that still generous?! What happened to “crafting a set of legendary armor will cost about the same as a legendary weapon”? Last I checked, a legendary weapon needs less than half that, or even a third (depending on which set of legendary weapon).

HoT legendary weapons are consistently 3-3.3k gold. The 6 Gifts of Condenses Might and Magic, at current prices, will be around 2400-2600g. Including other costs, 3000g seems to be the rough cost of the Legendary Armor set.

There’s your comparison. HoT legendaries were what Anet probably had in mind when they said 1 weapon = 1 armor set. Core legendary prices are all over the place, from around 1000g to craft underwater weapons, to upwards of 2.4k gold for the greatswords, excluding Eternity.

Is it to late to raid?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Rashy.4165

I thought it was too late 7 weeks ago when I started raiding, by which time, Wing 2 had been out for a couple of months, and Wing 1 for about 5 months, but no, it wasn’t too late. I’ve been raiding consistently since then and can clear Wing 1 and 2 easily, along with potentially Wing 3 with a good group.

Put in the effort to join a raiding guild, and learn mechanics quickly, and you’ll be golden. Gear up at least two characters (Revenant, PS War, Tempest are among the classes that are most desired aside from Druid and Chrono) in Exotic armor and Ascended weapons/trinkets.

Is it, really. Are you sure?

Since then he joined us (and killed): VG+gors+Xera. And joined a pug group and killed KC. Again, it did not take him more then 20-30 min. to find a pug group. And thats with barely any LI and no tonic etc.

But he do actually open lfg up and look in it once in a while..

I had a somewhat related experience:
I actively tried to join PUGs, but sadly, never got into any groups. So, I joined a friend’s guild, one that did consistent clears of both wings (although not as consistent on Matthias). Considering I had barely any experience, I told my friend that all I wanted was exposure to the mechanics, and I will figure it out quickly, and did not expect to be carried. I wasn’t invited to that guild’s raid groups, and my fried who invited me to the guild didn’t often raid with them to begin with (he prefers PUG clearing at reset). He’s kind of a weird guy, so all he would tell me to do is “gitgud”. I knew he was kidding, but I took it upon me as a challenge.

I joined a guild that was recruiting new and experienced raiders to fill out static teams. This guild did teamless raids (essentially, pick up groups formed within the guild, usually with half experienced members and half inexperienced members). I did two such teamless raids. In my first one, we downed Sabetha and VG, with me on cannons for the first ever time on Sabetha (I played daredevil for that fight). I struggled initially, but once our group started sticking to the cannon order, we downed her without breaking a sweat. The second teamless raid was my first foray into Salvation’s Pass on a new class, for me: Revenant. We defeated Slothasor on the second pull (I unknowingly dropped poison on the group twice, which I caught on recording), Trio in one try (well, it was face roll … ) and almost had Matthias down after 4 attempts (10-15%). We probably would have killed Matthias if we had more time. Not too bad for a group made of up of half the team going into SP for the first time.

Not long after that, the guild that initially didn’t invite me to groups always invites me into their raid group the moment they see me online, on their main raid nights (Monday) and other raid nights when they need me to fill in a role (usually Revenant, or DPS).

It’s only a long time at current Legendary Insight rates of 9 per week. If future raids include Insights as a drop (I certainly hope so as it would be logical and consistent), it will become quicker to reach 150 by clearing every available wing every week. At 9 per week, it’s 17 weeks. At 12 per week, it’s 13 weeks. At 15 per week, it’s 10 weeks. That number will keep dropping.

You could argue: “well, it may not be possible to clear all 9/12/15/x bosses every week” but the counter-argument to that: the longer raids are out, the quicker it will be to clear a wing due to the amount of practice people will have with bosses. PUG clears of Spirit Vale only take about 40 minutes now, less if each boss is killed in one-shot and minimal time is spent waiting. Salvation’s pass can also be one-shot, including Matthias, with a consistent group that knows how to deal with mechanics. Stronghold can also be one-shot with minimal effort, and it’s only been out for less than 2 weeks.

I’ve only been raiding for 7 weeks and I’m already at the point of clearing Spirit Vale and Salvation’s Pass in a single 2-3 hour session with a consistent group (PUG or static), and I know what it takes to get a consistent run of Stronghold too (haven’t defeated Xera, but I know the strategy to get her down).

Experienced here could refer to amount of practice as opposed to actual kills. Someone really consistent with Keep Construct’s orb pushing is desired for that fight for a more consistent kill. The more exposure you’ve had to mechanics, the more likely you are to contribute to a fairly quick kill.

Of course, I’ve had other kinds of groups too: ones with little experience, but over the course of our attempts, got well enough to get Xera down to 20%. Our main problem was composition and not clearing bloodstone shards quick enough.

Experienced with raids in general is desired as it shows dedication to raid progression.

A Note about the Next Raid Wing

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Rashy.4165

Rashy.4165

Now, you say you can level a full mastery track just doing the raid, ok fair counter point, so, I guess the question now is, is it really feasible to gain the 13 million Exp doing just the raid?

The compendiums give a fair amount of exp. Probably about 200-300k per boss kill. The events in between also give exp. For 3 bosses per wing, that’s up to 1.8m exp without boosters. Throw in a booster and that gets bumped up a bit more. Let’s reduce that down to 1.5m exp per week, since the compendiums are from the weekly chest. Works out to just 9 weeks of clearing both wings. A bit longer if you don’t clear Matthias (since some groups can still have trouble with him). Raids have been out since what, November? That’s 6 months or 24+ weeks.

That’s not including the bits and pieces of exp you get for killing other things in the raids, as well as the sub-encounters. You still get a small chunk of exp for killing a boss repeatedly each week, even if the compendium is weekly.

So yes, theoretically possible to max out Leyline solely from raiding. The mastery points are a non-issue, you don’t have to touch adventures to get enough to max out only Gliding.

Legendary armors & switch runes

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Rashy.4165

Rashy.4165

What we really need is a complete overhaul of how runes and sigils work, along with addition of build templates/loadouts.

The least complex way to do it would be to combine minor, major, and superior sigils and runes (numbers balanced based on relative supply) into a permanent rune or sigil that can be placed in a separate slot that’s decoupled from the weapon (similar to PvP). Due to the high cost of some of the superior runes/sigils, those will need more sources to balance the overall cost of the permanent rune/sigils.

There will always be people making permanent runes and sigils ensuring a continuous sink of minor/major/superior ones.

Infusions are fine as is (method of acquisition), but need to be decoupled from the armor/weapons/trinkets as well.

Remove both the upgrade and infusion extractors. Freely slotting them in removes the need for both.

The other option is to replicate the PvP build interface. The permanent rune/sigil could be an unlock item which unlocks the upgrade account-wide. Infusions themselves can be done that way too (with some form of compensation for extra ones made). This would make it easier to gear out alt characters. Then they can be slotted into armor/weapons/trinkets using a dropdown menu which has all of your unlocked upgrades.

A Note about the Next Raid Wing

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Rashy.4165

You lot would be surprised how many experienced and skilled players are at endgame and don’t have 100, let alone 166 mastery points. I’ve run T4 fractals with quite a few people in the 10K+ AP range who fit this description.

To be fair though, it really isn’t hard to max gliding, unless you’ve made the mistake of spending all your points on the other mastery lines. For months people have been advising others to make sure they max gliding first, both here and in-game, so I don’t think this will be much of an issue for the raiding community.

That said, earning masteries isn’t a simple matter of ‘playing the game’. Let’s be honest – many of them require completion of a number of unsatisfying and often frivolous achievements that under other circumstances, would be entirely ignored.

There are only a small number of essential masteries depending on what you want to do. Gliding and updrafts are essential for story, Exalted 1 as well, iirc. Bouncing mushrooms helps too. Beyond that, it’s a matter of preference. For specialization collections, you need a few more such as Itzel language, nuhoch language, exalted acceptance/gathering, stealth gliding, etc. You can still get all of those and Leyline gliding without doing many adventures (I’ve only gotten gold on 2-3 adventures and have Leyline gliding done).

So wait.. Population is booming, yet solo queue was taken away because of low numbers? Hmm me thinks someone somewhere gave us false information.

The two important points:
- PvP population has been steadily increasing for a year.
- PvP population sky-rocketed when the game went free-to-play (~2 weeks ago).

The third relevant piece of info:
- Solo/TeamQ was removed in December 2014 (~9-10 months ago).

The important thing to take away is that PvP population is booming RIGHT NOW, not when Solo/TeamQ was removed.

4) Are they 2nd accounts? Are they accounts trying to get top LB’s or even “hack”

You do realize this point is meaningless right? Leaderboard rankings are frozen. Winning matches in Ranked arena holds little meaning right now.

Great news about the free to play thing, but when 90% of people on the forums REALLY want soloq, there is no denying it

Correction: 90% of the vocal minority on forums.

As it stands, there is no difference between ranked and unranked PvP regardless of whether you queue as a team or by yourself, yet people still take ranked PvP way too seriously to the point where it’s a problem that they’re being curbstomped by a group of premade teams. It WAS a problem during the test leaderboards (which was the only time ranked PvP had any purpose), and that was largely a population issue (if there were enough premade teams queuing up for ranked PvP, then it wouldn’t be a problem), since Matchmaking heavily relied on it. Hopefully, it won’t be a problem moving forward, and with Leagues matching teams up within a particular bracket, it should be a lot better. The only possibility I can think of is having a small pool of teams in the Legendary tier, which means you’d be facing the same premade team often – but if you’re going in as a premade, that shouldn’t be a huge issue as the matches would be fairly close (on average).

That said, there probably won’t be any new permissions for a long while.

That works. Thanks for the response

It has likely already been considered, but the “Edit” option should allow us to change the permissions associated with a particular API key. Currently, the only way to do it is to create a new key with the new permissions and delete the old key, then update whatever application with the new key.

If there’s a valid reason for why that’s not available, that’s fine (whether it be a limitation with OAuth, or perhaps for security purposes).

Fractals are a far more practical approach to dungeons, and with 100 levels available, that’s a theoretical limit of 100 unique Fractals while sticking to a static schedule. Adding paths to existing dungeons isn’t as practical (we only got one path – Aetherblade in Twilight Arbor).

What I would expect to see though, is slight re-balancing of some of the paths and revamped rewards to make a bit more sense. Some paths are just annoying to do because they take too long and don’t give as much reward. Then there are other paths that are way more interesting to do, but are rarely run due to the effort to reward not being worth it (Aetherpath).

Plus it means that the name isn’t taken at that moment but by the time you create an alt it could be … I like the OP’s idea, it’s elegant.

What you do once you find a name, is make a generic character with no customization, but has the name. Then delete the character. The name is reserved for 24 hours. Plenty of time for character creation.

Usually I can have a character created in about 10-60 minutes (not many options to really spend time on it, eg. I’d spend hours on Aion’s character creation) after checking its availability, so it’s not really a problem. Would be nice to have that right on the creation screen though.

You can always type the name in your friend’s list ahead of time to see if it’s taken instead of buying a name change contract or waiting till you get to the name part of character creation.

Huh. Did not know that. Although, it is still of a roundabout way of going about it.

Made a mockup of a minor change to the character creation which will help immensely which name choices.

Currently, I use a name change contract to check if a name is available, as it has a checkmark that tells me that before I click on “change name”. Clicking on “change name” then brings up the confirmation popup, which is fine. Once I’ve ascertained a name is available, I go into character creation and use the name.

Similarly, character creation should have that notification as well. Right now, if a name isn’t available, a popup appears saying so. If a name is available, the only way you’ll know that is if you click “Create” and the character is created instantly. The minor inconvenience here is that if you don’t like the spelling of the character name you just created, you would have to delete the character and start over, and then change the spelling. It would be nicer if the character creation window told you whether a name is available or not before you hit the “Create” button, so that you can keep changing the name until you find a spelling you like.

Mockup attached.

So Disappointed After The First Beta

in Revenant

We’re missing an offensive Legend for now, and also an entire trait line (each one seems to match the Legend). So far, we have Demon Mallyx for conditions, Jalis for tankyness, and Ventari for healing/support. There’s at least two more that’s been datamined (Shiro? and Glint) that isn’t available yet, so as far as balance goes, Revenant is incomplete.

The original pre-purchase was the same. I got a thin case with nothing but a pre-purchase code inside (pre-purchased the CE), which is used to register it to gain the bonuses. The actual game and disc (and another game code to prove you have gotten the retail version) will come at launch.

Seeing as they mention guild missions, I’m beginning to suspect that they are fobbing off the smaller guilds.

The Guild mission format is changing though, it won’t be how it is right now. As for missions, it’s theoretically (and practically, with effort) possible to do all of them with as little as 6 players.

Time will tell.

There’ll be a blog post dedicated to Guild missions tomorrow.

The ones working on DX12 are bigger players in the gaming industry (Microsoft), hardware manufacturers (Nvidia, AMD, Intel), etc. Other gaming companies are working on modified versions of their game engine for DX12 (CryEngine, Unreal 4, Frostbite, among others). Some of those engines are also being ported to work with OpenGL for cross-platform support (OSX/Linux, Source 2.0 by Valve is one of them).

ArenaNet is still on their in-house engine, which is running on DX9. DX12 wouldn’t be a practical upgrade for them short of developing the engine from scratch (they’d have to dedicate a lot of resources for that, while maintaining the game post-expansion, and then convert the game to the new engine).

and btw you don’t value an entertainment on duration, you value an entertainment on quality

And truly high quality entertainment keeps you coming back for more.

I’d intended to do that since the expansion was announced and I have no regrets.

The blog posts mentioned that bigger guilds won’t have an advantage over smaller ones, which implies that small guilds will still be able to progress through Guild halls the same as a big guild. It was one of the most requested features from the CDIs on Guild halls – catering to small guilds, and it wouldn’t make much sense to ignore that while covering everything else that was requested from the CDIs.
