I really mean it, Kyle’s mom… um, Dragon Bash merchant is very mean. He wants me to confirm every single purchase of every single item! I understand the mechanism for the wings, and maybe Jorbreaker (as this is much more investment), but 5 Zhaitaffy? To save someone from miss clicking and wasting 40c (TP price, 8c per Zhaitaffy) people have to spend a LOT of time to buy food they want?
So I click buy, move mouse, click confirm, move mouse. And again. Again. Again. Zzzzz… Please fix or send me a trained monkey to do it for me
Solutions:
- Shift + Click (on buy) force buys (surpress the confirmation box)
- Add a quantity in the confirmation box
Temporary workaround (courtesy of Lord Kuru.3685):
I move the merchant window so that the buy button appears in the same location as the confirmation button. That way, it’s just a double click for purchase: no mouse movement necessary!

Also encountering this lag. When it spike hits me, I tunnel my connection through Poland and the game is mostly okay. Friends that connect directly from Poland don’t have any problems at all.
ISP: Talk Talk
Location: East Midlands, UK
Server: Blacktide
Connecting from UK, EU server. Up to few days ago everything was fine. Recently though, I’ve been having some connection related issues: around 8-9pm UK time a massive lag strikes (behaviour like skill lag in WvW) which usually ended in DC (back to character selection screen).
When this lag occurs, I reroute my connection through Poland (using ssh tunnel) and the game runs fine (minus increased latency from ssh tunnel). This only happens in the evening (roughly 8-9pm UK time), and most of the time connection is fine.
Also it should show all the green dots for all the people of your server in WvW on the whole map… not only people nearby. Would help much more to just look at the map without asking where people are(if there is no commander and you don’t know where to go).
I’d be happy with just guildmates behaving like that. While we are at it, guildmates should also have a different color on map (goldish, like tag names).
They are aware of it:

Make them work like catapults / trebuchets. Rotate using skill 1 and 3 (obviously faster than catapult, as ACs are way smaller), charge using skill 2 (distance, can be faster than catapult again), and select arrow type (normal, cripple, bleeding) using 4.
They can stay as powerful as they are, but using now requires some skill (and dedication) to actually hit non-afkers. It’s impossible to (too) quickly change the direction, the farther the target is the lower the firing ratio (longer charge). Plus we get rid of LoS hacking (zoomhacks, or so called 17 monitor display / 12800×1024 resolution bug).
There, “problem solved”
I think it means that servers are gaining momentum, both upward and downward. We are about to get out of tier stagnation… I think
Blacktide must have played against the Dzags recently, and learned something.
Yes we did play against Dzags, not sure if we learnt anything though ;D
Actually, this is the first time (since I can remember) that we have a second matchup in a row against a stronger enemy (usually we would pop-out of T9 for one week, and then drop down). As of that, our morale are high (thanks to a different matchup, if we had to fight WSR and Dzag another week, it would probably go down), and we are carrying the “to-arms” momentum we had built up during last week.
From BT point of view, this matchup is really nice (although obviously UW is way bigger than us or RoF). Now that we have enemies to fight with it even looks like we are getting better coverage. I hope we can roll a T8 next week too.
P.S. I won’t be talking about loot-bags as it sounds pejorative. Hope you RoFs enjoyed killing me few times on your BLs last night though
Merging together NA and EU is possible. Each WvW is a separate server, having 2 maps on a server located in EU and two on a server in NA would be fair (lag-wise). Actually, the oceanic connection is pretty good now (for West Europe at least), and you can play WvW with decent latency. You will be far more affected by skill lag / client side (rendering) lag anyway…
====
Merging NA and EU together would solve night capping as there would be no night capping. You’d have close to 100% prime time (with players from Asia that is).
Merging NA and EU together won’t solve population imbalances (bound to happen sooner or later) and as a result – queues / empty maps.
====
Going to elaborate a bit on OPs idea, as I had a similar one a while ago:
Merging server populations (inter or intra region), and creating 3 Factions (whole guild belongs to a faction) would solve population imbalance. Given enough maps (like hundred something to choose from; now there are 204 WvW maps across NA and EU servers), or implementing dynamic map allocation (all maps full, new one opens) would prevent queues and empty maps from happening. Server pride becomes Faction pride. Point wise, scrap total points and leave current income (WvW bonuses in PvE based on current score). Ongoing slaughter.
One place this is a massive issue is on anything that elevates itself above the ground. For instance, world events such as the Shadow Behemoth. You literally can not use grenades for a good part of any of these fights because you can not throw them up.
I use my grenades for the whole Shadow Behemoth event – just target the main pillar (where he’s connected to the ground). You can even keep on hitting him while portals spawn (and target disappear).
Don’t want to copy & paste all 48 pages. Here’s a link: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Arrowcarts-merged/
We used to? Darn, I missed that ;D
I guess you’ll be happy to know that the sides have switched, and Dzagonur is camping us with their sieges at our spawn point
Forget about merging – just close 3 servers (or 6 or 9). People will move more or less equally.
With these randomisation we finally can see the extent of population imbalances. Maybe “they” will see and reduce the number of servers and thus tiers…
transfer, 500 gems isnt so much
As a PvX player (in a PvX guild) I have few problems with transferring, namely:
- I transfer and change guild – I have to leave friends in the old guild.
- I transfer with some active WvW guild mates while staying in my guild – we are a PUG on emigration, guild missions are a pain (cannot see what’s happening), no bonus from WvW progress (can live without it), plus few others.
- I transfer with some active WvW guild mates and we leave our guild – same as 1.
- Whole guild transfers – we loose all upgrades (fully upgraded guild, all unlocked).
- More general one: this content should work “as-it”, not require a special “server” selection for an additional “fee”.
So far transfer is our best option, we are considering 2.
Current situation is bad for everyone in T9: green doesn’t have anyone to fight with, blue and red are not able to fight at all. Latest band-aid on WvW – randomisation of match-ups – will only change nameplates of green players.
I am secretly hoping for the whole EU T9 to be “merged” with other servers (free transfer from T9 followed by closure of T9 servers). Well, if wishes were wings, pigs would fly

Actually, just before BT jumped to T8 for a week an ‘alliance’ to fight off BT was being formed between FoW and Vabbi (some kind of non-aggression pact for respective borderlands AFAIK).
The reason you see high BT activity (and probably FoW too) in Vabbi is because there are objectives to be taken. In the past we fought against FoW mostly, as Vabbi was too small to put a significant resistance (Vabbi does fight well, but their numbers are just too small to make a difference). With you guys it changed a bit for better.
We are both surprised and happy to have a new partner to fight with. So it’s not really a pact with FoW, but a “new kid on the block getting most attention” thing. Wish you could stay for another week and motivate more Vabbiers to play WvW.
Daoc RR was character, War RR was character so it is i n Gw2.
And yet GW2 PvP ranks are account bound.
Indeed. This morning Vabbi had a whole control of their borderland… and upgraded keeps! Got some nice skirmishes with them. See you in the evening

Still the promised “quick” changes have not been implemted…
Quick is a relative term. We still have ongoing Engineer related bugs dating back to beta… If the normal reaction time is counted in several months, then the “quick” version would be a month to two :P
If anything, they will change something on 14 May (Southsun Cove patch).
How does it make a zerg split up? When it takes LESS people to defend than it does to attack how do you really think smaller groups will be able to cap anything? I mean really…
I don’t think he meant to split up and attack different objectives. Getting a tower (and especially a keep) should be a coordinated and group activity. Zerg could split into few groups and attack from different directions. Once one wall is down, each group would wait for other teams to knock down more walls, and only then simultaneously overwhelm defenders (as opposed to current “huzzah, wall down, rush to the lord” behaviour*).
- Going through a single choke point (which defenders are focusing on) SHOULD end in a disaster. As shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE7UcSZuUQY
But that requires planing, organisation, and time. Previous WvW was SO easy (chu chu, karma train on the way). Well, times change and so will Commanders adapt. They will have to plan in advance, identify objectives, and assign roles (as opposed to current “build treb on me”, “push now”).
A lot of people complain about having nothing to do for small teams. Small team shouldn’t be able to capture defended towers (unless they use surprise or defenders are bad). I’d envision small teams to focus on capturing depots (why you need 30+ people to flip a depot? waste of manpower), securing them, disturbing enemy dolyaks, or just roaming (disturbing enemy activity). Once the main team starts bleeding a tower / keep dry enemies will leave their keeps and towers. They will know they need depots and dolyak routes running, otherwise they will lose this fortification. With this system, the successful capture is dependant on such small teams doing their job. You get small scale fight while helping taking a larger objective. Win-win for me.

I’m very happy with current matchup. FoWers got a decent lead on us during the weekend, though we are slowly getting ahead now. You had decent coverage during the weekend and also on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Those fights were really interesting. Heck, even Vabbi put some resistance and owned their borderland while FoW and BT clashed!
It’s 1st of May, some countries have a national holiday (like Poland, were majority of Blacktide’s population come from), while others not. Even if there’s no one to fight right now, I’m pretty sure FoW will be back in the evening.
P.S. New dungeon might have lured some people out of WvW too…
In history successful sieges were those that involved:
1. Treachery / surprise attack (quick)
2. Cutting supplies from the fortress for an extended period of time (slow)
To me it looks like ANet is trying to bring exactly that, we get a 30s delay on attacks (to facilitate quick golem rushes for example) AND a great defensive tool (which slows zergs and enforce more methodical take-over).
As for the change being good or bad – I’m happy with it. But then I am on a lowest tier server and as someone wrote in a different thread – who gives a crap about T7-T9? :P
STEP 1. RUN WITH A ZERG.
Beware! A new enemy was spotted on a horizon… Post-patch Arrow Cart!!!

That would make them short range timed grenades and you’d have to deal with ground targeting. Not sure if it’s worth…
Don’t know what went wrong with the old topic about this but it seems to be deleted…
True, we had a pretty positive thread on Saturday – it probably got nuked because OP was accusing of hacking. People ignored him instead and started a good discussion – a shame we lost that.
Back to the topic – both rumour seem to be true, BT losing a big guild (although not sure which guild, I do see less players from our server) and FoW attracting guilds (again, I noticed some new guild tags amongst them).
In the old thread, someone from FoW mentioned how many people were stuck with map completion and waited for FoW to gain momentum. They might have shown up en masses during the weekend (when all maps were blue). It’s a safe assumption, as someone from FoW also mentioned queues on EB during the weekend.
Personally I am very happy with the current match – the fight seems very balanced, dynamic and interesting. Next week we (BT) are still green, but maybe in two weeks you guys will take the lead. Good luck!
Will we be nerfed again?
I think yes. We are not trees yet ;)
Will it matter though? Nope, I’ll still play my Engie :P
(edited by Ravak.8912)
Same here. We owned a keep for over 24h (no Mesmer would be hiding THAT long). We were defending inner wall when suddenly bang – small group on the walls, out of the blue… Well, we managed to push them back, but I’ve been searching like mad to learn how was that possible. Only valid result so far is this…
1. Grenades
For grenades you need the grenadier trait (extra grenade per throw, extra range) so you need to be level 60. You also have to keep on spamming them (no auto attack). I wouldn’t recommend them even though they have the best dps for engineer (doesn’t matter if it’s condition or power build). Yes, you could use them without the grandmaster trait, but the damage-to-key-spamming-ratio sucks :P
2. Flamethrower
I’ve leveled with FT and elixirs. It was easiest combination for me. FT is easy to use, nicely tag mobs, is good in dynamic events…
I used P/P (condition) but nowadays I’d have chosen Rifle (crowd control) instead. 10 into Speedy Kits (speeds levelling as you move faster), then 30 into Firearms (Juggernaut, precision stat), then 20 into Alchemy (formula 409 to get rid of pesky conditions). At that point it doesn’t really matter (you are level 70, you’ll know what you need and use those final 10 points appropriately). Personally, I went for HGH (30 in Alchemy in total).
If you go into 409, then your skills are pretty obvious: Elixir H (healing), Elixir B (fury, might, swiftness), Elixir ? (S for “oh Shmoe” times, U for extra damage), and FT.
3. Bombs
Bombs are also nice for levelling as in PvE almost all mobs will come to you anyway (you can kite them like a pro). Good build might be 10 into Explosives (to get larger bomb radius) and then go for elixir-infused bombs (bombs will heal you and your “allies”). So again, 10 into Tools for Speedy Kits, 10 into Explosions (Forceful Explosions) and 30 into Inventions. You then have level 60, and can use the remaining 20 points however you like.
===
Whatever you choose, remember that only killing mobs is the WORST way of levelling. Instead, get into a populated zone (around your level) and jump from one dynamic event to another, tagging mobs. Also work on completing a zone (vistas, pois, skillpoints).
It’s all about animation. Linear speed is the same for every race (balance issue), and as your toon is “large” he requires fewer longer steps to cover the same ground.
If you want to feel “fast”, reroll as an Asura – with swiftness he runs “faster” than a drug addict chasing his dealer’s car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hs3FAKkPPWo
For swiftness you also have Elixir B and Medkit #5 With Speedy Kits and those two, you can pre-buff yourself for some LONG swiftness. Boon duration runes (Medkit #5, Elixir B), and fast-acting + potent elixirs (Elixir B ) help in stacking swiftness.
Finally, there’s Slick Shoes toolbelt skill (Super Speed) that gives you twice speed for a brief time (5s).

Don’t escort yaks, escorting gives 0 WXP. Let other people do it.
Here are some more great tips as to how get more WXP: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Guide-How-to-get-alot-of-WXP-fast/first
Keep the zergball rollin’!
Not sure if you still need this alliance – it looks like Blacktide will be moving up… French from Arborstone will be in their stead.
I wouldn’t be playing. One of the main reasons I bought this game was no monthly fees. As a general rule, I don’t play P2P games
