I’m not saying this is the best build, this is just what I personally have found to work best with my play style. I’ve been using it happily for a few months now. It makes use of quickness and raw damage.

I’m using both Longbow and Shortbow at the moment.

(no points change, just traits and skills. Signet of Stone becomes a great Oh-$#%! button. With the increased survivability, I sometimes use a Greatsword or Sword+Off-hand)

[Pets]
-On land I use double canine (Wolf + Fern Hound) pet swapping a lot for extra quickness, switching in a bear for more difficult situations. A lot of people prefer cats, especially condition build players, but I find the damage mixed with knockdowns and AOE fear to be very useful in any situation.

-Underwater I use double Jellyfish (Nice regen and blind spam, not to mention the damage chilling wind does) (Sometimes I like shark but it likes to fear mobs through the terrain/walls.)

Oh weapon and armor wise..
I have a Berserker’s set and some extra stuff like Knight’s and some condition damage. I’ve yet to find a look I’m happy with yet so I have no rune set. Once I am happy, I will most likely use the Mad King Rune’s because of its synergy with Entangle.
-For my weapons I have Sigil of Air on pretty much everything.

I think that covers it
This probably isn’t a particularly new build but new players pop up every day and if I help even one player then it was worth making this post.

PVE: Longbow or Shortbow?

I’m using both Longbow and Shortbow at the moment,
Multiple target; Volley>Hunter’s Shot>Rapid Fire -then switch to Shortbow
Single target; Hunter’s Shot>Rapid Fire -then switch

Piercing Arrows trait is a must.
I should add I’m not using a condition build.

This would be an awesome feature and although it would make each build feel less unique, it would help to make players feel more situationally diverse, and it would probably make people enjoy their class more.

1) The only downside to this, is people could abuse it, just jump off cliffs to suicide and revive eachother.

I don’t know if the high-end machines would get much use out of this, but I know the low end ones would.

World vs World is a really fun side of Guild Wars 2. However, a lot of the mid-low range computers struggle in the thick of things without some setting adjustments.

So I suggest either an option to save Custom setting presets or some kind of WvW button. When ticked/checked the graphics settings change to settings design for WvW specific performance.

Low Shader Grass, Medium Shader No Grass

So basically, whenever I play with Medium Shaders, there is no grass and foliage in the world.

As much as I don’t mind playing in Low Shaders, I would prefer to be able to have my grass and play at Medium Shaders. It took me a while to realize the issue even existed as I was playing at low initially, then switched to medium in a city one day, about 10 levels later I started to feel like the world lacked some foliage, then I began to play with settings and saw it.

All my drivers are up to date, and I’ve tried many different graphics settings in game to see if anything changed but had no luck.

System Specs;
Windows XP
Dual Core CPU E5200 @ 2.5ghz
3.25GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4800

I’ve made a screenshot showing the difference between Low and Medium, it’s quite noticeable lol

Currently my only options are to be permanently ill-content with my choice or delete and remake my characters and spend months leveling up again. Both are very aggravating options.

But I would be completely happy sacrificing everything I got and playing the story from the start all over again if I got change those starting options.

As much as I empathize your desire to change the past, I cannot read the last part as anything other than; ‘You are happy to start again with a new character’ ?

Leveling doesn’t take as long as you would think once you’ve done it once, it can be quite fun and fresh if there are any zones you haven’t been to before, especially if you transmute your new character into some nice high end looks.

Firstly, I love Guild Wars 2 even with its bugs, the team at ArenaNet have done a great job.
Now, I’m not normally one for making suggestions, and you may have already thought about this… But I’ll throw it out there anyway

[Lore Enriched Items]
I feel like a lot of the weapons/items in game at the moment could do with a little story. Even a few words like “This sword was used by -character name- in the battle of -name-, he took down many foes before defeat.” written in the tool tip box would help give some depth.
For legendary weapons, perhaps the final stage of forging could be done at somewhere more immersive than the middle of town. Perhaps deep underground or high atop a mountain at an Ancient Forge of the Old Gods. Then in the tool tip a passage could be noted in relation to it.

[Side Stories]
Almost every player enjoyed the Personal Story aspect of the game, and even though the Dungeons and Events have some story to them. I think what would be nice is to have some end game Side Stories, they could open up once you reach lvl80 and be reasonably hidden through-out Tyria perhaps, always ending with a semi-unique weapon or armor skin.

These of course would not be race specific, and each story could be done in any order.
Perhaps one or two stories could in fact be Order/Faction unique. I felt a little detached from my Order when the Pact story arc came into play and I think this would help people remember who they are as a player.

Story length could vary, it wouldn’t have to be long, just something to keep the lore moving and also help the community come together more as they find these stories through-out Tyria and spread the word. You could save money by making the voice acting occur outside of cinematic’s to avoid rehiring the player actors as I know that isn’t cheap.

Semi-unique Rewards
I know the ArenaNet team is very busy working on content and trying to rid the world of bugs. This is why I have said semi-unique instead of completely new. It makes quite a different to players to have something as simple as an alternate color version of a weapon or that same weapon you’ve seen before except now with a new Pommel design. Some cloth hanging down at the grip. That same pair of gloves except now one side is a different already existing glove model. Shoulder armor combinations. An eye-patch, a feather in your hair. Even the simplest things can make something feel special.

That Signet of the Hunt suggestion sounds really useful, 3 seconds isn’t game-breaking and still not going to turn us into thief wannabees, we can disperse into leaves!

I also agree with the Signet’s effect being for the Player by default, and Trait’ing to effect the pet.

They tried not to give more than two classes each weapon option as a way of balancing weapon choices.
With the exception of Dagger, Greatsword, Sword, Staff, Pistol and okay that can’t be the reason. I don’t know.

Saving Pet Names

One thing you can do at the moment ; Is select the pets in the water slots, name them there- so whenever you switch your pets to something else situationally, the name will always be remembered due to the fact that it is sitting in the water slots.

In saying that, we shouldn’t need to do this. I would very much like this fixed.

In terms of pets;
The River Drake’s ‘Lightning Breath’ is still very strong for AOE required situations, not to mention Drake’s do an AOE auto-attack.
