I have no idea what we are expected to do better here. Almost everyone I see with Dungeon Master had completed this path when you could hit her when she was stealthed.
Just gonna say that while i dont have my dungeon master yet i have finished simin after the nerf to the stealth trick so it can be done.
So today we were doing CoF and our instance owner was a jerk and left after we killed boss but before we got the reward.
How do i report this effectively or do i just put in a simple report log for scamming?
From just skim reading these forums its clear there is a fair amount of players from Maguuma that dont want to move up and are wishing to get kicked out of the server.
So how did Maguuma become such a popular server and recieve these unwanted transfers?
While i wouldnt mind having the /rank emote back i think when the new w3 ranks come out it shouldnt be too much of an issue.
For now though if u want /rank u can always use your old finishers in w3
Hey guys.
Currently i am using a Razer Lachesis mouse that has 2 buttons on the top and 4 on the side. For some reason the buttons on the side don’t seem to work but the buttons on the top do.
For example i have bound one of the top keys to “0” on my Mouse’s configuration program. Then i proceed in game to bind the “0” key as my elite skill. So when i press the top key it activates my elite.
The strange thing here is that the buttons on the side don’t seem to be registered during general play but it is registered in the chat box. For example i have bound one of my side keys to “2” and then rebound the “2” key in game to weapon skill 2. When in combat the skill is not picked up at all and does’nt work. The strange part is that it works in my chat box. So if i whisper my friend and press that side button the “2” number indeed does come out.
I am sure that my drivers are up to date and was wondering if anyone knew why this is the case.

Anet please give us a way to get back into the fractal after DCing. Your dungeons have a mechanic that allows us to get back in and it was perfect. Why did this change?
Sometimes it feels like you guys take five steps in the right direction and then suddenly forget your destination O.o
New patch was definately going in the right direction but more could be added.
For FoTM could it be possible to allow us to buy the vials/globs/shards using the basic fractal relics?
I do fractals nearly every day and ive only gotten one vial thus far and im definitely getting to the point where i will need to infuse my items to get the extra agony resist out of them. Maybe another suggestion could be to allow us to salvage some of our unused ascended rings to make them drop the materials?

kk yeah fair enough about mesmer maybe but the point was that Five warriors was not an optimal team build at all.
Also fair point about the 4-1 spark trick although i was more refering to the rest of the forum posters saying the heal is bugged or w/e about the stealth. ( i admit i didnt make that clear).
Arah 4 cleared screenshots to show it can be done and not impossible as most people seem to think and to show that ive done it so im not just making this stuff up.

Did you read the rest of what he said? A five warrior team is most certainly suboptimal. Even one mesmer like he stated with time warp would increase dps over what one warrior could ever grant us and infact we failed the dps speed race and just had to do it the conventional method.
Dwayna is for sure harder now then it was before the patch but it can be done. Just have like two people run sparks in. One runner gets top half the second runner gets the bottom half of sparks. Make sure the people running sparks have roughly similar armor levels otherwise the sparks break aggro occasionally and it does make it a lot harder.
While Dwayna is definately hard it certainly is not bugged or impossible like some of the forum users here state. I do admit though it is a headache sometimes to pull the sparks. One thing that could be fixed is to make it so that the sparks use melee dmg instead so they follow you better and dont stop centimeters out from a rune to shoot u with a lightning bolt. Maybe making the hit box for the runes could fix some headaches too.

This week has made it obvious, we simply do not have the population necessary to compete at this tier.
Yet during last week’s match up against the same teams we were able to get second place? We certainly do have the population to play this tier but i imagine a lot of our server stopped playing this round due to the beating we took two days ago.
All the servers have pretty close numbers to the point where it is nowhere near as much of a problem as it has been in other past matchups. What is obvious is we do not have the strategy to compete at this tier.
Seriously though we should stop making bad excuses like 2v1 and start looking at what we can improve on. I know it’s probably just a minority of the server but everytime i see an additional person using the 2v1 excuse it makes me start to doubt how long they are going to be a minority for.
Please i’m on FA and its extremely disappointing to hear pointless excuses like “OMG 2v1 unfair QQ.” All it does is blame the other servers when in my opinion we as a server still have a lot of improvement to go in strategy.
In my honest opinion i don’t believe our server understands that its a 1v1v1. In all of our previous matchups that we have won we’ve been able to win with landslide victories where it is evidently clear our server simply had more players then the other servers. As others have stated in this thread FA is extremely offensive. In our previous matchups this overwhelming brute force tactic worked because we had such huge advantages over our other opponents but this is one of those few matchups where our opponents have extrememly similar numbers and at the moment we are failing to understand that the old overwhelming zombie zerg just does’nt work anymore. If FA is to have any chance we need to look beyond mindless zerging and just capping everything on the field.
Take for example on TC borderlands last night where we took the first tower out of our spawn. We proceeded to take the surrounding two camps as usual but instead of moving for the keep we elict instead to attack the Yak’s tower on the otherside. If we think about it TC had more points then Yaks so we should have gone for the tower. TC was by far the stronger server on that map and had both keeps. If we went for the keep on our side then TC would have had to deal with both FA and Yaks and divide their forces. Instead we attack yaks which honestly serves no point accept to incur the wrath of Yak’s as well.
Let’s imagine that we do take the tower on YB side as well. Then our forces would be stretched on that map and we would need to defend both against a vengeful YB attacking their own tower back as well as a counterattack from the TC forces in their own garrison. If there is any merit to the 2v1 argument this would be where a huge amount of it stems from. We more then likely have the blame for causing a scenario like this which unfortunately for us occurs more often than not.
Frankly I feel that ever since we had those new guilds transfer our server has adopted some elitist nature which only serves to be detrimental to us (i do not blame the new guilds for this). Making excuses such as “OMG 2v1 Unfair” only serves to direct the blame towards others and not to ourselves which i have stated is where the fault truly lies. I have not seen nearly as much YB or TC players displaying this attitude as i have seen FA players which is extremely saddening.
FA has some fine players and commanders out there we just need to refine our tactics and adapt to new situations. Even if we lose this matchup i hope that we can at least learn from it and come back stronger. Otherwise props up to YB and TC for bringing a great fight and probably by far the most fun matchup in our WvWvW history so far.
TLDR:
We need to start thinking about the consequences and reasons for attacking areas instead of mindless zerg rushing everything if we are to improve as a server.

Yeah fair point about shadow refuge although my point there is more aimed at its uses in PvE. Ill also admit that the perma stealth problem is prob more an issue on the culling which occurs over the duration of the Revealed status and it will probably be easier to make the arguement that “stealth duration is too long” perhaps after culling is fixed fully so i acknowledge that i may be faulted on saying that.
I think one of the bigger problem with thieves is simply stealth itself. Stealth gives thieves the ability to disengage fights extremely easily and generally the ability to avoid a lot of damage and make it frustrating for anyone to try hit them. Not being hit in the first place > traits/skills/armor that deal with being hit.
I understand it is one of the thieves main game mechanics but maybe one small change that could be implemented is that damage still shows if you hit someone in stealth. This would make landing aoe a lot easier and also gives the player some idea as to where the thief is so they can react better ie use cyclone axe on war and see dmg behind you and you know the thief is going for a backstab so you can dodge or aoe an area and see dmg and you will know the thief is going in that general direction. Im not even advocating the popular idea of breaking stealth on dmg as i believe that would make stealth pointless but just seeing the dmg would give a better idea on how the thief is moving while also still allowing them their invisibility so some smart movement will still be able to allow them to disengage fights safely.
For wvwvw the stealth problem is magnified by culling issues but anet is already looking into this. Otherwise atm thieves are able to just perma stealth (or maintain for a very long time) and keep a camp from being taken by contesting it. I wonder why the spvp formula wasnt brought in as thieves aernt able to contest point capture in spvp and i believe the same should be brought over. Naturally id like that to apply to other similar skills eg elixer s which also contests capture in wvwvw but not in spvp.
In pve there isnt too much problem with thieves as they are squishy enough that it shows during dungeons. One skill that does come to mind is shadow refuge which is able to keep a user and their party in stealth for a very long time and thus allow us to run past a significant amount of mobs in the dungeon. I remember having thieves during the dredge fractal and during the bomb portion of the fractal all we did was have two perma stealth thieves run the bombs and pretty much finished it without aggroing any of the mobs at all.
The duration of stealth is also a problem. Thieves are able to reach excessively long amounts of time in stealth with popular combos like sitting in shadow refuge, heartseeker+dark field, CnD to name a few. Perhaps making a cap on the time allowed in stealth or increasing the revealed duration means that thieves actually need to use the stealth tactically at the right times instead of using it without impunity and fear of any retaliation.
I do believe the bigger complaints about thieves being overpowered is that there are near zero ways atm to detect thieves in stealth. No other class mechanic seems to give such near absolute defense ie it is still possible to detect the real mesmer in the clones is you just look carefully on how he moves (rolls, sidesteps etc). Otherwise i dont even have that much issue on thief damage. Some of the skills could be toned down a slight bit like backstab+mug combo but overall most can be negated by a stun break, blocks or good positioning and dodging.

Good fight tonight as well. Probably going to be the best w3 matchup for a long time where all servers have reasonably close numbers. Any bets on what the final margin between scores will be at the end of matchup?
For sure. I have a few gold bet down that the quaggan are infact the servants of Bubbles. More attention needs to be brought to this threat.

Pretty kitten good matchup so far. Might be the first time in FA W3 history that the match hasnt been decided in the 1st day yet and where every team is still reasonably in range of each other. Props up to TC and Yaks for bringing the fight.
I want to reiterate what others have said about FA in that i do agree that one of our major weaknesses is we are indeed sometimes too aggressive and don’t sit down to defend when its necessary. Another thing that could be constantly improved upon is more liberal use of dropping siege. We have a lot of people dropping siege and im not saying we dont drop any but it is always something that can be improved.
Id also like to friendly call on GODS whether they have any commanders that actually command. From a “grunt’s” perspective i never actually see any of your commanders actually saying anything in chat and most of the time only see karma trains running around your commanders. Not sure if you fellas have your own thing going on in Guild chat so feel free to correct me. Probably gonna get some backlash for this but like to say its more a curious question then it is me trying to be offensive or anything like that.

Agreed. This is a good example of how dungeons should be designed. Lower levels very easy to pug and has engaging mechanics to the fights. Harder levels are expected to be more challenging.
Im less pissed off at anet now for messing up the PvP balancing now.

Thats what u dont seem to understand is that the dungeon is perfectly able to be done with a PuG. I admit that some PuGs are terrible and i understand ur anguish but its perfectly possible to do it with non full exotic armor for sure.
Player Brains > Armor Stats for these dungeons honestly. Again it is less that the dungeon is poorly designed but more that your pug that you picked up was probably just not on their game to be polite.
Lol complain more. I just got through lvl 2 fractals with a pug that openly admitted no exotics. More of a player competency thing then bad dungeon design.
Very engaging mechanics and very fun dungeon to run. Novelty may wear off over time like anything does but i had excellent fun working out how to beat all the bosses. Locales were awesome and dungeon was challenging and hard but it was done the right way. Otherwise best dungeon/raid/w.e equivalent in other mmos ive played in any mmo for a while now.
Im willing to forgive anet on their subpar effort in balancing PvP out as this dungeon would have taken a lot of time to make and it was worth it.
The d/d ele that daphoenix plays is strong but far from hacking at all he just plays it well. The d/d ele while strong actually takes a lot more work to play as opposed to faceroll thieves.
Unfortunately as shown in this thread is the natural tendancy for people to take the easy route. Complaining about hacking after all is a lot easier then thinking up counters or trying to learn another class.
It is actually very fun to fight in the jump puzzle. I dont see why people are upset about it being camped as it is located in a pvp zone?
If you are having trouble being crowd controlled in the jumping puzzle take stability and fight back but then again if you were willing to do that i guess you wouldn’t be a carebear and be complaining about pvp in a pvp zone.
While wvwvw doesnt make you crazy money neither should you really be losing a lot to it unless you really are just dying to randoms like crazy. In terms of a guardian ranged you have a nice non-projectile imobilize which is fantastic for snaring down peeps who over extend.
Other then repair costs you dont need to pay much to do wvwvw. Even with siege there is the option to either buy it just using badges or obviously the jumping puzzle so it shouldnt be breaking the bank in anyway at all.
For a while actually it was pretty tight in terms of caps. Maguuma and Dragonbrand are stubborn and props up for them for fighting for sure. Unfortunately the servers will prob never be “equal” in populations even after server transfers stop as there will always be quite a large amount of players who stop playing after the first day after they see we are losing etc etc.
On the other hand just 5 manned an empty Keep half expecting a hotdrop any second.
Shoutouts to the Guardian and Engi who joined us and the ele who kindly dropped flame rams for us.
Hardest classes for sure would definately have to be Elementalist and Engineer.
This is simply because they have so many skills available to them and so many different ways to combo. Also because you have so many skills available to use it gives you multiple ways to deal with different situations. This also requires you to know how other classes play to be able to deal with them effectively. Sure knowing what other classes can do is going to be helpful on all classes but it always seemed more helpful on an ele and engi again simply because you have way more ways of dealing with situations.
Having said that they require you to press a lot more buttons to be effective as opposed to a thief who can just ram heartseeker and still do a reasonable amount of damage.
Id like to add that while my fellows were defending the FA garrison i decided to randomly get on a trebuchet and randomly take ONE shot at the Tower at Dawn’s just to test the range on the trebuchet.
Lo and behold the wall goes down from one single shot and me and like five other guys are able to cap it without any resistance.
FA have just taken the home borderland back but i assume the US TZ is starting to wake up about now should be another good morning of WvWvW.

GW1 was an amazing game that had depth and competitiveness to it. The raging on vent and people screaming like crazy only made it better.
I think though it would be unfair to compare GW1 to GW2 at the moment though simply because GW2 has only been out for like a month and a half whereas GW1 has been out for ages albeit GW1 did release with a more “complete” package.
