This is confusing me aswell. what are you supposed to play in PvP to get to rank 20 of you’re not allowed to play unranked arenas??
You can play the hotjoin dedicated servers (the ones named “Server 081” etc, just not custom-made hotjoin servers) and I guess Ranked matches (unless there is a universal rank requirement for those – I don’t play much PvP so I could very well be wrong).
I see what you’re saying, but I don’t think it makes sense to restrict unranked arenas and not ranked, when the ranked matches are meant for more experienced players. Maybe there’s been a typo on their post or something. Also why are they not mentioning the pvp restrictions on the account comparison page? >_<

The game is 3 years old. Bundling the base game with the expac is common practice. The game itself has been on sale in the past for next to nothing anyways.
Agreed, people are overreacting like crazy. It’s not a big deal.
I’d love to see a more magical suspended-in-air animation for the uppercut, like the aerial lockdown in aion. 00:08 in this video:

That looks seriously badkitten
Where can I see the staff thief poi? I missed it and now there’s a Guardian on the stream …
I’ll take it as that was their way of nerfing mesmer in this patch, awesome.
I think it’s because they’re all different and not designed for humans and then stretched for the other races. I agree 1k is too much though.
This makes me soo happy! I’ve always enjoyed fantasy and magic much more than firearms, and the staff thief is just perfect. Can’t wait to try it out
You are mixing up the difference between gold reward and materials rewards.
The chest train contributes to the item side of thing, not the gold side, so it can’t ever be used to add money into the game. The fact that this course of action is profitable is only due to the fact that players would rather buy items at high prices then participate in the activity. The “value” of the chest train is proportional to the number of people who run it vs the number of people who need the things it drops.
If they nerfed the train you may find yourself paying 4s for a silk scrap and 1g for T6 mats.
I see this problem. But I only wish for the material awards to be added to dungeons instead of SW, because doing dungeons and fractals is a lot more fun. A good way to do this would be to be to nerf SW and instead let people buy raw materials bags with the dungeon tokens and fractal relics.
So, force people to your way and nothing else? What if the player doesn’t like dungeons or fractals? Too bad for them eh?
I just can’t see how running from chest to chest mindlessly is any fun to anyone. I forgot to say that I only want the chest trains to be nerfed not the events in the SW, which could still be rewarding, and perhaps you could buy material bags with the SW crests as well, just not to the same extent.

I find it very strange that the fastest way to get gold in GW2 is to robotically run from one chest to another in the Silverwastes, while challenging content like a scale 50 fractal yields almost nothing. I hope that something changes with the release of HoT that make dungeons and actual gameplay rewarding instead of SW train and login rewards. Does anyone agree with this?

I want a pitch black sword/dagger/greatsword, the design could be anything. I’ve yet to find ONE black weapon in gw2 except twilight and that shadowy shield, which are not entirely black anyways. I’m tired of matching my armor to my weapons, and not vice versa. White/black weapons are needed since you cant change the color of them.
Nice design… but really not a fan of how ANet insists on making skirts super flared out at the hips like tents / balloons / bells.
I’d say that’s because it would clip horribly with the running animation if skirts/dresses where tighter and straighter below the hips.
I love the asura ones and especially the norm male o.o This outfit might make me roll one. I seriously hope the sylvari ones arent done.
I wouldn’t mind a way to inspect other characters either, it would be nice to not have to shift+click all my gear upon joining a dungeon pug. It could bring some problem to those who’re not running meta builds though.
You can already see how much AP other characters have if you’re in their party or in the same Guild
just hover over their name.
I feel like skills activates too slow, cost too much energy, deals unimpressive damage, heals for almost nothing and grants no protection. They need to boost Revs on all levels for them to be a match against other professions. Otherwise I love the general mechanic and the skill animations/legends.
The current system where the first team to get to 500 points/has most points at 15 minutes wins has a big flaw in my opinion. 75% of the time, the team who has the highest score ~4 minutes into the game wins in the end, which means you have to spend a lot of time knowing you’re going to lose, wishing you could just leave and start over.
I’m not saying they should scrap the old system, but that they should create a few new maps with a different mechanic.
I’d love to see a simple, GW1-type of death match, where the first team that manages to kill the opposite team wins. I realise this would probably shorten battles drastically, but I also think it would create more defensive builds since staying alive would be a lot more important.
Fooook no. I’ve bought at least 80 keys and gotten nothing but useless boosters and a few black lion scraps. Never buying them again. A tip to any new player is to simply swap gems into gold. It’s a much better investment.
I use concealed defeat in PvP. While I agree with the part of not needing a giant smoke screen in front of my downed character, the 20% CD reduce on deceptions is pretty neat. I use Hide in Shadows (24s cooldown now) as my heal, which is my condi-clear instead of Shadow’s Embrace.
I tried venomshare after the patch, and while it was great at dealing dmg against world bosses and end-dungeon bosses, it wasnt very good at dealing with trash mobs. One major drawback was the very low dmg against objects (such as the oil above gates in ascalon fractal), since you can’t apply your conditions to them. I changed back to berserker eventually, but I’d say the venoms are more “fun” to play in general.
I love the changes, even though I mostly play thief which was not the class that got buffed the most. Changes are always exciting and the game feels refreshed.
Yeah, because heterosexuals are the totally a suppressed group in our society. This would be the same thing as creating a guild that was pro-white. It’s disgusting.
I pieced together a very similar version to this for sPvP, and it works really good! Those conditions deal insane damage.
It might not be good in PvE but in PvP it rocks. I never used p/p before the patch but I do now, simply because it lets me unload my entire stack of venoms onto the target in a matter of seconds, and with the buff to conditions this does insane damage. I only use the damage dealing venoms (skale, spider and basilisk as elite). This stack ticks the enemy down so fast they often die right away.
I can 1v1 any class except necro and sometimes guardian. I was a real crappy thief before to be honest but now I win almost every game!
I agree to 100%, never had this much fun in PVP
In sPvP I’m playing P/D with maximum condition damage and some toughness. Using venoms (spider, skale, basilisk) with venomous aura and making sure to apply them to allies aswell. It’s literally the best thief build I’ve ever used. I usually win about 50% of matches, now im up at 70-80%, at least during the last 13 games.

PvP is entertaining because there’s a 50% chance of winning. If there’s 10 players and only one winner the chance is lowered to 10%. It will feel like you’re losing again and again which will make people quit and no one would enjoy it except for the very few 1337 haxxorz players that are experienced enough.
This would be really great, along with a “consume all luck” button and “salvage all salvagable non-rare and non-exotic items” button!
In PvE, everything is easier if you know the bosses animations so that you can dodge when there’s a big attack coming. I always go D/D and Shortbow since it’s the best damage dealing combo. In general, while the boss is above 50% health, I use cloak and dagger to stealth → get behind target → backstab. This will give you the “revealed” effect, which gives you +200 power with the trait “revealed training”. Once boss drops below 50% health, just spam heartseeker.
If there’s a boss that deals too much unpredictable damage then you can put 3 traitpoints into acrobatics for “Feline Grace”, which gives back endurance when you dodge. This way you can dodge a lot more often, and with the usage of death blossom you’ll be almost invincible.
I agree on this, it’s extremely stupid. Another similar restriction is the “you’ve sent too many mails” warning that pop up after ~3 mails … why are they not doing anything about this
I was doing fractals and died right by the water in the Aetherblade fractal. When I got back there was a twin of my character standing there! It was an exact copy except that it wasnt wearing any backpiece or weapons. I couldnt target it but when I hovered over it it lighted up. Not an important bug really, but weird nonetheless.
My printscreen button isn’t working for some reason so bad quality photos.
(edited by Revolutionen.5693)
I totally agree with you, I love the design but the color doesn’t match my armor at all
but this is a problem with all backpieces and weapons tbh
I’m quite new to the game and theif is the only class I play atm. It works in pve (mostly), in pvp though I have a LOT of trouble. I survive if i spam evades, but then it’s hard to deal damage. I think we need some sort of buff that allows you to land at least 2 hits before you have to teleport/dodge out of combat.
I think a buff to haste would be good, as it allows you to attack extremely fast but the cool down is too long and it should remove only half of your endurance

I was waiting for a world boss and someone random pm’d me, I tried to answer but when I pressed enter to send, nothing happened. I didn’t get a message that says this person is offline and I know that he/she hasn’t blocked me since I’ve never met them before. Can I somehow fix this? It’s happened 2 times now when random ppl whispered me.
As a gay man, I’m always humored by how many heterosexuals are so offended for me. I’ve had a lifetime of abuse and oppression. I can stand someone saying “gay.”
And in delicious irony, I once had someone use “the f word” (rhyming with maggot) to insult me. I responded that I was, in fact, one. I was banned from the game for a short period for hate speech. It was decided that I could not defend myself by devaluing the insult because the insult itself is deemed wrong by my heterosexual cultural superiors. Goodness forbid I take the insult and morph it into something to the point it loses its power. You know, like certain other words?
In speaking only for me, I don’t need your safe space. I don’t need to be protected from a word or words because you think they offend me. Take your benevolent sexism, racism, and homophobia somewhere else to swoop in and play the hero for someone else.
I’ve no need for your heroics. I do not need your projection onto me. You’re the one offended and made uncomfortable. I am not. You are using me, my experiences of oppression, and my population of people to justify your offense and your censoring response.
If needed, I can save myself, thanks.
I’m also gay and I don’t personally get very offended when someone says “that’s so gay” to emphasise something as lame/girly/weak because we’re so used to it, and I know that people keep saying it because everyone else does. It’s a term that’s become very casual.
When you think about it though, it’s actually quite a distasteful thing to say since you’re permitting the preconceptions of an oppressed group and worsening the situation. It should not be okay, and even if you’re not personally offended there are people that might be. There are definitely other terms you could use that does not insult anyone.
You can’t report anyone for discussing religion, politics or whatever as long as it’s not truly offensive, and them believing in god is not breaking any rules, just block them.
I have noticed quite a lot of offensive conversation going on before world boss fights, and I often (daily) see people calling things that they think are lame “gay”, which most people wouldn’t care about, but as a gay person it’s quite annoying. I’m not sure if that’s even something Anet would care about though since they’d have to ban half the community lol
Hello!
So I have two rather nooby questions. I live in EU and I’ve been playing on a NA server for a while. I’ve had a lot of issues with random dc’s and bad lag sometimes, is it likely that I’d notice any difference if I switched to EU server or would it still be basically the same?
Second question: I just bought a new computer that should be able to handle better graphics than my last one (I basically used the lowest graphics possible), but my internet is pretty bad, and I’m afraid that higher graphics mean I’ll have do download more data which makes the game slower?
thx in advance

I love this game too!! I’ve recently reached lvl 80 for the first time and I don’t find it boring yet, I’m doing lots of dungeons and working on getting ascended armor at the moment. What I like the most is how easy it is to get into groups and how beautiful the game is! :)
