Season one was a boring failure
I am having a blast. I think 4 leagues (Diamond, Gold, Silver, Bronze) and a shorter season would have created more competition, but overall I think people have enjoyed the league system. Naturally there is room for improvement next season as we have all discussed, and you wont please everyone. However overall I think season one was a success.
I think it was a failure too and I even suggested they do 4 because it was more logical. However, the other issue was the free/low cost xfers. That weakened some servers and strengthened others so much that part of that system would have failed too. They did all they could to make it go bad, on purpose in my opinion. It still did better than their crappy implementation of what they call sPvP, which is why it looks successful, however, comparing Season 1 to its potential, this was in no way a success.
Best way to do something about it… http://us.ncsoft.com/en/jobs/

Says the guy who claims 30 and has 50 around him, yeah keep talking big, I will see you in Silver league , I will be there when HoD loses all its fair weathers, outnumbering smaller servers isn’t skill, when the tables flip in the higher tiers, I will trasnfer to the winning servers and talk about organization and skill
I never said we’re better, I said stop talkin’ smack then backing down. Also never said HoD was better, you’re making all that up in your own head. All i’m saying is, if you’re gonna whisper me on reset night, talk a lot of garbage, then turn down any attempt to back it up. You’re gonna be laughed at.
I think what Bllade is trying to say is that he would enjoy some positive GvG, 10v10, 5v5, 1v1… ANYTHING accept more talking on the forums and then refusing to fight. Please, correct me if I am wrong. Dont forget Thursday night is Fight Club. So if you want to come fight with even numbers in an even playing field instead of posting on forums you know where to go.
You guys should just make a video… or invite us to document and ensure fair fights. There is no cheese. Play your profession as well as you can however you like.
Idk you, but I will admit there are cheese builds , my philosophy is no matter how cheese or broken a build can be there is always a counter, if there is no counter then that build is defined as Op: Overpowered, therefore thats when i can submit a complain, for example Power cond necros are a mesmers hardest matchup, but after a few duels Ive learned to fight em, only issue is so far it comes down to who gets who with an opener, as for P/D or S/D thieves i have learned to fight as well, you have a point, at times it is about learning your class first, I have 1,7k hours on my mesmer and I am still not done learning it through, I might go into shatter next
Fair enough. Your duels sound like fun to watch. I’m just trying to come to a compromise that would make everyone happy.
Oh. Interesting you kept that up while we were taking your Garrison.
Our week long 400+ ppt frees up our schedules for fun minigames and bag farming.

sorry but deth doesnt GvG….. or come to fight club
Really? Why? I thought that they had an organized 15 man group… maybe I read this wrong:
err you mean the guys who 15 v 40+ your blobs, yeah… On another note I find it funnier you call a 20 man at max guild a zerg compared to your organized tactical groups of 40+… No QQ from [Deth] I am a roamer so dw most of the time I bash your faces in without a blob. That is until 4 more come to gank me and jump around and emote like some accomplishment was made :P

If current trends continue this looks like it will be Season One Bronze League at wrap up. Congratulations to all the winners, I think.
1st Henge of Denravi
2nd Sorrow’s Furnace
3nd Darkhaven
4th Gate of Madness
5th Ferguson’s Crossing
6th Anvil Rock
7th Kaineng
8th Devona’s Rest
9th Eredon TerraceSecond place will be decided next week (11/29 – 12/6) with Darkhaven facing off against Sorrows Furnace while Eredon Terrace gets a front row seat. It will be a lot of fun to watch it unfold. Last time these two servers faced off (Season 1, Week 1) SF won by only 40k points ( http://mos.millenium.org/na/wvw_seasons/index/115 ). Who has learned more this season? How does each server prepare to best the other? I, for one, wish [MU] was going to get in on that action next week.
I am so excited. Darkhaven has been preparing and organizing. Darkhaven is currently the underdog as everyone realizes, but don’t count us out yet! I also don’t think we’ve faced ET since the beginning of the season, so it will be good to see them again.
SF will certainly come out swinging with Cosa being the biggest punch. I look forward to seeing how DH brawls against the punches when the bragging rights of second place are on the line.
HoD > Blackgate. You guys have hella coordination. Really enjoying my stay!
Yet they tanked silver league and have the numbers to qeue all maps and on top of that even a tier 1 transfer we got at Deth said this : “Wtf I haven’t seen these numbers since tier 1, that is a tier 1 blob…”
I look forward to fight night and GvG’s so that I can stop hearing about how a server queues 4 maps for an hour on reset night.
Hey HoD, doesn’t FC’s BL look at little too blue. I think they are sad that no one wants to play with them.
Well now that you mention it… It does look a little blue to me. Perhaps we had better paint it a lovely HoD green. In all seriousness last night [MU] ran in GoM pretty much all night. Take it as a complement because we flock to a good fight.
Sorry, but you guys just weren’t on the list at club North Camp during Primetime yesterday.
Oh… you must be talking about the WvW minigame we play called “Zombies”. We wipe a servers blob at north camp repeatedly and intentionally don’t cap the camp. We regroup just north of the cap circle and let the server regroup and build siege on steps. Each time we wipe you all the way back to the portal at the top of the steps we have finished the level. Yesterday we got to level 8… It was the boss level. We didn’t beat the boss level, but it was fun. I think we had a couple players recording the minigame. If so we will post the Zombies video when it’s done.

Hey SF! This is a non troll post or not thumping our chests, but please come take your garrison from us =(
/me tries to decide if the seated chap front and center is the thief he fought/chatted earlier
Probably is… Mushroom Head MU Thief. AKA Backstabbed
General consensus among most of SF.com’s users is "Eh, no big deal.
Ahh much like their approach to WvW.
Both sites have been in existence since BWE1. And the SF.com site has been in heavy usage since January. There is absolutely no way this could have been some engineered plan for HoD to gain some sort of advantage. I highly doubt the owner’s crystal ball is THAT good.
As for the rest, I do not eat bait.
Ahh so they own both sites? HoDs and SFs?
Yes. And before anyone from HoD freaks out, he never discusses HoD on our site. Just site admin issues.

Not even gonna bother reading most of this thread, but thought I’d jump in and leave a note for once!
So, my small team has been practicing a lot more recently and tonight the 6 of us took Devona’s Rest Keep in EBG! Well, to be fair, there were 2 defenders until the last minute and it’s not exactly a big thing, but….
We broke in, killed a few DR defenders who showed up, killed the Keep Lord and jumped in the circle just as a group of DR showed up (Probably about 4-6? Heat of the moment, couldn’t count). We managed to pull of the capture AT THE SAME TIME DR banner’d their Lord and we got to witness to Keep Lords duking it out xD
(Edit: sorry for the huge resolution…)
Those keep lords…

There are quite a few proposed solutions out there. I really hope that ArenaNet creates a platform for discussion similar to the December skill balance preview.
There was quite a bit of productive dialogue and I think that the community is getting a better product as a result of it.
Seriously! This is one of the best cinematics that I have ever seen. I am primarily a WvW player and typically only play fractals for the gear/reward. However, this amazing cinematic trailer has me excited for the update.
Cheers!
Nice fight [Star]. You guys really drop the hammer! Made me think of this:
In this thread HoD and SF toast each other’s martial prowess whilst stepping over the bodies of the DR militia, sifting through the belongings of naive fairweathers, motioning to maps of native Devona lands and squabbling good-naturedly over how they should be divided.

I think GoM had the same feeling last week.
Haha, sad but true. Keep up the good fight DR!
Agreed! Just because you aren’t winning this week doesn’t mean that there isn’t a lot that could be learned from the battles raging in every boarderland. My suggestion is that you don’t become disenchanted with the idea of losing and instead get a group of players together and learn as much as you can from the fights that you get into. Take that knowledge and apply it to future battles.
P.S. I miss the VLK “yo momma” jokes
Your predictions seem reasonable, but nothing is decided yet. I wouldn’t outright say that 2nd and 3rd are decided. I can remember great fights with FC, DH, and GoM at different times. It will be a challenge for any of those servers to overthrow SF for 2nd, but it is possible. In my eyes 3rd place is still a toss up of who wants it the most. Also, to say that the other rankings don’t matter isn’t really fair. SF, DH, FC, and GoM have already been discussed here, but KN, DR, ET, and AR still have things to fight for. First, nobody wants to be dead last. Second, ANet hasn’t specifically said what the reward chest will hold. I personally hope that it has good loot for everyone who participated enough to get the key. Finally, I think that there are going to battles to enjoy and tactics to learn as Season One comes to an end. Everybody should be able to enjoy that.
Sorry, but I’m grumpy about this season as the only thing I’ve got from it so far was a major headache… I just want it to end already and hope things get better after it.
I’m sorry that you haven’t had an ideal experience. Hopefully you have had some fun along with the headache. Change doesn’t happen overnight, and from what I hear many of the guilds in gold/upper silver are becoming disenchanted with the long queue’s and massive blobs. Hopefully those players recognize that having no (very short) queues and great fights is what bronze is all about.
Bronze league has proven to be a blast. Second and third place are still up for grabs to whoever wants it the most. SF has noticeably improved as a server over the last two weeks. DH, FC, GoM… if you have your eyes on taking second place from SF be prepared for a good fight. I would suggest that all servers bring their A game in any fight against any server regardless of how dire the situation appears. You might get wiped, but try to figure out why the clash didn’t go your way. Good communication, proper builds, effective scouting, roamers flipping camps/killing yaks, and maintaining proper priorities in the micro level (battles) as well as the macro level (map control) are what win your server victories over the coarse of a week. Keep it up everyone.
2nd and 3rd are solely reserved for SF and DH. We just don’t know who will get what. FC will lose their shot at third next week against HoD (just as GoM).

I think GoM had the same feeling last week.
I had been learning a lot in the bronze league match ups, one thing in particular stand out. All builds have strengths and weakness, if a build is good for roaming, then it will not be as effective in a group fight as a build that is designed specifically for group fights. Its the same the other way round.
A roaming build should beat a group fight build in a 1v1 because a lot of the group fight build’s traits and utilities are not effective when targeting single player and without other players to support and provide support to. However, a 5v5 should be quite even and with 10+, the group fight builds can easily wipe the roaming builds.
Which is interesting when I see posts saying server X’s players have no skills and only know how to hide in a zerg (not talking abt our match up thread but the wvw threads in general). Is it possible that its just a matter of different builds? The group fight guy will naturally want to run to his buddies so that he can be effective and of course, the roamer will not want to engage on that term.
Also is it possible that as we going up the tiers, the ratio of people running group fight builds will go up because big zerg fights are more frequent there, which give the perception that higher tier players have less skill individually?
Perhaps the most interesting thing is that your server will need both. You need roamers/scouts to flip camps, kill yaks, and scout the enemy effectively, but when push comes to shove its going to be the groups that win the lions share of the points for the server.

Dear [StaR]
I know I speak for [VLK] when I say, we are having a lot of fun running into you guys. I haven’t had much play time personally but the few hours of prime time I get has been a blast. Keep it up.
Obligatory: Yo momma so… fourm ban
Speaking for [StaR], the feeling is mutual bro. Good fights so far, and despite the fact that SF is clearly losing this matchup this week, we definitely enjoy the fights against [VLK], [FKB], and [MU]. It’s putting us to the test and we love the challenge.
Right back at you. Hope to see more great battles!
Once again, CoSA great GvG! Once you guys get some more under your belt and keep going at it, you’re going to be unstoppable.
Below is the link to the GvG video, we did have one round before these three but as soon as we started the GvG a person came into our TS and started yelling directions. We are not blaming CoSA for this because we know they are better than that but SF stay classy.
It was CoSA’s first GvG and I think we all had fun.
Sorry your TS got trolled. If I find out who it was, I will do what I can to to make them regret it.
We had a blast too. The majority of MU is new from HoD so it was a pretty new experience for a lot of us. PM us if you want to go again. Otherwise we will see you on the battlefield.
Thanks for the GvG MU. Lots of fun for all of us.
You didn’t invite us?
Message me, I need my fix!
Fight night isn’t too far off.
Nice reset at SF BL
An awesome series of fights that led to some great GvG’s. Thank you for the fun [CoSA].
Time for the fun! See you all inside.
Where is VLK starting off?
Obsidian Sanctum, be ready cause we’re coming out rollin’
This is new, match hasn’t even started yet and there’s already whining.
+1
As per usual… Thursday (11/21/2013) will be the Fightclub….There will be some GvG’s going on an hour prior to fightclub so if you have group that would like to try it out all are welcome! Smaller groups can be accommodated but 10v10/15v15 match-ups are preferred.
GvG’s: 8pm EST (5pm server time)
Fightclub: 9pm EST (6pm server time)
Location: HoD borderland at the southern windmill
Good luck and have fun.

[MU] will hit DR BL because they are going to try and kiss [CoSA] but [CoSA] will try to queue SF BL so it doesn’t get wrecked like last week when the PvE guys tried to hold it.
…
Then, Dx will win it.
You are correct on these two points. Tonight [MU] is going to DR BL because we took SF BL last week (with our [Dx] buddies) and have decided to share the glory with some guilds we are friendly with. Gornok said so in last weeks matchup thread, and we do hope to see [CoSA], [LORD], [StaR], [LH], and any other SF guild there.
Results are already known thanks to bad game design.
We know each other’s coverage now.3 more weeks of this “season” crap – we’ll see if they can fix the game after.
That’s the spirit! … But seriously, I think SF and DR can put up some great fights. I look forward to the next week of battles.

I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point Anet decides to merge all PvE (except maybe Lions Arch) into maps no longer affiliated with specific servers. WvW and Lions Arch (maybe racial starter cities) would remain affiliated with specific servers.
Some merging server shakeup would be interesting to see. I would hope that after the seasons end Anet would create a sliding cost-scale where Anet judges the participation in WvW (rather than the total number on a server). The most populated WvW servers would cost a significant amount to transfer to and the least populated WvW servers would be free.
No merging actually needs to occur to get balanced scoring.
http://youtu.be/qHcO6Xo8eJ8
I am proposing a merge. Universally merge PvE, and finding a way to merge WvW servers based on active WvW playerbase rather than only taking into account the world population. The proposal in the video is interesting too. Thanks for sharing.

As if they care enough to do that… if it happens I’ll xfer to play with you guys and you shall be my Dear Leader of Utmost Commanding Prowess, I promise! But all they care about is money and free doesn’t look good on quatery revenu reports.
PS: 3/4 GWEN
I think its just logical… If you look at the PvE sections of forums youll find people saying that the world feels empty(ish) unless there is a living world story nearby. If you look at the WvW sections of the forums youll find people either complaining about a “4 hour queue” or “My server has a very high population, but no WvW players”.
I love getting into WvW and seeing the same names and faces. It makes HoD feel like home, but I think that the game as a whole would be better if there were more very intense matches like the DHvGOMvFC Bronze League: Round 2 Matchup. A solution where we can achieve both of these outcomes is best.

We didnt spill into anywhere. We had a group of ~20-25 running with us as well as ~2-4 sentries letting us know where SF mobs were.
You’ve been in bronze league enough, I’m gonna do away with this misconception. You’re one of the biggest groups that any WvW guild in this league can field.
For example, if you see any group of 15+ on Gate of Madness, it’s a pick up group. If you see any guild that is 15+, it’s not even PvX, it’s a PvE guild.
From my experience, what you’re saying is untrue. [MU] feilds somewhere between 20 and 25. You will at times find another 5 running with us, but we run without a commander tag whenever possible to keep pugs from following and being rally bots for our foes. We are a tight group that play together as often as possible, and we value group play, build synergy, and communication at the highest level.
This is in sharp contrast to guild groups you will see on a nightly basis where the beliefe is that the number of players = winning side. I won’t name guilds but there are pleanty (on every server) you will see with this mentality that run with 50-60 when they are in WvW.
Barn, I think he’s saying there aren’t any other pure WvW guilds that can field the number of pure WvW players we can. In my experience, the 40+ zergs we’ve been seeing have been 60% guild members (usually CoSA) and 40% remoras, whereas our groups are usually 90% MU and 10% pick-up players. I think the confusing part about his statement is that he is saying that the groups we have come across that were all from one guild and had greater than or equal to our numbers were not pure WvW guilds. It’s not our fault for thinking otherwise. Don’t take offense, I don’t think Styx is claiming we’re winning based on our numbers.
Well stated Red. I guess its also worth pointing out that I am saying that there are guilds that run groups of 60+ when they are out but they are not necessarily out nightly and not WvW exclusive.

Seriously fun night tonight, I was there for a lot of the fights against MU tonight in EB and then when they spilled into HoD BL after we took their Bay. Super intense. Keep it up
Indeed there were some amazing fights last night. However I want to clear something up…
We didnt spill into anywhere. We had a group of ~20-25 running with us as well as ~2-4 sentries letting us know where SF mobs were. We were called to waypoint after almost every single engaugement. We jumped around constantly looking for the fights, and I’ll be honest, there were fights everywhere. SF seemed to show up stronger last night that ever, and all I can say is keep it up. I had a blast.
Let us know when you’re ready. I’m just tired of hearing about numbers and coverage which is why I’m proposing a scheduled, numerically balanced fight. In any case it has been fun playing against SF this week. I can tell you we are looking forward to more glory on the battlefield for the remainder of this week and all of next week.
Hi all
Just wanted to clear up a few things about us, CoSA, and our coverage. CoSA is 3 guilds with different reqs.
1. Red=PvE / PvX / Casual WvW. This is primarily a PvE guild requiring 95%+ rep time. The only exceptions we make to this are if you are doing our servers FARM training event, if you are in TTS and need to be on a different server (guesting) for appropriate event, or if you are an officer in different CoSA and are doing administrative work between the sister guilds. CoSA Red uses VOIP, however, it is preferred, not required.
2. CoSA Blue has an appropriately geared, trained, coordinated and very good zerg busting group, but unfortunately it may not seem like it when going up against us because we are all mixed up if we run larger then 20 people. CoSA Blue has people from other guilds often runing with us many of whom are Blue members so they can switch to rep and use guild chat for communication purposes, consequently, the rep reqs for CoSA Blue are much lower then those of CoSA Red or Green. Blue is dedicated to WvW, and if having people rep other guilds to strengthen the server goes to that end, so be it.
3. CoSA Green is between the 2 above, it is in constant flux and tends to be the starting guild for brand new WvW players.
4. CoSA likes to play together, no matter which branch. We are on 1 VOIP and often have reps in other guilds VOIP for coordination.
5. The reason we stay on 1 map is simple. We have Queues during NA prime time, and we are unable to hop maps preserving our core group. If we can not switch maps and have our core stay together, we will not do so. Note that this was not the case before leagues started because tehre were no ques.
6. Our core group, regardless which branch they come from, are properly geared etc. but our other players may or may not be and when you fight us, this does show up. Although our PVE players are actually working on their gear sets etc. it will be a while until they all catch up at best. This is a long term gain for our server which is currently still “in development”. Once done it will be a different story
So if you were trying to join CoSA and got turned off by rep reqs, then maybe you joined wrong CoSA for wrong purpose ? Should have asked before hand right ?
I was expecting cosa blue to be “appropriately geared, trained, coordinated and very good zerg busting group” not PvX as you said earlier.
Just FYI guys, since someone mentioned we “dropped off” wvw last saturday during later half of the prime time. That is correct.
It had nothing to do with us though, we got smacked with the top-notch a-net’s programming. We were runnign 20-30 people per map and had the official outmanned buff while having 15-45 minute queues on our maps. I am not sure how can any team be outmanned, officially, with the buff and have a 45 min que. This lasted for good 3-4 hours, then it somehow went back to normal but by then it was too late.
So beware, this may happen to you too.
Not sure how it works, other than it is kind of an AoE buff (with a large area). So if there were both servers in the map and the main forces were close to you, then you could probably theoretically get “outmanned”. (even while having enough to queue)
If everyone on all maps had it, then I would say it was some kind of bug.
Outmanned is mapwide for your server (not an AoE buff). It gauges proportional size of each server to the others, however Anet has been careful to not release the exact figures of how many opponents are required to grant outmanned to any team.
I’ve never seen this happen before, so if on the same BL there was both a queue for those attempting to enter the BL as well as an outmanned buff on your group then it was a bug that should have been reported.
