Prestige for me isn’t looking expensive, it’s looking awesome. I personally value skins that show off that I have achieved something, and even if Fractal skins are RNG-driven, for me using them shows off that at a minimum I got to L20 and had a sufficient amount of dedication to do FotM enough to get the ones I needed. I use Fractal skins for basically everything where possible because for me it shows my dedication to that content and the challenge therein.

I also wear God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals as my title on every character. I played GW1 for seven years and fought hard to earn GWAMM and 50/50, and to me, that title is more prestigious than absolutely anything else in GW2 at the moment. Not even The Emperor, Golden, Been There. Done That., or Dungeon Master is worth nearly as much to me as GWAMM. I want to wear that GW1 success on my sleeve wherever I go so people know my level of dedication.

High achievement points don’t really interest me. I’m in the top 500 on the leaderboard for NA, but whatever, I don’t farm them like crazy because I don’t really care. I enjoy completing the achievement panels to say things like “I have 100% of the slayer panel!”, but it otherwise doesn’t mean much to me. (Eventually I will do Keg Brawl, I swear)

That’s about it for me.

I highly doubt this will be in the patch going live tomorrow because it’ll still have to go through QA, but I expect it will be in the patch at the end of the month.

I’m telling you guys…

GL is great and an awesome speed kill, but you guys should run speed kills of Grawl Boss L48 FotM. I would love to see how you all properly optimize for a boss that so heavily punishes melee, and how you’d balance the need for dps against the need for multiple reflects to handle the eles.

Ok we found a good repro case. It has to do with how death shroud and downed used to interact. I will get someone on it today and try and get a fix to you all asap.

He repeated his tests in a L80 zone Frostgorge Sound above, and has posted his measurements there. They indicate the same thing. Furthermore, I have been experiencing this personally in Fractals, where my necromancer’s downed state is particularly vulnerable compared to my other classes.

Believe it or not, I actually ran out of space in the OP for all of the bugs, so I will begin work compiling another post near the top to include the new ones people have listed. Meanwhile, I have a new bug of my own to add:

• Cliffside Fractal: If you wipe against the final boss and there are still mobs alive at the boss area, they will teleport to your team when you revive and begin attacking you there as opposed to vanishing and properly resetting.

WvW Match resets are not the same thing as new builds. We’ll have some updates to arrow carts to share with you when the next build comes through.

If you do this, you should refund players points spent in the AC mastery ability line. Countless people only got them because of the current state of ACs and their importance to strategic playing.

Interesting. I was commanding when you posted this, and the user Reikou was in the map at the time, but he provided zero valuable information at all, and more often than not got himself killed and complained about it. I reported him for griefing after reading this post, but I honestly don’t know what ANet will do about a TS griefing violation. I recommend banning his IP from your TS and making people validate (we do this on ours). On more than one occasion we’ve had a CD member or SoS member in our TS, and we make it a point to purge anyone who doesn’t confirm themselves regularly to get rid of them. You should do the same, because we don’t want those “spies” any more than you do.

So while we’re on the topic of cheating. How long before the “We Are Prepared [PREP]” guild is going to stop ruining the WvW scene with their rampant multiclienting? Is this guild just one person with a bunch of accounts or what?

I’ve reported every single account of this user, and have instructed my groups to stop whatever the hell they were doing and do the same before we moved on. That’s the best I can offer, and I hope that ANet bans the accounts, but it’s really in their hands.

I sincerely apologize to our opponents for any “bad seeds” that may be doing stupid things. If we could do more to stop them, we would.

I don’t think it should be that hard. Just turn the values in the traits into variables, and then pull data directly from the traits data base into those variables after any patch/maintenance.

So for example, X% of toughness is given as a bonus to precision. X is being filled in by a query to the database that stores the actual numerical data on what traits do.

You’re right, it’s not hard…. if you have access to the data. It’s entirely possible that what manages the tooltips is in a different C++ project or just inaccessible for whatever reason (lots of things can cause this). That makes this more of a project founded in restructuring their data management rather than “can I put a variable into a string” which is, as you described, easy.

Just do your entire run with your group before you start the stream and record the video. Then when you do the stream, playback the video that you recorded and add your commentary live then.

If Izzy does a 24/7 livestream, we’d drop to T5 rather than go up with the number of enemies that would log on just to have a chance to kill Izzy on stream. :P

My only regret is that I had to be at work while it was going on. ;-;

EBay is far enough behind that at this point your goal is not possible within the Glicko2 system unless you were to somehow completely keep one of our colors (red / blue) off the map for the entirety of the week. Even then, EBay would need to be making the exact same kind of push on their match to gain points to cross the threshold.

I find pugs for Arah regularly, but I also use all available channels. Anyway, imagine how bad your experience would be if it were a 40-man raid.

And why in the world couldn’t you communicate this to your guild through proper channels? This has nothing to do with WvW at large.

Five man groups mean a lot of things:

• Each player’s contributions matter more
• Keeps combat exciting and dynamic without being chaos in a game without a trinity
• Easier to find a group because you require fewer people in the group

pro tip don’t play with guild groups unless its yours. Looks at guild tags and if you see 3+ ppl from same guild find another group

Anyone who does this also misses out on awesome guild groups looking for +1 that clear L48 in as quick a time as possible with zero wipes. I know my guild does this, and we certainly don’t kick at the end.

They’re working on it, and they’re making sure it’s integrated with every part of the game. That’s why it takes so much time. It will be out before the end of the year; Colin said so.

I think a better solution is still to have a “WvW Bank” that all loot drops go into. Then, when you’re done for the night, you can go to this “WvW Bank” at your spawn and take items out (you cannot put items in). These items will disappear on their own after 24 hours of being put in to keep things from being stored there. This way, when fighting in WvW, you don’t even have to think about loot or your bag space or that you need to merch or whatever. You just kill people and think about it when you’re done for the night.

It’s usually not that bad during NA hours, but I’ve seen a lot of commanders who won’t detag and I’ve never seen before this past week. I’m not really sure why we’ve seen outmanned so many times this week, but in one sense I’m a little concerned and in another sense I figure it’s just typical deviation from the norm for our server. I wouldn’t worry terribly, just keep fighting the good fight.

Hey there Pie:

Lots of people looking for guilds on SBI these past few days is great, it has me hopeful! Anyway, I’ll cut to the chase. I am the guild master of a medium-sized PvX casual guild on the SBI server, VZ. That said, VZ is primarily a PvE guild, but we do WvW frequently as both skirmishers and leaders. I am personally a commander both in the official SBI TS and an acting commander in WvW (primarily EB). I lead mostly on weekends due to my busy real life schedule, but when I’m in WvW, if we need a leader, I never hesitate to tag on and get moving. Because we have so many PvEers in our guild, we’re incredibly versed in dungeons as well. We have many players with the dungeon master title, many players in L48+ fractals (and I have a horde of a friends list with even more that I can rally), and we do lots of guild missions (we currently have bounties and treks, and nearly have rushes). We also do TPvP periodically, and have an officer who frequently participates in higher level tournaments (he’s doing one tonight!) if you’ve ever been interested in that.

Like I said, we’re very casual, so we don’t force players to do anything they don’t want to do. We have no problem teaching others how to do instances they don’t yet know, providing they will listen, and we love redoing old instances periodically for the fun of it. We use the Stormbluff Isle official TS so we can hop to the WvW channels as needed, but we use a general PvE channel for most of our chatting (lots of space!).

We’re primarily an EST guild, but we play all the time on weekends, and so anything from PST to EST is totally workable (we have players from them all!). That all said, I kind of let this get a bit long, but I was really excited when I saw your LFG post, so I wanted to make sure I communicated everything.

Haha, I read “virgin player” and had the totally wrong impression of what you meant. I hope you find the guild you’re looking for, but you might want to watch for the possible out-of-context meaning of your next thread title.

They read it, take what they like and what makes sense, and bring it to their meetings with them. Jonathan Sharp and Rob Hrouda and others have commented before that this is what they do. Colin has also said that he’s printed out posts to bring to meetings with him before.

I do 48’s and sometimes get no rares, no cores, and nothing at the end. That’s just the nature of RNG. I agree that FotM’s loot needs to be improved significantly, but as it stands, that’s just the way it is right now.

Let me tell you a bit about my guild, and you can decide if you think it’s a good fit or not. First of all, we’re not a meat-grinder guild, I won’t write you a cookie-cutter response, and I’m not going to send you the same PM I’ve sent anyone else (not even with just a few words changed). VZ is a guild that wants to get to know you and wants you to become a good friend.

We’re a casual medium-sized PvE / WvW guild on the Stormbluff Isle server (where you’re from). We primarily do PvE content with a smattering of WvW in there, have many dungeon masters, are generally crush all PvE content in-game. That’s why I think you’d be a good fit. We are willing to teach you the rigs of the instances if you want to learn, and we’re at the top levels of things like Fractals too if you’re interested in that. We’re also a primarily EST guild, but because you said you get home at around 6-7 central, that fits right in with when most of us get home from work and start playing in strength, so it should be a good match. I also want to mention that we currently have Guild Bounties and Guild Treks, and nearly have Guild Rushes done, so we’re definitely on our way to having lots of guild missions. We do them weekly.

This will become a new guild puzzle when it is finished. It’s been confirmed by the developer who works on it on the GW2 Reddit. It is not one of the two currently available Guild Puzzles and will come out “eventually”.

Southsun cove will feature a mixture of both temporary story lines and content, as well as permanent additions of playable content as a result of what happens there.

Edited to add: Some temporary content may also appear again in the future in other story lines, events, or even find permanent homes as the world continues to change.

Is there any information about what types we can expect to stay and what types of content we can expect to go? Is it safe to assume that there will be a lot more to do forever-after in Southsun Cove after this event? Are you guys going to be adding more permanent dynamic events to the map to make it more worth visiting on an L80 character? Perhaps a meta chain?

Please never change this ANet. It’s really important for good sportsmanship in duels and things of that nature, such as the jump puzzles.

Yeah, Colin, that’s great! Make sure to check some of the champions added to the Temple of Lyssa and other meta events in Orr, too. That risen wraith isn’t the only one totally out of whack.

Make sure you do what Kat suggests on the character you finished the achievement on. If it’s anything like daily achievements and map completions, that chest will only be available to that specific character.

You didn’t wait long enough. After you kill the maw, you have to sit there for awhile before the level will become the next highest number. If you leave beforehand, it doesn’t count.

It’s still possible.

Anet will action this player if you report him, so definitely do that. That said, they cannot and will not restore your guild bank’s contents after the fact, so hopefully this has been a good lesson to you as to who you should trust.

Make sure you tell them to completely ignore him. If everyone ignores him and does not respond, he will eventually get bored and go away.

I’ve already got him on ignore, but unfortunately a lot of our pugs who just run around behind any tag follow him and it’s caused a lot of unnecessary loss of life and players.

Also, I don’t remember offhand what his guild is, but the other night he was running by SoS’ keep in EB and had a bunch of SoS guys with him running around with him and not attacking him, also in the same guild. I’m not going to call him a spy, because no one probably listens to him anyway, but it would be awesome if we could coordinate with some SoS people to get him killed when/if we see him out and about. Thanks.

I run 0AR in L48 FotM all the time with my friends for the personal challenge. The only time I ever get downed against an agony-inflicting attack is against maw thanks to how much I play Fractals, but I certainly wouldn’t do that in pubs. The only reason I mention this is because AR doesn’t mean anything if you’re a good player, and as a result of that I don’t gear check other players ever.

How a player plays is more important than their AR. I’ve been in groups where a player with 45AR dies more than anyone else and cannot dodge to save their life, and I’ve been with players who have 0 AR and play perfectly. If a player I am with is particularly awful and is holding the team back from succeeding, I will kick them and replace them mid-run, but I always give players the benefit of the doubt before we get in and actually see how they play.

After reading this I got dredge at FotM 48 last night and paid attention when they were coming out of the cart since we full melee them.

I got it recently and looked at it too… I tend to agree that the invulnerable should probably not be as long as it is. I’ll mark it in the OP because it’s rather annoying and the Dredge literally just stand there doing nothing for 4 seconds or so.

Pretty sure this is normal behavior. The ice ele boss can stack up to 6 stacks of agony on you if you stand in his pulsing agony melee attack or if the icicle drops layer over each other. I think this is normal behavior.

Bottom line is that we didn’t get it done this week, nothing more.

It’s also worth noting that how our enemies play directly affects how we play. In previous weeks, a lot of fighting was done over CD’s holdings; for instance both SoS and SBI would roll through AP / Mendons / OW constantly. In this week, a lot of focus is being put on Durios, QL, and Bravost, and this is just in EB (which keeps us out of SM). We’ve been seeing a lot more pressure on our BL as well.

I personally enjoy it more this way because it teaches us more as players and as a community, and it’s more fun because there’s a lot more bags to loot. That said, we have work to do, and we know it.

I think the problem Devon describes is exactly what’s happening. Somehow people are getting out of spawn with the “Siege Deployment Blocked” buff still on them, and whenever those people put supply into anything, it destroys the siege that they are attempting to build. This gives the appearance that siege ‘disappears’. All it takes is for the person to attempt to put supply into it, as well, even if they never actually get any supply put into it. This means that if the first person who tries to put supply into a siege has the buff, it’ll appear as though it disappeared for no reason. I can definitely confirm that this has happened on SBI in recent days, as we’ve lost a lot of superior siege that way.

Even when Maguuma goes up a tier we aren’t free of them.

Every sigil uses the same internal cooldown timer, not individual ones.
