Yeah my Guild had people start it early a few times. We laid down the law no one gets in melee range of the shiny or it’s gkick. One of our more prominent members decided to be funny and go dance on it.

It’s either a bug or it’s a tooltip error with the 5% booster. One way or the other something needs to be addressed by ANet.

If you wanted to shoot it from the shoulder, you should’ve played a Warrior. All Engineer rifle skills treat it like a shotgun.

Haviz actually did post a video the other day where his group of three people kills GL in 15-18 seconds. I saw it before it was taken down by the moderators. Don’t blame him for not being able to post it here without being infracted.

That said, I’d be curious to know the trick behind it because it doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense to me. And for the record, they should really make GL’s projectiles immune to being reflected (but still able to be absorbed).

It’s okay, I like being a part of a server that has zero major WvW guilds and where we earn what keep we have through our personal skill and community togetherness. I’ve been there and done that with the big guilds and all that, and I’ve never enjoyed WvW as much as I do now where it’s a couple dozen “one-man armies” banded together. Even if that means we can never beat SoS’ coverage, I love that we can even give you a run for your money at all!

You have yet to push us out of this tier, after all.

Of course it is; there’s a monthly event happening in SSC with +200% MF! Things will be back to normal after.

I’m sorry if I got you SoS guys all in a tissy over my posts last night; I was only posting those screenshots because earlier in the week an SoS player in this very thread from FaTe (whose posts have since been deleted for flaming) did the exact same thing, and I thought it would be fun and in the spirit of healthy competition to return the favor. At the time, when we took SM, we had no idea that CD had hacked anything, and it appeared for all intents and purposes that the SM flip was legit, and that we had ninjaed it before you guys (SoS) could take it back. It was the perfect opportunity for me to post on the forums about it, especially because I told you guys not two hours earlier we’d take it at some point that night at your all’s beach party!

Anyway, we’re outnumbered almost all of the time by either CD or SoS (This morning, one CD guild had more players in our BL than our entire server had in all four maps!), so for us, being able to do anything against you guys is a feat worth celebrating. Don’t take it too seriously.

Yes, you’ve caught me. I’m actually a triple agent for CD who switched to SBI to party with SoS at your beach party. I know all of the masterful tricks, and I’m actually on all three servers’ VOIP servers at the exact same time. You have no chance to survive make your time.

I had no idea how CD got SM in the first place, though I was kind of shocked that it happened at all. Make sure to report whatever glitch was used to ‘exploits@arena.net’ without the quotes.

I’m not one to brag, even if we are opportunists at best, but after some SoS from FaTe started hating earlier in the week when you guys got SM from us, I felt like executing my own form of poetic justice even if we’ll just lose it in again (edit: while I was posting this, LMAO). At least I got to use FaTe’s heroes’ banner!

Maw instantly kills you at any difficulty at or above 50. The only way you can progress is to do L79 repeatedly, and even then, you can never do your dailies because Maw will auto-kill your team.

What do you want? Sympathy? Us to send you gold out of pity? ANet to refund you because you bought items, gambled, and lost? I don’t get it. There have been hundreds of threads about this, and the box even says that you get random items from it. RNG is RNG, and I’m sorry you lost, but that’s how it works.

I should be home for the tail end of it then. Guess I’ll be hobnobbing with SoS instead of punching them in the face tonight!

Terribly! Use Corrupt Boon / Epidemic / something else instead! Really, that skill is just bad.

It does, it just doesn’t appear in the hero panel. This was confirmed by a dev the other week when they added MF to the hero panel.

That’s all true, and I’m well aware of it.

My perspective is a little different because I don’t play PvE exclusively; I also play WvW a lot, where running a berserker warrior is perhaps the single greatest way to die as fast as possible and help your group as little as possible, and where PVT gear is very important for pretty much anything that wants to lead a pack against an enemy force. My builds and styles are primarily chosen to be good enough in PvE, and ideal in WvW for my role. That way I don’t have to carry a dozen different armor sets for different situations (or retrait every time I switch from PvE / WvW; that’s pricey!).

I suppose I run a Necromancer exclusively in FotM these days because I like giving Necromancers a good name. I like knowing that I can join a pub group of “whatever” and contribute a lot to a group that is most certainly not optimized and can use every bit of help it can get. I like that afterward, most will comment that they’ve never seen a Necromancer contribute so positively to a group, and maybe in future runs those guys won’t kick Necros, or will at least give them a chance. Maybe I just enjoy the way a Necromancer plays more than the GW2 trinity (W / G / M) for certain instances. Maybe I’m just a bad player who won’t admit it. Whatever it is, I know that Necromancers aren’t suited for the fastest speed clears in the world, but that my groups are usually not that far behind them. It sure doesn’t feel like I am dragging my guild teams through the mud when I play something other than a W / G / M. 45 minute FotM 48’s are pretty good in my book.

If other classed worked as well in PvE as Guardians / Warriors / Mesmers, then people probably wouldn’t have much of an issue with “bring whatever you want.”

The problem isn’t that those classes are bad in PvE, but that those classes have higher skill thresholds in PvE than Warrior/Guardian/Mesmer. Warrior/Guardian/Mesmer are easy to play, which means on average you see fewer bad ones, whereas PvE Engineers/Necros/Thieves are very hard to play well, but extremely rewarding when played well.

I play my Necromancer exclusively in L48 FotM, and I’d be happy to do a run with anyone here to prove just how valuable the class is to a group in PvE. You want to see an increase in DPS? How about if those Dredge don’t have protection anymore? What if I said I could turn that Protection into 15 stacks of Vulnerability? How about perma AOE weakness on every enemy you encounter? The only thing that mitigates more damage than my Necromancer’s blinds is a OH Pistol Thief, which if played well is also an incredible asset to a team in PvE.

If you’re pugging with randoms you don’t know, I can understand being wary of a Thief or a Necromancer or whatever, but trust you in me that a good player can make those classes shine just as bright as any Warrior / Guardian / Mesmer.

I’ll add my experiences to the pot.

I don’t run a full DPS build on my Warrior; I am 2/3 Berserker. The other 1/3 I switch between PVT gear for commanding in WvW / team support in PvE if I’m the only melee and Zerker for joke-mode PvE content where everything melts anyway. In my groups, I’m not stingey about what classes everyone brings, so sometimes I run into groups where I am the only melee class against a boss that does 1/2 of a zerker warrior’s HP per hit with an auto-attack. In those cases I typically prefer to be a bit bulkier so that I can support the team if they get hit or survive an extra hit myself since I’m the only one in his face. The extra bulk really helps if someone gets downed and you have to res them while weathering fire.

I do agree that it’s important to bring significant DPS to the table, but I don’t think it’s “100% berserker or you’re a bad player”. My Guardian runs full PVT gear, but maintains 16-19 stacks of might on the entire team constantly, perma protection, perma swiftness, perma regeneration, huge control, and numerous on-demand aoe aegis activations. I have tested it thoroughly, and teams that bring my guardian and a few warriors do significantly more damage than all warriors because I serve as an anchor that allows those other warriors to do their damage unfettered. They don’t have to dodge as often, or back out of melee ever, all because I sit there and laugh at the enemy boss’s dps while making my allies stronger.

There is more to the game than dps, but certain classes fill certain roles significantly better than others. It’s important to be able to identify those classes that shine in certain ways and to support your team successfully however best suits your class.

You already own the game, so hop in and try it. You’re not behind on anything, and it doesn’t cost you anything. Give it a try and see if you like it.

They need to add back Perfect Salvage Kits from GW1.

25 Charges. Salvages upgrades out of items without destroying the item.

That boss has no projectiles to reflect. It looks like a combination of a warrior burst skill and the mesmer’s shatters at the same moment. Note that the difficulty is also quite low, so these bosses take significant percent damage from players.

My level 9 engineer gets 10 badges every half of an hour running with a zerg. Do you just not attack enemies at all or something?

It’s only for people to get their achievements, and has no buffs.

Hi everyone,

We understand the frustration about not having enough notice to claim the achievement. The original date given for the Epilogue was incorrect, and while we corrected date in forum posts and on the website, some did not see the updated information or have the time to collect that achievement.

We will put the bonfires back in the game tomorrow, sometime during ArenaNet office hours, so players who missed out can get the Rallying Flame achievement. The bonfires will not give any buffs, however.

I get siege donated occasionally too, but many commanders (myself included) on lower tier servers aren’t in gigantic guilds that can front big upgrade/donation plans. I accept donations whenever possible, but I don’t outright ask for them, and if I need something, I buy it first with badges and then with silver if I run out of badges. It adds up fast (especially if you can’t hold points overnight and have to upgrade again!).

The rewards are already pretty high and I don’t even zerg. You just need to take one sentry and a dolyak for every time you die and you’ll probably be breaking even. Throw in a camp or two and you just paid for your lvl 80 food.

It’s a matter of perspective. A random PvE player could make 20x that in the time it takes you to earn enough to pay for your food. Why would said random PvE player, then, ever venture into WvW? The price tag of WvW is exacerbated if you’re a commander buying siege or if you upgrade bases, too; many a night go by where I am constantly in the red even if I did really well that night.

These should be in now, if you read the patch notes that just went up.

GW2 is doing well considering its different revenue streams. Realize that Lineage 1 is an MMO with a subscription, and is popular in Asian cultures. So long as it has significant subscriptions, it will naturally earn more money than GW2, whose only revenue post-box-sales is the gem store. The very fact that a F2P game like GW2 is doing better than NCSoft’s other games tells of the magnitude of the success of GW2.

There is nothing to be worried about.

You know what? I’ll help you for free. I don’t want you to have to pay someone for something that the community should encourage you to learn anyway. I probably won’t just “go down a list” or whatever, but my guild and I do dungeons frequently, and can easily be convinced to do random ones for funsies.

Guild missions are a success! Nicely done last night, guys, on the other ones. I’m super excited for Guild Rushes, which are just around the corner for us, and all the fun they bring to the table!

You should also add an L80 version of the omelet for sale so that I would actually consider using it as a food buff in dungeons and WvW and so on!

At this point in the game, lots of players are spread out over all of the zones, and aren’t super concentrated in one place (except southsun cove for the event!). When you’re doing your personal story, it is personal unless you invite other people to join you. The game doesn’t force you to play with others unless you want to do dungeons and other party-based content down the road (like at the very very end of your story to make it feel bigger than just you).

If you want people to run around with, ask people!

Swore I wouldn’t keep the argument up, but I’ll drop this here as a last statement. In the US, which is the only country I am currently going to consider (Sorry EU friends, but I can’t make an analogy for countries I don’t know the laws of!), you have to have a co-signer over the age of 21 to get a credit card that you can use to buy gems. The same is true for bank institutions (could be a minimum of 18 years of age, but it’s not a huge deal for this discourse), which is required for a Paypal linked account. Basically, you either need to be an adult or have an adult co-sign and essentially vouch for your mental faculties.

If you are not legally an adult and are using real money on gems and have a gambling addiction, the real person you should be pointing fingers at is the person who co-signed your credit card or bank account. They need to be made aware of your addiction, and they need to pull control of your finances sooner rather than later. This is not ANet’s fault.

There is also the possibility of buying gems at like Best Buy or something with gem cards, but if you’re making the kind of money as a minor to have an addiction to gems, well, hopefully someone from your family will notice and take action.

I kill myself in fractals 48 because it’s the only content in game that is remotely challenging and requires remotely good coordination. Even then, I don’t think it’s difficult enough (no, bigger HP pools are not difficulty, that’s time gating), and it could use to be more dynamic, so I’m hoping they up the ante when they finally release 50+.

Fractal skins out the wazoo is just a perk of enjoying the content for me, so it’s not a grind at all.
