Infact I love the collection part of the crafting… the time it takes to go around the map and collect stuff is the only good thing I can say about it…

The problem is precursors are cheaper in value than the Tier 1 of 3 collection item. It has nothing to do with the time it takes… it has to do directly with the unbalanced value

Legendary Crafting Not Worth It...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Roguefire.8174

Roguefire.8174

I was excited to do legendary crafting and had dreams of collecting every single precursor by doing unique tasks to obtain them. This is only maybe 20% true. The other 80% is either grinding various different mats and crafting once a day ascended mats for 10+ days just for Tier 1 or paying 100’s of gold… Really defeats the purpose.

Here was my Journey to Tier 2
1st I leveled legendary crafting which took a couple hours
2nd I purchased all “Vol. 1”s from Vendor for 5 gold 10k karma each (100g, 200k karma)

I started off getting some items for the Howler randomly, and decided to do the Howler first… I had to craft a Wolf Totem, 2 of the 4 items to craft it were collection items from bosses, which was great! the other was 100 bloodstone and then was a little annoyed the 4th was 4xspiritwood planks… so 4 days of ascended mats or 34g… then it got fun again where I went all over the world killing various ambient creatures and I felt like that was exactly what I was expecting. Then the reward was 1 of the 4 items needed to get to Tier 2… the other 3 items required 10 Elonion Leather Squares (90g), 2 Spiritwood Plank (17g) Deldrimor Steel Ingots (20g), and a few other mats all totaling up to about 150g value.
So overall I spent close to 300g and about 4-6 hours of gameplay just to get 4 AP and the ugliest warhorn skin I’ve ever seen [&AgGxFgEA] that looks like a burned PoS… go ahead copy that and look at it in game…. To top it off… the precursor Howl is valued at 298g instant buy… also Tier 2 starts off requring 1000 bandit crests… so needless to say I’m done with legendary crafting… ABSOLUTELY Done!

And please don’t say you can farm mats and get it for free, because that’s a major misconception. Gold = Time = Mats… they all have values equal to eachother… and if mats value for Tier 1 of 3 is more than the item itself, then its a complete ripoff! I’m considering reporting this and would be more than happy to give back the ap and delete the item for 300g… what a scam

Roguefire.8174

To complete “Ad Infinitum I: Finite Results” I needed buy the Prototype Fractal Capacitor for 1350 fractal relics. After completing over 100 scales of fractals (many many hours of running fractals) and saving fractal relics I purchased the Prototype Fractal Capacitor, here is the exact item link [&AgG+kAAA]. I completed “Ad Infinitum I: Finite Results” crafted the Finite Results backpiece and its in my bank as proof. I decided to clean up my inventory from obsolete items and in the process I accidentally deleted the Prototype Fractal Capacitor. It gave me no type to destroy option, it just destroyed the item. Now I need that item to continue Ad Infinitum II: Upper Bound… Right now I feel pretty sick as I have deleted days worth of gameplay.

The thing that is confusing is every single other item in this collection quest was junk items, and had no value once collected. The backpiece was in a pile of all those junk items

Cliffside Hammer Bug

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Roguefire.8174

Roguefire.8174

The times I have come across this bug it is fixed by lowering the dps in the last fase. Basically just autoattack and you should be fine. Last time it happened I was the only one near the boss and picked up the hammer, got the skills then the boss yanked it back. Wipe and repeat with only autoattack last fase and it was ok again. Try it next time, could be unrelated but maybe not.

I already understand there are ways around it, but 100% of the fractals I run are pugs… I spend more time explaining stuff in this fractal than all other fractals combined! I have even explained this bug every single time before the final boss fight and yet every single time the first attempt the bug happens.

I hate this fractals specifically because everyone wants to do it their own way and I always let someone do it their way before succeeding my way. This fractal requires the most explaining and teamwork, and this also leads to the most wipes, and most people abandoning the group.

Just fix the bug please so it’s one less thing to deal with when I come across this scale.

Roguefire.8174

I have been playing through GW1 recently, and realized that I was missing the expansion Eye of the North. I purchased the GW1 Trillogy on Steam for $15, and this single expansion is on Steam for $20… I was expecting it to be around $5.

To put things into perspective, GW2 is now free to play after 3 years… Guild Wars+Factions+Nightfall was $15… and Eye of the North Expansion was released in August 2007 and costs $20.

I looked on sites like Green Man Gaming to see if I could find a deal on a steam key but its not listed on that site. Is there a legitimate source where I can get a steam key cheaper than $20?

Are you speed salvaging to a point where the loot queue goes rolling by for several minutes? That might have a memory limitation or an unhandled exception.

Logout to character select then back in to wipe it.

Yes this is exactly what I’m doing. I never had an issue before a recent patch. Now its crashing sometimes within 2 seconds, and sometimes it takes 30 seconds.

The game will freeze, and a bug report menu will pop up and then I have to restart the game. I’m in the business of mass buying and salvaging items and this is really hindering my process.

you can make almost 2 gold per greater ram lantern right now. But that is only if you have the lowest tier essence of luck.

And if they will even sell. Lucky to get less than 2g per. Worthless if you have compiled your essence of luck like I have.

Roguefire.8174

The fun part about getting high MF is that investment per-return is awful for the majority of the cases. Say an item has 1% chance to drop. With 100MF you have 2%, with 300MF you have 4%. But. Between 200MF and 300MF the increase in drop rate is only 33% and the amount of luck necessary becomes astronomical somewhere around 150MF mark. So not only are you getting smaller (relatively to current value) returns, you also need to invest more. I suspect that if someone worked out math in the detail, they’d find that the time it would take to pay off their salvaging vs vending of blues/greens for luck (past MF200 or so) would be in years if not decades.

People that keep saying this don’t seem to understand that it is quite easy to make hundreds of gold and cap magic find simultaneously. Your whole post and everyone that tries to make this point is dead wrong.

In the end, you asked for a way NOT to get luck when reaching the 300% cap. Forging greens and selling blues is something you CAN do. I’m NOT forcing you to do it. I’m NOT saying that it is more practical or better than just salvaging you loot either.

I’m just saying that you won’t get any essence of luck using this method, which is what was asked for in the OP.

My main point being… can you imagine every time your inventory fills up you have to say “Hold up! Gotta go to the forge”. Then click 4 items at a time until its all cleared that’s just as many clicks as it would be to salvage and destroy the luck.

Selling every single blue and green on tp or forging them would take longer than clicking luck, and even yield less profit. That’s not a solution, that would be an even bigger problem.

Forging blues yields less profit than selling them to the npc. On that I agree.

Forging green however… I’m not so sure. Mix armour and weapons so you have a change to get cloth out of your green weapons on top of an exo.

If the forge yielded consistent higher profits then it would cause inflation. The forge is a gamble where the house always wins majority. Anyone who thinks the forge is a good way to make profit, will eventually go broke.

I watched my friend invest thousands and thousands of gold in the forge, and sometimes its a roller coaster, but it always ends up at the bottom.

My main point being… can you imagine every time your inventory fills up you have to say “Hold up! Gotta go to the forge”. Then click 4 items at a time until its all cleared that’s just as many clicks as it would be to salvage and destroy the luck.
