[HoT PvE] Thief Melee AoE & Patch

By separating power dagger and condi dagger with a trait, the full weapon bars would become useful. As it is, there are a few lame skills depending on whether you’ve gone power or condi and this is entirely fixable.

This idea has merit. I like it.

Ditto. Really good suggestion. Btw I love the HoT mechanic where we can take a trait to change the functions of our dodge. Honestly I wanna see this in every single trait line for lots of skills, it will add so much diversity.

[Spoilers] Story quality way too low

What you’re not grasping is that the story doesn’t reside solely within the instances. Pay attention to the story in the maps themselves.

And neither did the story of the core game, all the maps, especially Orr had minor to major events that helped advance either the main plot, or small side stories. Yet the core game still had 8 chapters with 8~16 instances a chapter; this expansion however, isn’t even a quarter of that. In GW1, the expansion’s stories matched the size of the core game. Even the prologue, LS S2 was twice as long as the expansion. In all regards, the story was simply too short for an expansion, and thus, vastly underwhelming, and grossly disappointing.

Living Story Season 2 also told a good portion of its story through events, but those events where made mandatory, merged with story instances in a chronological order that flowed beautifully and helped fill in and flush out the story that instances missed. Why could they not have replicated that here? Would that not better fit what you claim they have done?

Point is, yes, events help expand the story, but ‘expand’ and ‘rely upon’ are two different things, and a story that cannot stand alone without the events to tell 75% of it, is a weak story. Simply put, I don’t think the expansion was a bad story necessarily, but it felt hollow, rushed, short, and unfinished(didn’t even have a conclusion), lacking most of the features that they promised would be prominent.

Having thoroughly enjoyed LS S2, I had believed ANet to have made leaps and bounds in their story telling, having greatly improved from the core game and LS S1, and expected HoT to be even better. This was my most highly anticipated feature of this expansion… never have I been more disappointed in ANet.

Factions matched the size of Prophecies? You sure?
Nightfall matched the size of Prophecies? You sure?

But wait. Those were standalone campaigns and not expansions. How about taking a look at EotN.

EotN was a rushed xpac and the beginning of the end of GW storytelling. It replaced the actual campaign which was supposed to be Utopia.

The player reviews for EotN were lolsy at best. I dare say not many really care about the elder dragons at all… they are seriously not interesting characters or boss fights, first of all they are way too big so we can only fight their stupid ‘images’.

What people care about are cool & interesting (AND ALREADY DEVELOPED) characters from the story like Palawa Joko, Shiro, all of the Gods like Abbadon which they scrapped in fractals for that horrible failedasuraexperiment#93028492034824 fractal with a crap story.

Honestly so many bad decisions are made in GW2 as far as story goes that it’s really almost unbelievable how much potential they are straight up ignoring. For the love of all that is holy, scrap these stupid dragons and use characters people care about.

We get it, the elder dragons are OP as hell, can we kill at least 3 of them in HoT so you can quicker develop Cantha / Elona?

Looks like they forgot to add that they’re working on Canttha and Elona.

One can dream QQ

Recognition of Your Support
Participation for events is getting an update! Supporting your allies will contribute toward event participation in most events across Guild Wars 2. You must still actively attack a target to receive rewards from them, but as long as you land a few attacks you’ll also get additional contribution from applying boons, removing conditions, reviving allies, and healing allies. These will all generate bonus contribution on top of your attacks, so players who mostly heal/support can earn the same credit as players who do large amounts of DPS.

Sounds cool

Are they really planning a Guild Wars 3?

I see these threads every time a new WoW xpac releases, no, the game is not going to die or be abandoned (like they did with GW1…) because it is a major release & probably has many many years ahead of it.

Did you know? HOW WOULD I?

Honestly, I think the OP has a point.

/me waves walking cane, mumbles something about walking uphill through snow to look up Dungeon & Dragon magazines for game hints back in his day.

I agree with your entire post, especially that last part! lol!

On a sad note, I just found out David Bowie just died.

69 doesn’t seem all that old these days where folks seem to be healthy and live much longer lives.. I didn’t even know he was ill.

RIP David Bowie.

Y u do dis? srsly… qq

OT: I think you need to calm down OP they can’t put every single piece of info into the game intro imagine how annoying that would be. I knew this was possible because I played GW2 before the xpac and this was one of the featured… features.

I mean before you salvage something you could have asked someone.

I think we can all agree GW2 is a great MMO but the xpac definitely destroyed any semblance of balance it had which is unfortunate… but expected.

Honestly as a main pvper I am inclined to play another game until this settles because it is really really horrible unless you play 1 of the cancer meta builds but I find ways to enjoy myself in other categories.

I would prefer pvp though…. seriously sucks that it’s in such a state.

What would you like to see in next expansion?

New blood on the writing staff. Perhaps an entirely new team.

Less vertical map design.

A rework of the Ranger core mechanic that involves the option to trade the pet for a DPS buff of some sort. This could be implemented via a new elite spec.

Fewer unethical business decisions (such as removing a core game feature and adding it back, in modified form, gated behind the expansion purchase)

VASTLY MORE NEW WEAPON SKINS.

My hunter in WoW is so much fun since I can take the trait to relieve my pet and get a 30% dmg boost or so. The reason I hated pets so much was they get in your way during loot and when talking to NPCS lol GW2 don’t really have that problem but still would be a great addition just for the option.

^ pretty sure the developers have abandoned this class/forum section and will never see it or care.

this is too true lol

i am out of here once bns is live xD

I’ve played BnS, the 1v1 pvp is far beyond GW2 but the pve is meh, which is ok it will be my main pvp game but don’t expect anything more ;p

GW2 may still have its place once the balance fiasco from the xpac is over with. I work a lot so GW has always been my go-to game for casual but serious play since GW1, can’t really do that in other MMOS.

What elite spec is that? He can use rifle!!!

That’s not a real Rifle. It’s an environmental weapon from Township of Claypool. He was doing the “Hold, Hold, Hold, Fire!” Heart event.

I laughed pretty hard at this one.

Also, what legend do you think he channels?

The legend of Oscar… loool

They can just disable it in JP areas and cities. Pretty sure that’s what they’ll do.

My thoughts as well.

Cantha is easily my favorite campaign from the original Guild Wars, not just because it added the Assassin ( my favorite ) but the incredible amount of new skills & artwork was simply beautiful.

I still enjoy going through the campaign with a new character, Shiro is the ultimate evil bad*ss and I want his story continued. He was taken by the envoys and put somewhere in the UW, will we get to visit that in GW2? It would seriously take away from a HUGE part of GW if Cantha doesn’t exist anymore.. which doesn’t make sense anyway.

You can’t just take a big chunk of the lore out because some people will be offended… I don’t recall Factions starting an uprising in the Asian territories.

COME ON ARENANET! Cantha deserves some much needed love, as does Elona. Perhaps in Elona we can overthrow the tyrannical rule of Palawa Joko and restore the Sun Spears to protectors of all Elona. Gotta admit, although I love Cantha and the lore behind it, Nightfall was my favorite, simply because I got to become a Sun Spear.

Hey! Palawa Joko is simply too awesome to be evil, I always saw him as kind of chaotic-neutral. I really really hope we get to see him and he helps us defeat the elder dragon. We all know who the true king of the undead is! It sure as hell wasn’t Zhaitan lol…
