I, Serelisk, am currently waiting for Guild Halls.
My guild tried to explore down there before using similar tactic. We got auto ported to jail inside Rata Sum xD
I’m annoyed to even see it announced when Bar Brawl (which has had achievements for months) isn’t in the game yet…
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Bar Brawl completely replaced by Costume Brawl? And reasoning behind it was that CB could be done anywhere in the world, even outside a dungeon entrance waiting for more group members; this is while BB could only be done within the confines of a specific bar not even within the area that most population traverses towards.
You’re wrong, costume brawl was actually added before we got the achievements for, but no ability to actually do, bar brawl. I can’t remember exactly which patch introduced that section of achievements under activities but it wasn’t originally in the game at launch and costume brawl certainly didn’t replace it.
Each new patch I keep thinking that this one must be where they finally add in Bar Brawl so that block of achievements isn’t just a tease, and each new patch it’s revealed to still be a tease, heh.
Costume Brawl was in @ Halloween. Bar Brawl achievements were added at the time they introduced the Wintersday content. To clarify, Bar Brawl as well as some 25+ activities that were (presumably) planned to be permanent additions to the game were shelved indefinitely. Stuff like Mini Pet Battles and Charr Steam-Car Arenas. You can find more about that in the link on my sig. So no, costume brawl was not replacing it when they put it in.
Also, still a big fan of Keg Brawl here. (Even if it is infested with lobbers and people who have no interest in the actual game and just go and farm for the title. :c)
And I’m looking forward to this crab toss mini game. I’ve added it to the thread in my sig also.

“To keep their minds off their troubles, the settlers on Southsun Cove have created a rugged new beach game: Crab Toss! In this instanced mini-game, players try to score points by capturing a hermit crab and withstanding karka attacks. It’s fun in the sun, Southsun-style!”
Yeah, I just saw that! Sounds awesome. Maybe this is a sign that they’ll start putting in more of the mini games if they can get adequate support for this stuff?
We have:
- keg brawl
- costume brawlI think that’s it…
I think, the horrible “chess” like golem thing you can play in Metrica Province, at the first heart, is also considered to be a mini game…
Eh, hardly. ;c
Just wanna say, I love this thread.
Ty for abandoning us on reset night [Agg]…sorry you had a few problems with ques, but we branded fight for the server, not our own personal reputation…..
I think you may have found the wrong home
That’s a pretty terrible thing to say… I mean, it’s reset night – every bl likely has a queue – if they decide to do something else because they can’t get in… then they can’t get in … Why call them out like this? =\
they the only guild that had que trubbles, or they the only guild that shut down because of it?
DB is a server of warriors, not hollywood hero’s….we may not all be 6 to 0 gvg champs, but we fight for what we built, and not for what we are “photographed” building…
invite attention all you want, Eve, whether to weaken our presence or not….[Agg] is poor showing of spirit…..less than 2 weeks in, and it’s already obvious….gl on whatever stage you choose next [Agg]
Maybe they would rather be playing and having fun together as a guild instead of being split up for hours and hours by queues? Just a thought.
I’m thinking about trying to set up an actual game of Costume brawl… like, have actual team set ups and game types. Like, Pigs vs Candy Corn knockout eliminating or something, lol
We have:
- keg brawl
- costume brawlI think that’s it…
And costume brawl doesn’t count, lol. Siiigghhh.
Disconnects… so many :c
BT has gone CAREBEAR for this score update!!
Was more fun than WvW has been since the AC patch, lol.
BT=Bear Team
Only thing that would have been better is if it didn’t bug out and actually gave the other 3/4 of our guild their commendation :/
We don’t need no odd numbers, yo
BT has gone CAREBEAR for this score update!!
Was more fun than WvW has been since the AC patch, lol.
:( I’m a sad, sad panda.
LOL. We just had what amounted to an arrow-cart battle with BT in TCBL Bay.
Those things are SOOOO OP now. We had like 15-20 ACs and BT killed them all..With ACs.
BT pushed the Lord Room…and built ACs inside.
Oh mai ANet. What have you done to our game…
I wanted to ragequit after we lost it…and then I realized just how ridiculous and funny it was. xD
Was painfully boring, and I really hope they don’t encourage these arrow cart wars any further. :/
Scroll function for character selection; I’m only suggesting because my mouse has been acting up lately with double clicking and such. But still, it would save anyone who has the misfortune to legitimately double click their character by accident the frustrating troubles of a loading screen.
Well have you gotten every type of armor skin in the game as is? There are a lot of armor sets in the game that are not apart of the gem store at all and not apart of the gold system at all. Most of what has been added in is weapons the back items are the odd balls but even they are non major look items.
Pretty much all of the exotic armor feels too standard to me, because none of them take an extravagant amount of work to acquire. It’s more of a “I think I’ll choose this armor because it’s unique” (which is bad when there’s very few armor sets) as opposed to “This awesome looking armor takes a lot of work to acquire. I’ll get it to show how hard I busted my kitten for this cool piece of gear” (Fractal backpiece, minus the Ascended stats on it.)
That’s how GW1 was. Having full Obsidian armor or chaos gloves, or destroyer weapons/torment weapons means you dropped a lot of plat on something that doesn’t change your character at all gameplay wise. You got to show off being so baller yolo moneystackz that plebs would fall to their knees kissing your feet.
IIRC originally Anet said there would be no max level, then changed their minds w/ a lukewarm we’ll revisit this in the future.
Also, if they do raise the cap and you rage quit can I have your stuffs? (I think I’m in first)
Zet
It was also talking about a clear plateau of power when they mentioned that. Raising the actual power cap with each expansion is much different, and much worse of an idea.
Now that they added custom Arenas for PvP, they might extend it to Keg Brawl. As well as spectator mode too? That would be awesome, yo.
Lvl cap will be increased ,probably with DLC . Are you serious ? Game must evolve , they will add better gear etc. People right now are complaining about end-game and you don`t want to improve it . You don`t want new gear because you got exotic set and you don`t want to waste time getting new gear , please don`t make me laugh .
The game can evolve without just increasing numbers… they can add new maps, new monsters, new stories, new lore, more armor, more weapons, more achievements more fun, and never have to increase the level cap.
The only things that objectively come out of raising the level cap is that there’s a bigger barrier to entry for some content, i.e. gated content. By raising the gear ceiling, you’re effectively making the efforts of players who worked however hard they did to get the first one totally obsolete. Why would anyone want the above just because of an arbitrary change of numbers…?
Any fans of Keg Brawl have any keg themed armor ideas? I’m not creative enough to think of something more than just a keg for a hat, lol. And how do you think they would be rewarded? Like, would you just get tokens? :o
But I did manage to make my mesmer, whom I play the majority of Keg Brawl with, look pretty uhh… keg brawl.. ish.
Hehe, I pray for the day that they do this. Being the leader of a Keg Brawl guild, I’m far too interested in being able to set up matches and tournaments for the players in it, it’s really difficult though when you can hardly expect to get into the same game together even.
Also, it would be amazing if, whenever they decide to add guild halls, you can get your own Keg Brawl arena there too -dreamy eyed-
Hehe, if you read my sig, you can find out how much I love Keg Brawl so I definitely support the message in the OP.
It would be awesome if they could give unique Hoelbrak/Keg themed character skins for excelling at Keg Brawl, as was intended for activities in general. Still waiting for when that happens! ^^
It would make sense that the 80s legendaries would be different than level 100 legendaries because there will obviously be newer and harder to get mats.
I’m not sure if most of you guys only played GW1 and never played a mmorpg before but you have to realize that stuff goes obsolete in mmorpgs.
Why? Please explain to me carefully why we need to realize that… because all that sounds like to me is a terribly designed game.
I truly do not like the idea of raising the level cap. As others have said, it would be in blatant disregard for a large majority of the GW1 fanbase.
There’s an arena in the black citadel where charr go to blow some steam by whacking each other senseless, would be an interesting location for some mini game, or maybe even for dueling in the future.
It would actually be awesome if that was a non-instanced way to set up duels. Or even, as someone before suggested, just have a free for all brawl.
Sorry re: NW tower in TCBL. I keep bugging through the door.
I wasn’t there when this happened, but I saw a few from our server bug through it as well, I guess it’s been happening since last patch. That tower seems to have buggy doors. Hopefully Anet fixes it sooner, and thanks for coming on forums to clear it up.
I’ve done so as well by accident >< I thought I was the only one, glad this is not just me so hopefully it’ll get fixed soon.
Alright, this thread isn’t off topic enough, who wants to organize a Keg Brawl event, yo?
I would absolutely love to see more of these mini games implemented. I tried keg brawl once but it just wasn’t my thing, more options would be great. Especially the mini pet arena. That sounds like loads of fun.
Hehe, this is exactly why they need to get going on this! It allows a ton of different types of ways to change up the pace, gives you more options to enjoy yourself, plus, if they start adding aesthetic rewards, there’ll be a ton of awesome unique looking characters!
Honestly, they really do need to work on creating more horizontal progression. It sounds like the OP could use more prestigious gear (look-wise) which may actually appeal to his preference and might be somewhere in between Exotic and Legendary amount of effort. Sort of like the really expensive named exotic weapons like Volcanus, but more, because there’s only like 2 of those per weapon. x.x
I always figured there had to be more to that lady in Divinity’s Reach asking for bouncers for the Flagon…
Yup! I can’t wait, honestly x.x
I want to be a bouncer! On an asura… elementalist. With a stick!
Oh man, Asura Guardian bouncer… so win.
I agree with the OP. While I have 5 level 80’s, a level 50, and a 30, it’s just a chore. For players, like myself, who don’t gain arbitrary satisfaction from a simple increasing in numbers and tend to focus exclusively on the game play aspect, yeah, it very much is. I can get by where the OP can’t because I try and substitute any boredom from playing the lower level areas by focusing on trying to find people to pal around with and make friends. For some people, that won’t cut it. I can make due. But his point is still very valid.
It’s nothing but gated content. Please try to understand, a lot of GW1 players likely enjoyed more the fact that it was very easy to get to max level (20), because the entire game was pretty much balanced around being maxed level. It was a lot of horizontal progression from there, and a lot of skill was involved. (Y’know, up until gimmicky hero builds, lol) It was purely game play, there was never any increase in tiers of gear. Progression came from the acquisition of skills and the breaking down of some rare items found to get specific upgrades, runes, that further enhance your build (Similar to how runes are in GW2, except no global trading post, everyone sold them in Spamadan instead). So to be told “Yeah, you can’t go here because you don’t have higher enough numbers” is a pretty annoying hearken to past MMO formulas. Which is fine, again, to me to some degree, because the leveling is pretty easy in this game. But there’s a point to be made that if you don’t get that strange satisfaction just from… going from 32 to 33?… Then I mean, it’s obviously not catering to you in a way that you’d like and he’s entitled to express that opinion.
Furthermore, he’s again correct in noting that they did Orr far better, content wise, than any of the other zones, as far as dynamic events are concerned. And I won’t argue about the perceived significance of DE’s because it’s fact that they’re supposed to be the main content of PvE. You might not like the area aesthetic, or maybe you don’t like the mobs. But it has by far and away the most challenging, and most diversified array of DE’s and Meta Events in the game.
I always figured there had to be more to that lady in Divinity’s Reach asking for bouncers for the Flagon…
Yup! I can’t wait, honestly x.x
There’s actually a heart task in Diessa Plateau that’s a whack-a-mole mini game, and you can keep playing even after you fill the heart. There’s also a sniper mini-game out in Iron Marches. In fact there are quite a few mini games spread throughout the world, they just don’t give any prizes and aren’t ‘officially’ labeled mini-games.
While those are awesome, they’re not classified as the activities that were supposed to be in at launch. But thanks for telling me about these.
The mini games from the lost-29 are to take place specifically in the capital cities. About 5 for each. 6 capital cities. 5×6
OH PLEASE YES EVERYTHING THAT’S UP THERE^
I keep forgetting about how much this frustrates me until it does it again x.x
Go to the area of the game you enjoy playing, for example, a PvE zone near significant dynamic events or maybe WvW or SPvP in order to increase your chances of finding a guild that caters to your playstyle. Or you can browse the forums to find said guild.
Ask for an invite and you may or may not get admitted as a member. be sociable and enjoy yourself. Make friends. Also, hookers and blow.
Play keg brawl. it’s the greatest thing next to hookers and blow.
No…? I don’t see the benefit in starting a new character, you still have a ways to go to finish learning that class anyway, so you might as well level him. Otherwise, starting a new character/class is completely up to you.
There’s nothing inherent in any changes made that would make creating a new character more profitable in some way than just keeping on with your Warrior. Enjoy yourself, yo.
Bumping because, yeah.
Honestly, it would be awesome to have certain parts of the game allow a mounted combat interface. Similar to swimming, it would have it’s own weapon equip selection and list of usable utilities but would allow awesome new effects. And maybe your normally class specific ability between f1-4 would actually be a mount specific ability or set thereof.
So, say, a set of polearms like spear, halberd, greataxe, lance, or staff could be the new weapons, and maybe include different scepter/pistol skills for these as well would be awesome, and the movement speed is defaulted at 50% faster than normal run speed for a much faster fighting environment. I can see there being a mini game or maybe arena type deal in the game that had this sort of thing. Possible mounts would include Dolyaks, Devourers, Snow Beasts, Moas, Asura Golems, etc.
I just never liked the idea of mounts as vanity items or faster movement speed. They make the world look small and are obnoxious when just used because they look cool. They’re very obstructing usually, and neat at best.
Mmm, you should start advertising the dungeon as full zerk only + ping gear. Run it in blue Carrion gear, lol
The real problem is dungeon design. As long as max dps is the solution, then groups will doing gear checks like this.
I’m in mild agreement with this statement, yo.
However, I’m not a spectacularly versed dungeon player of any MMO’s really, so I don’t know what a “good” dungeon mechanic/system would look like using GW2’s combat. I really don’t want to see pigeon holing through holy trinity though, no thank you.
Personally, it doesn’t make the game any more or less fun than it otherwise would be. “The whole game is end game” mindset applies here, and mostly has everything to do with the scaled down mechanic, which effectively makes content relevant to you no matter how far you go past it in level.
I’m honestly not a fan of vertical progression at all; it’s why I liked GW1 so much. But GW2’s leveling is so easy, and you can get through all of it if you have the gold anyway through crafting, that it’s a non-factor to me. Not a huge fan of artificial power and content gating, so I tend to avoid that type of content in game. (Note: I have 2200 hours and many sets of exotics, but zero ascended gear pieces.)
So, honestly, the content is what’s most fun to me when doing PvE and I can go back and experience that as I would if I were leveling there anyway. Even if I can rip through normal mobs, there’s still veterans or champions I can challenge my skill, patience, and builds on as well as the ever-painful Orr zones. -shrug-
Go ahead and waste time pinging your zerk from bags, you’ll be detected for having lacking dps (@4acolytes or 4 braziers) and will get kicked eventually (deservedly so too). Don’t join if you don’t conform. Go make your own MF party lol, enjoy waiting staring at your gw2lfg post.
The more dps the party outputs, the faster bosses melt, the less chance players have to go down and drag the run. What’s so hard for you to understand that? If you don’t want to join a 5min p1 run party or w/e, then don’t complain and join a normal p1 party.
All I’m seeing is OP asking for kitten and paying with fake bills and complaining he needs real bills to get his fun…
Lol you took OP’s post too seriously. I doubt he plans on going again with those kinds of groups. He even stated that he is going to troll them the next time he sees it.
Shush you. GW2 dungeons are srs bsn
That first part is actually incorrect
I stand corrected. It was probably my wishful thinking that gave the Charr capital its own minigame.
They do have one: Circus Charricus, and from the sounds of it, CONSIDERABLY cooler than Bar Brawl, lol.
Charr Battle Car Arena Racing anyone? Go check out the NPC by the car @ the War Wagon prep deck in the Black Citadel
(edited by Serelisk.6573)
Agreed, I’d like to see notable players like Unseen Clash and Sain atop the charts as officers of Brawl Capital [PUNT]! However, before there’s any truly competitive aspect like this, they need to hammer down on Keg brawl and how it’s supposed to be played, as well as iron out bugs such as moving when trying to grab the keg.
Right now, the prevalence of lobbing is an active discouragement from Keg Brawl since it makes entire portions of the game irrelevant. Only if there’s two full teams of high caliber players can lobbing be even semi-tolerable, but honestly, being able to score from the other end of the arena with near-infallibility is just dumb. :P
I’m mainly only hoping that titles/ranks, leader boards and unique skins are the rewards for doing Keg Brawl. There’s no need to muddy up the play-for-fun essence with actual game rewards such as karma or copper.
Maybe with any of the activities they release, however, some gambling can be a part of the observer crowd? That seems really easy to mess with though, lol.
What I’ve sort of dreamed of was, if we can get a guild hall, being able to buy your own Keg brawl arena for it!… -dreams-
