Honestly, does it really matter?
If you like WoW, then play WoW.
If you like GW2 then play GW2.

They’re a necessary gold sink.

How so?
I failed my economics 101, care to explain why it’s necessary to keep it?
Is everyone making a fortune if we take out the waypoint costs?

Because you can trade real money for gems, gems for gold and gold for gems.

The value of gold needs to remain high in order for the gems to have any value.

If people have endless amounts of gold then the trade value of gems will plummet and screw up all the gem store values.

By having the large money sinks, gold remains valuable and keeps the gold/gem economy stable.

I find this logical.

To put a finer point on this, look at what happened to Spain when they had a massive influx of gold.
It’s economy crumbled and has taken centuries to recover to the point it’s currently arrived.
In other words, too much gold causes devaluation causes weakened economy causes economic collapse.

But, there is nothing to say that the prices cannot be lowered a bit for regular use as opposed to resurrection use.
After all, the wages of life after death should hurt a bit.

Guilds are going to turn into just another attraction

I fail to understand the point of joining multiple guilds.
Kind of defeats the point imo.

Personally this is how I feel about it, …

I guess that’s why I’m one of those random “lone wolves” that heals or revives someone that wanders off to kill some more.

Why is it spelled "Zhaitan" when it is pronounced "Zaitan"

I love how the assumption from the first few posters is that the name is of “chinese” origin.

It’s not an absurd assumption. “Zhaitan” seems to be the transliteration of valid Chinese phonemes.

I said I love the assumption, I never said it was absurd.

The way everyone pronounces jotun has also been bothering me.

You expected it to be “yotun”?

Yes, because it’s supposed to be pronounced “yotun”.

Weapon swapping conundrum.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The problem with giving elementalists weapon swap is that they’d have access to more skills than ALL other classes. They’d have 40 skills from weapons alone if they could weapon swap while other classes only have access to 10 weapon skills with weapon swap (not counting underwater weapons or utilities). I think the better solution would be giving more support via utilities or change how some of the other skills work to better provide support. To be honest my biggest issue with elementalists isn’t the lack of weapon swap, but really the lack of using any other attunement. I feel like I spend 95% of my time in fire because it does the best damage and has good control options. There is very little reason for me to consider using the other attunments everything else feels lackluster. I only switch to water to apply my healing abilities every once in awhile. I also think we could use some better utilities.

The funny part is, I spend most of my time (with a scepter and dagger) in Earth for the big damage it does and I’ll jump to fire for the damage spikes.

As for having access to more skills, well that does stand to reason.
It only makes sense, to me anyway, that a class that is pure magic use would have that kind of access to that many skills but the trade off is we tend towards being squishy (with which I have no issue, btw).
In all honesty, why I will admit that Ele’s can be powerhouses under certain circumstances, they do seem to have a great deal more party support skills and should be allowed access to the with weapons swaps.

Weapon swapping conundrum.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ShadowGryphon.6257

Let me preface this by saying this is NOT a butthurt post, just an observation and request.

As the title indicates this is about weapon swapping, more specifically why Ele’s cannot swap.
(bear with me there is a point to this)

The observation: Daggers are melee weapons, scepters are mid-range and staves are long-range.
This being the case I fail to perceive why Ele’s cannot swap weapons.
In a large fight (multiple players vs. mobs), working with a staff is advantageous in that it allows the Ele to provide support, healing, and heavy damage.
The problem is, one cannot change weapons from inv. during combat and the best (imho) healing support skill , healing rain, is attached to the staff.
The problem is, I’d have to have incredible foresight to know that I’ll need my staff going in to a fight.

Now, I know that some might point out the fact that we Ele’s can switch elements at will, and you might presenting the same arguments that I factored in before writing this.
But, what is the point of having multiple weapons and the accompanying skills if we can’t access them with weapon swap like the other classes can?
with the exception of Engineers, of course.

So, I’d like to request that Ele’s be given weapon swap.

I’d love to see some feedback on this and get some views for or against.

Thanks,
Gryph.

Just don’t type the bad words in chat. Why is that so difficult?

Well, when you take into account the fact that we can turn on and off the chat filters, there should be NO consequence for the use of “foul” language.

I shouldn’t have to worry about being penalized because Anet can’t seem to back up it’s own game tools.

Don’t want to see anything objectionable? turn on the chat filters.
