DL didn’t die. Yes, some guilds left (and certain elements within these guilds think they were the only ones to carry our server and the only ones who knew, how things should be organized), but the rest is rallying the remaining troops and we are holding our ground.
DL has always been a server with a strong evening and weekend playerbase, due to Real Life issues (work, school, summer, etc.). We will reorganize, regroup and then fight back

We will have an announcement about the NA leagues and seasons generally soon. But there are changes coming in.

Could we get an ETA on this announcement? So much suspense!

Probably Thursday, but I can’t be 100% sure as we need to get translations and editing done before it can go live.

Was there an announcement i missed, or still no word yet?

We shouldn’t have to transfer, Anet should quit screwing up and think before they do stupid kitten like this. This dumb stupid patch and all the stupid patches before it could all have been avoided easily, and Anet needs to MAKE their Devs play the area of the game that they are working in, those Devs should have regular characters without Anet logos, in regular guilds and they should get to know the community and play with the community, then maybe they would know what the community wants. But by making a simple forum post with questions on it that players could answer and tell developers what they want in that area of the game from a selection then they could avoid all this stupid nonsense.

not that there are some 50+ threads on this forum, detailling how anet could improve wvw.
i play on drakkar lake (EU, place 18) and even on our tier a 30vs30 fight results in lags, even more after this abomination of a patch

Utterly unplayable skill lag in WvW

first, transfering down isn’t a solution, i play on drakkar lake and even we are victims of skill lags. Example yesterday evening in our garrison, a fight between 50 gunnars vs 50 of us. i didn’t even get trough to skill 1, even moving was frame by frame. and then i was death.
second, skill lags increased (even in WvW) since they disabled culling in pve (lags in LA, wtf??)

i think every server has their runners and their fighters. some people from our guild had runins with the shadows, they are good. so it’s unfair to paint everyone with the same brush.
to the point of low morale, this may be, but as i experienced yesterday around 11pm it is somewhat annoying to try to cap camps with a partner on our own homelands and getting ransacked everytime by a 30+ baruchzerg, knowing that there are 50 more pounding on the door of a tower.
so yeah, morale may not be at an alltime high, but whoes would at these circumstances.

don’t you people see the ingenuity of A-Net?? players from all the servers not in the top three will buy gems to transfer to where there are prizes. This generates revenue. this will make all the other servers obsolete and a-net can deactivate these servers and save costs. Killing two birds with one stone!!

The mats will absolutely drop in WvW. In addition, generally speaking, we are putting a heavier emphasis on finding long-term solutions to redressing the reward imbalance between PvE and WvW. I can’t claim they will ever be 100% equal all the time, but we would like it to never be the case that you are choosing between playing WvW and getting good rewards. The two should be one in the same.

I can get 3-5g per hour in pve (Clockwork Chaos), OR I can get 3-5g per night (~4hrs) playing wvw. You have a long way to go.

not to mention, 3-5g per evening is when you are able to run with the zerg, there is opposition and you take some towers, keeps etc., and you don’t upgrade anything. A very long way to go indeed

Again some nice fighting yesterday, i really like gunnars, they are so fierce warriors. Had an epic battle on EB at aldons in the late afternoon. and in the evening we tried something with our guild, but had to open the raid to the public. and then “hell hath no FURY”. we tried to avoid you, after 2 wipes in hills, for our public players sake, and moved to AS homelands, but you got us even there. I look forward to meet you again when we are with our guildalliance raid.

Make you laugh? Why would you laugh at the truth? It’s all you are, a blob! Without your high numbers, the players I’ve met have been aweful. I apologise if this in some way offends you, but you can hardly deny that you’ve been blobbing. I’m quite sure both the servers playing against you, will agree with me.

i had great respect for gunnars from our last matchup, and was eager to face them again. But posts like this, filled with heatred and misconception makes me doubt. during the night you proved yourself wrong, when you nightcapped everything. no 24/7 blobbing.

how do you feel about my generalisation of your whole server, potato? now go and read some posts from other match ups, it’s always the same old song, the underdog complains about blobbing and no class, and when the same server faces a weaker server they fiercly defend their numbers.

i’m really glad, when this match up is over, this constant flamewar over different playstyle, as entertaining as this tale is to read, it starts to annoy.

to the tup guys complaining here since last friday, why didn’t you took the week of and enjoyed real life with barbecue and beer?

complaining here won’t change anything. and for the record, during the time i played this matchup (not so much, cause beer and barbecue) the amount of big zergs running around are equaly distributed between AG and RS.

and yeah we on DL also run around in zergs, so what.

it’s friday, and it wasn’t the clear cut matchup we expected. AG and DL still is a close call. and Miller wasn’t so dominating as i remember them. Was also nice to have a different server (Aurora) with us, fresh tactics and guilds to fight.

at drakkar the problem is, that on DL homelands, with lots of players not in TS3 it’s very complicated to split our zergs, and to find an additional commander is a real pain. it’s not that we don’t want, it’s more often that we cant split.
it’s also hard to see myself die in myas vid, multiple times :-(

as far as i know, guilds like dsv, dss, dsun, and others play often alone. and that they can play together, they have to leave our DL homelands, cause between 18 and 23 central european time, we mostly have a queue. on homelands, there are the small guilds, single roamers and a whole lot (+/- 70%) of randomplayers, a lot of them not in TS3 and simply following around the commander.
and i’ve a hard time believing, you on AG haven’t got some similar problems on your homelands.
So if you want to see some single guild roaming around, you shouln’t come to our BL.

Had a nice evening with our guild alliance on aurora HL. Lots of bags, some nice open field fights. got a bit sandwiched outside of hills between aurora and mya. But one can always learn, even in death.

yeah, it’s always funny to see flamerams at odd places. But be honest, on your server there aren’t people, who, in the heat of battle, put the wrong blueprint down? even more so, in the early hours of the day, or after hours of playing?

on an other note, what were you guys from AG doing yesterday evening at sunnyhill? we destroyed your siege, then you went on for half an our or so to run arround in circles, doing nothing.

finally not the same opponents as the 2 (or 3) weeks before. and what do we get?? Millers, who we had for a month or so, what a letdown.

Happy though, to have aurora glade. never fought them till now. Already had some nice fights against them. and don’t forget, there aren’t only germans on this servers, there are also nice countries where german is spoken.

and grats to the little asura messmer from TUP, man you can play, we had a hard time to kill you with our groups and you came straight back for more.

Yesterday i was able to play a bit more, and this siege bug sucks big time. The following situation:
UW held redlake, a minimum of 5 ac’s build in the tower. after some trebing and two atemps, we are finally able to cap that tower. now, we want to place some AC’s for defence. “unable to place siege”. 10 minutes pass, they return with that godawfull commander event, they open the tower but get repelled “manually” by our forces. 10 minutes later the same bullkitten again, and we still can’t build anything. they cap the tower. after a while we try to take the tower back, but there are masses of ac’s built inside. wtf.

i haven’t a problem when we all can’t build siege, some open field combat is refreshing. But, we can’t build but the opponents can build in the same spot, it’s just unfair. If nobody could build siege, it would be ok, but not if some servers are able to and some are not.

SO FIX IT, FAST!!

i understand you, would even second this in view of more open field battles but:

on some maps you can build siege on some you don’t
some siege can be built (golems)

therefore

as long as not all players are affected in the same manner, it must be fixed

to all the people here complaining about our (DL) superior numbers, please present some proof. and two or three weeks ago, every morning befor i went to work (around 6.30am CET) most of the maps where capped by uw during the night. nowadays when we seem to have more people playing during the night you are complaining.
As someone said in this thread, as long as you do it, might it be nightcapping, golem rushes, etc., everything is ok, but when the opponent does it, it’s condemnable.
Thanks to the levelheaded people posting in this thread, and we will clash again for a week.

How does it make a zerg split up? When it takes LESS people to defend than it does to attack how do you really think smaller groups will be able to cap anything? I mean really…

I don’t think he meant to split up and attack different objectives. Getting a tower (and especially a keep) should be a coordinated and group activity. Zerg could split into few groups and attack from different directions. Once one wall is down, each group would wait for other teams to knock down more walls, and only then simultaneously overwhelm defenders (as opposed to current “huzzah, wall down, rush to the lord” behaviour*).

But that requires planing, organisation, and time. Previous WvW was SO easy (chu chu, karma train on the way). Well, times change and so will Commanders adapt. They will have to plan in advance, identify objectives, and assign roles (as opposed to current “build treb on me”, “push now”).

A lot of people complain about having nothing to do for small teams. Small team shouldn’t be able to capture defended towers (unless they use surprise or defenders are bad). I’d envision small teams to focus on capturing depots (why you need 30+ people to flip a depot? waste of manpower), securing them, disturbing enemy dolyaks, or just roaming (disturbing enemy activity). Once the main team starts bleeding a tower / keep dry enemies will leave their keeps and towers. They will know they need depots and dolyak routes running, otherwise they will lose this fortification. With this system, the successful capture is dependant on such small teams doing their job. You get small scale fight while helping taking a larger objective. Win-win for me.

from what i can gather, this is what we all want:
- no more zerging
- more tactics
- still have fun

in a perfect world he is right

BUT:
there are timeconstraints. How long till a fully reinforced Garrison is empty? what when servers play on different times?
how to motivate the people to tag along 24/7? this doesn’t give as much WXP as the old meta of destroy everything and take it back.

to all the people telling about adaption, etc. What is the answer to all these well placed ac? You have to treb everything.

now on the other hand, imagine you have a job, which allows you to play an average 4 hours a day to play, mostly during the same timeframe every day, mostly primetime on your server, when you and your opponents field the most players. when the scouts are most alert, when there is a scout in every tower and every camp armed with ac’s.

it’s a game, games should be fun, and this coming siege war doesn’t sound like fun to me, as a casual but dedicated player

setting up 2 trebs, and taking out the defensive siege takes no more than 20 minutes. at most. from there, there’s no defensive siege for the defenders to use. since you’ve starved them out of supplies, they can’t build more. sure, they can port to another map and pick up more, buuuuuuuut that doesn’t really give them an easy way back. and it leaves them shorthanded during those loading screens. plenty of time to drop 3 superior rams and shred the gate. if they stand their ground, then it’s a straight up large scale PvP fight.

if it takes you more than a half hour to attack a tower, even a tier 3 tower, there are better ways to go about it than whatever you’re trying. and if that place is wooden, it shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes, tops. doing the math, and assuming it takes you the full half hour to take each structure, at 4 hours of play time, that means you can take 8 towers during your play time. double the time frame for keeps, so you can take 4 keeps during your playtime, which is 1 more than are on any map. so you can break that extra one down into 2 towers. which means that your group can take almost an entire borderland during your timeframe. if you have multiple groups running around to hit the camps and the other two towers, that’s the whole borderland there. if you’ve spent that entire time attacking the same target, then a change in strategy is in order.

now let me explain where my fears come from. i play in t6 eu, the same opponents for 5 weeks now. mostly i stand guard on our homelands, during our peak time between 18.00 and 22.00. during this time our players consist of some small Guildgroups, lonely skirmishers, the people who know the place and how to defend it and are listening to TS commands. and a lot of random players doing their thing and halfwillingly following a commander symbol. in short it’s the only time we are able to generate a queue on our homelands. our opponents field mostly guild groups of 20+ or raids of allianced guilds (zergs up to 50). on a good day we were able to defend our homelands, on a slower day only the upper halve. then one of our opponents has a strong nightcapping precence and takes over all our structures. not all of them are fully t3 the next day, or worse, still belong to the enemy and are fortified.
Does your timetable still works? when not, then you see my fears?

What people don’t understand is that it is BORING trebbing/dealing with counter trebs for 5 hours to TRY and find a fight inside a keep or something.. people want to fight CHARACTERS not siege all the time..

Yes, it’s anti zerg and it’s more interessting from a tactitians point of view.

BUT: a lot of people have limited gametime (me 3h/day). in this time we want some epic battles (even siege warfare), but we also want to split some skulls and take some structures, ergo FUN

to all the people telling about adaption, etc. What is the answer to all these well placed ac? You have to treb everything.

now on the other hand, imagine you have a job, which allows you to play an average 4 hours a day to play, mostly during the same timeframe every day, mostly primetime on your server, when you and your opponents field the most players. when the scouts are most alert, when there is a scout in every tower and every camp armed with ac’s.

it’s a game, games should be fun, and this coming siege war doesn’t sound like fun to me, as a casual but dedicated player

good ideas in the OP, i really would like to see this implemented.

my only question to Aneu is:
how this will affect lower tier servers (i’m on Drakkar Lake)? i see a problem, when it comes to the manpower a server can field. We normaly have no problem during primetime (19.00 – 22.30 CET) but during the night, early morning we regularly fall prey to nightcapping.

Is there a chance, this suggestions are translated in german, cause i think there would be also a lot of people with opinions?

@naphack: i’m a fellow DL player, so for me it’s not a problem if UW isn’t nightcapping.
and it’s getting old, when you can set your clock once some action takes place. it’s 22.00 commander event in southeast tower, then supplycamps south and north from hills, and then they go for everything that’s t1.
in all this matchup i rarely see more than a few underworld players during my playtime (18-23 CET). an uw zerg is a rare sighting, now more than ever.

yeah, this is getting really old, 5 weeks in a row.

but underworld seems to hold back a bit, even their nightcapping isn’t as succsessfull as it was the previous weeks.

From personal experience i can tell you, that these times are inaccurate. A Guildmate and I built a catapult, a ballista and an arrowcart in Cliffside (northeast Tower) and we continued to the northern camp to speed up the dolly for our tower. they walk slow, really slow, but you don’t have 30 minutes down from there. When we got back, all our siege was despawned.
and a-net never gave an official opinion and probably never will, so touch your siege as often as you can, otherwise it’s gone

first of all, my sincerest respect for all the players in wvw on vabbi and FoW.

atm someone from our server (drakkar lake) is visiting on vabbi and reporting back his experiences. there are some dedicated people on this server.
for me personally it’s good to hear their statements and the problems on this server to put my problems in a higher tier in perspectiv. we complain about queues on the homelands, although they exist only during 2 hours on primetime. after 4 weeks of the same matchup, the matches and wvw in general seems stale. there are complaints about the people, who don’t join our TS, even if we have 30+ people in every channel.

when i hear the stories of our visitor on your server or when i read this thread, i’m reminded, that there is nothing i should complain about.

on the topic of changing the server, in my opinion you choose a server and you stick with it. a) because you have your connections (friendslist, guild,etc.) on that server and b) because loyality is a good thing even in our day and age.
