Would you go warrior (LB/S+Sh) or Staff Ele?

Need some advice.. on which class to play.. I prefer to play support-ish builds/roles and I generally prefer ranged characters.

I also prefer WvW/PvPt to PvE but I’d like a class that can do both

Even though I’m on Blackgate which is one of the more heavily populated servers, I had no problem joining the train and doing the champs. If you want to do champs, you do need to be part of the train.. but for the most part I don’t see a problem with that. In fact, people were very helpful when I didn’t know the spawn order. But like other people said, there are a lot of other starting zones if you’re unhappy in Queensdale.

I was wondering if a low level can get the new weapons/weapon skins as drops off champions?

I am running with the farm-train that goes through Queensdale and I’m just curious if I have a chance at these beautiful new skins and stuffs.

Well.. I’d say warrior or ranger are fairrrly straight forward, because they’re similar to classes in other games. If you want to be a melee bruiser type character, warrior is good for that; and their ranged weapon options are also pretty good. Ranger is basically just a hunter/whatever from any other game you’ve played.

I am really enjoying this event! Not sure why the game isn’t holding your interest anymore, but I mean, it’s fine if you don’t play for awhile. That’s the beauty of a game without a sub, if you aren’t enjoying the current content you can stop and come back later :P

Like I said in the title, I was just curious :P Not out to stereotype people, just saying what I’ve observed -personally-. Anywho, I met a really funny woman who played a giant norn man with a curly mustache :P So I understand that women and men play all sorts of characters.

I am having this same dilemma.. ;-;

I like the confusion factor that clones bring but I miss the speedyness and easy tagging in WvW of my necro. (PLUS flesh golems are cute)

Yeah I think I’m down to Necro or Guard now.. Ele just seems a bit too.. clunky for me personally. Thank you for your input guys <3

I am looking for a guild for my boyfriend and I on Blackgate that does a little bit of everything. We’re somewhat new to the game in that we have only been playing for one month, but we tend to play a lot of hours (yay only one class in summer!).

I am hoping to find a guild that is somewhere between casual and hardcore. We both like to be silly and get to know our fellow guildies, but we can be serious when it comes time to get things done. We really enjoy WvW and we’d like to do more with dungeons and fractals, so an all around guild would probably be the best fit.

We’re in the Pacific Time Zone but our sleep hours a bit wonky so we could probably fit wherever :P

My boyfriend plays a scepter/dagger Ele as his main and.. I’m.. still working out what I want to main.

I see so many guardians in WvW, I’m starting to wonder if I should bother playing a Necro or Ele :P

Prefer playing Necro or having one in your group with you? :o I feel like I have to work much harder to support on my Ele than I do just spreading conditions and things on my Necro.. so I am wondering if it’s worth it :P

Have a necro or an ele in WvW? I am torn because I feel like the condition damage/spreading Necros do is really important, but I know that staff eles bring a lot of condition removal/healing to the table..

Sounds like I am definitely not the only one with class selection issues :P I guess it’s just as well, since a lot of the achievements seem to require that you play multiple classes. I think for now I’ll work on my Guardian. I really like the culture 3 armor for humans, but I almostttt want to go asura for the amazing dodge animation. THEM DECISIONS YO!

P.s. I really like hearing about everyone’s characters and rationales for particular class/gender/race combos! Thanks for sharing!

When it comes to picking a class, I say try them all. Make one, play it to like level 5 or 10, make the next one play it for 5 or 10 levels, and so on, until you find one you connect with. (fricking filter, imma smack whoever manages it)

What type of play style do you like? Up close and personal? Mid range with some close quarters on occasion? Or as far back as you can with prayers for no melee range?

Haha I guess the problem is that I don’t really know what I want… >.> I like a bit of everything. I really like healing in traditional MMOs.. but in lieu of that I like support classes. I guess there are just trade offs to every class. I also want a class I can bring to PvE, WvW, tPvP.. and feel.. useful >.>; I GUESS.. I have a lot of demands XP Anyways.. I sort of narrowed it down to Necro, Ele and Guardian. I would try engineer but the hobbo packs just turn me off >.>; Sorry.

Well.. I do have a few female friends who play rangers.. for the cute pets!

I guess I’m fairly stereotypical in that I usually prefer support specs/classes and I was tempted by the cute pets rangers have.. then I saw how bad pet AI was.. and… now I’m playing a Guardian.

It seems like most other female gamers I have met while playing this game, play light armor classes. So.. I was just wondering if that is a general trend among female players or if I just know a group of cloth-lovers :P

I know this is the Necro thread, but since you mentioned that all classes should be built around damage for dungeons.. I’m wondering if this is true for Guardian as well? I read that Guardians tend to have substandard DPS (just in general, maybe I’m wrong) and tend to be brought for their boons/utility. So.. should guardians lay down their stakitten and pick up more DPS oriented builds/weapons?

I’ve really enjoyed reading these threads. As someone who isn’t much of a number cruncher and has limited experience with all the classes, it’s nice to get some solid (mostly factual) information about each classes’ support abilities.

For WvW how do you feel about scepter/shield? Seems like the shield abilities could be fairly useful when you’re standing in the backlines scepter-ing people and buffing the zerg/group with staff abilities.

If I wasn’t so attached to the GS, what would you generally recommend as a secondary weapon set to staff?

More the second thing you mentioned. I definitely want to play support.. that is pretty much the reason I rolled Guardian, but I really enjoy the abilities on GS and the weapo skins (vain, I know).

Just wondering.. will I be able to use GS/staff effectively as my weapons in PvE and WvW? I understand that certain situations in PvE call for ranged and I’d have to switch to scepter.. but aside from those occasional moments where ranged is needed.. is using both of these viable?

I think it really depends in some cases whether you’re talking about PvP or PvE.. in some cases a class that is very difficult in PvP might be easy-ish in PvE…

Has anyone tried transmuting the back skin back off the white item and onto a new backpack? I heard that you can’t pull things off the white backpack strap, once you’ve put them on it. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I am a little confused about how transmuting items (specifically back items) works. I currently have the wind catcher skin bound to a soulbound backpack on one character, and I’d like to move it to a different character. Is there a way to do this? And if so would someone please explain how?

I’m looking for a build that leans more towards support (via banners/shouts/whatever)

I’m very new to warrior.. but I’m hoping to use a ranged weapon mainly with some sort of melee weapon as my swap. I’d also like the build to be viable for PvE and WvW..

So.. after going back and forth between Elementalist and Necro.. I’d love to see some Necro support builds. I’ve heard that Necros can provide good support to groups both in WvW and PvE but I am curious to see what the majority (or vocal minority :P) thinks.
