I feel like this has probably been asked a lot, but I couldn’t find any guides or post that occurred after the release of HoTs, so I feel like the direction might have someone changed.

I can’t decide which class to play innnnn sPvP. Both seem to have merits, the only thing that bothers me about bunker guard is their inability to do anything without a team to back them up. (I guess if they could, they’d be super broken)

Also kind of depends if you’re talking from a PVE or sPvP or WvW perspective.. the answers are a bit different.

In sPvP right now, Necromancers are very strong because of the general condition-y meta. They don’t usually (from what I’ve seen) go minionmancer, but instead go a straight up condi build. Ranger also seems to be in a pretty good place.. their damage has gotten boosted a bit and over all I’m seeing a lot more of them!

I was hoping that this ‘RPer’ only thread could maybe branch out and recognize that there are other communities that may have been separated as a result of the introduction of Megaservers. Maybe instead of making a clique-ish thread about the injustices done to RPers there could have just been a thread about breaking up gaming communities. However, since the RPers here want to toss around personal insults I’m going to hop on over to a different thread and make some dinner Tootles.

Yes how dare I believe that RPers should be treated just like any other player of GW2. The inhumanity. Maybe there needs to be a new thread for keeping communities of people together, instead of just RPers.

I am fine with as many personal insults as you’d like to throw at the rest of the community that isn’t one of your precious RPers. If you all want to hold hands and pat each other on the back over how wronged you have been and how you are the true reason that MMORPGs exist, then go ahead. It isn’t true, but if that is what this thread is for, then I’ll leave you to your hand holding.

I have played plenty of MMORPGs and participated in RP events and I haven’t seen this level of ‘poor us’ in a long time. I support everyone who said that they are in favor of keeping COMMUNITIES together.. of all sorts.. but not those who feel that RPers are the special children deserving of extra attention and catering too.

Then maybe instead of trying to plead with A-net for the sake of RPers you should plead with them for the sake of community as a whole. It just sounds very clique-ish when you act like RPers are the only ones (or even the majority group) affected by the server mergers or mega servers or whatever.

How kitten arrogant. You’re oblivious to what exactly this patch did to our community, aren’t you? The grounds on which we played this game were taken away from us and you’re comparing it to skill changes? Seriously?

You’re comparing our community being torn apart, being unable to play a certain way, to something that’s not even a slight inconvenience? How disgusting.

If anything you’re the one that is acting entitled to something that you really aren’t. If you can’t hold your community together without A-net modifying their game to fit your needs, then I don’t know what to tell you. Just because you can’t understand that everyone is adapting to things implemented with the advent of Megaservers and patch changes, doesn’t mean that they aren’t.

For WvW, I’d still probably go warrior. I just feel like you can help your group just fine and with like a rifle for zerging you won’t have to deal with ground targeted AOE placement as much. I feel like that would probably be really difficult especially if you’re moving with the mouse as well.

I definitely think that a tankier class like a warrior or guardian would be your best bet. They don’t require as much dodging, because they are more surviveable so the directional-dodging thing wouldn’t be as big an issue.

It also depends on what you want to do. For just leveling up, pretty much anything is fine as long as you keep your gear relatively up to date. I’d honestly probably chose warrior

Hello! I’m looking for a guild for myself and one other, preferably on Blackgate, but I’m open to other servers as well! I have played this game off and on a couple times since launch, but I’d like to find a guild and fun people to play with this time around – I think that is part of the reason I haven’t really stuck with this game in the past.

Thanks for the tips guys Still conflicted between a few classes, but I guess as long as you play well you can’t go wrong! Engi is pretty intimidating.. lots of buttons and lots to learn..

My boyfriend plays a d/d valk thief and I would probably play a condi p/d kite them thief.. I did consider Ele briefly but it seems like they just get nearly one-shot by good thieves in the opener.. I don’t know maybe my skills are just not up to par :P Anyways, thank you for the suggestions! It’s nice to hear what works for people.

I haven’t really been enjoying my mesmer as much recently :/ I know their stealth PU build is good butttt.. just can’t get into it for some reason. Sowwy x.x

I am half tempted to try and level a thief just because it is so far outside my comfort zone.. maybe I’d fall in love.. or something. Never really melee’d in a game, so it’d be an adventure.. and a half.

I have a level 80 necro actually which I really enjoyed.. I am just not sure about having to go power in PvE and I sort of feel like I don’t bring very much to groups. I can’t give boons or much in the way of heals.. or like.. might stacks.. or blast finishers.. :/

I just wish I loved one of the classes. I see some people who are just so passionate about one class – one that fits them well. There just isn’t that for me :P Kinda sad.

My only hesitation with engineers comes from the fact that they primarily do condition damage (from what I understand) which is lackluster in PvE.. and I wonder if their toolkit swapping makes them clunky feeling..

Is there like a condensed written version of the patch notes anywhere? 2 hours is a bit long haha..

The only thing about rangers is that for PvE their maximum DPS build invoves sword + offhand.. which is kinda meh :< Plus pet AI seems prettttyyy wonky.

Are there really that many class changes coming? Have they posted the changes somewhere and I’m just blind?

I need some help picking a class. I recently came back from a long hiatus and I want to try and get back into the game. I usually play healers or ranged DPS.. but since this game has no trinity I am sort of lost as to what to play.

I would like a class that can do well (or reasonably) in sPvP, WvW, roaming and PvE since I like to experience all aspects of the game.

Well.. if you enjoy being a more ‘traditional’ support type role, I think Ele is best. You generally use staff in large-scale WvW battles and provide important fire / water fields. You also have some decent CC abilities.

Mesmer on the other hand brings some ESSENTIAL abilities to WvW.. however.. you don’t need a lot of Mesmers.. you only need a couple. Portal/Veil, etc.

The other thing about Mesmers is they don’t have much access to good speed abilities and have very few AOE abilities. The only ones I really know of are staff 5 and iBerserker on GS. The problem with the berserker is that it will die very easily in big team fights.

The last thing I’d consider is whether or not you enjoy melee combat. Mesmer’s sword abilities are pretty high dmg and distortion is always useful SO yeah, that’s my 2 cents.

I guess it’s just a little weird that they didn’t say anything as to why they’re bringing the server down, besides maintenance.

Was just curious, since Tuesday (although it would barely be Tuesday) is usually patch day.

Anyone know what the downtime is for? Is there patch notes somewhere?

In full berserkers or celestial gear.. does the healing from geyser/healing rain actually make a noticeable impact in dungeon/fractal groups?

Probably around $100 including a server transfer for both my boyfriend and I. Then some on silly town costumes/instruments/etc.

I’d love to see the option for humans to have red eyes. I’m disappointed that I can’t get them (even with the extra kit colors). Obviously realism isn’t important since we have orange and purple eye options, just no red.
