Like the idea but fester wounds should do something like refresh the cooldowns on the conditions already on him, and even that may be too op.
But I like the idea of a death shroud that complements your build. Post it in the suggestions if you haven’t already.
I love the Necromancer. I love the feel, I love the survivability and the attrition style warfare, I love it all ( well maybe not minions :P ). Its probably going to be the class I choose but as many people have said, it is broke so hard.
I heard some people saying that even Anett said that the Necro was the weakest class so far. Seeing this I know that they are going to be changing the Necro to make it more powerful, but how long will that take?
If I make a Necro, will I see improvements by the end of next month? Or will it take about four? Am I going to make a Necromancer and level it to 80 only to make another character because it’s taking Anett so long to fix this class?
Perhaps it could be changed to look like a dark knight? Or a zombie type of creature with dark spirits hovering over it? A kind of possession type of feel?
The word Necromancer can obviously mean many things, but the idea of death needs to remain constant. I think that the spectral skills feel a bit weak in that regard, more flakittenhan anything else.
Spectral skills should be changed to be less like utility skills and more like skills that should be used for power builds.
A book floating in front of you is cool, don’t get me wrong. But I just don’t think it feels very Guardiany by itself. A Scholar class could pull off the book look, but I feel like a plate class needs something added onto it.
I was wondering if anyone has made their character look like Artix Krieger from Adventure Quest. Any pics?
XD
The Guardians elites are good don’t get me wrong, but I fell that they lack the WOW! factor.
Necros have their Lich form.
Eles have their tornado
Mesmers have their………. bird transform? Lol
I’m not saying that every class has to have a mindblowing visual effect, but Guardians are magic classes, and as a magic class I expect a little more Umpf in their abilities. The ability effects are nice but the passive, visual effect on your character is pathetic.
Give the Guardians wings when holding their tomes and that would be awesome. Some may say that there are more important things to do but Aesthetics matter dangit!
I think it would be cool to have a little more melee variety for the Necromancers and a Scythe is definitely appropriate. The staff skin could be used but just have the Scythe effect permanent, or one of the staff abilities could morph it into a Scythe to make you a melee reaper on all the newbies
. Prolly would be a high hitting, more bursty weapon because the dagger isn’t very bursty. More survivey than anything.
Love the idea. I think it should be implemented, it would provide a little more diversity between fighters.
You know what would turn about 75% of the Guild Wars 2 community into necromancers and make Arenanet rich? The ability to change the lich form into some other appearances.
A fallen angel appearance would probably make them millions of dollars if they charged cash for it.
Lol…… please make a black, winged angel skin. I’d do anything……… ANYTHING!!
The definition of assassin on dictionary.com is – a murderer, especially one who kills a politically prominent person for fanatical or monetary reasons. This is what an assassin is. Perhaps they aren’t just limited to political figures but that’s what they are, murderers.
There are many more ways to kill people than traditional weapons like knives, and even katars. I don’t understand why people must limit assassins to agile people who do backflips and elaborate acrobatics to kill their targets.
The life of a typical assassin was probably much duller than that. An easy way to kill a target is to get them to ingest poison in some way. Boom, dead. It doesn’t matter in what way you kill them as long as they die, so I think that a true “Assassin” class would be able to utilize a wide variety of weaponry and techniques to kill their opponents.
While some of the weapons in the game are less subtle than others, surely it doesn’t matter unless you kill your target.
I could walk down the street in a flamingo suit showing off the most intimate parts of my body, take a megaphone, and shout at a target until he died. Subtle? No. Efficient? No. Sane? Hardly. Yet I accomplished the job. Now doesn’t that make me an assassin just by definition?
What I’m trying to say is that when thinking of an assassin you can’t narrow your thinking to a knife wielding, stealth enthusiast. Because the actual profession is quite more varied than that.
Really love the theme you chose. I have a question for those who played the Devil May Cry games ( I only palyed 4 :P ). Would a thief looking like Virgil be thematically appropriate? He never comes up in DMC $ so I was just wondering if the fighting styles clash.
The only projectile that has 100% combo field triggering, as far as I know, is the Earth Elementalist staff autoattack. Most ranged attacks are indeed 20%
I like the Scholar classes more than the others but I have exhausted both the Elementalist and the Necromancer.
I tried the Mesmer a little, but not extensively. So I was wondering if they are more like the necromancer, with more survivability, conditions, and attrition style battles. Or like the Elementalist, with more emphasis on burst, variety, and squishiness?
I know that the Mesmer is its own unique class but I want to know what qualities they naturally possess.
I tried the warrior and I can’t seem to do a lot of damage with it. I really like their bows but their utilities seem to mostly compliment melee. I can’t seem to find the balance between damage and durability.
I’m looking for a class that has : decent, if not excellent survivability , variety in combat, to be effective at range, and not to use Medium Armor ( I know it’s petty, but I don’t like how it looks ).
Mostly I want someone who can outlast their opponents and has variety. I tried the necro, but they only really can do conditions and pets. I tried the Guardian, but they don’t have any range and supposedly are a cookie-cutter class. I tried the elementalist, but they seemed to be to reliant of burst damage and weren’t durable enough.
I could really use the opinions from people who have taken the time to test their professions and their many different capabilities.
So I was looking through the light armor in the PvP locker and one of my favorite armors is the flame legion armor. Since you cant color the armor in preview, I was wondering if you can change the color of the flames.
I am probably going to roll a necromancer and being able to have the flames be green would totally make my day.
I know we probably have enough, what profession should I choose posts, but I really need some help from veteran players in my choices.
I have gotten every profession to at least level 10, some 20, and I really still don’t know which one I want to stick with. It’s not as much that I need someone to decide for me, as I need people to tell me the capabilities of certain professions.
My search has been narrowed down to these.
Elementalist – I like how it feels. It’s fluid and has a great deal of variety, but my main problem is their survivability. People have told me that the path of earth gives you good survivability, but no good Elementalist ever stays in one attunement for long. So, is it possible to actually build an Elementalist that is say, tough, and not reliant entirely on burst from their skills?
Necromancer – I like the amount of survivability they have. The play-style of outlasting your opponent is something I like a lot. But the necromancer feels like its forcing me to do one of two things. Minion control, or conditions. I find minions very lackluster and while I don’t think conditions are bad, they seem to be the entirety of a necromancer’s arsenal. At least all of their ranged options seem to be condition heavy. Are necromancers doomed to be either minion masters, or condition users?
Guardian – I like it for similar reasons to the necromancer. It has amazing survivability and it has a great variety of choices. They can emphasize conditions to a point, and they can support, tank, and do respectable direct damage. My main problem with them is the lack of ranged power. The main time this comes up as an issue for me is in WvW. I love this PvP option, I think it is unique and interesting, but it seems that you HAVE to have ranged to make any sort of overall contribution. So I guess my question here is, If I only can be effective at melee range, does that mean I am going to be sitting out of 75% of the fights in WvW?
Thank you for any feedback you can provide.
Give guardians some form of actual ranged effectiveness. It’s just sad at the moment, they really need a bow, or some kind of ranged power.
I understand that Guild Wars 2 game designers probably don’t look at all the forums posts for our suggestions but do you guys think that they will ever add a new ranged weapon?
I have heard many suggestions for a bow, which I would agree with, but these ideas probably aren’t being looked over.
When I think of a Guardian, it’s true that I don’t think of them as a ranged powerhouse, but having no good options for ranged really singles them out from the other classes. Even the warrior has decent ranged potential, so I don’t think giving guardians a bow or a rifle is asking too much.
But do the Guild Wars 2 people even recognize the lack of ranged power for a Guardian as even being a problem? Should I get my hopes up that someday they will add a new weapon? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part?
Let it be known that I’m not whining about this, but it would be nice to know if Guild Wars 2 will be ever giving the Guardians a little more ranged capabilities.
I hear a lot of people talking about “exotic armor” as the endgame armor. Are they talking about a particular set? Because I was hoping for a greater variety of armor appearances.
So is there a really high variety of armor appearances to choose from as a level 80? Or is it all rather linear in design?
What future new utility and elite skills you would like to get?
in Guardian

Oh my christ……. We so need an elite that turns us into an angel. It would be something like this.
You take the form of a heavenly Mother****ing ANGEL for a ten seconds. During this time you can kill anyone instantly and revive anyone, even if they were killed while downed.
Lol, jk, but I would like to see an elite skill that buffed you directly, rather than just give you another weapon. And of course it would have to have wings.
Guardians have so many self buffs, and buffs for others, so it doesn’t seem too inappropriate for an elite to reflect that.
Something like: You turn into a heavenly angel of justice for ten seconds. You would gain a lot of might or other various buffs during this time. If it was just might then you could make it so the elite doubled your damage during this time.
Not saying it has to be added, or even should be, but it doesn’t seem too op or unreasonable.
Mostly I just want to see a viable ranged weapon for the guardian, a bow seems very appropriate.
So that’s the only armor with wings? That sucks.
I still have yet to chose a class but I am leaning towards a Guardian right now.
I am really into aesthetics and want something to distinguish myself from other people and just generally look cool.
So I decided to make a dragon-like character. I have seen warriors wears masks that look like dragon faces so this confirms one piece of equipment I would want but there is another that I like.
I’ve seen Sylvari wearing equipment that has butterfly wings, or insect wings, on them and I was wondering two things about that.
1. Is that armor specifically Sylvari. I’m torn between humans and Sylvari at this point so I was wondering if a human can get armor like that too.
2. Is that armor just light armor? The only people I’ve seen wearing it are cloth wearers so I was wondering if there is a kind of heavy armor that has wings on them.
And I was also wondering if the butterfly wings are the only ones available. Bat wings would look so awsome!
XD
I don’t think that you people understand that Sylvari do not have a gender. They may look like males and females, but they aren’t. They are all just plants, so if one “female” sylvari likes another “female” sylvari, its not gay, because they don’t have a gender in the first place. Its just the overall appearance.
I dont know about creating enviromental weapons, as this feels like a purely elementalist, and to a minor extent, warrior skill.
Other than that I really like your idea. While I like the form you take for life force, it does feel rather limited.
Entangling roots is more for ranged people. Rampage as one is for both melee and ranged.
If you have a problem with survivability then I would suggest entangling roots since its main purpose is to keep people from reaching you.
When you click on it you get a flower in your inventory. You have to eat the flower by double clicking on it.
I was wondering what some of the more durable classes are. I don’t want burst, I want sustainability, the ability to outlast your opponent.
I already know about the guardian, but I’d prefer something with more reliable range.
Which professions fulfill this requirement?
Lol, it appears as though my suspicions were correct in that case.
I see a lot of traits in the blood magic line that revolve around siphoning health. My main question is if the siphon actually heals a respectable amount of health.
So I have two questions about Mesmers.
1. Mesmer clones. I have heard that against an inexperienced player they work very well, but an experienced player can see right through them. Is this true? If I fight a player that has played for a while will I just be doomed to shatter my clones without any use out of them for trickery?
2. Durability. I heard that Mesmers are more durable than Elementalists. Though I’m not quite sure if this is just because of the possible deception of their illusions. I’m not looking for a class that has burst and durability, but I would like to be able to survive a decent amount of time in a confrontation.
To those who read the original post, the right text wouldn’t show up for my response :P .
Somehow I don’t think that this will happen anytime soon. The idea is great, but then they would have to change all the other weapons, however few they may be.
Scepter would have to have water and earth like at 1200 range and staffs would have to have their range be either 1500, or melee range.
With the daggers it makes sense but for the others ( namely the staff ) it causes quite a bit of confusion as no class exceeds far beyond 1200 range and I can’t see the staff being melee.
So I have tried the Elementalist in game till about level 20. I love the class, and it’s probably one of my favorites except for one thing. Every time I go into PvP, whether structured or world, I am extremely squishy. I try to build with an emphasis on toughness but it never seems to work.
Lately I’ve been leaning towards a Mesmer because of their supposed increased durability.
The main thing I’m wondering is: If I roll as an Elementalist, will I be doomed to a purely squishy existence?
