Support. I enjoy being the sneaky ranger in the group. I am hard headed, and I will always tend to stay away from the pack(zerg). I go for sentries, yaks, and will spend time killing powernodes.

Yak killing is the best. I ended up spending one bl for at least a couple of hours in hiding, timing the minutes on when yaks would spawn. Pop out of my hiding spot, kill, retreat. (People don’t understand the beauty of cutting off supply to your enemies)

From time to time, I will join my guild in camp flipping. Small groups only though. Poor laptop can’t handle zergs well.

But it is lot’s of fun!

Ok so if I am all over the place, uncovering maps, and doing random events as I come across them I should be ok? (I don’t do dungeons at all, I just can’t commit to the time sadly.)

I only have one 80. I am burned out on WWW and PvP atm. (It is due to the fact I have had the flu for 4 weeks, got burned out) So I am exploring the world and gathering materials for my other 8 alts.

But there is something that deters me at the moment. I keep hearing the horrible word….Diminishing Returns. I know that this is to keep botters at bay (YAY) but I can’t get into a groove for fear of triggering it. Does it get triggered by killing things, gathering things, or both? I don’t run in specific paths, I am exploring zone by zone, but just on one character atm.

I asked my guild and even in map chat and no one really knew the answer.

I highly suggest this guild if you are into heavy WWW. Awesome people to work with and they work toward a common goal of getting the job done. Every person I have met with TV has been nothing but pleasant!

Thanks DEKeys, It’s actually one of my 8 characters, but I just got to really thinking today about WHAT I am investing points in and why. That’s when I really started overanalyzing it and wondering if I was putting things in the right spot.

(again we all know about that one character that stacked that one attribute when they should have been stacking another, in other games)

I may just catch you in game once I get the gist of how points work and why. I do mainly PvE (www does not play nicely on my laptop, and the couch is much more inviting to play on than my desktop) with a sprinkle of spvp on the side.

But I feel I am gimping myself by not understanding truly how points/attributes and secondary attributes work.

(Although I do miss being a dedicated healer, something about saving the day gave me the grins)

One other thing, with attributes, is there a such thing as a hard/soft cap?

I come from Europe and i first played on Blacktide, then we all moved with friends to Gate of Madness. At least on the time that I play, there’s not lots of players online. I know this is also, because i’m only 35 level, but I’m curious what server is the best with good community. My GMT is +1 and it would be nice to play on a server, where there is always someone to play with and do events.

I would say mine, but I am not going to self promote. (bad juju) (plus TC doesn’t have a strong night presence (EU)

I want to say CD had a strong night presence, and they were pleasant to play against when we went www with them.

Ok before you throw rocks at me, please let me explain.

Before this game, I played Rift and WoW. ducks rocks HEY…..

cough erhm Due to that fact, I am having a time wrapping my head around attributes in GW2. I am used to “Hunter, you only need agility…no mana!” or “Healer that has tank stats on it!!”

Etc, etc. So I have come to the fact that there is no trinity. But I still am having a time wrapping my head around attributes. (currently working on a warrior, so seeing healing just confuses my head until it explodes.)

So my question to you all is there certain attributes that say a warrior or necro should be investing in, not that it is possible to spec, but what helps out the character the most?

Aww and Ranger is my fav class. I run sb/lb build, and as long as I keep my pets switched up, I can survive (that and kite kite kite)

Very nice job! I am one of the zerglings normally in www, so I would fully expect a team like you guys have to take out a group. (Now in small guild runs, we are getting better though)

Been made fun of because of my Charr Elementalist “Earthwind and Fire” when she runs with “Shankz Sinatra” in my guild =) We get poked at for being old school music.

I actually dipped my toes in the pond of sPvP today and love it. Been kinda scared to give it a try, and kept to WvWvW. I guess in a daze of cold meds I got over my fear and hopped right in. Glad I have done so now! I already fear some names I have seen and really have a great time. And I picked the worst character to try to learn with (necro) to me.

LMAO. I will be sure to be on the lookout for him >) I need a bearskin pelt to make a nice blanket for the winter. Have the 12 gauge locked and loaded. =D

Thanks y’all, I was able to get her on my server and guild. I sat for 3 hours and kept restarting the client, until TC became available. Tell ya, that is love right there when you do that on Christmas morning! =) Hope everyone had a safe holiday.

And I know I am running out of time to decide, because I am sure others got the gift of GW2. =(

My daughter finally got Guildwars 2 from Santa. Problem is, she wants to play with me, but I play on a full server. I do NOT want her to be alone. (aka why I am sitting here at 6am EST reloading the screen to create a character for her) But I know Tarnished Coast is a full server 99% of the time.

Thing is, I also have made a guild family. Really love these guys and I hate to think I would abandon them, but this is my daughter. I don’t want her at 12 (and a newbie) to MMO’s to get frustrated with the game and quit or need my help and I am a server away.

I know I will probably have to move servers, but unsure which server to go to. She really loves dragons, so thought about Dragonbrand, but unsure about the community. Used to the tight knit community on Tarnished Coast.

So I need help, A) what would you do in my position? What server is a good server that won’t rip apart a new player in case Mama Bear ain’t on =)

It’s not good drama, lol. It’s a couple of people being lame. Right now, one of them is sitting in our Raidcall group even though very few people are on at this time and no one is talking. He decided to impersonate one our members (me lol) even though I’m already there so it’s obvious he’s not one of us.

TC players need to teach them a thing or two imo. You guys seem like you have a lot of fun in the middle of conflict. These guys are just angry.

Just wanted to commend the battle of the Greentower in FA last night. We all went a good 2 hours going back and forth. Arrow carts, Ballista’s, Cata’s and even a few Trebs were thrown down on each side. Was a lot of fun. And to whomever realized I was building arrow carts right out of LOS, yet used something to yank me off the walls, KUDOS! I loved that! Taught me several things, and I look forward to many more battles.

I have to say some of the tactics I have seen you guys use, makes me grin. Yes, I get my rear end handed to me, but I always learn something every time. Believe me, when I see ULTD, I tend to think twice before acting. And I like that.

I am one of the WvW Commanders in ULTD.

We have one goal in WvW: Prosecute our enemies and kill them repeatedly.

Often times we forgo the opportunity to make a server wide tactical decision in favor of what we do best: WvW wide murder. The battlefield is our home.

If we see an opportunity to assault a tower only that another server’s proud zerg can continually push their group against our might few, we will do it and farm them for an hour.

If we see an opportunity to put up crossed swords on an objective with soul purpose of drawing out as many zergs against us as possible, we do it and then continually blast our way through your forces.

We like to let you regroup, take a tower or a camp and feel confident. Then we like to smash that confidence and roll your groups and zergs up into nice tasty loot bags. The feeling is even better when we hear you left the zone to go to another.

We might even let you kill a few and give the illusion we are running, only to turn around and punch you in the mouth.

You can take this message as a chest thump. We have already played in the T1 bracket as a founding member of the Titan Alliance. We have fought against the best and beat the best. We came to FA because there are fewer queues and the enemies we would face would outnumber us. More killing for us. More QQ tears to collect into little bottles and give to the WoW players as mana pots.

If you see our tag on the battlefield, its because you are right where we want you to be. It was not coincidence that we showed up on your screen, it was planned. We know how to manipulate the map to get our enemies to feed us kills, bags, badges and fights.

Good fights to everyone and see on the battlefield.

Just remember some play it for fun, some play it for stress relief (had a bad day at work? KILL EM ALL IN WWW). Since competitive gaming began, you will see this in every game that has a ounce of competition. Some take it way to seriously, some way to casually.

Also, forgot the [PRO] player that was behind the vale right in the sweet spot of protection, I haven’t had a good laugh in a long time. Finally got a little to brave and was Illusion Waved to far from your safe spot and taken out. Loved it, loved the taunting you did and the taunting we did =D

Because! Speaking from a low level, nothing is more satisfying than messing with the heads of max level characters. Being max level would be boring if the journey through the war never happened. Being a recruit (low level) and rising in ranks (leveling) makes it all worthwhile. You go in, learn as you go, learn skills, tricks, etc. You just don’t go into war being a lieutenant.

This is all my own opinion.

It is totally worth it to me. Every character I have is below level 15. So I use my characters to scout, report back to the commanders the direction they are heading, head count. Plus repairs are really cheap. (I love getting killed due to the fact I lay there, and find out what they plan to do next, if they tag and bag a supply camp then run off, thats vital information for our servermates to know)

Keep your chin up and do what YOU feel is fun.

Thanks Marty! Anything to help the non commanders be part of a team and work better together. Nothing more confusing then seeing one blue dot on one side of the map and and a different one on the other, but being told “Get to the commander”

I just wish the low level rifles were prettier LOL. On my human, I look like a goober carrying one. Hate how the healing turret only does 5 teammates at a time now, but it is well worth it when running a ninja team. I agree grenades are so much fun when defending, or slowing up the enemy. I will give rifle a shot again, I have a tendency to try to unlock all weapon skills while I am low level so I don’t have to worry about it when I get higher up.

I would love to see different colors for commander titles, that way if they chose to break up into teams that way it could easily be said “blue team, go this way. red team that way, purple team hold defense, and yellow team seige up”

Would make it easier than seeing 6-7 all blue icons. (Just my own little opinion anyways)

Thank you CPG, I was fearful of that. I am used to hunting down on the web what is best for the playstyle that I go for, but with GW2 there is just SO many play styles that it can get very confusing. And here I was thinking Rift was micromanaging to the extreme =D

(edit: When I say hunt down, I end up spending more time OUT of the game reading up on what I should do than in game, hate that really lol)

I enjoy it so much though! Just thought I would get the communities input. Low Level players seem to be overlooked for the high level player builds. (Not an insult by any means, most players rush to 80, so low level is an afterthought in most games)

Tarnished Coast – We will get you back, you won’t know when, or how, or why, but we will hunt you to the ends of the Earth.

And we have the best commanders/teachers that go out of their way to do tutorial lessons in the morning for new players. Where to go, where to place things, how to counter attack.

Any particular site that is effective and successful with the build suggestions? I hate to be a bother. I know at such a low level I use myself as fodder. (Kamakazie ftw!) LOL

I know that when I played Rift there was a site that literally was just build stats alone. That was all they had, with ratings on effectiveness. I haven’t seen that sadly on GW2 yet

I have been playing since the beginning of the game, but I am a slow leveler. I choose to level a different character each night to avoid burnout.

With that being said, even though I put in just an hour or two a day of playing, I am very particular about stats. I love playing WvWvW but find myself wondering when I purchase a new weapon/craft a new weapon, what is the best upgrade to put into it?

I googlefu’ed about stats, but that lead me to being even MORE confused due to it is talking about max level.

For instance, I have a level 15 engineer, that I play WvWvW. I love the grenade style. But I get a new pistol, and I can’t stand it not having that upgrade slot not filled. And my goal is to survive, not to be a glass cannon, but to survive long enough and to deter long enough for my teammates to get the upper hand by a surprise flank attack.

What is the best upgrade to put into Armor/Weapon/Trinkets if the majority of your playstyle is WvWvW?

Precision?
Toughness?
Power?
Condition Damage?
Healing Power?

Any direction would greatly be appreciated.
