watch the Adnul Irongut – Hoelbrak – video. It took me 2 tries to beat him, after I learn about the mimid 1st part.
The only that scares is that without an large expansion. There won’t be any new classes, not should a big deal. But we will eventually need new weapons and or atleast new set of weapons skills, or this game will get extremely stale.
Too soon to know how well the living will work out, as there is nothing to game model out there (which I know about anyways). Its been really hit and miss, but events to be getting better. There is temporary contain I would like to replay. I imagine a year of two down the road they will recycle some of that content and they start to length events or space them out. (ie) you will have 2 new events followed by ‘sky pirates’ returning for one week only. As long as Super Adventure Box doesn’t return, that was less fun than watching paint dry.
This isn’t a reward at all. Its not worth the time it takes to mine 3 quartz crystals. Far better to play the game as you normally would and buy the crystals off the trading post. Especially when the crystal drop in price.
That 1st southsun cove event gived us with an ‘exotic’ ancient karma (accessory) with a slot for an exquisite jewel. Making it only half celestial.
It had +25 to all stats and +3% to crit damage and magic find.
Versus ascended’s accessory’s +38 all stat, +5% crit damage and +4% mf.
But without and celestial exquisite jewel its hard to compare.
Post can be deleted. Just found alternate post with answer. No it isn’t permanent
Have arena.net let us know if the new zone is permanent like sunset cove? With only 2 Way points and 2 points of interests I am guessing its not. Hopefully they crated the zone with more of a vertical jumping feel. Like the harpy fractal, minus the knockback.
sorry bro, but all they care is about keeping you playing the game and buys stuff.
Achievements don’t matter.
Brunobyof speaks the truth. Everytime I want to stop with the boring as F@#% dailies they keep adding rewards I feel I must have. First it was the karma (for strong armor), the laurels (for celestial trinkets) and now prestige armors. 6 months down the road the will be adding something to keep the grind alive. Welcome to Grind Wars 2.
Seriously doubt it. RNG keeps the grind alive and well. If anything they will change the RNG code to pay out the good stuff like greatswords less often and increase the likely of unusables like warhorn and focus, to keep u thinking its possible.
This game has balanced the classes for sPvP and WvW. 10 months after release would have expected them to balance out the game for the PvE dungeons and fratals of the mists. Not talking about nerfing/buffing skills and trait lines of the class.
3 Biggest problems:
-Melee is too powerful compared to Ranged attacks. A PvP reward for increased danger due to proximity. You can see DPS steeply drops with distant from target, leaving the classes without high dps melee weapons (ones targeting 3 foes) at a huge disadvantage. In PvE melee enemies don’t move when they attack, your danger is significantly minized by moving around (strafing and jousting). This problem is would be fix by: having melee enemies move when attacking, lowering melee dps, raising ranged dps.
-Melee vs AoE
In WvW you can’t have AoE hit every enemy in the red circle or one person 3-4 AoE players could wipe 20-30 people at the same time. But in PvE where Melee auto attacks hit 3 people for more total damage than AoE can’t hit for 5 is plain wrong. Fixed by: upping the AoE cap from 5 to 7/8, or make melee hit targeted foe for full damage and 2 nearby foes with glancing hits.
-Condition damage vs Critical damage
sPvP can’t have ‘hit and run’ builds out perform the direct damage or it would take the skill out of the fight. So Critical damage builds have higher DPS the as well as greater damage over time then condition builds (so long as the player doesn’t hit and run). Most people assume condition damage will do more damage over time, like almost every game in the genre. They see the big damage numbers and think 15k from 1 attack, one hit kills in 24 seconds. While the warrior with hundred blades killed 3 people in 2.5 seconds and moving on long ago. Or love the skills of a specify weapon set, and do not care how ineffective they are playing.
If we could see the class before accepting the into a party for FotM or a Dungeon. I would recruit tier 1 class guardians, warriors and mesmers. I would accept tier 2 classes thiefs, elementalists and necromancer. I would ignore the tier 3 classes engineer and ranger until someone more useful came along.
The class tiers aren’t a reflection of the potential of the classes have, or could theoretically bring to a group. But a reflection of based on the ease of which the hundreds FotM and Dungeons instances I have PUGed have been completed with various class compositions.
Devs could have far more impact balancing out PvE in general than balancing class performance by tweeking individual traits and skills. That said tweaking trait lines is freshing, breaking you out of builds you have been using for months.
Buffs to Elems appear impressive. But most buffs Staff skills, which was only usable in a few situations. D/D elems didn’t get anything and that is >80% of the community. Buffs to specter and focus were much needed too.
Meh super adventure box is hipster fodder, no actual fun here. Move along, nothing to see here.
It takes 60 hours to get a char to level 80. Add another 20-30 hours to full exotics. I would think +85% for the people playing the game are leveled and geared up. Most people are going to use lower leveled ats in these instances to take advantage of the experienced gained.
I beat the halloween jumping puzzle but not this one. Needs solo instances. I don’t have the attention span to sit around doing nothing for 2 minutes after failling.
berkut is probably right…i know most armor. caudecus manor armor in pvp locker is smimilar but its called divine council armor.

Does anyone know where this armor can be found in pve?
I don’t really care about the legendary items. But I am kitten off about Zap, or the crystalline sword skin being unvailable. Who is going to pay 190g for a skin on the TP thats an exotic. It was near unobtainable in GW1, maybe it will be availble in GW3.

no limit but….
" DR will trigger if the dungeon is completed consecutively and/or in under 30 minutes. This obviously affects teams that can clear a certain dungeon mode rapidly. DR will trigger if players cycle between two dungeon modes, even if the dungeons are different. A simple method to avoid this is to do all three explorable paths in order. DR affects all rewards for completing the dungeon and any chests that spawn in the dungeon. For every point of DR, dungeon rewards will be cut in half until reaching a minimum value."
It was by far the most fun I had on the wintersday event. Only problem was there wasn’t any point in replaying because there was zero reward. Unfornately they nerfed the already easy to get title. People won’t have as much fun anymore, because they will play it once, and won’t be forced to come up with clever defense stratgies.
Tested in the mists. Burn stops counting @ 1minute but appears to keep going. Dummies don’t hold up long enough to know for sure.
Can’t find a pug that can pull sparks back dwayna statue, in time to stop heal, on path 4 Arah. Was hoping to use drake’s breath, signet of fire and firey axe to burn her for a couple minutes after she stealths.
I was rolling a good portion of group dynamic events the first time through with an underleveled warrior in blue gear and masterwork weapons. PvE is too easy anyways. Hopefully they bring back hard mode soon. Then it will be a challenge to go back and vanquish all those areas.
Lost shore was a PvP balance patch. Hope they split traits/skill between PvE / PvP soon, and rebalance PvE classes soon. Have doon a little PvP and WvW, but mostly just the PvE. 3 level 80’s.
Elementalist
Style: 10 (funnest skills in the game by far)
Strength: 4 (does solid burst damage – very good survivablity )
Variablity: 8 (great @ surviving every situation – but slowly)
Feels: Like your pigeon holed into condition ranged damaged. That you sacrified alot of damage/vitality/toughness because they gave you some extra heals and the ability increase damage to just to the average by making your own combos fields/finishers. 1st level 80 class but has most sits unused now.
Guardian
-style: 8 (very well done skills – great traiting options)
-Strength: 8 (great survivability – very solid damage)
-Variability: 9 (best team player – does all situation very well)
-Feels: Best designed class in the game.
Warrior:
-Style: 4 (Skills aren’t that fun – traits are boring)
-Strength: 10 (this is godmode – best survivability – biggest damage)
-Variability: 10 Add nothing to group play – but tanking is most important role.
-Feel: It’s fun lays in its ability to face rolls all content. Mindless/effortless fun.
If you leave the large 50 player zerg you start get xp and drops as normal.
None. Legendary weapons should impress people because the skill it takes to acquire them. Not the amount of life wasted grinding them.
Neither for PvE. Game was balanced for sPvP, as caster as really light on damage. Play Guadian, its got a mix of caster and melee…with better survability and damage.
I’ll send you a postcard (screenshot) from the event labeled, “wish you were here”.
They really should make these once in a lifetime events happen twice in a lifetime. Once on the european server and once on the north america server. Delay the once in a lifetime event to a more suitable time like 7:00 even if the you have already been participating in the event activities.
That said the like in a lifetime event will be youtuble and probably only an unimpressive 10 second cut scene of giant crab exiting ocean.
FYI time was pick to suit europeans gamers, the game must have sold better there than in USA. When though fewer server.
For PvE soloist.
God Mod – 1. Warriors
Overpowered – 2. Rangers
– 3.Guardian
Properly balance – 4.Necromaner
– 5. Thief
– 6. Mesmer
Underpowered – 7. Elementalist
– 8. Engineer
If you want to play a melee character, both Warrior and Guardians are a good choice. If you want to play a ranged attacker Rangers are the only good choice. If you want to play a caster… play a different game.
Buffs + nerfs will eventually happen, but I wouldn’t call this a balance patch. It has more to do with fixing skills and modifing them to improving combat gameplay mechanices. Buffs + nerfs will eventually happen.
Roars. The say they fixed ride the lightning, by my favorite skill, even when it was the #1 cause of my own death.
Thanxs. I will give it a try when Jade’s status is no longer full. I believe every friday, when they rest WvW, they will open up the full servers.
Can someone recommend a server to transfer to which has a high volume of dungeon pugs. Or a time and day when its most likely to find a group.
Lion’s arch seems to be a good place to get into an exploration mode. But I still need the storyline dungeon to unlock exploration.
When getting pages for the scavenger hunt for an under leveled char. Instead of waiting for a group to clear a path through dungeon. You can switch over to your main character, clear your own path. Then relog with you alt low level char and run to pages before mobs respawn.
Incase this wasn’t obvious to you already. I was on my 7th scavenger hunt waiting for a group to kill the campion to get 6th page, before releasing I could open the end dungeon door this my main and relog… it was a real facepalm moment.
The Mad Kings Clocktower is amazing fun. I am asuming the next special event will be Wintersday (Chrismas time). Another time based puzzle would appreciated.
You’re on the edge of a waterfall. Jumping from iceburg to iceburg with elevation changes. If you’re progressing too slowly you fall over the edge.
With some environmental hazards:
-Frozen ground (chills)
-Slippery Ground (gain speed and less control) to slide you off iceburgs.
-Polar Bears guarding with melee knockback to bounce you off iceburgs.
-Randomly passed fishing hole which are hard to spot (fall throw)
-Grawls on the river banks throing snowballs (which knock you off)
Or you could recreate the rock beattle racing, with characters riding peguins (like sleds) down the side of the shiverpeak mountains. I’ve always wanted to use a peguin as a sled!
If everyone could farm the holliday skins, they would become common and no one would want them. They aren’t necessary nicer than the skins currently available. With fine transmutation stones in the game, you should be able to find a skin that your happy with. The addition of karma jugs has me considering getting a set of cultural armor. Which in my opion is much nicer than this holliday gear.
Elementalist is by far the funniest class to play. Problem is was that people wanted a burst / critical damage DPS caster class in GW2. None of the 3 caster classes fit that role. So the dissapointed fan vent on the elementalist class because it would typically fill that role. For WvW to be balanced there will never be a DPS caster class. Unless Arena splits the skills strength based on the the game types PvE, PvP & WvW.
Elementalist are fine the way they, except they need a Descent Elite skill for PvP.
And for Burn to stack like bleeds during PvE dynamic events. With 15 people in the area and it only takes 1 elem to keep burn going constantly. Gives you no incentive to place your combo field for the finishers if that damage won’t tick anyways.
Elems maybe be underpowered…but you can’t compare them to warriors. Warriors and mellee in general needs a harsh nerf.
For PvE I fing the Septer/dagger with Fire 30/ Earth 20 / Arcana 20 and full carrion gear to be the most powerful soloist. With 25% movement speed (15% dagger + 10 sig of Air amd ride the lightning to run around map with ease. Staff elem doesn’t kite around as nice, D/D has to gets to close to mobs. S/F – focus is the safest but really lacking in damage output.
Note: best to turn off auto-targeting and bind nearest target to mouse, or ride the lightning becomes a death trap rather than the ultimate escape.
Thanxs. Clicking on nothingness (random screen) when facing away from target will cancel target selection and let you burst away as long a auto-targeting is off.
I like the slow cast animation. Sure it will miss if you don’t use it properly. But the slow cast time is a trade off for its higher damage. If they sped it up they would probably cut the damage in half and it would sux.
In late PvE. I always have a condition removal. As some of the poisions can be long lasting. I fighting on land near water I will jump into the big drink and shed conditions. Generally I avoid underwater combat whenever posible. That was whirlwind is insane. Aleast compared to elem’s terribly sub-par onland elites.
Even with auto-targeting turned off. My elementalist always rides back to target, when i am running away (no longer facing him). Pressing ESC will cancel my auto-attack. But I still ride back to target.
Is there cancel your target altogether so Ride the Lightning cast in the direction your facing? I had giving up on the idea of using it as an escape, until I read in a guide that someone was doing the in sPvP.
Is your elementalist having trouble Dungeon groups
in Elementalist
Posted by: Sir Morgan Malory.2069
I have been having trouble getting into dungeon groups. Have on tried a couple times but no ones seems to want an elem on there team. Is anyone else having truoble grouping?
This didn’t bother me, I was going skip the dungeons all together with this class until I hit the last personal storyline (victory or death) quest which requires you to group in Arah’s Dungeon. Maybe I will stay up late this weekend. Join up a team that has 4 players and is tired of waiting for any melee character because to few players are online.
Who can blame them for wait for those mellee classes who can faceroll all PvE content by pressing 2…while reading a book.
