D/D Ele is not an incredibly difficult spec to play, it requires decent key mapping. Any player who’s worth his salt in WvW will be able to master a D/D Ele in a day or two after having it PLed to 80. There are plenty of difficult to play professions/builds out there … D/D Ele isn’t one of them. It’s going to get nerfed again, just like Thieves.
I have both of the offending toons, so this is coming from experience.
Nerf? lol
What they could possibly nerf on d/d that would make good eles less efficient?
There is nothing that will stop good eles from wrecking you, any weapon set will do, in a 8vs8 format I may opt to go d/d for RTL entirely but in a 5vs5 I can use any set and perform equally good even if under different roles.
If it is not d/d, it can be : staff, s/d, s/f, d/f…I’d still winBad players always hope for nerfs to bring the battle in their favour..but that never happen because simply you can’t nerf skills obtained through training
I play ( played ) a D/D Ele , they have to much mobility/escape. It’s going to get nerfed, by all means continue assuming though .. its amusing.
Ah, you are that ele Messi
Seriously, you either do not know what are you talking about or you are, say, joking.
I’m sorry if you don’t agree, but D/D Ele isn’t hard to play. There’s perhaps only two people I run with that might have a week-long learning curve the rest have or would pick it up in a few days, most have in less. There’s nothing overly complex about the D/D build, just hotkey management and combo manipulation. The build allows for mistakes with its mobility and ease of escape. Miss a combo completely … that’s alright because you still have enough mobility to escape, collect yourself, reset cooldowns, and then fire back in. You want a tough class to master, pick any frontline fighter without the mobility/escape of a thief or elementalist. I appreciate that some people may no have the peripherals that I do , nor the innate twitch/situational awareness ( not that I am a Korean (tongue in cheek)) ; but for those of us that do … D/D Ele is easy.
I’d take the drastic step of reducing every stealth skills duration by half, see where the class lands at that point. That’s still enough stealth for thieves to utilize their utilities and abilities in but should help to reduce the " I’m never going to die because you can’t see me" that good thieves have turned into.
About the only things that can kill a decent thief in WvW :
1. He makes a mistake
2. Massive amounts of CC abilities ( Ring of Warding, Roots, Dazes )
3. Another thief in a burst specI’m all for letting them do their thing in PvE and Spvp, but in WvW they need to be slapped down a peg.
So 1.5 to 2.5 seconds of stealth and 5 seconds off SR. That’d nullify a few of our traits, not even the ones WvW GC thieves take. You should consider that culling doesn’t give thieves their stealth perks, and effects everyone differently. Also that extra invis it gives is additive, not a multiplication. Personally when I face thieves they cull pretty quickly. Like .5 seconds tops.
I’m not sure I really care how much it would break at this point, nor do I think it would break the class at all in WvW. Stealth is out of hand , any WvW worth his salt knows not to chase a Thief or a D/D Ele and there is a reason for that. Even in instances where culling isn’t an issue, the profession has to much stealth. Every other profession has had a broken mechanic gutted, stealth is long over do.
I quit playing my thief because there is simply no way to determine if its the profession/build that is strong or if I was a skilled player. It’s a walk you can only appreciate when you play a profession that doesn’t have the ability to disengage at will and survive countless mistakes.
( This is related to WvW , I’m not speaking on Spvp or PvE )

I’m against censorship too, but this isn’t it.
+1,000 —- Tacking on an eloquent quote to a post about naming filters for a video game is absurdity as its best.
The statement " Clues for Legendaries are everywhere in Tyria" was a complete line. Not one person has every documented an in-game source for any of the information leading to the recipes discovered for the legendaries.
I thought Legendary precursors were going to be the first step of an epic struggle, Ala Everquest. Instead I turned out popping two precursors from the MF a day or so prior to the knee-jerk nerf bat. Unluckily I equipped them, instead of stashing them for the “Rich get richer” TP. So now that the systems been nerfed, regardless of Anet stating is hasn’t, precursors are a RNG.
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

Giving my support for this thread, it needs to be sticked at the top and on the Developers monitors until its fixed.
I didn’t see a ready thread about which I consider the gravest of issues with WvW. I know there has been one in the past, but I feel this issue needs to be screamed as loud and often as possible until the problem is corrected.
That issue is player culling, the single problem which is destroying my guilds desire to even step foot in WvW.
Issues that stem from player culling :
1. Thieves : Heavy stealth builds are able to attack without repercussion due to player culling. I play a thief, while on it the issue was hidden from me. I recently have been playing my Guardian and the problem is glaringly obvious. Whether the thief be in a zerg, mine or theirs, they simply are not visible to retaliate against. The only recourse we players have is to drop aoe’s and pray they become visible in time. The majority of the time I as a defensive Guardian go from 100-0 while standing in a protection field with retaliation and the only time they appear is AFTER the stomp that ends my downed state.
2. Small man teams are delegated to only attacking previously scouted objectives or enemies. We can’t rely on our vision of an enemies team, what was 5 turns into 30, what was 30 turns into 50. The only recourse is to surf the zerg, in which case the same outcome applies.
3. Mesmer Portal bombs : My guild uses these, we use them to great effect and have them used on us. The issue with portal bombing is akin to thieves stealth, half the time the enemy doesn’t see we are attacking them or vice versa.
There are more issues caused by Player culling, these are the chief examples to me. This needs to be addressed, and it needs to be fixed quickly. I’m already struggling to keep my small guild interested in WvW with the server mismatches, hacking, and absurd free transfers. I have faith in you Arena net, fix the issue before to many players lose the desire to “rough it out”.
" Blackgate’s new guilds made up the 23k lead Dragonbrand had been working on for four days in less than 12 hours."
I’m quoting the comment because there’s nothing anyone can say about the subject better. 12 hours … is all it took to see the advantage the transfers made.
I don’t understand why server transfers are still free, the score shift and mass amount of guilds BG received is the perfect example. I’m sure the logic behind the score will get drowned out by the " We are better than you" type of posts , instead of the obvious " Yeah we just doubled our WvW population".
Then again scores don’t matter, the fights do… more badges! =)
This animosity some of the guilds on Dragonbrand are showing each other needs to stop. ExOr follows commanders we trust, those who have proven they can intelligently get the job done. The commanders who are lacking in our eyes still get our support, we still assist them and still respect their desire to lead. Leading and getting something wrong is far better than no one leading at all.
The “Look what I just did” also needs to stop, every intelligent player out knows when a player or guild was pivotal in a play. We need to collectively pat our commanders on the back and privately send accolades for brilliant plays. Every guild on DB in WvW has a purpose and while some of us don’t want our victories broadcasted we equally don’t want someone else claiming the glory. As a guild standard I won’t refute anyone in team/map, those kittenlish in stealing glory are only kidding themselves so whats the point in calling them out? There are several unsung heroes in WvW on the DB side, and for the most part ( in the discussions I’ve had) that’s fine with them.
P.S — Why is R.e.lish popping the profanity filter?

I’ve seen a bit of coordination from JQ, realistically its normally the same guild(s) leading the JQ zerg. Which is what is supposed to happen, so I won’t fault them for it. I give credit to those guilds, they play well and lead well. The only issue I had with JQ was the numbers, being outnumbered consistently gets annoying. It doesn’t matter that whenever the organized teams met the JQ zerg ( lead or not) we destroyed them because ultimately we lost the map(s). Small victories made this week worth playing, with a few sporadic fights with the organized JQ guilds.
I can speculate that if the odds were evened out the total would have been different, but honestly that’s probably not the case. Having smaller amounts of players allows us to improve dramatically every matchup. The Dragonbrand server is improving, our players are improving, and our Commanders are showing quality, leadership, and tactics.
I pat myself and the server on the back for a job well done this week, during American prime time we gave JQ a run for their money, so the score doesn’t matter.
Kudos to ESOL from JQ, well played. FT from CD , equally well played.

Money isn’t an obstacle to me. 32,000 gems isn’t an obstacle to convert into 100g. It’s some $500. Big whoop. I spend more than that taking my wife out to dinner.
obviously just kitten stroking their kitten.
The irony , OH the irony.
The response from Arenanet had nothing to do with the exploitive use of portals to bypass walls/gates from the outside in. ( Ala the water gate ). You REALLY need to clarify that in your blog as well as in this thread. Arenanets comment was on portal bombing, not glitching into a keep.
Sadly JQ is just a zergy server with a few well run guilds that keep it interesting.I don’t play during the wee hours of the night, so I’m sure there are a few more guilds I haven’t yet had the pleasure of seeing in action though. I think the majority of us on DB thank JQ for the badges we’ve been farming since Friday. There’s really nothing quite like seeing puggies wipe a zerg with a fourth of the numbers to drive home a point.
In PvP Steal is fine as is, it’s not random and good thieves make ample use of it. There are some stolen items which people claim are OP, but in the grand scheme, certainly in WvW those items are fine as is.
In PvE I use it simply to burst, or move to the next mob. Sometimes it rewards me with an item that makes the fight trivial, but every time it rewards me with something useful. You simply need to know how to make use of each item, this is most certainly a mastery issue.
