Hey Sevei! Thank you for the report! I have a few quick questions for you which could help us substantially in trying to identify the root of the problem (pun intended):

  • Did you create the first tier of the back-piece (the Exotic-level item) before today’s patch?
  • Was the seed in your bank or in your character’s inventory?
  • Have you progressed through any of the construction steps introduced in Episode 4? If so, which steps have you completed?

If you could also provide a screenshot which highlights the issue, it would help us greatly!

Thanks, and see you online!

Mine has been replaced with “Pet Seed” as well

I finished mine on first day of Dragon’s Reach Pt1

I am currently at the point where I was to plant my cultivated seed. I went to my bank to get it out and saw it was changed….

Hopefully this gets resolved asap as it is holding up the completion of my backpack…

Effective heal = Heal per second * Target Armor * (0.67*Fraction of time poisoned).

Where Armor = Defense + Toughness.

Stacking toughness is more effective than stacking healing power for keeping yourself alive , since heal coefficients barely ever breach 0.1. However, personal toughness has no effect on your heal on other targets – that is dependent on their toughness.

Thus, if looking to heal others, Cleric > Nomad, and even Cleric should be taken only on healbomb engis and symbol/virtue full heal guards. And these builds are only viable in WvW and to a far more questionable extent PvP (as condi builds screw Healing builds over by reducing effective heal by 33%, while their damage completely ignores Armor and hits Vitality directly). Nomad doesn’t heal enough to be viable over Cleric in a zerghealer scenario, and it also does less damage in that scenario. If you’re soloing you’re dead because you cannot do enough damage to take down even the glassiest full zerk ele/thief, and if you’re in a zerg you’re inferior to a full cleric build of the exact same traits. For PvE scenarios, not having PpF/pPF/PvT/CpT/Cpv means your damage output as a Nomad user is low enough that a ranger’s pet will outdamage you.

If you really must heal others, though, an optimal config will probably be a heal/condi ranger with spirit of nature, sic em and full apothecary specced on A/W SB. If you want to take damage for others in a zerg while being an off healer, the better config would probably be a Cleric based guard.

There’s no situation in which full Nomad is ever optimal. This is not to say that people using Nomad will necessarily fail, but those same people on another healvariant build will do better.

I can’t disagree with you more… please make an effort to build one before you pass judgement…

To say it is useless in PVE is silly… No its not zerk so wouldn’t be best suited for dungeons but normal pve content you are fine…

This build PWNS in zerg battles… trust me…

Definitely tanky hammer warrior in WvW… My warrior is full ascended nomads and with food, sharpening stone, wvw buffs, and sigil stacks, he ends up at-

Power- 2100
Health- 30k
Healing- 772
Armor- 4k

I had a Warrior Hundred blade me for 1k and a thief hit me for ZERO on four consecutive attacks…

Take all of that and throw in he is a CC machine and I deliver tail whuppings on the regular in zerg battles…

Edit- Please note I am not even including might stacks which bump the power to in excess of 3k… and yes I know you wont have those stacks all the time but in a zerk battle before you engage an enemy it’s EASY to get 25 stacks of might…

They may have to redo this entire update to get this fixed. As in making everything instanced. I see a rollback and a 1 week wait coming.

Nope.

The problems appear to be based on too many people doing things at once. If all else fails, they can lower the max cap on these (2?) zones that are giving them problems until they become more stable. As the rush of players doing the story dies down, they can slowly raise the cap back to normal.

I’m hoping for a better answer than that, though.

LOL Anet makes content that is zerg based… then it breaks bc of too many people doing it… yeah… it was THOROUGHLY tested I’m sure… lol good one Anet

So they didnt envision everyone logging in at once, everyone zerging thro a map with NO lower cap, and everyone being in the same place at the same time and it still would work ok?

Eh, it’s not the “didn’t envision it”, it’s the “how do we plan around this” issue. I mean, they knew this was an issue back when Lost Shores launched and *failed kitten day one.

At least this isn’t “one time only”. Ugh.

That would be called forward planning, but why do that when a hotfix will do.

Considering we have no CLUE what the actual problem is in the code, and the majority of us probably won’t understand it if we did, let’s not just jump to conclusions. Unless you have powers that allow you to look inside Anet and know exactly what their planning was, then all you’re doing is adding to hot air.

Did they issue you official Anet pompoms when you became a cheerleader?

I’d say that a bug of this nature that COMPLETELY shuts down LS progression SCREAMS to me it wasn’t tested properly…

Gate of Madness promotion

in WvW

Posted by: Solomon Darkfury.3729

Solomon Darkfury.3729

It’s time to promote Gate of Madness to Silver League so they have a challenge and are not simply taking advantage.

GoM ( the first place world in Bronze league last season ) consistently outnumbers my world ( Devonas Rest, the second place world in Bronze league ) by something on the order of 10-1.

Their karma train reminds me of the Queensdale train. It requires no fighting skill and simply crushes by weight of numbers. The only viable counter is to wait until most of them leave at about 6-7 am PST.

This is an exploit on the part of GoM and makes for a pretty crumby night playing WvW if your world happens to get matched with them.

I spend the night hours back capturing and camp raiding knowing that if I encounter GoM I will have 0 chance of survival. They are seldom seen in groups of less than 5 and that’s very early in the morning. Otherwise, expect 20+.

I’ve heard discussions of having everyone leave until that week is up.

Have some courage and sportsmanship, GoM.

Oh ok soooo… what you’re saying is… you want me to go back to my fellow Gommies and tell them, “Ok look guys and gals, we are having people complaining on the forums about us having too many people on. I propose we now limit the number of people on a map to 10 to appease any ill will that is out there… oh yeah, also, no more zerging, that apparently is unsportsmanlike and noob.” Did I get that right?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…………….

Look mate, no offense (and yes I know this thread will be locked very soon), Anet designed the system gripe at them… and lets not forget, you are complaining about our being OP… lest we forget season 1 where Kaineng threw up the highest weekly score in history against us? It is done

Thanks to anyone who helped me along the way with anything, be it your guesses of what will go up or the few who crafted a couple of the legendaries for me. THANKS

*disclaimer- Twilight and Sunrise have been combined for Eternity

Here is the issue I have with this post… The first paragraph is a total lie… Not until after he is called out for only having 4300 AP does he come clean and admit he made 60k in gold playing the TP.

Now don’t get me wrong that in itself is an accomplishment…

But don’t get on here and misrepresent that you “earned” these legendaries.

It tarnishes what everyone else who has a legendary and spent countless hours busting their backsides for them has done.

I have several legendaries myself and several “high-end” exotics. 90% of which I crafted (note all of my legendaries were done the old fashion way).

So again please… next time for your own credibility and to respect the hard work that others have done please do not come on here lying about such an epic achievement. Trust me for those of us who worked our tails off, there isn’t anything “legendary” about getting lucky on the TP…

Grats to you and your self perceived accomplishment.

League Play hurts overall rankings?

Solomon Darkfury.3729

Hello everyone…

First allow me to say what a fun start it has been to this season! I am a commander on Gates of Madness Server and me and some of the other commanders made an observation today that to me, was a bit distressing…

Currently us and Sorrow’s Furnace are ranked 16 and 17 in overall rankings.

Now, due to the way the current season is setup, our win the first week is punishing us in the second week, at least, in regards to the overall world rankings. ESPECIALLY if we continue to win…

Second week we are facing the winners of the first week and SF is facing those that did not win. That means that if we continue to win SF should be facing competition that they should potentially be blowing out. Thus creating a wider margin between us and them in the overall world rankings.

Last week we won by a good margin but this week they are over ticking us, as of this post, by 13k… What that means is they can potentially continue to lose against us and STILL increase their lead on us in the non-tournament overall world standings by destroying their competition every other week.

IF we win we could in theory, end up with any even larger deficit than we had when the tournament started, which to me is completely ridiculous…

Thoughts?

Feedback/Questions: The Wardrobe System

Solomon Darkfury.3729

A legendary is mostly for the skin, and I dare say 80% of that gold and time sink, if not even more, is for the skin. The stats are just a bonus for the majority of the players.

People were still just as crazy about legendary when it didn’t have the stat swap nor much of a stat increase from exotic. Nor did they have the infusions slots. So in the end, the wardrobe is undermining 80% of that effort people put into a duplicate legendary.

Getting no sort of refund is understandable when it comes to gem store purchase and other duplicate skins, but legendary is a huge deal if you got two. In my opinion, the best way to fix this is to just un-soulbind the duplicate legendary for every person so they can choose whether they wanna keep it for the stats or sell it to get atleast something in return and let someone else enjoy it.

THIS^^^^

No one says “ERMAHGERD! YOU HAVE TWO INCINERATORS! YOU MUST BE SO STOKED HAVING BiS STATS FOREVER! AND ISN’T IT AWESOME YOU CAN CHANGE THERE STATS CONSTANTLY ON THE FLY?!”

They say- "ERMAHGERD! YOU HAVE TWO INCINERATORS! THAT LOOKS SOOOOO EPIC LIKE YOU ARE WIELDING DUAL BLOWTORCHES!

Legendaries are, for 95% of their owners, for the skin or effect ie. Juggernaut… end of story. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional…

We still haven’t talked about crafting Eternity to unlock Twilight and Sunrise skins and selling it for 4000g

Is that fair?

SO this is already solved in the launch of this concept… As they state only account or soulbound skins will be unlocked… So they can’t sell Eternity if they want to keep it’s skin… or Twilight and Sunrise…

This is one exception. Please see:
1) You soulbind Twilight. You get the skin
2) You soulbind Sunrise. You get the skin
3) You create Eternity. It is created not soulbounded. You don’t have skin.
4) You sell Eternity. You have skins Twilight and Sunrise (it does not vanish from wardrobe probably)
5) Person who bought the Eternity soulbind it. He/she has the Eternity skin AND Twilight and Sunrise (as precursors for Eternity). Mean that Twilight and Sunrise skins from one object is actually in 2 players wardrobe. There is one Eternity skin – true.

I’m not sure I see the issue of this sorry…

Player 1) Has Eternity and sells it… means they did the work to get Twilight and Sunrise in the first place AND SOULBIND THEM… Why shouldn’t they be entitled to the skins…

Player 2) Buys Eternity and soulbinds thus unlocking Twilight and Sunrise… They spent kitten near what it would cost to buy Twilight an Sunrise individually (current cost of Twilight & Sunrise as of this post is 2800g each, Eternity is 4250 wow… they save 350g lol)… Why shouldn’t they be entitled to the skins…

As I said I am not seeing the issue here… The only difference between having Twilight with Sunrise and Eternity is 5 piles of Crystalline Dust and 10 Philosopher stones lol

Edit: I love how you “nonchalantly” say buys Eternity lolz… I play the TP and there have NEVER been more than 8 listed for sale… EVER… so its not like this would turn in to some PROLIFIC issue lol

On another note… The topic of dual wielding the same Legendary or having crafted the same legendary for multiple toons… I am of two minds on this…

1) Legally I see Anet’s rights as they can change anything that they want when they want.

2) I also somewhat agree with the standpoint of if you chose to make that duplicate legendary you agreed with the rules at the time of purchase… It’s like a buy one get one free sale…. you can’t return the item you bought two weeks ago because now it is buy one get one free…

3) I DO however agree there should be some kind of compensation. Before you jump to conclusions no I do not dual wield legendaries nor have I ever made duplicates. I would actually BENEFIT from this having only one Bolt. My reasoning for said compensation is the MONTHS of work it takes to craft a legendary. Now essentially due to a drastic change that time has been wasted. It would be different if there were not things involved like Gift of Mastery, particularly exploration which could have been used on a different weapon. Also even it was just bought from farmed gold via dungeon running or champ trains… that is still is a TON of time investment completely lost which could have been done doing a multitude of other things.

The point is I understand where both sides are coming from. If I had to decide right now I’d agree the people who crafted multiple of the same legendary should be compensated for their time investment. Maybe a free Gift of Mastery? Again… I DO NOT benefit from this I just think it is fair…

Ok I completely agree with the OP of how inspirational this character is to those with disabilities. My question is why after this post was made, in the latest update does Taimi sound like a sadistic disturbed child when you speak to her about your victory over Scarlett in Gendarran? She asks if there was lots of blood and did you see her guts… then goes on to ask if anyone on the team lost body parts… to me it’s a rather disturbing twist to what in my mind was a truly inspirational character… I wish the writing had not gone that direction.

BLC Weapon Skins

Posted by: Solomon Darkfury.3729

Solomon Darkfury.3729

The fact they didn’t come back is filled with so much WIN I am almost moved to tears of joy… I’d say I told you so but I am guessing that would sting a bit…

You didn’t tell anyone anything. You stated what you wanted to happen and it didn’t. Three of the old skins are now craftable, the rest were not brought back. Of course no one will likely succeed in actually crafting any of them this year, but I suppose there are some people who seriously have no lives.

I think the bigger sting is simply knowing that you’re the type of person who is moved to tears of joy because people are denied the opportunity to win cosmetic items simply because they missed the opportunity a year ago.

Pssssssstttt…. the ones that are craftable this year… were craftable last year too… I am talking about the BLC skins

BLC Weapon Skins

Posted by: Solomon Darkfury.3729

Solomon Darkfury.3729

Selfish entitled players want everything and don’t think it’s fair that prestige items exist that they can’t get. Except they can: the skins are still availble on the TP.

Oh the cost is too high? So it’s greedy selfish entitled players who are also misers. Nice.

I find that the greedy players are the one’s who ask for gated elite content.

It’s greedier to want something for cheap when other people have already busted their kitten to afford that same item. Currently, the only gate is how much effort you want to spend to get gold and if people want the skins to come back so that they have to work less at that than the new people who have just dropped 250+g for the skins over the summer, shame on their sense of entitlement.

I just think it’s wrong for people to DEMAND that these awesome items remain exclusive to last years event.

I just think it’s wrong for people to DEMAND that these awesome items come back so that they can get them cheaper than what the going rate the players have been paying is.

It’s good business for old gem store skins to come back at a reduced price.

They would probably lose more business from players, for numerous reasons, then profit from doing that.

Bull, does not make any sense at all!

Gem store skins was never for prestige. That is why Anet made legendaries.

It does make sense, let me explain. If for some reason they do re-release the skins, the probability of a large group of people will quit. Why do I say this? 1. Because it was stated to be “gone forever” on the gem store during the last few days of the event. 2. Because there are people who have spent countless hours farming keys to obtain those skins, and will feel like they’ve been cheated. 3. Because there are a large amount of players who have spent large sums of money on BLC for those skins, and will feel like they’ve been cheated. 4. Some people play solely for the purpose of the market or being a collector. A great example of this would be Runescape’s partyhats, and many of their other discontinued items.

This this and more this… thank god some more people who understood what my point was regarding these…

Feel’s much better than self entitled people attacking me and calling me elitist over and over when I spread the wealth generously to guildies, friends, and even people I don’t know…

The main point here is Anet said they would not be back the final days of the Halloween event on the BL tab. They then reiterated their stance on items like these in a public statement quoted earlier in this thread. The baseball card analogy worked perfectly to describe this.

Solomon’s thinking is the same type of thinking that some people with legendaries have about precursor prices becoming cheaper/“easier” to get than they are now(Coming from someone who farmed 2 legendaries). It’s a crappy and selfish way of thinking.

You are incorrect. Precursors are not limited time only. Also when Halloween was ending last year they even said get your mad king chests now before these Halloween skins are gone forever…

I want proof of this. Where is this quote you are talking about?

It was posted in the final days of the Halloween event on the Black Lion tab. Before you ask, obviously I don’t have a screenshot because who the hell would take a screen of that. Never expected to have to prove it to anyone as in other MMOs I have played limited time and never to return items are just a reality of the MMO genre…

BLC Weapon Skins

No offense but I hope to god they do NOT come back EVER… These should be something that people who have been around since the beginning have a priviledge of owning. They can go ahead and make new weapons but I will be EXTREMELY kittened off if they bring these back…

So only people who happened to be around and got extra lucky, or who bought them from someone who got extra lucky should be allowed to have them? Sorry, but go be kittened off in your special “none for you all for me” elitist corner. I was here for Halloween last year. I did all the events and got 100% on the achievements, but I didn’t please the RNG gods and was not willing to spend the gold to buy a skin so I couldn’t get them. So should I not get the chance again to make good on that just because you happened to be lucky? That is a big honking load of bullkitten right there.

and again… this isn’t elitism… this is working my tail off farming BLC keys in order to open TONS of chests and get the skins that we were told would be gone FOREVER after Halloween ended. To be honest I suppose I just don’t get this sense of entitlement that everyone has. Why is it that you think you should be entitled to get something that you weren’t here for a year ago? To put it into real world terms, you find a collectors item that you like or an antique. Do you A) pay a premium price to have something you want due to it no longer being made since you want it so desperately or contact the manufacturer and demand they make the item again and sell it to you at original price because it’s not fair you weren’t around when they were originally made?

To me trying to argue for option B is a bit ludicrous and the same principle is applicable here. When Halloween was winding down last year they SPECIFICALLY put onto the BL page to get the Mad King Chests now before the Halloween skins were gone FOREVER… yes, they said FOREVER…

Limited time item, does not mean “Wont ever come back”. Or do you also buy coins off late night infommericials?

Also you worked your tail off to get chests? Two things wrong with that. 1. Working to farm items in a game is a bit sad. See, most people “work” at “work” and play a game to “play”. When that line gets crossed, you need to look at a bigger picture. 2. Its all RNG man. Don’t matter how many chests. Its not like you did something your average monkey could not do. Some got lucky, some didn’t. Stop making it sound like you did something amazing lol.

Please read my last sentence as it completely nullifies your first sentence…

Never claimed to have done anything amazing… I opened more chests therefore giving me more opportunities to play the RNG Roulette… How I did that was by farming keys.

It better not come back… I don’t mind if they offer new weapons but in no way shape or form should the old ones come back… They should be limited edition to be owned by the priviledged few who were there for the original event and busted their tails to get it…

As somebody who got the staff last year I’ve got to say that that is a very selfish way of thinking. This game like any other needs new blood and when you deny new players a fair shot at acquiring a weapon they desire you’re effectively depriving yourself of their business. Time gated content is not a good approach.

Hey don’t get me wrong, I am all for new skins…

I really hope those weapons return just to spite this guy.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure we’ll be able to craft those weapons again. I remember reading something related to that.

Let me preface this by saying I earned all four of my Halloween skins during the Halloween event and I use all of mine. If they bring these skins back it will screw over EVERYONE who purchased these using in game gold from the TP. These have a “special” market value due to their limited time status. If they bring them back then they should refund anyone who spent the hundreds of gold to obtain them from the TP months after the event took place. Not to mention the fact that the market value of these will collapse over night screwing over anyone who was trying to sell them as well…

I want to note that you cant resell items you are using so they no longer have a market value and you shouldn’t care if they come back or not either way unless you want to sell them. Only people who collect them to sell them latter when they are a higher price should care. And for them any new release and market fluctuation Anet does is there prerogative. No user <-person expected to gain from the release should have any say in the decision would be equivalent of insider trading.

Exactly why I have no stake in this argument… Thank you for making my point for me…. Mine are soulbound, so I am not looking to make any gold of of this…
