I’d like to know as well… I’m stuck at 150 scribing… need them to upgrade decorations
Also what is the determining factor that unlocks more decorations from the vendor?
Yeah workshop to get materials access. There is a guild bank vendor you can access you personal bank at.
I literally was choked up at work reading about tgis touching tribute… well done Anet… I’m so happy you all have a way to remember him now. I know I will remember his moving story every time I interact with his npc

I’m stuck between being amazed at your classist prejudices and remembering that most rangers seem to still be in Point Blank Shot Meta.
Still, the problem isn’t rangers, it’s bad rangers.
I totally agree… my Ranger is a FREIGHT TRAIN of DPS…

Lions Arch has a place that provides guild hall services for those who don’t have a guild hall. Check that place out.
ummmm this has nothing to do with the topic… Did you even READ my post? You can’t make a war room for WvW because one of the ingredients you have to use is something you can only buy from the war room…
His answer was spot on.
The guildhall (preview) in Lion’s Arch might have the war room which could allow the purchase.
No… it doesn’t… The War Room isn’t in there. The Guild Initiative headquarters is exactly as he stated “a preview” It does not contain any unlockable or upgrade features from guild halls only the basics… Otherwise why would guilds be paying a fortune for these upgrades…

So evidently there is a MAJOR design flaw in the War Room portion of guild hall. To complete the upgrade you need an item called Badge of Tribute… 15 of them to be exact. Just ONE problem…
Badges of tribute can ONLY be purchased with Badges of Honor from… The War Room.
REALLY?!
HOW in the WORLD did this make it through TESTING?! An item to build your War Room can only be purchased in… YOUR WAR ROOM????!!!!!

There have been some theories about an item in the wardrobe Gyve of Madness being required… sounds like Give? OR Gift? What if one of the missing items requires combining gift of souls, spiders, and moon with something else? to make Gyve of Madness?
Anyone else having this issue?
Can we not get a reply on this? This is impeding guild hall development AND scribing…
According to the Wiki this vendor is supposed to be in the guild hall and selling basic decorations. For whatever reason he isn’t. All there is is Fion selling the special decorations. Is this a bug or is it a matter of upgrading? I ask because the lack of this vendor is actually impeding my Scribing process… and of course decorating our guild hall… ANY way I can get some dev clarification on this?

Do none of the Dev’s actually play WvW on a regular basis ? Why are we having to explain the flaws here ? Are you really that out of touch with one of your major game modes ?
I seriously can’t believe that we need to explain this to the people who run and design this game.

I plan to NOT get to play my Glint elite!
I took a step back and you know what? It would not be much of an expansion if they just handed us all the new features without having to do something with the new content. All I have to say is thank you ArenaNet for working hard to get this expansion out to us all.
I main 4 classes in WvW… I’m highly proficient in them all. Guardian, Necro, Warrior, Ranger. Only my Guard and my war have done ANYTHING in PVE they are both at 100%. The two I want elite on? Of course my Necro and Ranger, the two that were literally born and bred in WvW ONLY. So no I get to grind out 800HP for the two of them bc my chosen game mode on them has been WvW? Seriously?
Also, here is another point why this is ridiculous. You realize this system actually forces 1 class to not be able to unlock it’s elite at all at launch? Revenant. Even if you tome one to 80 you will need to grind out 60 to unlock it’s Elite. EVERY other class can stockpile 60 to have elite at least unlocked launch day. Revenant bc it doesn’t exist yet is just “kittened”
There are MYRIAD of reasons why this system SHOULD NOT be implemented and so far the only real reason I’ve heard for it is bc you need something to work towards…
Ummm tell you what, how about I work towards the time gated masteries, or the progression raiding for legendary armor, or the level 100 fractals, or scribing, or helping my guild build the guild hall, or the new legendaires? All of these things locked behind time… Why include core class mechanics to that list? That makes absolutely zero sense to me. We have ENOUGH to work towards already, not having our new elites to experience the content with first day is a travesty.
You know what you are doing as a company? You are turning your shiny new xpac maps into a silverwaste for HP the first month… All you will see is LFG for HP trains. Which is sad. You now have forced players into a no win situation. 1) Do I take my time with the content and explore it as I should absorbing all and thus be a detriment to my guild on the battlefield for bringing a non elite OR 2) do I ruin my xpac experience and just HPtrain the map like so many others will be doing…
Every day I see these announcements and just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, this is appalling…
and to those of you that will throw out the obligatory if you don’t like it go elsewhere… I LOVE this game. I’ve done almost everything there is to do. I’ve almost completed my set of legendaries. I’ve map completed. I’ve AP chased. I’ve maxed fractals. I’ve given time and effort and boatloads of money (Id consider myself to be what most here would call a whale) to support this game and community I love and sadly every day leading up to this expansion has been a total disappointment…
This 400HP wall is poorly designed and poorly executed. You want to lock elites behind something? Do it behind personal story. Make going from a regular necro to becoming a REAPER an EXPERIENCE to remember. BUILD the elite specializations into the story!!! Then they would truly mean something instead of locking them behind time just for the sake of it. All you are doing is a disservice to those that have been most loyal to you… your fans, your players, your gaming family. I know it’s probably to little to late to implement fixes to this, I just hope you all at HQ realize what you’ve done and how deeply we as a community are disappointed.
In 3 years of gaming you have never made me question a single dime of the exorbitant amount I have spent… until now. Give us back the GW2 we know and love…

Unless I am mistaken just to unlock half of the training line, we need 212 hero points?
It’s 400 points total to unlock everything in an elite spec training line – I just can’t remember off hand how many points folks have currently if they have done all the existing ones, but it’s right around 200. The rest you’ll need to earn in jungle to unlock the deeper skills/traits/etc. in the training line.
You only need 60 hero points to begin using your elite spec, the points you spend after that continue to unlock more skills, traits, skins, etc.
Again, hero challenges are worth 10 points each in the jungle. So no you don’t need to go do 200-400 jungle challenges.
A Portrait of the Player as a WvW Regular
- Two accounts (actually I have three but only purchased HoT for these two).
- Twelve level 80s
- Two above 60 hero points
- Only one with 100% map completion
- 75% of toons under 20% map completion
- 5904 combined total gaming hours
- No Legendary
- No full sets of ascended gear
- Purchaser of gems with real cash
- 1892 combined WXP rank (677 and 1215 respectively)How can you help me? Can I hire you to get the hero points for my toons?
THIS!!!! SO MUCH THISSSSSS!!!! This is EXACTLY how EVERY WvW regular feels right now…

Core gameplay should NOT be gated behind a grind.
What are you even talking about? In the core game, don’t you have to level to 80 in order to go to cursed shores? So cursed shores is gated behind a grind as well, isn’kitten
Nope, you can take a low level into Cursed Shore. The boundary doesn’t require you to be level 80.
…and be one-hit by rabbits running around there. Come on, you understand, what I want to say.
There are tomes one can use to bypass leveling if you’re a vet and don’t want to grind out to level 80.
There isn’t going to be anything like that for hero points.
Actually there is. It’s in WvW.
Lolololololol 400 ranks in WvW… you make it sound trivial. I know you are on TC and all but do you even WvW bruh? Lol

Here is my take on it… for all intents and purposes originally Anet made it sound as if we would get to use elites day 1. Then they said unlock via HP… then silence. NO ONE could have imagined the staggering 400 HP number that got bomb shelled on us today. Counterpoints have been it’s just 40 HP in Maguuma… How many of those you think are locked behind masteries? It could ve a couple of weeks if not more before some people get to play the elites they thought they paid for.
ANet did no such thing. They said Elites are a thing. -how do we get them? We’re changing skill points into hero points, but you won’t be able to fully spec out with HP from leveling, you’ll need to earn the rest by doing the ones in the world. Then you need to do HPs in HoT to get the stuff for elites. -we don’t want to. Ok fine, you can have a full spec from just leveling, but you’ll still have to do HoT stuff to get elites. -COOL, we get to be fully decked out and elite just by leveling to 80! crickets
That’s pretty much how that went. I know it can be hard to remember conversations from half a year ago, but that was the information we actually got.
1) source
2) god forbid anyone would want to play through the new content on their new elite first… that would be totally illogical…

Honestly, I think this is a very good thing. This system encourages you to fully explore the jungle while still allowing you to make up some of the difference with central Tyria mastery points.
They’re called ELITE specializations for a reason guys. It’s part of the progression. I’d much rather have this than some stupid gear grind. This way, instead of just powercreeping up, you’re gradually unlocking some new skills, traits, skins, and runes.
No, you won’t have your Elite Spec fully completed on day 1 (well, maybe you will if you go hard enough), but I’m pretty sure that’s the POINT. It gives you something tangible to work towards while still enjoying the expansion. If you people consider this grind, it means you consider simply playing the game a grind. If that’s the case, why are you still playing?
For one character I’m sure it’ll be fine. But it depends on how much content there is in HoT – we have four new zones and no way of knowing how much landmass we’ll actually have to play with. The cynic in me thinks this requirement is to compensate for what isn’t going to be a lot of content by time-gating access to elite specs with this many HPs.
You need 60 hp after all is unlock on your character. level 80 already nets you all that more or less. any extra goes towards the other. so if you just did level 80 and that it, you can easily do 6 jungle hero challenge and bam elite time. True, unsure how easy 6 will be, but in the beta, I recall at least 3 in easy reach, though I explore more then worry about them.
This is so wrong that it borderlines on misinformation. To unlock EVERYTHING on an elite you need 400 HP. The 60 you mention is just to OPEN the new trait line. 60 to open then 340 to max it out.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Solomon Darkfury.3729
Unlocking your elite spec is a training line in your training panel that costs hero points. You do need to have trained all the existing training lines before you’re allowed to put hero points into your elite spec.
If you’ve got all the hero points in the existing game and have enough to train about half the elite specialization training line on launch day. The rest you’ll need to earn in the jungle or via the new system Tyler outlined yesterday from WvW. The number of points to fully train your elite spec is higher than other training lines – but hero challenges in the jungle are worth 10 points each, so it’s not actually as big as it appears.
Colin, in regards to the WvW system outlined yesterday, are there going to be retroactive points rewarded for ranks already earned? There wasn’t any clarity regarding this and despite multiple queries no one has replied
Soooo will we be rewarded these retroactively based upon our current ranks?
I’m sorry I’m totally confused… aside from what is coming in the xpac (which you will have to do TONS of pve just to have access to things wvwers already had ie +5 supply), what WvW updates are you referring to? Golem week? Lolololololol
Oh and btw I’m what you would call “a cash cow” and I would designate myself pvx so not all of us “cash cows” are pve… just sayin…
If you want some examples well off the top of my head..
You used to be able to banner keep lords, with a banner rotation you could stall almost indeffinetly.
Nametags of the dead used to stay red.. I still remember how much harder it was to fight without the grey tags of the dead.
EoTM was another update.. could have been a great one but meh.
Siegerazer was another one.
WvW mastery’s was an update, and has been updated several times.
Lots of other little things from the damage of siege equipment to the supply cost of equipment.. quality of life changes and so on.
…I guess I should thanking you then for spending some cash on the game. I don’t have a big budget for computer games. The buy to play model is what got me into it.
And thanks Anet for the beautiful game and a great model for online gaming.
90% of the stuff you listed was QOL stuff that should have been that way in the first place lol
EOTM is the ONLY thing on your list that was an effort at an expansion onto WvW and it just ended up a Ktrain… again, watch the video. They are so out of touch with reality when it comes to WvW it borderlines on sad
Remember folks… Anet “data” has led them to the determination that their are not players who spend all of their time in WvW. That is straight from an interview with Colin and Mike…

I sure hope they keep the game as diverse and healthy as it is now.
You should be thanking them really. If they weren’t catering to the PVE cash cows you wouldn’t have WvW updates at all.

Completely new replacement to Borderlands as a fix against the current stagnation and design flaws in the Alphine one.
New siege in the form of the Siege Generator to help with defensive situations more.
Guild perks especially related to keeps, towers, and so on so that holding them is far more valuable than flipping constantly as well as making it easier to hold them.
A rework of the upgrade system so that it is no longer a gold sink that most players avoid due to the lose of money compared to the potential for the keep to flip. Also along the same lines is the supply/Yak system to prevent the constant griefing from Thief characters against an entire server at multiple locations.
Adding new Legendary crafting items to the WvW loot table that are exclusive to that mode to make it both a trade resource against PvE players or as a self-kept resource.
Supposed new loot table and rework of the loot system to help promote defending beyond just objective flipping that is the current ‘meta’.
They’re doing a lot for WvW this expansion. At least it does seem far more than sPvP, which is just getting some new reward tracks, a single new map and mode and…well, that is it. Hmm.
I do believe I said… aside from the xpac…
Oh and not to mention… you have to claim a guild hall, gain enough favor and mats to upgrade it to the point it has a war room, setup someone who is scribe and they have to level scribe, said scribe then has to create the schematics (which I am sure will cost mats) for your wvw upgrades you want, then they have to process themselves into creation… rest assured, to ANYONE who does ANYTHING in WvW this kind of time sink is nothing more than a detrimental annoyance.

1) Twice told legend title literally has NOTHING to do with any of your points
2) Your points are completely baseless…
3) To elaborate on point 2, they haven’t said a single word about releasing anything higher than ascended ever… EVER.
4) My guess is you are referring to Legendary armor. Which of course has same stats as ascended and like the weapons is just an asthetic achievement.
5) By all means show me where I am wrong on any of these counterpoints…
This will only be worth anything in spvp. In ANY multiple target scenario this will get you killed bc of Field of View. To quote the great Dr. Grant, “Imagine if you will you are there alone with it and the attack comes… not from the front, but from the sides… from the two you didn’t even know were there…” That’s why this will suck except for solo pve content and spvp
Action camera mode will get you slaughtered in WvW and Pvp… only benefits one game mode and even that is situational and that is solo open world pve… just sayin… There is a reason most other mmos do not use it.
Tomes do not count as they are not a Heart of Maguuma source.
Also not everyone can play all day every day. What if they want to do raids. What if they want to do new wvw. What if they want to get to fractal level 100. In an ideal scenario if you did 10 events a day that took 7 minutes each you are looking at 1 hour of game time a day dedicated to this task just to get it in a year lol
You do realize that doing raids, WvW, and fractals also gives experience. Some may even give more experience than events.
You get experience doing just about ANYTHING in the game. You don’t have to restrict yourself to just events. And raids will count to the HoT masteries just as much as HoT zone events, adventures, mapping in HoT zones, and HoT storyline.
Besides, experience boosters count.
However, one thing missed by the OP is the experience required to unlock HoT precursor collections – which, iirc, is over 20 million too.
The thing that you missed is only xp earned in heart of maguuma will go towards heart of maguuma masteries
ToT bags? I’m just wondering. As I don’t want to be farming hp bags when I need to be doing something else to get the skins I like the look of.
And by skins I mean the ones shown on the release page.
It’s ok I bought like 20 thousand ToT bags when the announcement hit… I’ll happily sell you one of my extra skins for a couple hundred gold
Or they can go the easy route like they did Wintersday and make the skins easy
Yeah I think they learned their lesson with that…
Does this factor in exp. boosters and the fact that the mobs in the new maps seem to be giving significantly more exp. than in old maps?
Doesn’t factor in mob killing or exp boosts. Let’s just say you were able to maintain a plus 100% boost to your xp the entire time you are in there. Congratulations. You cut it to 6 months
The point is think about how long an amount of time 3776 events is… That’s the amount of time you will be able to do nothing else in the game.
Silverwastes has shown that people will do the same event over and over if the rewards are good. You also get xp from every piece of the map and from map completion. So while you are going for the achievements, you are also getting exp. Using the events as a measuring stick is a bad idea. Also, if the events get loot then you aren’t just doing it for the gift, you are doing it for the loot which means you get gold. So I think this post is a bit premature.
Lol the events aren’t what’s most rewarding in silverwastes… the chest farm is by far
Does this factor in exp. boosters and the fact that the mobs in the new maps seem to be giving significantly more exp. than in old maps?

Well if you only play an hour a day then a year sounds about right.
And this is coming from someone who can only play about an hour a day, has played since head start, and has no legendaries.
They are supposed to be rare.
You are missing my point… it’s an hour a day… of nothing but that… if not then it’s going to take you much more than a year lol
Lvling that many times isn’t that bad especially if tomes count or w/e. It’s a legendary for goodness sake.
And who only does 10 events a day… math if off there. Bet you could get it in 1-3 months easy.

The info on Gift of Maguuma was in their blog post on the new legendaries. The info regarding mastery xp can easily be found on the wiki.
Well I must be stupid because I don’t see it. The only thing they specified for the Gift of Maguuma was a Bloodstone Shard and that’s the only thing we see on the Wiki page.
The Gift of Maguuma Mastery is no different—but with the exception of the required Bloodstone Shard, the ingredients are all about playing in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns. For this gift, your dedication to the game will be tested: you’ll need materials that can only be acquired after completing all of the Heart of Maguuma Masteries, map completion of the expansion zones, and a lot of each of the map-specific currencies
I forgot the map completion part as well… remember some areas you can’t even access without full masteries.

Must complete all 4 Maguuma mastery lines.
17 million xp per line from ONLY Maguuma
That’s 68 million xp
That’s leveling past 80, about 270 times.
That’s roughly 3776 events completed in Maguuma. (944 events per mastery line to gain the needed 17 million xp to master it).
If you did 10 events a day it will take you over a year to get Gift of Maguuma for the new legendaries.
(Please note this does not factor in mob killing)
Best of luck wanting to do anything else for the next year if you want a new Legendary!
Thanks but no thanks Anet. Love the game and the company but that’s ridiculous lol

One time, me and a few friends, followed this one guy around, and whenever he stopped, my friend would point at him and target him, and we would all dance in sync. The poor guy finally waypointed out when he asked us to stop and we wouldn’t. Both stupid and funny, on our part.
So you know… that’s actually harassment and you can get your account suspended or even banned…
ToT bags? I’m just wondering. As I don’t want to be farming hp bags when I need to be doing something else to get the skins I like the look of.
And by skins I mean the ones shown on the release page.
It’s ok I bought like 20 thousand ToT bags when the announcement hit… I’ll happily sell you one of my extra skins for a couple hundred gold
lol ikr?
15 char :P
The character on the left does seem to have the bat “shoulders” (which looks more like a back item).
That makes no sense for them to be shoulders bc then what happens when someone is wearing wings?
Noone forces you to build the new legendaries as fast as possible. It wont kill you if it takes 6 months
the point is… If I am TRULY supposed to be allowed to “play my way” which has been the GW2 Mantra since launch then why time gate something so badly?
Take for instance ascended… if you TRULY want to you can bypass the time gate by buying the materials BUT if you must go with the time gating a full set of armor worst case for celestial is like a month… That’s somewhat reasonable.
To put something like new legendary weapons behind that much grind that realistically unless you are jobless and lifeless you more than likely won’t get one for MONTHS.
Personally I LOVE burning through content. The reasoning is because then I am freed up to play what I want, when I want, how I want… The new Legendary system for the new legendaries is so horrendously time gated it’s sickening… first the ludicrous amount of time spent “crafting” the various iterations of the precursor, then the various gifts. The most insane time sink of all of course being this “Gift of Maguuma Mastery” More like “Gift of not being able to do anything else in the game”… 100% map completion of new zones (that’s cool), Lots of the new currenices (I can deal with that), MAX out ALL of the Maguuma masteries (wait… what?). Yep… 32 mastery points AND 32.5 MILLION xp gained while in Maguuma…
So much for wanting to spend time in the New Fractals or checking out the new WvW stuff or working on Scribe for my guild hall…
This is single handedly the LARGEST time sink Anet has ever introduced.
lol now you’ll need ascneded for endgame… It’s somewhat more expensive then normal exotic gear…
No you don’t need, it is recommended.
Also, you know you can get ascended trinkets after a while by just logging into the game, right?
Ascended weapons is WAY more accessible then armor, if you have asc trinkets and weapons and exotic armor you barely have any difference from a full asc player.BTW there is no grind in GW2, you grind only if you want to, no content at all requires you to be full ascended and much less legendaries.
Cups are “recommended” in Football… ask any guy who’s ever been stepped on by a cleat as to whether or not it was needed lololol same applies here
