The person that is having an issue with their account will need to continue their dialog with support. Vouching for other players will do nothing and is frowned up in the forums.

Please do not post petitions or testimonials. Your case will be carefully appraised and we will do the best we can to help, but having 10 friends vouch for you clogs the system and doesn’t add anything or change the outcome.

Ok understand this… She HAS gone to support… and for the reasons I am getting ready to state it was felt it was needed to be brought here…

So most of you on GoM know me or know of me… I’ve played since launch thousands upon thousands of hours… I was one of the first commanders on the server, I was one of the first with a legendary, one of the first with multiple legendaries, and one of the first with Eternity… I’m also not afraid to admit I have supported this game financially through thousands of dollars of in game gem purchases.

I brought Grace to this game from a game we knew and loved before this one… granted she took a little to convincing but once she made the leap, once she saw the depth of ingame content, once she saw how you could customize your characters, once she saw the AMAZING community… she was hooked… She’s been playing for two and a half years now and played TONS of hours and also supported the game financially with alot of gem purchases…

Grace is a well know and well respected member of the GoM community. As you have heard from others, she has taken to heart my own philosophy of a pay it forward slefless attitude towards others in the community. Quite often she helps others via gold, dungeon runs, Fractals… She even helps alot with TTS guild events…

I have known Grace for 5 years and trust her IMPLICITLY… This isn’t some stupid gamer trying to find their way around the system… This is a respected member of the community who is facing the travesty of her account being hacked via a phishing scam.

The travesty that is the “customer service” being delivered on this case… let me lay out the facts for you-

1) Grace has had to deal with FOUR different CS reps and had to practically reboot the conversation EVERY TIME. Anet didn’t assign a single case manager…

2) Grace provided the time and date of the hack. Anet should have been able to tell the change in password at that time.

3) The hacker setup a mobile authenticator. (which Anet would obviously know when happened)

4) Her Gmail was hacked too and Grace has provided that info to Anet from Google correspondences… Which included the hacker’s Japan IP.

5) The first CS rep admitted it looked like she got caught by a phishing scam

6) The last CS rep refuse the windback telling her to not give her password to friends… (Do they even READ the case notes?)

7) Anet gave her access to her account which was of course gutted and said it looked like everything was fine…

8) Grace has provided EVERYTHING Anet has asked for and only asked for a little good will in return by winding her account back…

Grace has always been a heavily active member of her guild and the server community… What is happening here is unbelievable…

Having been in the customer service industry for two decades I find what has happened here to be apalling at best. Grace would literally gain NOTHING from the windback. Anet would lose NOTHING from the windback. If anything there would be one entity that would get something out of this and that is Anet… They would keep a LOYAL and financially supportive player who is an ACTIVE and HELPFUL member of the community just by showing a bit of faith and a little bit of good will…

As I said before I have been around since launch. I’ve played thousands of hours and I’d like to think I am one of the most well known members of the GoM server. I have spent thousands on gems in this game(all verifiable by Anet). And unfortunately to me I find how this entire situation has been handled, at least from a customer service standpoint, to not be up to the standards I would want out of the reps at my job who make minimum wage…

As such, from this moment forward I pledge to not buy any gems until this situation is handled and resolved in a proper manner… If Grace gets the windback refused again then Anet I regret to inform you I will take my thousands in gem purchases to a game more in line with my own personal customer service beliefs. Simple beliefs to put the customer first… I will walk away from the game I have loved for 3 years and my money will go to support someone else…

Thank you for at least hearing us as we support our friend in need..

Sincerely,
Solomon Darkfury
Gate of Madness Server

Lately, more and more I’ve had serious issues getting the will to log in… Now please do not take this as a humble brag I am merely trying to apply some context to the situation. I currently have 7 legendaries, at least double that in ascended weapons, almost every single high end exotic weapon (Mjolnir, Infinite Light, etc…) and weapon skin in the game(even the limited time ones like from first Halloween), 7 sets of ascended armor, Fractal backpack, closing in on level 1k in WvW…

I honestly am finding it difficult to find a reason to log in anymore…

When LS content comes out it is at best 1-2 days worth. Yes there are recipes and such to chase but the major portion of the content can be completed in hours.

Feature updates hit and most are meh at best, some QOL stuff, some balancing, some UI stuff but nothing ever truly amazing.

I guess my question is… for those of you that have been at this since launch like me, and have achieved alot of your personal in game goals, what is it that keeps bringing you back? What keeps you playing? Because at the moment I am finding it more and more difficult to find reason to.

I’ve even started looking at other games which saddens me given all I have accomplished here…

I wish ANET would really consider a full fledged expansion… or some other form of EPICLY major content, ie new continent, race, profession, etc… getting spoon fed bits of stuff every two weeks that is of lower and lower quality each time and can be completed in shorter and shorter periods is destroying my interest.

Personally, I liked the original Halloween. Yes it was released like LS but a little bit trickled out every couple of days… To me THAT format was SIGNIFICANTLY better.

I don’t know just want to get some honest feedback here…

Quite honestly, if I were in your shoes, I would call it quits for quite some time. You basically beat the game.

I’ve been playing since early release, have ~1600hrs logged, and have 0 legendaries, 1 ascended set, 2 ascended weapons, and a random assortment of rare skins, and only ~200 WvW rank.

Normally I’m all about telling people to make your own goals to achieve, etc., but with what you’ve listed I would say you’ve beaten the game. Take a break until new content comes out. Or pick a new MMO and play it slowly. You’ll never enjoy an MMO for long if you play hardcore all the time. Eventually you will get everything and do everything and there will be literally nothing left but log on and stare at the screen.

That’s where you are in GW2. Which is where most players would be 4 years from release, you’re way ahead of schedule.

Yeah I am sitting at about 4300 hours of play… Part of my issue is I am OCD when it comes to collecting things… that said I am very input versus output oriented… I will only input the time and effort if I feel the output will be worth it… I guess you could call it selective OCD collecting? lol

Solomon, make a Permadeath character:),I know Wooden Potates was in kinda the similar situation you are and decided to try to look at the game from a diffrent perspective .

Honestly,my personal advice would be to reduce the hours spent in game,30 hr a week can make anyone get bored, especially someone who has achieved most of his goals.

lol what is a permadeath character?

If it dies it gets deleted.

You didn’t experience the game, you just played it. That’s fine if you just want to steamroll content as it comes out. Even if, which they won’t and hope would never consider, decided on making an ‘expansion’ you would just steamroll that too. This applies to everyone posting ‘goodbye’ threads.

Try starting a new character without assistance from old characters and play again, but this time: watch the cinematics, read the dialogue, play a class you hate, join/form a new community (as you probably just joined a steamroll guild to faceroll content) and make that community flourish.

I have a level 80 of every profession. Also have made toons of every race. Completed personal stories on all. I’ve seen the cinematics… I’ve epxlored every map, done every JP, found all the “hidden” areas… and yes I stop to take screens and just admire the absolute beauty of this game… but when you have seen the same stuff over and over hundreds of times… well…

I steamroll LS content bc it is easy to do…

I’ve been a high level officer or GM in most of the major guilds on my server…

Thanks for passing judgement though!

Your post is not elitist or bragging or whatever..it is very recognizable. For me, I really find fun in helping low level and new players around in different aspects of the game.
Maybe this is what could motivate you?

Yeah I do that… ask any of my guildies I’ve given away thousands of gold and various weapons and weapon skins… Just the other day I got a new Guildie Wings of Dwayna. At one point I had 42 Black Lion Claim tickets and ran contests to give away BL skins…

I’ve always bee a very pay it forward kind of person… I get alot of joy out of helping others but still I need content to keep me motivated to log in…

Unfortunately, that’s not the way Kickstarter works.
ArenaNet would have to start the actual Kickstarter campaign. A third party has no legal right to the GW2 development process.

Correct BUT if say we got the green light from the development team just so they can see the real cash money interest, why wouldn’t we be able to bring money together to give to them to fund a full expansion?

This is stemming off from my other thread…

I think this is a legitimate question…

If someone were to make a Kickstarter to crowdfund and FULL expansion for GW2-

1) How many of you would support it if say your $30 donation allowed you the expansion download with say a bonus aesthetic in game item

2) Would the developers accept the money to do just that? Crowdfund a FULL expansion for GW2… a game that is sorely in need of some major content. Can I get a developer reply on this as this is something I am LEGITIMATELY willing to start.

Any thoughts?

Would definitely like to give more money to a game I have known and loved for the past two years for an expansion than to a new game I know little about… that said ANET isn’t willing to do that and as such they are going to be losing a lot of veteran players I think…

Take for instance this collections thing… yeah its cool. Would have been better from the start. I know I will complete a majority just by logging in… To me though it is just a time waster to keep people distracted from the fact that no major content is on the horizon which is sad…

Or you can just log in, unlock the updates and log out again. It’s not like he has to install the game.

Still doesn’t stop the practice being punitive to returning users who have paid the exact same amount as those who never left.
Butter this any way you like, it’s a repulsive practise, in the most literal meaning of the word “repulsive”.
It actively repels customers.

Or it rewards loyal customers, however you call it.

I don’t know many games that give you free content updates forever and ever on the purchase price. And since you can trade gold for gems, people coming back don’t even have to spend real cash to get those updates.

If people like that stuff, they can buy it. If they can’t they can still play the game without those specific instances and rewards.

I guess I’m a glass is half full type of guy.

I would EASILY drop $30-50 on a large expansion…

It seems the way the game has been styled it doesn’t really cater to player who can do that.

About that mini argument, yeah, but minis aren#t locked behind a RNG mechanism to get a currency (Black Lion Tickets) from which you need like 5-7 just to get 1 single item of a set of like 16 items or so.
This means, if you want a complete set for 1 of those set achioevements, you can play with the RNG god for around 80-112 Black Lion Tickets and this just for 1 single weapon set.
Now multiply this by again 16 weapon sets that the game has already = 1280-1792 Black Lion Tickets that you would need to get just all of those achievements done!

This is ridiculous. Anet must think of us, that we all must be Croesus or what.
Minis aren’t locked behind such massive RNG mechanis, there you buy just a mini pack, yes then you have rng, but you aren’t forced to have first countless of tickets just to get your mini, no you get randomly directly a mini and that for an overseeable price that doesn’t require of you to be croesus to afford yourself all of this

Ok just going to say this… as of right now… all we know are there are BL collections… we HAVE NO IDEA the context in which they will be implemented…

Breathe and wait and see before you burn your house to the ground geez…

[Suggestion]Unlockable stats on ascended gear

Solomon Darkfury.3729

i’ll say it again.

legendary gear are expensive, is due to the stupid skin.

the stat changing is a quality of life upgraded demanded by guild wars players since 8 years ago back in 2006.

source:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/smart-armor-system-v3-0-t10071643.html

No… Legendaries are expensive due to the precursor and all of the mats involved in making it…

if its for the stupid skin, then the
- stupid RNG precursor
- extremely rare tier 6 fine crafting materials
may be somewhat justified, since it is for a “super rare” vanity skin.
however, to lock basic stats changing feature behind that, is absurd.

at the moment, the grind for ascended gear, can be quite a grind, depending on the play style of the player. however, no real RNG is involved, especially since no super rare precursor is required, just lots of time gated materials.

given enough time, one will be able to afford ascended gear (weapons, armor, accessories)

so, if i craft
- ascended berserker chest armor
- ascended soldier chest armor

it is only fair that there is some special mystic forge or armor crafting method in order to combine them, so that it becomes an
- ascended berserker / soldier chest armor

it would be able to change the stats freely once unlocked step by step.

a similar process would apply for runes as well.

however, to be fair, 4 piece of runes would be needed, if an armor piece can swap between 2 stats. because,

ascended berserker chest armor of the monk
ascended berserker chest armor of water
ascended soldier chest armor of the monk
ascended soldier chest armor of the water

as more stats are added, more runes will be needed.

basically, each of our armor slots become infinite individual armor locker

“however, to lock basic stats changing feature behind that, is absurd. "

AND some people have severe case of entitlement for it.

Like the majority that have been posting to this thread…

Actually this pretty much needs to be a thing on all of their armors and heres why:

People have been talking about the fact that there is nothing in the setup to switch between gear for WvW/Underwater/PVE open world/PVE dungeons without carrying around vast amounts of gear with them and manually switching out their build.

They could easily have three – four set builds for these situations that switch automatically when a situation occurs. like swimming could switch stats on all gear spec and everything, while teleporting to the WvW maps or Eotm maps could switch again.

It would simplify the build system and it would make Wardrobe a bit more useful as you’d be able to setup these sets without a problem. They could even make it so that we could switch our bar selections for skills and elites for each set.

Well in the end it would even create ability to add option to include gear stats in builds. If they did something like that we can see in calculators it would rock to the core.

I don’t think only about armor, but all ascended gear. I think armors need it the most, but still weapons would still need some love.
Look at it this way: When you change a build you probably will change stats on all your gear, not only armors, not only weapons.

Of course I do as I stated before I have seven Legendaries and almost double that in Ascended…

Well, that explains everything. You don’t like the thought of someone getting what you have for less effort. You feel entitled to a consistently equal playing field.

I feel the same and he already said that on 1st page.
Anyway you can stop answering his posts because and you pointed:

3) Here’s an idea… rather than try and debate semantics, why don’t you try and discuss the actual points with counterpoints? Or, are you bad at debating those as well and that is why you are avoiding them?

What “actual points” are there to counter? I’ve been countering what I see. It’s not my fault you’re not exactly putting out elaborate debating points.

Do you understand the fact that you can already craft multiple ascended items and keep them on hand, effectively using them the same way you would with stat swapping?

And oh no, big deal, he exposed his “true motives” that his main concern is dealing with alts… which still comes back to him asking for one simple thing that doesn’t indicate entitlement at all: An option to unlock a set of stats for swapping that takes somewhat less effort per-desired-stat than crafting an obscene amount of ascended items (and in fact, still takes a significant amount of effort from the way he is proposing it).

There is no war to fight here. You’re hacking away at shadows.

So i see no further points debating with Solomon Darkfury.3729. If you still do feel free to do it, but reasonable facts were discussed already as I see it.

Thank you all for supporting this idea, if you have any constructive ideas to add to it please do.

Two were already pointed out: time gating swaps and NPC gating swaps that would make ascended more inferior to legendaries which is good in my opinion, because lets face it, people who want to change build or test build don’t swap stats every 3 minutes and testing builds needs some time or effort behind it).

Dude… I’m sick and tired of you running your mouth and not coming up with one single VALID counterpoint….

Your WHOLE LINE OF REASONING is “Well it’s the way it should be”

Yet you have absolutely NO counterpoint argument to when I say ANET specifically chose to go away from that…

It’s like talking to a spoiled 4 year old and asking them to explain WHY they deserve a toy from the toy store and they say “Because I do”…

Anyway, imho, no, gemstore items should never give AP.

Not shown in WP preview but it was mentioned there were collection for Black Lion weapons sets. I am personally ok with this as long as no AP is rewarded for these collections. Also I would also not support collections that reward AP from the gemstore armor skins (for example aetherblade armor skin set) because it would just lead to the highest people on the leaderboard being only those who has the largest credit cards. In a game where there is no challenges, and no challenges being developed, this would definately turn into a p2w situation. Want to be top in the leader board, forget about maxing all 8 champion titles, forget about maxing out all wvw title tracks, just slide your credit card in and buy all the ap you want.

P2W what exactly? a meaningless position on an even MORE meaningless leaderboard? Most of the top players on there share their account info with family to maximize their play time… they also do EVERY daily and monthly and spend COUNTLESS hours in PVP… unless you have been doing it from day one you will NEVER catch them unless they quit the game sorry…

Let’s look at the current system shall we? This would be crafting from scratch on ALL of them…

This is based on 150g per weapon crafted.

Well, given there are only 10-12 USEFUL stat combos…. lets say 12 for argument’s sake… you are talking MAX 1800 gold…

If he just wanted to be pedantic and have the extremely worthless combinations , that makes it a total of 18 which would be 2700 gold which is STILL slightly below most Legendaries…

I would think that his method would reduce that cost significantly…

So I still have a valid point in that he wants a weapon with Legendary capabilities for significantly less cost (and time invested which you conveniently don’t mention) which is just not going to happen…

You do understand that stat-swapping is not the only reason people craft Legendaries… right?

Of course I do as I stated before I have seven Legendaries and almost double that in Ascended…

You do realize that ANET SPECIFICALLY gave that perk to Legendaries as a distinguishing characteristic from the next tier of weapons right?

They could easily have three – four set builds for these situations that switch automatically when a situation occurs. like swimming could switch stats on all gear spec and everything, while teleporting to the WvW maps or Eotm maps could switch again.

It would simplify the build system and it would make Wardrobe a bit more useful as you’d be able to setup these sets without a problem. They could even make it so that we could switch our bar selections for skills and elites for each set.

He’s not discussing armor he wants it on weapons.

Buuuuuuuuuuuut….. he doesn’t want to spend the gold to craft additional Ascended… he wants his to have the same capabilities as a legendary for SIGNIFICANTLY less effort and he wants them because he FEELS (this is where the sense of self entitlement comes in) that he should have the ability to move them to his alts and swap the stats around… and ability that is EXCLUSIVE to Legendaries for a reason…

You are just reaching at this point. Do you have any idea how much gold it would add up to, to get an ascended weapon to the point of having every stat combo with the kind of system he’s proposing? (Here’s a hint: It wouldn’t be cheap.)

Honestly, it’s starting to sound to me like you have crafted a Legendary and you’re afraid of it being devalued.

1) Do you even KNOW the ENORMOUS difference between crafting a Legendary versus crafting an Ascended?!

2) You are incorrect later in the thread he exposes his true motives… he feels he should be able to switch the stats around so he can swap the weapons from toon to toon… Which is exactly that… a feeling of self entitlement.

In fact you should citicise your own entitlement for a change.

You feeling entitled much? Because all your posts are bad case of missguided entitlement.

Can you tell us all when this sense of missguided entitlement first appeared?

Look up the definition of entitlement then get back to me…

I worked and earned everything I have…

I didn’t ask to have something changed in the game to make it easier on me because I felt entitled to it…

Stop badmouthing me!!!
You do not know my intentions and you claim you do. You think that you know me? Really? On what bases you are badmouthing me?!

(Calmed a bit)

Well… I don’t have a problem with Ascended being BTC with switchable stats. It can happen when you add 2nd stat to the gear I don’t care. It should be a tool to adjust to build changes not to make one item to switch between multi characters….

I don’t know where did you got that from… Really, talk about total misinterpretation of words and motives. Maybe better talk about deliberate misinterpretation, at least as I see it, but that is not important…

I guess you still want to have a topic to write for the sake of just writing and saying how “you know better”, but I will stop answering you now and won’t do it again since all you need to do is sabotage the idea with no real arguments (like your 1/50 of the price).
So good luck posting with yourself , and stop badmouthing people.

Summary:
What is good is that many people wrote the idea is good and pointed it’s balanced (could be more – sure).
Sure those rich who have a lot of legendaries will feel they didn’t need to far all that hard, but they don’t loose a thing. Players who hardly made ascended will have some options when their build requests them to change chats.

The idea to make it at NPC or create timer for swaps to make it even more inferior to legendaries is nice in my opinion. I would like that too.
The fact stays that ascended should have a way to adjust to build changes so people won’t feel bad (or rage quit), after spending months on gear that becomes unusable or makes them inferior.

I never bad mouthed you… I quoted you… there is a difference… You said yourself that you wanted to be able to move the weapons around between your level 80’s thus exposing your true motives for this thread…

Also how is arguing the difference between cost and time investment between a Legendary and an Ascended not a viable argument? To ignore it acting like there isn’t a HUGE difference would mean you are delusional.

Oh and Pssssst… Sunrise is one Legendary… you are thinking of Eternity…

The AVERAGE Legendary goes for almost 3.5-4k when to craft an Ascended you are looking at 100-150 gold if that… so using simple math that is one 35th the cost at BEST… Now that isn’t even discussing the time investment which is LUDICROUSLY worse for a legendary. If you have the gold making an Ascended weapon takes all of about 5 minutes…

A Legendary requires-

1) Gift of Mastery- (Gift of Exploration, Gift of Battle, 200SP, & 250 Obis)
2) Gift of Fortune- (77 Mystic Clovers, 250 ectos, and 250 of EVERY T6 mat)
3) Gift of (weapon)- (100 Icy Runestones, Two different gifts (weapon dependent), & a Sigil)
4) The Precursor- Saving for the precursor alone in most instances is going to cost you on average 1k in gold… that’s like two weeks straight of INSANE farming for 8-12 hours a day…

In regards to your statement about “the rich”… I assume you mean the people who worked their tails off to get what they have? You do realize you are only solidifying my argument over self entitlement right?

As I said you want it… work for it like we all did… What you are asking for is something ANET INTENTIONALLY switched AWAY from to help distinguish Legendaries from the next class of weapons… they won’t reverse it…

1) He wants a capability that is exclusive to one type of item for 1/50th the effort…

2) You are wrong…. I use the phrase “sense of self entitlement” which means feeling you have the right to something…

How is this 1/50th of the effort? Gotta love hyperbole…

The idea would be to create Ascended with one stats and then by mixing it in Mystic Forge with: new ascended insignias (so market is balanced), explorable item (scavenge hunt), and some skill points (sink) to unlock that new stats on that ascended weapon.

explorable item – would be different item (or a group of items to combine in MF) from many contents in the world (gatherables/bosses/temples/dungeons/etc) that would add a bit for exploration and scavenge hunt for people who want to upgrade their gear. (!) but not a grind, more like do something not only pay for it.

And the reason you’re using it wrong is because you’re applying it to people who aren’t acting like they have a right to something. They’re just asking for something.

1) Do you even KNOW the ENORMOUS difference between crafting a Legendary versus crafting an Ascended?!

Like SERIOUSLY?! Here’s an idea… you want it… do what EVERYONE one else did and work for it… to sit there and expect get something that gives you the same capabilities as something else for 1/50th the effort is appalling… to even TRY to claim it isn’t a sense of entitlement is a joke…

Except that if you would read the OP, you’d see that he’s not asking for something for nothing… he’s asking for something for something.

But I guess you just want an excuse to rant about your apparently favorite reason for what’s wrong with MMOs these days.

Also, you are using and abusing the word “entitlement.” What entitlement is, is when people feel they have a “right” to something. That’s not the same as asking for something or desiring it. I can ask for a cookie from the cookie jar without feeling entitled to one. It’s a very distinguishable difference in attitude.

1) He wants a capability that is exclusive to one type of item for 1/50th the effort…

2) You are wrong…. I use the phrase “sense of self entitlement” which means feeling you have the right to something…

I just checked through your post history. You really sure that you want to take that position, especially in such a rude and aggressive manner?

Excuse me? Checked my post history? Stalker much? Who does that?

Oh wait I am sorry are we not allowed to express opinion here?

Am I not allowed to say people with a sense of entitlement are toxic to the MMO environment as whole?

Am I not allowed to point out that ANYONE who thinks they should be handed stuff for just logging in should not be playing an MMO?

Can I not say that it is a ridiculous idea to think there are people in this world who point to things that others have worked UNBELIEVABLY hard for and said “It’s not fair they have those I want something that is functionally the same and not do the work for it!”

PUHLEASE!

Get this through your heads… ANET SPECIFICALLY changed Legendaries to change stats on the fly to DIFFERENTIATE them from (the at the time top tier) exotics…

Now the entitled who don’t want to put in the effort to get said items are clamoring to get that reversed and those that have them are to sit idly by and let it happen? Sorry but not on my watch…

As I said before I have TONS of ascended I would LOVE to have with switchable stats but NOT at the cost of diminishing the Legendaries… to do so would belittle all the hard work that people have put into making them…

There are a TON of EPIC exotic skins (I can name a couple of dozen at least with particle effects) people can craft for a quarter the cost of most legendaries then for 100g slap the skin onto an ascended and that’s still not enough… now you want to take the ONE differential that Legendaries have and that is switching stats on the fly? To do so would be APPALLING…

PS: I don’t think Ascended should be able to swap stats. Reserve that for Legendary items. We need stuff to strive towards in the game. It allows us to set ourselves some goals.

Cause crafting a full set of ascended armor and weapons isn’t a goal to strive for…?

This isn’t about changing a toon’s build… this is the selfish need to want to have an account bound weapon with adjustable stats that you can switch between your level 80’s… your post is about your sense of self entitlement… Gotcha!

The game already has that… it’s called a Legendary… stop expecting everything to be handed to you on a silver platter… go and do the work to get it or just buy exotics end of story…

Since when is wanting something automatically a sense of entitlement? …what?

Throw a completed Ascended weapon with an inscription with different stats into the mf, and you unlock the ability to change to those stats. Seems like a fair compromise to me.

Agreed. For those who are thinking this is a request for a hand out, the OP talked about an extra hoop like this that you have to jump through… for every single stat set that you want.

I think that’s more than fair, if not too much work. We are talking about a process that would still be expensive and time-consuming – just somewhat less so than crafting the pieces a billion times over for every toon and purpose.

Wanting something for nothing is exactly that, a sense of entitlement…

There is an issue with stats tied to grindy equipment:

Lets for example thing i am enojying my celestial character…..
A “feature patch” arrives and suddenly my hard earned equipment becomes useless for my build.

Repeat every X months.

In the past a stats Exchange scroll was datamined, we would really need some of those :|

And they should give free stats change after every “feature patch”
(aka nerf patch).

They did that for anyone who had celestial gear and magic find gear… allowed them to switch the stats…

Is there any reason why you refuse to address my counterpoint to your 5% argument?

Simple as that I don’t care for 5% or 10% or even 15%, but I care for stat combinations that I wear and the fact I can’t change builds when I want to try to be condi mesmer than a zerker mesmer or I want to WvW and sentinels work a lot better on my ranger in there.

I made 11 characters lvl 80 so I refuse to make ascended for them. It’s not worth of time with this many characters I play, and I play most of them in rotation cause it’s fun. Yet some changes are for good and some are for bad, so I would need redo a lot of gear after changes simply because I don’t believe zerk gear is good for all.
To get an elastic solution so I might have goals and the feeling of being able to adjust to changes is what I need in GW2 more than anything.

AAAAAHHHHHH so now your true motive comes to light….

Or present a way to reaquire the skin if it was “misplaced”?

aaaaaaaaannnnnnd that’s the reason they changed it… so Legendaries would be their own tier and be separated from the pack…

So basically you want people who have legendaries feel better than others just because they have them and you don’t care or all others that struggle with builds and changes to traits and all that.

Thats so really…. wise…
I hope you will someday look what you represent.

now now… stop trying to turn me into an elitist because that I DEFINITELY am not… I share my good fortune not only with guildies and friends but with random strangers as well… I believe in a Pay it forward attitude… I try to do one good deed a day in game and I tell people to NEVER pay me back to just pay it forward to someone in need one day… I think I represent all that is good in MMO player culture to be honest… I am just a pragmatist when it comes to things like this and I believe that Legendaries should mean something. All of that effort should allow you to have something that is more than JUST a skin. A legendary takes 5-10 times the effort of an ascended and yet you want ascended to be on par with them and I think that is just not right sorry…

Well if you say on par when you would need a lot of time and effort to unlock each new stat combos? Well… Thats something strange.
Besides legendaries were legendaries when you weren’t able to buy them on TP just for cash, so that 5-10 times means just more time to grind and that it essentially what people do. There is nothing special in gear you can easily buy if you just spend hours grinding. Having additional goals to horizontally extend your items usability – that is something worth playing for.

I refuse to grind without a reason and from that comes my point of view.
Since as you said you have 7 legendaries – you come from different part of the game (and I understand why you don’t want to feel loss of time if your legendaries would became almost nothing more than ascended with skins).

I believe that people should be able to adjust to traits changes with their gear.
I also believe that players should have additional goals than farming gold for legendaries or farm gold for precursors/materials for legendaries – basically looking for spots to farm better and faster.

The system i described would not only add o lot of variety and needed horizontal progression but would answer to people who are bored and brain dead from farming.
Yes, me included, I’m bored by playing and would welcome some goals to get instead of grind I’m sick off.

Farmers will always farm anyway…

Is there any reason why you refuse to address my counterpoint to your 5% argument?

As YOU said 5% stat difference… It is for gear grinders… people who want top tier stats and be able to easily grind them out.

That SAID your logic is flawed… yes it is 5% BUT you are not including infusions… if they WvW infusions make a HUGE difference… If they run fractals, infusions make a HUGE difference

Also another thing… if they are a WvWer… believe it or not that 5% for some builds makes a MASSIVE difference… if you can survive in a fight for a couple of extra seconds it makes ALL the difference in the world…

I currently have 7 legendaries, 5 toons in FULL ascended gear and all using ascended or better weapons… trust me when I say my opinion is an educated one on the usefullness of how ascended is currently implemented…

Would I love the idea of being able to switch around my ascended stats? Sure I would… Do I think it warrants diminishing the tier of Legendaries? GOD NO… In no way shape or form should Ascended EVER have the same capabilities of a legendary…

You mention that Legendaries were once exotic level of stats by quoting the other guy… yet you fail to realise that is PRECISELY why they were changed because they deserve to be MORE than a skin… ANET has already changed it AWAY from a type that you want and you want them to change it back and I’m sorry that just won’t happen…

Essentially you want a Weapon with Legendary stats and capabilities for like one tenth the cost…

ummm no…. that’s a horrible idea…

Well, to be fair, that’s exactly what legendaries were before ascended weapons came out. Extremely expensive weapons with the same stats and capabilities as exotics.

Today we got some UI shuffling for minis and finishers… Meh. Not breaking anything afaik, but underwhelming.

And the other announcements this week are “collections” and “trading”. They’ve already announced some small crafting changes, so maybe there will be other UI changes to collections tab. Trading will be AT BEST 1:1 secure trading and changes to the TP (armor type filter, etc).

So with that, we have an end to the feature pack. Lets run down the features again, shall we?

The Good:

Short 4-week WvW tourney. Pretty cool.

Account-bound color-coded commander tags. Ok I guess.

Balance changes- some good, some bad.

Fixing mega servers- right on.

No more dungeon owners- no more d/c restarts.

Crafting UI improvements.

MAYBE trading post improvements.

The Meh:

UI shuffles that don’t do much.

Leveling weapons.

Yet another set of back pieces.

Another wvw trap no one will use.

The Bad:

Balance changes (again, some good, some bad).

New leveling system nobody asked for- no downed state until level 5? Really?

Profession loot- more useable loot is a GOOD goal, but this is not the way. (All classes are equal, but some are more equal than others…)

And let’s not forget we’re not getting:

-fixes to the precursor market (precursor crafting)

-removal of hobo sacks

-the SAB (just turn it back on as-is!)

-a real fix to cloth prices

-various camera fixes and/or first person

Overall, the update is more good than bad, but probably not 3-week-announcement worthy. That said, these next 2 days may hold surprises…

Clearly you have never even set foot in WvW…

Let me clarify some things…

1) For the hardcore WvW people 4 weeks is OK but the lack of lockout for current matchup is APALLING and will cause RAMPANT cheating… Anet knows this and doesn’t care because they want to drive gem sales for server transfers…

2) The colored commander tags are a GODSEND and something we have been asking for for TWO YEARS… so no, they are not just… ok…

3) The trap is STUPIDLY overpowered and will see MASSIVE usage… A trap that acts like a grenade WITH A RANGE OF 1200 and with an AOE of 400 that shuts down a Golem for 20 seconds and other seige for 45? LOL you can MELT a golem in that time and 45 seconds of rams being disabled allows a defensive zerg to show up and slaughter people… To sit there and say it won’t get used is borderline idiotic and a testament to your lack of knowledge

4) You didn’t even mention Golem Mastery. Golems explode, eject you safely causing knockback and stun AOE on all enemies around and you are stealthed and invulnerable? TROLOLOLOL ALL of my toons have points WAITING to max this tree out lol

All in all no offense but I take your post with a grain of salt
