Im loving gw2, but i liked gw1 alot better. the story was better and i also loved the heroes. and being able to have 2 professions and the way the skills were. i havent played 1 in years and i can still remember character names and heroes and alot of the story. i cant hardly remember any peoples names from this games story except maybe 5 lol. but dont get me wrong its a great game, but nowhere near as good as the first one to me. the exploration is what makes this game fun for me.
I dont know if this has been suggested, but can we please get some sideburns facial hair for the humans and norn please. i would like to see short ones, medium ones, long ones and also some lambchop sideburns. also some mixes on goatees with sideburns to please.
oh great news thanks for that info colin thats one of the main things ive been wanting to see fixed in the game. i dont get headaches from playing, but i do get nausaua so bad that it seems to last for most of the day even when im done playing.
A list of changes that I've thought of to improve the game...

wont being able to inspect lead to “your not good enough to play on my team?” i dont agree with that. it makes a new person feel like they are not good enough because they havent got the best stuff. its already hard enough to find a group without having them wanting to make sure you have what they want before you can play with them.
i have to agree with the hp’s thing. even when theres like 20 people fighting something and it takes so long. i keep thinking to myself yeah yeah i get it already. take about half the hp’s off stuff so when i get old and looking back on my life wondering where did it all go i wont remember the hours of it wasted attacking bosses in gw2 when that time coulda been spent on something else. loving the game, but i will agree on this.
i like the idea of it and mostly how it looks, but i dont like using a spear or whatever the melee weapons are because itll move out of range and ill have to swim up to it often bypassing it having to turn around and getting in range. i think i spend most of my time trying to get it to attack the enemy then actually fighting the enemy lol.
love the list especially the camera ones. heres some id like to see fixed also.
Audio
- give random npcs more things to say
- add 3-5 different sayings to your characters so you wont hear them say the same stuff all the time. like in some skills (other then ones that specfically say yells out “???”), when dieing, finding new spots, doing combos and all that type of stuff.
i cant wait to see the crystal desert with the updated style graphics. i just wish they would go a step further and make snow and sand have the same walking effects as it did in journey. or uncharted 3 if you ever played that level where your lost in the desert. has a mmo ever did that yet? gw 2 could be the first! but yeah crystal desert should be awesome.
is this the reason i sometimes feel nauseous when playing this? not just the looking at the ground thing, but the other camera related stuff people are also talking about in this thread? especially doing jumping puzzles or having to turn alot to attack stuff? because ive played alot of mmo’s and never got nauseous before. or maybe it is something else.
the other day i fell off a cliff and my hp went to 1 and i was like whew. then i got up and turned around and an enemy was next to me and i died.
i love the map exploration also and will try to do events along the way if i can solo them, but sometimes i cant and noones around to help so i just skip by them.
i believe a good game company should never say “dont waste time on that because noone is gonna care about it.” because those small things add more realism to games which makes games better to me.
id like to know about this to. i just made a new character and im trying my best not to die hoping to get this achievment mine is staying at 0 also. ive heard the monthly one resets on death which ive gotten it and can say thats the truth. but i heard the one under the hero tab you have to get without ever dieing at all.
so i guess im asking if its broken and i do get over 500k for it before i die will i get credit when they fix it. or if its broke and they wont be able to tell if i got it or not when it gets fixed can i relax a bit and not worry about if i die or not.
id like to know stuff like this as well, and fun things like what is the most played race and profession so far. or what is the most used crafting job. other then the cursed shore what is the most played area. just fun stats stuff like that.
ive been 80 on my ranger for awhile now, and id like to be able to buy the more expensive armors but staying in orr farming risen is just so boring to me that it makes me wonder if ill ever take the time to farm enough gold or karma to get any of the end game stuff. to me what would change this is if maybe they added in a hard mode like in gw1 and let me start over and replay all the heart quests and areas over again. it would remove having to stay in one area just because thats where the best stuff drops. it would let me experience all the areas including my favorite ones all over again with the chance of being able to get good stuff without having to only do the higher end zones.
best thing ive seen in this game so far is the event where an asura is trying to build a ettin suit. that was the funniest thing ive come across in this game. and also one of the rare occasions i felt interested enough to hang around an event to see what was gonna happen next.
i could be wrong, but sometimes ill hear a random charr guy say something about “false gods” which could be a reference to teal’c from stargate sg-1 which he says from time to time. it sounds alot like him to.
i dunno if they could do it or not. maybe when things slow down a bit for them, but it would be cool if they had like a new dynamic event of the week when they add patches would be cool. add new ones and remove old ones that dont get done much. have some new ones that offer special stuff only for that event then remove it after so long. also id like to have more heart quests in the game.
i wanna see masks and hats and maybe since we have this new in town only clothes that they will make whole costumes.
im kinda like you op. im not much into pvp at all. also i felt the same way you do now about the wvw map completion. when i first tried it out i was on the blue team which hardly controlled anything and i felt very discouraged seeing as how this could probally take a longgg time to get all the map points. so i got what i could that wasnt controlled by the other teams and thought hmmm i wonder if i switch servers would it put me on another team that owns stuff. and it did and i completed the rest of 1 zone that day and 3 of the other 4 wvw zones the next day so it wasnt that bad. and after running with a big group it also showed me that it wasnt to hard to get the monthly wvw requirement thing also.
I feel that this game isn’t as exciting as Guild Wars 1 was.
Repair costs and waypoint travel fees are dragging down the gameplay experience for me personally. I mean we didn’t have that baloney in Guild Wars 1.
We could travel to any city for free and there were like 100 cities. Now we have 500 waypoints instead but they nickel and dime you to fast-travel. It’s just annoying.
i agree here. i also loved the story in gw1 better. it kept me wanting to know what was gonna happen next. i just dont feel that here. the fun im getting out of this game is all about the exploration which is really fun.
i see some people like the mountain areas, im more into the wooded and jungle type areas, but when i think back to all the areas i can remember the names of i enjoyed the most was timberline falls. it is pretty nice.
maybe they are trying to say that if you can see more then the person who cant especially in pvp you have an advantage over them. like when you can see people to the side of you without having to turn and look that it wouldnt be fair to the person who cant see whats on the side of them without having to turn. but i do agree it would be nice to have.
being that i cant ever hardly find anyone to do group events or anyone to help me in the later zones i would suggest bringing back my favorite gw 1 feature which was the heros. but i guess they would have to also make the instances for only one group also which would be fine for me. the game is great, but i do miss the heroes almost everytime i log in. they would be good for dungeons also not having to wait around to join a group.
being 80 for awhile now has made me wish the cap would be increased also. even if it didnt change anything about your character other then the level number. it would give me a sense of im still accomplishing something with my character while im trying to explore and get stuff for better armor and weapons. maybe once you get to 80 it could start up a type of reward levels that would give a reward for every ten levels past 80 you reach. and to avoid any confusion with new players who know that 80 is the max level have these extra levels maybe off to the side of your 80 level number or level number depending on the area your in at the moment.
yeah ive been doing both i was just curious if one or the other was more important to have more of then the other.
could someone help me out on the differences to these two please? im not sure what to focus on more. for example when i finish a heart quest and the heart giver has a ascessory with more power and the next heart giver has one with more precision which would be better?
power is straight damage right?
precision is a chance of critical hit?
thanks to any replies.
ive only made 1 character so far. a level 80 ranger i have played for 213 hours. i havent tried out pvp or wvw at all yet. will try them out eventually but atm im trying to get 100% exploration and still havent finished my story yet.
the only thing i dont like about the heart system is that i like to read as much of the dialogue as i can except for the zones that my characters storyline doesnt take me to so ill have something fresh to experience when i choose another race and story that takes me to those zones. and sometimes ive had a heart quest pop up and an event near it or something and ill complete the quest before i get to read the heart givers dialogue. so i wouldnt get the background on it.
i agree here as well. i rarely change my dye set because of having to change back to my favorite setup when a new one doesnt please me for long.
i dont like this dr thing either. last night i did a whole area which im pretty much doing one area daily. i got that dr message like 4 times and i wasnt farming anything but merely killing enemies on my way to each exploration point and just exploring. so i guess im being punished for playing the game as intended.
Im loving this game. the only thing i miss from gw 1 is the ability to have the heros like mhenlo and them join your group. the one thing i probally dislike most about mmos is trying to find groups. sitting around trying to find a group to do some hard area waiting and asking for a group then just giving up because im not the certain type of character or have the right gear to join a group. and also when in groups i feel like whos the leader or the follower am i doing what im supposed to, or maybe i wanna go this way and you wanna go that way. its just to much so i mostly travel solo. but gw 1 was so great in that aspect. you could grab a group of heros who imho was always better then any group i was ever in because of the above things i didnt have to worry about. i could just grab and go and not wait around for groups.
Heres some things i would like to see.
- more areas to explore
- a journey style effect when walking through snow and sand.
- armor and weapons show wear and tear as the durability decreases.
- more quests
- ability to buy an increase to the cap on collections.
- more tameable pets
- more minipets
- more achievements
I noticed earlier when i heard some charr mentioning “false gods” it reminded me of teal’c from stargate sg-1 and kinda sounded like him to. so i guess christopher judge would of been a good voice actor for some of the charr characters.
ok so to get all 4 of the example you described id need 4 runes of the centaur? i get it makes sense thanks.
I noticed some of my upgrades will have like 1/4 beside them and may have 4 different stats and im just curious as to how this works. does it mean i can add up to 4 to that one upgrade although it already has 4 or can i replace one of the four i think this is the only thing about thisgame im confused about thanks to any help.
i dunno if this has been mentioned, but i just recently tried it and found it really helpful which is making a easy to get to hotkey for “show all enemies” on the map. it helps alot in finding hard to see crafting nodes or when looking to see if any tameable animals are in the area. and of course it helps alot to see how many enemies may be ahead of you and what types they are.
Im loving this game. what i think i love most about it is exploring the zones and getting 100% in each area. then once im done with an area the excitement of walking toward the portal to the next zone wondering what type of landscapes and creatures the next area will have in it. theres other stuff i love about this game to, but that is what i love most about gw2 is the exploration.
When i saw the trailor on the main page i thought oh i bet this will be some really cool cinematic style video for the game so i was excited to check it out. so i clicked it and no offense but i thought the first half of it was really corny and to me made no sense. if ive never heard of guild wars and saw that on tv i wouldnt be interested in checking out this game at all.
im loving this game myself. although im not sure im ready to says its better then the first one yet if ever. i miss having mhenlo and all them in my party whenever im about to go exploring. but i will say out of the 20-30 mmos ive played that guild wars 1, age of conan, and now this one is the only ones that i havent gotten bored with before i even max my first character. i guess after youve played so many games like this its basically all the same like a madden game with a new feature added in that wasnt in the previous games that supposedly will changed the way mmo’s are played, but basically its the same old thing in every mmo. still though on a mmo rating scale this will get a 8/10 from me mostly by graphics and fun factor. at first i kinda felt overwhelmed being a type of player who likes to do every possible thing and talk to every possible npc ect…. but its not so bad now. or like when walking along and getting a event near me feeling like i have to stop what im doing to be a part of it or i feel like i may miss something, but ive gotten pass that to now. so anyway gw 2 rocks and is great and i can see myself playing thorugh all the professions at least once.
i get tired of hearing my ranger say “eat my dust” all the time. i wish each character had like 10 random different things for every thing they say like that so it wouldnt be so repetitive and stuff.
Can someone tell me what the dialogue options are for that i get at times. like when you can answer with a crown or heart or whatever and something else. i remember choosing the option as charming i think, but im just curious as to what effect they have if any on the story or anything else in the game thanks.
Just curious if this is normal or a bug. would be nice to be able to name all your pets different names.
Thanks for the tips. number 6 really helps alot being able to auto send all your mats to your collections in one click. also i didnt know about the kneeling at statues for boons. i think gw 1 had that didnt it? but im gonna try it thanks again.
