Superior rune of durability was meta in pvp before it got removed but it still exists in wvw, I would opt for that myself. The traits you can pretty much copy from pvp aswell and adjust depending on the situation. As sigils I would have atleast sigil of hydromancy, air and possibly some other weaponswap sigils/on crit. For gear probably some pieces of berserker and some marauder. Itä think revs have enough toughness/armor with just the rune.

the fact that you cannot use them is okay. The fact that they disapear from existence is not imho.

This is not a simple transform we talk about, this is the core mecanic of the class where you can spend half a fight in.

They are not there, they can’t give passives if they are not on the bar. And if they were, there would be no sense not to be able to use them. And if that happend, why not let other utility skills work too? And so on, and so on. You don’t lose passive effects in Shroud, you lose the effects from the utility bar since it disappears.

It’s like that for almost 4 years. My bet is that it won’t change. Especially today when Necros are beeing nerfed, not buffed.

With this logic minions should actually disappear too while you enter shroud since they are utilities that are kinda passives with active cooldowns on use integrated into them. Kinda funny that even after 4 years shroud still has some weird mechanical flaws.

I’m seeing more and more staff tempest roamers in WvW.
And they are surprisingly pretty strong!
I fought one staff ele at the end of the vid and one ele in the mid that I couldn’t tell what weapon he was using =/ dagger + something?

How did the tempests and I do this time?

He is using dagger+focus.

Just to give my 2 cents

TCG did what they were supposed to do. If we are playing football/basketball/baseball and your best player gets injured and go on. No one stops to say hey its not fair.

No one said last year in the NBA finals, hey cavs its ok we will wait for kevin love and Irving to get healthy so we can play. TCG did what they needed to do and i prefer the decision they made.

On one of the posts, you said have 1 player in spectate mode. I disagree since thats another pair of eyes to watch and chat on rotations, cant have that. Obviously they took a break to find a sub which they did not have. Once again that comes down to a roster issue which many of these video game ESPORTS have issues with.

Any expecting helseth or those followers of his to have to sportsmanship to afk during a game are deluded and cant of interacted with them much in game. The french guys in his team have made repeated racist comments in gw2 pvp chat before with no punishment. Helseth himself basically has the role of gw2 bully and is lauded by anet who apparently support his type of behavior which involves demeaning and abusing anyone he interacts with on gw2.

So yeh. Anyone thinking these people would play fair are hilarious. Not going to happen

Im only commenting from the competitive PRO league aspect.

Lets just say we are on a team and we are competing and the other team has a dc. We could be respectful stand out guys. I would still say no we have to take this. In game chat would look like “sorry for your dc” but i would do the same thing.

If your playing for a state,district, national championship, world championship you have to go for it. In MMA if you see a guys eye is swollen, your going to attack him on that side of the eye.

Thats just how it goes sometimes, now TCG kind of being the thugs of EU. Every PRO scene needs it villains so i guess that what it is.

Its not really villains though. I don’t think any game is helped by people just being rude and horrible to everyone they interact with in the game. People need to learn that interacting over the internet like on gw2 is just like interacting in real life. It just uses the medium of the internet. Certain people should remember that when they are horrible to a screen-name on gw2 they are actually being horrible to a person.

Either way, these issues shouldn’t exist. Anet don’t have the infrastructure to cope with these issues and they haven’t created a game that is good to watch either. So they are spending $200k to market the game but this marketting will have negative effects because all these tournaments do is highlight the flaws in guild wars 2.

Just my 2 cents on this issue. Grow a thicker skin, you’ll get hurt ALOT in both irl and on the internet if you’re that sensitive. People can be really cruel irl and are, that’s just the nature for some. I mean you read news right, you can see all the horrible kitten happening around the globe and no-one bats an eye when their life is all good. Now on to the disconnection issue, even in dota2 (which has millions in the scene and is easily the most funded esport out there) there is a pause and remake function but the pause time on most tournaments is limited. Remakes are only made if the connection issues are with the dota2-server or all players are affected by it and agree to remake. I’ve seen dota2 teams play with 4 players in way more valuable tournaments than gw2 proleague. This is why the finals are lans so issues like this don’t exist. kitten happens with online games and connections all the time just have to get over it.

Only way I can see revenant without weapon swap working would be to add different weapon skills to every legend. So when you swap a legend you don’t only swap utilities but aswell weapon skills even though you’re still equipping the same weapon/s.

Weapon swap is really useful in pvp. So no thanks. Only professions not having weapon swap are engi and elementalist and this only because ele has attunements and engi has kits. I don’t see any reason to remove weapon swap from revenant, rather just buff other weapons for pve to deal equal dmg with sword mainhand.

I would LOVE GS for revenant.

Pistol I would say no too b/c you already have hammer as your ranged weapon set.

We have hammer as a POWER weapon. Its fairly bad for a condi build.
Pistols serves as condi weps for thieves and engineers.

Let me correct you abit here, only engineers use pistols as condi weapons. For thieves D/D is condi build and pistols are power weapons.

Originally this topic was going to have an ‘Equalizer’ theme to it with some songs synced to my pip bar. But with the addition of win streaks(+2 pips) and getting through the Divisions a lot quicker than I anticipated, I set up the 186 screenshots to some epic build up music.

A couple things to take note:

  • My third match I took a screenshot but didn’t realize I was on the wrong pane so you can’t see my pip bar so I left that one out.
  • Somewhere around Ruby and twice in Diamond I forgot to take a screenshot at the end of the match. Fortunately, those 3 missed screenshots were losses. So you can still see that every advancement was done solo.

So in all, I played 190 games and lot’s of salt was thrown around as you can see in the chat box throughout my journey.

I’m curious at later portions of diamond you seem to be using mm-build with scepter and dagger, care to share what kind of build you used? I see alot of mm-necros running around but they are usually power builds.

Marks work just fine on crystal hibernation, atleast the staff 5, why would you use anything else except it or warhorn 4 on rev when he is channeling ch? Interrupt and rekt them. Also how is this possible a necro crying about rev’s? We eat revs alive thanks to our new corrupts. Try playing a rev before you cry and you realize it will take really good player to beat a necro on a rev and then it’s deserved win.

Condition Revenant, unless you’re fighting coordinated team. Less reliant on others, provides Resistance for allies in teamfights which can carry hard against condition-heavy PUGs. Bullies Reapers (PA Resistance gain scales) and DHs in any teamfight, annihilates Power Revenants. Perfect counter to new Condition Mesmer, almost impossible to lose that 1v1. You shouldn’t 1v1 decent Reapers and be aware of Thieves, though.

What kind of build should I use for condition rev? weapons mace+axe and sword+shield, traits corruption, retribution and herald? What rune and amulet?
Edit: I’ve been playing power rev, i started playing it abit before the season 2 and I’ve gotten decently good with it, playing devastation, invocation and herald.

So, i see many ppl complaining rev is too easy to play
…..from my experience it really isnt that easy, as im downed by condis within seconds from lack of condi removal, and rev heals are total garbo. Unrelentimg assault tends to miss almost every single hit from like 2 dodges lol. So, whats ur opinion? Challenging or easy?

Probably easy to burst ppl down at really low skill, but to master the class and be truly effective to its full potential I would say one of the hardest classes in the game. I play necro, engi and revenant in pvp, and I would say that revenant is the hardest to really play well with, granted I main necro and the current meta scrapper is just kitten durable so you can make few mistakes and still survive heavy focus.

I would add to Engineer the same thing about rez, but only without so long cooldown(20s) and without teleport but can still start rez at range while you move to the downed ally. Function Gyro is really strong, even though many haven’t realized it yet. With sneak gyro engi is borderline broken in terms of resurrecting downed allies.

I play a zerk sd teef and am critting these clickers necros 600 either buff me or nerf them a zerk teef is not supposed to be hitting 600 to a class that can basically condi blast me and still be sustainable

Uh, did they happen to have “Rise!” up? Sounds like a scenario of not being knowledgeable enough…

To me it sounds more like that they were running curses with the weakening shroud grandmaster trait. Weakness causes fumble(=glancing blows) so you will only do 50% of regular damage and lose any critical damage. And if the Reaper uses “Rise” shout aswell then theres 50% damage reduction even before weakness.
EDIT: Now that i checked the OPs posting history I realized that it’s pointless to explain, the guy is just trolling with these threads.

1v1 vs thief is easy, in a teamfight if you have thief on you then it gets annoying. For 1v1, just drop some of the marks around you, don’t STACK them though because he can dodge them all at once if they are stacked. Also Rune of Nightmare is pretty much the best rune you can have against thieves. If you’re playing some weird power gs build then be sure to spam blind as much as possible(gs 4 and shroud 2).

I think Jebro mentioned Toker running Invocation instead of Retribution and he had marauder amulet but don’t know about the rune and the exact traits in Herald or Invocation. I use cruel repercussion instead of cleansing channel in invo and hardening persistence instead of radiant revival in herald because resurrecting doesn’t get so much value in soloqueue.

Electro-Whirl reflects missiles, just like the defense field from your bulwark gyro toolbelt skill. You used one of those reflecting his own skill back to him.

Two things that bother me with this. Firstly, we need to invest a trait for them to be unblockable, ok I’m fine with this since they create alot of lifeforce (which is the reason anyone uses the staff to begin with). Secondly, marks are easily dodgeable since you can actually SEE them on the ground. Staff is an utility weapon not a dps weapon. Most of necros condi-dmg come from shroud 4, scepter 1&3 and from the various chill procs we get via traits, i would say 20% of our condition dmg comes from the staff.

I do wonder where the “blind can be cleared by condi clear” comes from – it can’t be cleared.

and i got my kitten handed to me the first two games
until i decided to Check the snap cast to target box
then i was rolling my index finger through 1 to 5 over and over and collecting free kills
how can necro claim they have a speck of skill when they basically exploit an aimbot that makes them land aoe groudn skills automatically its ridiculous how easy i was slapping people with condies.

This just proves that you play against potato-mmr or something because against more skillful players you never land marks with the snap to target because of movement and and casttime on the marks(+some delay sometimes). I tried it once and my god how awful it felt, i guess it takes practice to learn to place marks without the aimbot.

We would have 4 targets chill application at 600 range every 9 seconds.
It’s better than the alternative of Superior Sigil of Hydromancy and Superior Sigil of Ice

Did you even read the wiki-post you linked? Because Snowball doesnt even inflict chill, only blind for 2 seconds.
The snowballs can critically hit and will only select enemies in a cone AoE in front of the player.

The skill performed by the sigil is called Snowball and has the following facts:
Damage Damage: 37 (0.15)?
Next outgoing attack misses; stacks duration. Blind (2s): Next outgoing attack misses.
Range: 600

E: So why would anyone use this instead of hydromancy ever?

I just had this happen on my engi, was 1v1ing ranger on Henge and he knocked me inside of a pillar. Also if I relogged I would’ve gotten dishonor+lose pips. I posted a topic of this on the bug-forum didn’t notice any posts about this on there on the first page.

In some pvp maps you get knocked inside of a wall or pillar if you’re unlucky, this bug has been in the game for ages, could you fix it on the upcoming patch of 26th? Forest of Niflhel is atleast one of the maps where u can get knocked inside of a pillar on Henge-point. Please look into it.

Celestial getting removed. Pls don’t, ruining the only viable amulet for me on my main(necro). I’ve tried plenty of different amulets in pvp but I always come back to celestial since it has little bit of the defensive and offensive stats i want: vitality, toughness, power, precision and condition damage. If you’re going to remove celestial please make 5stat-amulets, 4 stats aren’t enough or atleast there isn’t enough combinations of stats for those.

I can solo lord with 3 medium skilled enemy players in room(better without reapet and revenant) final stomp with fun gyro + toss elixir b and slick shoes around to prevent them from ress :-)

Stomping Lord? I think you’re confusing the lords in this discussion. I assume you’re talking about stronghold lord and the op is talking about lord in Legacy of the Foefire. In foefire u don’t need to stomp the lord. And about soloing, the stronghold lord is much easier than the one in foefire, I have some trouble on my scrapper aswell but it’s doable.

If you are planning on doing raids you shouldn’t even consider taking soul reaping in the first place, blood magic is way better for group support and even dps. This is of course if you’re the only reaper in the group, if someone else is already providing Vampiric presence then feel free to pick up soul reaping. Currently though dps-wise seems like condi reaper is better than power reaper, you should only be power reaper if you’re the tank of the raid. There’s different variations of condi builds flying around, even depending on the boss fight you have to swap out some traits/utilities.

As I’ve played both classes in spvp (reaper main, scrapper engi alt), I would say for you to best way to approach is just to kite him and pump out those conditions until he starts to blow his defensive cooldowns. If he gets the sneak gyro out try to just cleave it with reaper shroud+also u can try to predict his movement. The gyro will follow him quite closely and the stealth doesnt last too long after he leaves the aoe of sneak gyro/self destroys it/you destroy it. If you use warhorn and perplex runes in wvw like the old necro used to then try to interrupt him before he goes for burst combo or if he is low interrupt before he uses his healing skill/ some other defensive skill. They don’t have too much condicleanse, varying ofc on the build and dont have much ranged tools. (I don’t know actually what kind of build scrappers use in wvw but I assume it’s pretty similar to spvp-metabuild)

Reaper is superior in almost every single way compared to basic necro. I can’t think of a reason why anyone would/should play basic necro if they own HoT and are able to get elite specializations. Sure shroud takes some time to get used to but once you do you won’t switch back ever.

Even base necro has enough disengage if u equip the proper utilities, ie. spectral walk and flesh wurm. Especially flesh wurm is really awesome to escape dire situations pretty much instantly if u placed ur flesh wurm wisely within the 1200 range.

Interesting build, will try it. I still think the heal minion is absolute garbage. Being a ranged minion, if it dies from random AoEs the poison field won’t do much. I would take “Your soul is mine” instead, especially with the shout trait: better heal on shorter CD with life force on top, you can’t go wrong with it.

Don’t forget they changed how aoe damage works with minions. It’s greatly reduced against AOE attacks, same against single target attacks. Unless someone wants to waste a burst or eviscerate on your minion, your gonna have it up pretty constantly, especially with the heals you pump out. if they DO focus your minion with single target skills, well, that’s damage mitigation too…

The minion change only applies to pve-content afaik.
