Making gold is relatively easy, deciding where to spend it is not. Buy mats, or farm them? Then do you hoard them and make less gold or sell it all and buy em back later at low buy orders? It’s all preference really. Farming Orr is a good idea as well. What I also do is watch the event timers on guildwars2temple or whatever it’s called and farm every chest every day that I play and it’s basically 10+ free rares for selling or farming ectos to sell/keep what ever floats your boat.
I wear nothing but the dyed pink Halloween witch hat on my norn female and I’m pretty happy. No need to spend on town clothes you wear 1% of the time you play.
Well I haven’t gotten one yet, but my character is at a point now that I’m satisfied as to not buy anymore gear or weapons or spend gold in general, except for here and there, so the gold and materials are flowing in now. It really isn’t so bad after all and I’ll probably be able to just buy precursor soon as well. Will I regret any of it? No. Not at all. Just takes a little patience and that’s cool with me.

I remember they were cool back in the beta and early post-release days, but I don’t really see anyone run spirit weapon focused builds anymore due to the fact that they are just sub par in most scenarios, be it pve or pvp. Now don’t get me wrong they have their uses in specific situations like dungeons for example you can use bow to cleanse conditions for your group but PoV does it better still IMHO.
Hammer is #1 choice if any guards roll one and it’s exclusively for the knockback. Pretty nice actually if hammer actually hits but it’s just so friggin slow. Just my perspective. Hope that helps. You may find others with different opinions on the matter here.
If traited for it, Virtues (including all shouts and many weapon skills) will heal you like the bees knees in times if dire need. Respect the virtues and the virtues will respect you. Word.
Free to play games = not fun or cheap to get good stuff (hello gem store). Pay to play = you get good stuff for considerably less effort and money because devs get their salaries paid by your monthly subscription fee. Deal with it.

Agreed, however i’d rather not drive up the price either. As long as they stay under 3s it’s fine. I usually put in buy orders around 2.60 -2.65. I need the mats anyway and after selling off the stuff i don’t need it’s cheaper than buying them outright, especially when i get cores and/or lodestones off a stack.
Good point. Personally, I’m not saving t6 mats. Not interested in legendary anymore, just a couple unique exotics. Strictly making a profit from the moldy sacks. I’m surprised by how often they drop. After an hour of farming I’ll usually have ~50 to open.
Oh and I only loot my bags so my profit margin is 100%. Only thing I invest is time

The norn female need to hold the greatsword upright unlike the slack look currently in place. Other races are one thing but all norn should hold their weapons with more prominence. I mean, hammer is upright and that thing has a 100 lb weight on the end of a skinny stick so why is that held high and the GS isn’t? I was happy a long time ago when they adjusted female norn attack animations but I’m atill not impressed with the stance. Well there’s my two cents.

Ok so say we have 10 boons on us and a Warrior does 30% more damage to us (3% per boon). Protection virtually cancels out all that extra damage said warrior is doing. All this boon hate isn’t a big deal to me, maybe the thief steal will catch me off guard once in a while but seriously, seems like everyone is flipping out over nothing. Amirite?
I guess between you and me Mrauls I prefer PoV over EM. Other 2 traits are superior aria and 2h mastery already and I won’t give those up. I’m not on the EM/AH train anymore, but I do find AH couples well enough with PoV. Fewer or no conditions factors into more effective HP in a sense. Just my opinion

I know you like your divinity runes but have you ever tried the Pack runes? I have more or less a pretty steady Fury uptime in battles big and small (70% chance with fury currently) :-)
Played around with my stats a fair bit, and I’m going to stick with this.
I’ll finish with 16k HP, 3,082 attack, and 110% c. damage when I get my second accessory.

At your level good looking armor is scarce. Get to 60+ and more appealimg options will open up to you. If you like “plate” ish armor Vigil set is pretty nice but requires lvl 80. Cultural tier 1 now and tier 2 at 60+ may also suit you depending on your race. Different karma vendors in world also carry unique armor like Pit Fighter that you may like, although it shows alot of skin. Honestly tho the really nice stuff awaits at lvl 80. Hope that helps a bit.
Oh yeah google armor galleries and you can see all the armors available for your class/race. Good luck on your choice.

Also to be honest, after 700 hours on my guardian and having all armors available to me I see a need to expand the armor selection. Maybe I’m just jaded but hell it would be nice to see new skins. Been mentioned, but as yet to be verified. My Stag armor has suited me for a while now but I just have that itch for something new. Perma chrome effect armor anyone? Lol
Like the title says, how much? I was wondering what people are making and if I’m doing something wrong or on the right track. I’ll put it this way too. I read people say " oh I threw hundreds of gold in MF today", and I’m like wtf? I don’t dont have and have ever had hundreds of gold laying around and when I’m logged on I farm the kitten out of Orr and dungeons. I’m also not a TP guru. Look mate, during beta and a while after release everyone said Warrior was better. Now everyone and their mother praises guards for their survivability and versatility. Kinda funny really. All you gotta do is play your guard like a guard and not like a warrior. It takes more micromanagement and attention to detail than just spamming skills on a warrior. Trust me guardians have what you’re looking for, you just hit a stump. No big deal.

Ok well I knew this thread wouldn’t reach that many posts before someone had to say “you’re bitter about legendaries” and things along those lines. Always has to be a terd in the punch bowl.
Well what I was really specifying was who bought theirs straight off TP and who more or less crafted it. I see Sunrise for instance listed around 1900-2000 gold. Now me, I don’t have that coin. I also don’t like grinding. I like killing players and having fun. And frankly nothing about Mystic forge and marerials that have astronomical chances of dropping interest me. That being said, Anet doesn’t reward me as generously as players who farm all aspects of the game so it’ll probably be many more months until I get my legendary if I still have interest by then of course.
But, at this point I’ll probably sell all my stuff and just save gold til I can afford it. I spent too many years grinding Eve Online and wasted hour upon hour making a game my second job when I could’ve just played the game.
Well, be honest. I’ve seen several people rocking more than one legendary. Just saw someone with 4 of them holy kitten. Just scratching my head here and wondering who has that time to farm OR did you just buy it. Make yourself be known here.
Also not looking to flame anyone or whine about not having one yet its just something I’m very curious to know about. And we all know there’s some very talented people in this game who know how to make some serious coinage.
I actually run the 0/5/30/30/5 build lately. Traited for Purity, Retributive Armor and AH in Valor, and Superior Aria, 2hand Mastery and Pure of Voice in Honor. Although I switch out PoV for EM often but that depends on the scenario.
Again, as a basic rule of thumb I saw this theory as a means to flip Shelter from just a sup-par heal into more of a multipurpose utility. I know it certainly helps me out when I would otherwise get wiped if I had used SoR. Blocking attacks = no damage = more “effective” HP. With MotP you also gain might stacks that persist for 15s, which provides you quite a bit more burst in your counter move.
Ok well I just did some quick mathemitizing and if we assume (w/o signet countdown reduction) that Shelter heals 4555 every 30s and Signet of Resolve heals 8155 every 40s, then Signet is therefore healing 6166 HP at the 30 second mark. With a possible 25 stacks of might plus Shelter my heal could be from 4555 to 6280 as you stated. Not to mention other healing gained by EM/AH. So yes, Signet still wins in the regard that it guarantees full 8155 heal but Shelter has some serious potential there if played with the right kind of build.
That’s sound advice, Ultramatum. But my play style is face tanking my enemies point blank, then if/when I’m getting steamrolled I’ll pop Shelter last second and let me tell you, it’s literally a life saver when you’re hovering at bare minimum HP. Now don’t get me wrong. I ran with Signet since head-start release, but when kitten hits the fan it just takes too long to cast, and then I’m dead. I’ve also done the triple meditation builds (which i love) and all that jazz so I agree with your perspective as well.
See it this way too – Shelter’s timer is 30s vs Signet which is 40s so that basically means to me anyway that Shelter (with possible stacks of might supported by AH) heals nearly as much overall since I can pop it more often while in combat. I’ll have to do the math on that later lol. Hey, to each their own tho right? After 500 hours on my guardian I’m just trying to explore new possibilities.
That’s exactly what I was hoping to hear. Thanks mate. Yeah, signet may be better in non-burst scenarios but I see more utility in Shelter as it provides multiple benefits – block, heal and might. Also, our might gained sticks for 15s! That’s practically forever given most of our skills provide less than 10s boon duration (I don’t use boon duration runes btw). This really makes me feel better about my Shout-Ah build I rock on wvw and pve.
Hey all. Long time reader, first time poster here. While I’m here at work I was wondering if there is any synergy between the Might of the Protector trait and AH.
If I pop Shelter for example, and block x attacks while gaining x Might, will I receive the extra healing? In other words it seems plausible to me that it would make Shelter on par with our healing signet or better while also giving all those delicious stacks of might to chuck around. Let me know what you find out, otherwise I’ll give it a shot when I get into the game tonight. Thanks.
