It’s always been worth it to me. It’s saved me more times than I can count.
In a pinch you will notice the difference, especially when it comes down to the last hit it may take to down your opponent. Just as well I use it in combo with GS. When I’m low I swap, use whirling wrath through my opponent for the quick heal and rush away to get some breathing room.
Play a god danmed warrior and shut up.

This has been such a fun and successful build that I have a hard time finding another guardian who isn’t running it. And those duels can last forever lol.
I guess if you know how to manage your blocks, actually if you have MASTERED your blocks, then you really can’t fail with this build. Stack that might yo.

Sup breh. It’s Clint from UV. I had a feeling you recorded that awful mess when I fought you. I haven’t played in about 2 months :-/. Next time victory will be mine!
This is a good build. I use the same setup, but with higher toughness and a bit less hp (13.5k yikes). I just have to micromanage a lot and it’s pretty solid.
Well done, sir. Well done.
I think I’m missing something here. Can you elaborate on what sheath-canceling is and how it helps.
Also, I copy/pasted your build (well, Wilson’s build really) and it just plain rocks. Desperate power is such a clutch lol. Always love watching your videos, too.
Well this turned into a “I’m a better warrior and have played longer than you” thread pretty fast.
Those stats are fine but not great. Toughness and attack are good. Crit chance and damage aren’t. For small groups or solo drop that toughness and pick up crit chance/ dmg. 30% is ok so you have 50% with fury. If you want to do real good dmg make that crit dmg at least 75-80%. Go higher if you feel comfortable dropping toughness even more. You didn’t list HP but it really doesn’t matter. We have enough HP already. Other than that your in a decent spot. Nothing really wrong here.
If PVE then go full zerker as anything else is a waste.

So I can’t watch it on my phone (was at work) but it plays fine on my pc. Nice work there. LB is beast.
@killahmayne
Can’t watch your video cuz of copyright bs. Would like to watch it if you re-upload without music or something.
LB/GS is the shiz. I use this build lately with great success.
Strengths:
easy might stacking
pin down+HB combo
easy condi removal w/ Combustive shot and lyssa
arcing arrow crits like a beast
3 stun breakers, 2 endure pains
good armor
Weaknesses:
blinds and evades from good players
enemies with strong condi reduction/removal will break your pin down + x combos
base health
I don’t get why people hate on warriors and describe the play style as ezmode. It’s THE hack-n-slash class of the game. That’s why the attacks are telegraphed the way they are. Of course our skill rotations are pretty easy to see as stated already. We’re supposed to beat others into a pulp. We cc, burst, rinse and repeat. So what? All other classes have a niche play style that makes them just as easy to typecast as well.
Things may not be perfect at present, but it’s not as out-of-balance as people preach it to be. Pro warriors can still get face rolled by good players any day. Don’t listen to the haters OP.
So you want a button or feature that stores your second weapon set in other words, yes? A sound idea. Like some people do now, you can keep your hero panel open and dragged to the right of your screen so only your equipment is visible hence minimizing screen clutter and you can swap weapons faster, although I believe you’d have to drag n drop the 2nd dagger manually if I’m not mistaken. That’s the only way to do it any faster.
Traveller runes are the better choice if you HAVE to have passive speed. Plus they give +15% boon duration which is a bonus if you run anything in virtues. Not +75%, but still… not bad at all.
Honestly it’s just a personal pet peeve of my own that other players may share. Yes we are inherently slow because the typical roam builds don’t use Retreat or even SY if you run meds especially. When it comes down to it +25% speed just makes it “easier” to get around. Nothing more, nothing less.
What Carpboy said. No, EXACTLY what he said.
Cost = time and lots of gold if you go ascended or just time if exotic. As to lack of power you will have lack thereof if you go FULL celestial. You need to mix it up a bit. Remember, celestial is used to buff other important stats like healing power, crit damage and conditions, because after all we kind of have to have it all. Keep your priority on power of you want to do damage beyond that of a wet noodle. Use GW2skills build editor and play with it a while to get something that suits you. Just remember to “even it out” and not kitten yourself. Good luck mate.
Nice build. This was also a great exercise in putting up with bad music for 10 minutes.
Yes it’s a widely known issue and has been for months. Equip and re-equip the skill. Or just activate and wait for the cd like usual. Gotta deal with it in the mean time.
Did it again tonight with another Mesmer. Triple med for sure is the way. Here’s my build since I love sharing.
It’s my actual gear and not necessarily the best choice in runes either but hey I need to run fast.
Well in that case I’ll stick to the videos and live feeds until my beta app gets approved (hopefully).
Ok thanks a lot I appreciate it. And please one more thing if you’ll tell me. Runs better or worse than GW2 on your rig?
Edit: I’ll recant that. If you say the engine is smooth then I will take you at your word.
(edited by SplendidDust of AncientSuns.8453)
Not necessarily a bug as much as the font used doesn’t scale well when resized. May nt even be scalable at all given the glitch. Would require a lot of extra coding to adjust properly without unwanted side effects.
Oh that stinks. My beta app hasn’t been responded to yet so I couldn’t have known that. There’s videos all over YouTube right now so I assumed it wasn’t NDA. Anyway, I was just hoping to hear a GW2 player’s perspective on the game.
What hooked me to it was hearing they had a dodge mechanic. Gotta love dodge. GW2 spoiled me.
This game is in beta form right now from Carbine Studios who’s parent company is our very own NCsoft. Have any GW2 players here played it? How do you like it? What about it do you like and what comparisons between GW2 and Wildstar can you draw from your play experience?
Thanks in advance.
Once everyone gets back from holiday vacation we’ll be posting up our proposed balance changes and we’ll go from there.
(Please don’t hurt me.)
Wait, they let you guys leave the office??? And I suppose you’re going to tell me they pay you, too.
Lol. Jk. Fight the good fight.
One does not simply use Night sigil during the day…
Off-hand sceptor yes? At least with luck we have with the devs and all.
Meta going around for mesmers right now makes them super annoying so I understand your dilemma. My advice… stay on top of them as much as possible. I went full meditation on a few today while dueling and I found that chaining your teleports and GS leap will pressure them hard enough to make them make a mistake. GS pull, symbol, whirling wrath as usual or zealots defense and it’s a done deal usually.

Wait Congo was on tv? Lol
I tried defiant stance against a Mesmer last night and that did the trick. If you work that into a rotation with your condi removal it works out nicely.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Sigil of doom seems to be a growing trend these days.
Is this for solo roaming or group play?
Ok, so it’s 32k give or take after world bonuses and guard stacks + banner buff when deployed. Here’s my current build…
I still use a Logitech G2xx something from ages past. Those things last forever.
I find the crit bonus of rabid to be lackluster. Other than that your build is pretty solid. Traits are always flexible with Condi builds tho. Full dire is what I run however. 32k hp and 3.4k armor is a nice buff yes? Your sword auto is more than enough to keep the bleeds stacked so u don’t really need the crit bonus for bleeds. But dire gets expensive to equip so in the end, nothing really wrong with rabid. It’s what works for you that matters.
The real concern is what would these weapons be? A flail, crossbow, two handed axe, a wand (lol). You know, it has to make sense in the selection we already have. Who knows.
…you’re sitting at the bar surrounded by attractive women and you’re browsing the forums on your iphone and impulsively decide to post a thread about playing GW2 too much.
God, have mercy on my soul plz.
If warrior is ranger then what does that make the ranger?
EM aside, Ah let’s you spec for insane damage at the cost of supporting your bros, but doesn’t leave you hanging when you get low on health. Healing up fully in many instances lets you stay in the fight longer. Still supporting if you’re not dead, yes? I’m speaking strictly from a wvw perspective however.
Warriors gonna be warriors. Guardians gonna be guardians. Make love not war. Can’t we all just get along?
A properly timed berserkers stance will always do the trick as well. Good luck.
Perma vigor? I love how well you don’t know our class hahahaha.
I don’t get it? I have 1000+ hours on my guardian. Vigor on crit. Problem here?
I just try to avoid the sword auto #3, hammer mighty blow and banish, and GS binding blade/symbol/whirling wrath combo and I usually don’t lose. Leap of faith and focus blinds are easy enough to dodge, too. Don’t need condi removal on your skill bar so just use balanced stance, dolyak and endure pain. Everything will be peachy.
Oh yeah, he’s going to have perma vigor and dodge all over the place so I would use GS/AxeSh combo. Rush or Whirlwind to him, Bladetrail (1 sec immo), Hundred Blades. Swap, auto chain him until about 30% or so, Throw Axe (1 sec immo) if he’s running then Shield Bash and Eviscerate his face.

I’m personally not a fan of pure zerker gear only because in a fight once people see how squishy you are you get autofocused immeditatetly. I am more a fan of pvt armor + zerker trinkets or zerker/knights to maximize your damage output, but still being fairly hardy. As others have mentioned there’s a lot of viable builds these days for the warrior, my personal favorite being shout builds w/ soldier runes since condition builds are still insanely popular.
PVT kind of sucks! If you are looking for more survivability you can go Full Valkyrie Armor with cavalier/zerk trinkets, get the same Vit/Toughness of PVT but you also get way better crit damage.
If you want more survivability, go full Valkyrie? What!? PVT sucks? What? Apparently, you do not operate with your warrior within the confines of a serious WvW guild, do ya? lmao…
Thank the heavens I don’t anymore, I couldn’t stand playing the lame Ham/SwWh x-x-30-30-x Soldier runes Shout build. Sure it is tough but it is some of the most boring game play I have ever seen. With my Valkerye Cavalier/Zerk I get good survivability with 21k health 1600 toughness (1800 with Doly Signet) but can also take advantage unsuspecting foe to the fullest by getting 60% crit damage just from the armor 90%. with weapons and traits. Even after patch me ES hits for 4-5K on squishy targets. It’s quite effective.
I don’t know. 1800 toughness with 21k health seems really squishy to me. I mean, yes you do great damage, but you’re a liability to everyone around you if/when you rally x amount of enemies on death.
Can I suggest something? How ‘bout Knights armor and soldier trinkets/weapons. Power runes as well. Even though I have no crit dmg bonus and 15% crit chance base, my power is stacked so friggin high it doesn’t even matter. When I do crit I still hit like a truck mind you. Self buffed power before might is around 2600 and I’m flaunting 3.3k armor and 31k hp.
It’s true that it’s situational in solo play. You’re enemy has to be oblivious to the effect. In zerg trains however, I don’t believe it encourages bad-play. It serves it’s purpose.
If you stack tightly, YOU take that damage with your fellow warriors and negate some of that damage on your softer allies around you. When it comes down to it, this allows you to play much more offensively.
(edited by SplendidDust of AncientSuns.8453)
You could also do sigil of blood with precise strikes for 93% chance of bleed on critical hit. They stack if I’m not mistaken.
