Nefarious, what you’re not getting is out of combat Elementalists can already switch weapons, the only difference between what we have now and what we are asking for is being able to hotkey it instead of having to dig through our inventories all the time to switch weapons.

It’s impressive how many people completely miss this point on this subject. I’ve made a thread about this before and that had similar replies of people that just don’t get it

The problem is, in PvP more survivability could have pretty OP results, it already is really hard to kill a defensive Elementalist… maybe survivability could be improved a little bit for PvE but stay the same for PvP?

We don’t need more survivability. We need to be able to actually do damage. Put the cannon into the GlassCannon part

Yesterday I was running around in queen’s dale with my level 15 guardian, taking on 3 centaurs and a random veteran alpha wolf that decided it wanted to try canned food. My guardian did not give a kitten. She just slowly but surely obliterated all of them and came out of the fight with full health.

I was trying to imagine how that fight would have gone with my elementalist… I would have probably been on the verge of death at least 3 times during that fight, running around hitting buttons like a madman, spamming every spell from each attuntement in the desperate hope I could get at least the centaurs down before being able to deal with the wolf.

It’d be great if the Elementalist actually did damage to offset all the other weaknesses.

I’m assuming that the mesmer’s blink and like wise spells work the same way.
But yeah, this would be greatly appreciated, instead of getting the “out of range” message, just let us teleport the max possible distance in the direction we were casting it in. Or hell, some kind of range indicator would be nice (a circle around your character when you’ve selected the spell to be casted?)

I like mistform, I really do. But ye gods does it have a long cooldown, in PVE its only usable 50% of the time and in PVP you’ll be long, long dead before it becomes available.
The second skill is utterly useless. In PVE the monsters will either just range you to death, or if they are melee, chances are they are already right on top of you when you go down. If they are not, they WILL be by the time you can actually use the skill.
Exactly the same deal with PVP, it will never actually prevent someone from just stomping your squishykitten

Its especially frustrating when I just need an offhand dagger for a ride the lighting jump. Gotta switch out weapons manually, then switch them back. Then better make sure my dagger actually returned to its invisible bag or else I might sell it by accident (Yup, that has happened to me before…)
But Anet does not seem to care about our troubles.

If I may, maybe it’s just me but I never noticed, not even in the original game, really. Humans are humans, people are people, and skin tone, body shape, facial structure, and so on pretty much blends together into one big mish mash that is “Human”. Even in the first game and all its expansions, I noticed the buildings and architectural styles more than the tone of some random NPC’s skin.

For some people it is apparantly super important what skin color the NPC’s have.

On that subject, do the Char give a kitten what color fur an other Charr has?

Fanboy threads are very amusing. If any developer really needs reaffirmation from these idiotic posts then they need therapy. I would think their satisfaction would come from fixing the complaints that their players have and striving to make a better game, not from sunshine and lollipop threads.

Well its pretty clear you are not a developer.
If you were, you would know that its a great feeling to receive praise and compliments on something you’ve been working yourkitten off for the last few years.
Instead they get entitled assgoblins like you that do nothing but kitten and moan.

I’ll probably never see the ‘actual’ reward I was suppose to get from this… Am I?
This reminds me of the GW1 story line, the part where your character ascended by fighting a mirror image of yourself.
Beated it, a week later they announce “uuh, yeah, so we kinda upped the reward of this whole ascension deal. You now get like 3 times the reward but uuh, too bad for the people that already did it. You get nothing.”

I’m like the rest of you guys, got a bunch of random blues and greens around level 20-40

Zhaitan raises both the bodies AND the souls of the fallen, binding them to his will.

A bit of a tangent, but I actually found a sad ghost somewhere (I wish I could remember more details) who was moping that his body was off doing Zhaitan’s evil bidding.

Which surprised me because most of the time he seems to bind their actual souls to his will as well? This is reflected in Grenth's reaper tasking you to get someone back from Zhaitan (by killing them again!), along with the Eyes being bound souls of Orrian royalty.

Maybe it can go either way? Or am I just missing something? shrug.

There’s also this norn sailor crew that guides you to a map. These guys are ghosts. But when you get to their ship wreck you have to fight their undead risen bodies.

I agree with you.
Our party just started making fun of it all. “Mash 2 to win!” As we were going at it.
Sure it looked pretty, with all the fireworks the cannons spewed out. But it was about as thrilling as watching my grandma knit a sock.

I’m pretty sure its done for a balance issue, It would be unfair to give ele’s weapon swaps in PvP for instance. 20 skills vs 10 is a little skewed in the ele’s favor

You guys have such a huge range of spells anyway. Hehe Stance switch more.

Hmm. all other chars get 10 skills across 2 weapon sets. The elementalist gets 20 skills for 1 weapon set. Doesn’t that give you 2x the tools at your disposal? Trouble juggling 4 attunements?

It’s like… it’s like you two have no idea what you are talking about!
And clearly, you don’t!
I suggest you re-read what exactly is being suggested here. And then read up (or try playing) on how an elementalist works.

I agree with this suggestion as long as it remains an ‘out of combat’ swap.

Dear Arenanet.
Please give us Elementalist a second weapon slot that we can quick swap to out of combat (& when all the weapon skills are off cooldown). Having to switch manually through the inventory between staff and dual daggers (two completely different playstyles!) is an incredible chore. “You get 20 skills per weapon set” IS NOT AN ARGUMENT AGAINST THIS.

Dear fellow guild wars elementalist players.
Please give me your support on this.

I too have these issues with my ele and would like to add that when I am using a staff and I switch to air attunement my character will fire off a chain lightning at whatever is closest to me. (even though I don’t have anything targeted)

I’ve had this a bunch of times as well, all those poor moa’s I’ve shocked by (bug) accident…
