It will help find the items, but not salvage the ectos. Use black lions, completely worth it.

Bunkers need a ruthless nerf.

in PvP

Sprinkles.6748

Bunker guardians hold points. the point of spvp and tpvp is to capture them and defend.

This means your team must also include bunker guardians

let me guess… your team is just a bunch of dps….

You failed to play the current META

spvp is random team balance, so you dont always get the well balanced teams you find in tpvp

This mentality…do you really, honestly think that it is a good and interesting thing to have bunker guards a requirement in every team? That is a completely ridiculous and lazy claim. Any combination of classes should be viable. Remember that manifesto thing?

It’s not up to me to judge whether or not bunker guards are op. What I do know and feel is that they are very simple to play and can be very agitating/boring to players on the opposing team.

Downed - Throw hammer pitifully weak?

in Warrior

Posted by: Sprinkles.6748

Sprinkles.6748

Throw hammer is decent, I don’t see a problem with it. It’s single target, but it can buy you the time you need to vengeance or be rallied.

Warrior downstate IMO becomes a problem with vengeance. It’s great, fun, and harshly situational. Also the T2 discipline trait mentioned above makes it very frustrating.

Also, guardian downstate bad? When it comes to teamwork, which is supposed to be important for this game, it’s one of the best. As long as someone is there to rally the guardian and he is roughly above half downed hp, he will be rallied. Thanks to all that time they get after force pushing everything away.

Name Reservations - Still waiting

in Account & Technical Support

Sprinkles.6748

“However, as we mentioned in a previous blog post, your Guild Wars character names will not be reserved indefinitely. You must create a Guild Wars 2 character with the same name as your Guild Wars character during the Headstart Access period or on launch day. Shortly after launch, we’ll free up all the unclaimed names for new Guild Wars 2 players to use.”

http://www.arena.net/blog/reserve-your-guild-wars-character-name-for-guild-wars-2-by-july-31

That is just for reference. But, GW1 name reservations were supposed to drop a day after the head start access. It has now been well over a month. No word, just wondering when I will be able to buy some character slots and make one for each class. I am a PvPer so I do have a valid reason for wanting one of each class right now. It would help to try them out and see how some of their skills/traits work.

I’ve run into this several times now with different names while trying to make up new characters. This has been over the course of time since release day. I believe these reserved names have not been taken by their current owners. I tested this by attempting to create a character under a name on a friends GW1 account that he was not going to use for GW2. It is still reserved, same exact message.

It doesn’t seem like this would be a tough fix and my brain is too stubborn to come up with other things I like currently. If i knew reservations weren’t going to unlock a day after making new characters anyways, it would be a lot less annoying. Maybe this requires a lot of changing and needs to be deployed in a whole patch. With Anet being this busy I would understand. Still, I would have expected this to be automated or just changed after release day like they said would happen.

I Don't Like The Dragon Champion Fights.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Well…I think the currently available dragon fights are a really good start. Don’t know how they would really make giant events including possibly over 100 people much harder. Without just making it very, very difficult. Probably resulting in much death and event failures. For casual PvE, this would make a lot of players upset.

Has the zhaitan fight gotten much harder since he was fixed?

Are Servers Saturated w/Guilds?

in Guilds

Posted by: Sprinkles.6748

Sprinkles.6748

It most certainly is flooded, and your story is very close to mine. I think things are still sifting out and people are finding what they really want to do with the game. Plus, there aren’t very many current reasons to care about what guild you are in for lot’s of people. Also, probably too many ‘groups of buds’ trying to start their own guild and just hurting the chances for other small guilds.

I knew it wouldn’t be easy from the start. We don’t really lack anything other guilds may have, except a very active and numerous player base of course. Just a disclaimer, my guild size is technically past 30, but the “true” size is not nearly that because of non active/non representing players. We are proud of what we have accomplished so far, and looking very forward to what we will in the future. I don’t plan on stopping with GW2 any time soon so we will keep trying. Eventually, things will work out I am sure of that.

If you don’t think it’s worth it, form up with another guild. You would be doing a great service to all us small guilds by doing this. Not saying you should, just if you no longer want to put out the effort. This goes out to all other guilds with the same issue to. Which I know, there is a lot. Other than that, all I can really say is good communities don’t form over night. It’s more about making friends that play at similair times and in similair ways that your guild does than anything.

Why Magic Find is a Poor Mechanism

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sprinkles.6748

Sprinkles.6748

ArenaNet said they will let people play they want, either “Fun”, “Relaxed” or “Farming” (Legit, not botting), and they will keep it that way. I’m sorry but in order to have “Fun” I must spend money due to all the gold sinks in this game, and to have money, you must “Farm” and getting lots of money from this Magic Find is helpful so you can have “Fun” in the longterm.

Heh, maybe it would be more ‘fun’ if they just took it out and boosted overall mf rates a little bit. Don’t know if I see this happening anywhere in the near future though.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I completely agree. Instead of becoming lvl 80 and thinking up a build and implementing it. It is quite literally all about MF. I have just focused on general MF gear and consumables for the past few weeks. Really takes away from things when I stop to think about it. Instead of gearing up for dungeons, which are supposed to be challenging, I just use my MF!

As someone that has spent a ton of resources maxing out this stat. I could not care less if it was effectively taken out as a mechanic. I might actually be pretty happy. It’s kind of frustrating wondering how well it even works when I’m not getting any good drops.

Paid Tournaments Feedback

Sprinkles.6748

You make tournament tickets by doing free torunaments easy. If you are good enough, they will come quick. If you aren’t that good, you probably don’t want to be wasting on paid tournaments yet. Paid tournaments have a gem payout, probably greater than the value of the tickets you need to get in.

It’s for very well structured teams. And it’s not them being greedy, its very generous and the system is going to make for less, but much better quality tournaments when doing paid. Absolutely no merit in whining here.

Having a great time with no dungeon finder

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I agree with a small bit of reluctance. Because it can be hard to find groups for some people. Anet found a way for people to work together so seamlessly in every other aspect of the game. As it is, people are using the classic lfg in map chat. Perhaps this could still be improved a little?

Of course, none of this really matters in my mind though. As I am slightly disappointed with the ease of getting dungeons done with random pick up groups. Even if we have a weak link or two, it’s not like it wont get done. Nerf corpse running already!

Because one of the benefits of being a warrior is taking more hits. I’m pretty sure base stats (being lvl 80) mean the same exact numbers for all classes. While, lighter classes have more tools to dodge hits or w,e.

It’s a kind of old system, but the way they are using it isn’t all that pointless and stupid. Also, it would be really hard to tell classes apart from one another.

When will Arenanet explain magic find?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sprinkles.6748

Sprinkles.6748

2) As far as I know it increases your chance to get a rare item (say the item on a mob has a 0.5% chance to drop, and you have 100% magic find that said item now has a 0.25% chance of dropping)(someone correct me if I’m wrong here).

I think that the chance increases, rather than decreases with MF. So if you have 100% MF a .5% chance drop increases to 1%. Not decrease…unless MF is some kind of masochist stat bonus.

If so, I’ve been putting a lot of resources into the wrong stuff.

What about WP zerging/corpse rushing? It makes the objective of dungeons too easy as no real strategy is needed. If it weren’t so easy to do this, people would probably be forced to actually think and prepare for dungeons. With that, the other problems would be as bad. People are just not thinking and running into dungeons and complaining they are being 1 shotted because their magic find gear doesn’t help you kill bosses. I go into dungeons with my magic find gear, because it’s all I’ve cared to make and I know it won’t be that hard. Me and or a group mate may die at a boss once or twice. No big deal, just run back.

IMHO its meant to do this so that PUGS and the skilless can still do the content.
is it so important that the game has to make sure you dont do it the easy expensive way.
eh. maybe it is.
Seems to me you could just make a group rule about not using the way points.

cant do that in a pug really but you would not be able to do the content at all in pug without the way point zerg.

This was posted on the blog today…and this is not nearly the first time they have said things just like this.

“For people who love structured and difficult content, we developed the explorable mode for our eight dungeons. A dungeon’s explorable mode has at least three different paths that players can choose to conquer—and each path is a five-character delve into tough content that we designed to push the limits of teamwork and communication.”

so you are saying that because you can way point zerg that means the content is not what that post says? if so I disagree but it brings an idea i like.

a no death achievement counter for each dungeon.
No way point would be an easier one to achieve.

Wow does some of this kind of thing.
rather than make the dungeons harder add specific achievements within that dungeon.

Corpse rushing makes the dungeons sooooo much easier than they should be per the blog post. It’s the difference between using strategy and teamwork and mindlessly zerging with whatever build you feel like. Just tossing an achievement in there would be kind of annoying. Firstly, you should be dying and a lot. But if you keep thinking and trying new things you may eventually pull through. That’s called a challenge. The rewards would also feel much more worth it than just an achievement.

Sure but YOU do not want to corpse rush. so why do you do it.
i assume you are not doing PUGs so why does your group do it.

That can not feel like a satisfying win for you. It doesnt to me. Do you really need the game to force you not to use the waypoint?
Do you just want the content barred to other people who do not have a good group?

Basically, I like success more than I dislike zerging. And why not? I’m not going to be some stubbornkitten when it’s right there in my face. I do want the dungeon rewards to be harder to obtain. But as it is, it’s not that hard. Anyone can just spend time in dungeons and work up the tokens and whatever else pretty easily. While the people I usually do dungeons with completely agree. They zerg anyways. Also, doing it multiple times is more or less experimenting the mechanic so I can use my actual experience as a base for my argument. “Don’t knock it til’ you try it.”

If you must ask, yes the dungeons would be much more fun and interesting if they were harder for everyone. Would legendary weapons be as fun if they were handed out to everyone? Nope, and that’s the point of progression in MMO’s. It’s a sense of reward and accomplishment. Just saying something like “Yeah, I did that without using WP’s” isn’t the same as being able to show it.

Yeah, this seriously needs to be changed. I do not want to do dungeons because of it. It’s just not nearly as exciting or rewarding to play them like this. I don’t think your meant to do it, dungeons are supposed to be really hard. But, the ability to do it makes dungeons so much easier than they should be. The difference between hardcore or casual players being able to complete them. Which, Anet specifically said so many times that they wanted dungeons to be really hard and only possible when going hardcore at it.

Dungeon Zerging = Fun & Challenge Killer

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Sprinkles.6748

Sprinkles.6748

Experience may vary, but while that happens a lot in bad story mode groups (story modes are meant to be trivial…the option to just pop back in the fight is part of that), I have found that most of the time in explorable, you can’t easily come back. Either the waypoint is too far, either the fight is made such that once the person controlling the fight goes down, its basically over. I rarely have time to come back (it happens, but its not the norm), so we almost always have to do the fight in one shot.

Millage may vary, i suppose

From my experience there is very few times it is too far. Also, they provide waypoints further up as you go along. Which…doesn’t help this case.

I like them the way they are. The deciding factor on if you finish or not is time and the coin you have. I think that is the way it should be.

Well, that’s completely contradictory to the words I heard from the devs themselves. Almost entirely. Dungeons aren’t supposed to be time spent and general wealth. That just makes players that play more do better. Very against the philosophy of GW2.

My take on all of this has always been that dungeons are very skill based and provide unique rewards for those that manage to do it. Rewards such as unique looking gear. It would take a really good amount of teamwork to succeed. The way it is now just doesn’t support very much teamwork besides “I kept the boss busy while my team ran back”. It’s practically not even worth helping downed teammates at times.

Even though I know there is that option to run back I still try my best not to die and most of the time I don’t die.

Before this game released I played a game in which when you die people had a limited amount of time to pick you up and if they do not get you then you’re locked out of the fight until it’s over. People use to complain about this all the time. So I think it’s funny that you’re complaining that you can run back.

Personally though I don’t think being able to port back takes away from having a strategy, instead it gives your team a second chance.

Those people are the typical complainers that want everything to be easy to just mindlessly get through. Just like whenever WoW has new ‘harder’ dungeons. I know Anet are ones to stick to their guns, but I don’t get why they are letting us WP like this. I think it has something to do with the rewards currently being so bleh…

Dungeon Zerging = Fun & Challenge Killer

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Sprinkles.6748

Sprinkles.6748

I’m really surprised I can’t find others complaining about this. The only few dungeons I’ve done were really challenging and pretty hilarious with a group of friends. But, just zerging any bosses that are at all challenging completely ruins it.

What do I mean by zerging? Dying repeatedly at a boss and just being able to instantly WP travel and run back to the fight, while whoever is left keeps them busy in the mean time. Why it was decided/left to be like this is so confusing to me. It really turns otherwise challenging dungeon bosses into mindless charging. I just…can’t personally explain why it’s like this.

I remember once so far it was pretty much impossible for my group to use this strategy. Wasn’t a boss, but traps + ranged mobs waiting on a choke point. My team was actually forced to sit and strategize and actually change some skills/weapons to be able to do it! Probably my best dungeon moment so far.

Before it’s brought up. “Just don’t do it” Doesn’t quite work either. It’s there, it’s going to be used by anyone. Dungeons are supposed to be ragetasticly hard and this just almost completely removes that element. I know it’s not supposed to be an integral part of dungeons either. Everything is possibly without dying, just hard, but not hard thanks to this. It really is just being used as a crutch and the possibly unique rewards from dungeons aren’t going to be worth akitten
