On a related note. HP is recruiting. We have voice comms and a lovely friends and family based atmosphere. We also have cake. Frosted with tears and hate. No, the cake is not a lie.

how about help identifying the individuals in that video? or are you in here blatantly recruiting for more people to join in doing what we’ve seen the folks from HP doing this week?

@Qualamala: I think it’s a combination of some transfers from t1 who’ve be extremely proactive in recruiting for their wvw guild, open tactics training (so everybody on the server learns), and playing nonstop with our existing player base. all the success that that’s created has attracted all the random pugs wanting to actually play wvw that quit when everybody left and we got weeks of spawn camping.
There may have been some other transfers too, but i can’t imagine why at this point. we’re def. on the upswing though.
secessit viri bellatores
Idn, FC and AR seem to have their share of ppl who do this too…
I think the folks doing this from ar, do it to gom as a bite reflex from days not that very long ago (weeks maybe?) where they couldn’t get out of spawn or hold an eb / arbl tower / keep because of semi hourly karma trains that made them want to join the mass transfer group out or stop playing wvw all together.
I think everybody did it (gom not that different than anybody else) but gom and sf i think took advantage of easy points / karma / bag farming more than others. it does suck to be on the receiving end of that though…
secessit viri bellatores
Yes: at times whenever server / map populations are close to equal
No: whenever if ever one side has an outmanned buff.
secessit viri bellatores
@1 – you mean like gom/sf did to us on our descent to t8 for weeks on end… spawn camping us, rolling over everything we had every hour, helping to make sure our wvw population stayed out of wvw (till just recently… what you’re seeing right now btw).
@3 – never underestimate pve’ers who want map completion combined with high/very high server population. there is rewards in somebody who needs to run through some borderland and and creative recruiting and careful support can win ppt’s as we’ve shown over the past few days. running off to winning servers won’t help you either.

sadly enough his tale is mostly accurate. the numbers are slightly off on our side we probably had maybe 10-12 but they all had a wild hair to kill siegerazer instead of trying to get into the tower (we wiped the group doing the breakout prior to these guys showing up, that bit was pretty fun). sometimes folks get distracted by the silliest of things… like big champ npcs that they’re not going to kill (and is responsible for 99% of our wipe not these guys though they did annoy us by spiking our remaining rezzers keeping us from moving when it became apparent that that objective was going to be impossible in present company) despite being told repeatedly that they’re not going to kill it and to come build these rams and take this tower :S
I’m pretty sure it was more than that, but admittedly I could have overestimated a bit.
I guess I didn’t convey it clearly enough, but I wasn’t trying to say I was great because we killed you guys. In fact I’ve said the opposite numerous times already. It was just one of those moments of complete bewilderment, where I couldn’t even begin to understand what was going on.
Edit: I’m about to start roaming, so if anyone wants to prove just how bad I am, feel free to come looking. I’ll probably be on AR or FC bl south of the water.
we originally passed you by because i’d just gotten a message from someone in the middle saying they were dueling dr so i figured you & the others were just on your way there and i’m of the opinion that one dude against a zerg should be free to get taken by other roamers, if you turned back (to join the group we were about to hit—imo you were fair game & I think the rest of the group thought the same thing). unfortunately for us, our guys assumed siegerazerererererrrrr was some normal npc.
secessit viri bellatores
I’m sure it looked differently from the other side though, you don’t see how the champ destroys your team from the other side (been there done that) especially when they’re all unaware & trying to cap him like a normal claiming lord.
it was pretty embarrassing tbh not one of my finer moments (& I debated claiming it) but you win some you lose some; that was not a good night for meh.
Was this the same night you were late to Hills? If so, we wondered what the hell you were doing back there. We moved on and capped Lake instead.
yea man… right after. string of defeating moments, had to try and log out right after felt a migraine coming on.
probably would have kept hitting the door at hills if y’all would have wp’d after taking it. thought one of our ppl glitched through the door when i saw you all on the other side, (didn’t even pull map over to see the circle for hills that it was blue. you guys are quiet with your super /s chatting). sigh, bad night all around.

Well, let me tell you guys a tale of how 4 ungrouped people can beat 20+. I honestly don’t remember which map it was because most of the time I don’t know. However, it was the borderland where DR is in the SW corner.
So I was roaming around as usual, and I roll up to the SWT which was owned by FC and see some siege up and a Siegerazer. With my awesome map awareness, I figure someone is doing a breakout and I should just steer clear. However, upon closer inspection, it was not quite what I thought.
It turned out it was five or so AR building the siege, but the Siegerazer actually belonged to DR but had, for whatever reason, been abandoned and left to stand in front of the tower alone. After seeing this, I, and another DR or two, killed them and started to leave.
As we were leaving, in rolls quite a decent zerg. My first reaction is to run, but they don’t seem to care about us at all. The zerg mostly ignores us and starts trying to build siege and kill Siegerazer. Now, as you might know, Siegerazer is a pretty tough guy. It ends up with about a third of the zerg downed, another third trying to mass rez, and the remaining still trying to kill him.
During this time, we DR were of course keeping ourselves busy. I was rez bombing every time my cds were up, and the others were doing what their classes were best at. A handful of times some of the 80s would try to kill us, but they either died or quickly gave up and went back to rezzing.
Eventually, the damage outpaced their rezzing (especially after they started trying to mass hard rez), and their numbers dwindled, and eventually they were all dead.
During this fight, I had very little pressure on me. I was pretty much left to DPS freely. I said repeatedly that I didn’t do anything impressive in this fight, and that was true. We didn’t win because the four of us happened to be GW2 gods. We won because that commander led zerg tried to facetank Siegerazer while four people bombed them over and over and over.
This is how this reads:
I don’t know where I was, I have awesome map awareness, but don’t know where I am or where my spawn is. And yeah, by the way, they had mostly uplevels (and honestly there probably weren’t 20+) and we had a champion NPC on our side.
sadly enough his tale is mostly accurate. the numbers are slightly off on our side we probably had maybe 10-12 but they all had a wild hair to kill siegerazer instead of trying to get into the tower (we wiped the group doing the breakout prior to these guys showing up, that bit was pretty fun). sometimes folks get distracted by the silliest of things… like big champ npcs that they’re not going to kill (and is responsible for 99% of our wipe not these guys though they did annoy us by spiking our remaining rezzers keeping us from moving when it became apparent that that objective was going to be impossible in present company) despite being told repeatedly that they’re not going to kill it and to come build these rams and take this tower :S

sorry folks. functionality that existed in gw1 and previously in gw2 was fine. thanks for jumping in my post and pointlessly trying to wreck what was my suggestion by trying to make it sound like i was trying to say something that i wasn’t. class act.
bought another account tonight. so an entire years worth of effort for my character gone gg (i’ve started a whole new one under a new account so the minor could continue to play his under this one and mine goes to waste :S ).
& btw… “sharing” accounts and having a minor whom you are 100% responsible for as a parent click on the launch icon on your computer (as he has no clue what the password is… if it fails to log in, he doesnt play… and therefore wouldn’t quite be considered “shared” anyway) are I think 2 different things. way to blow things a bit out of proportion there folks. had he been somewhere else, playing on another computer, and i given him my account, he used it to log in and we had to coordinate who was playing & when yea… i could see that as a problem. splitting hairs. problem solved. mods feel free to lock this thread.

i have a 10 yr old who’s way beyond his age (very responsible straight shooter type of kid). he’s been saving up for quite some time to buy his own commanders tag (good luck). he’s been playing gw1 since before he could read or write. not your typical 10 yr old but he’s not exactly commander material in wvw imo, and no he doesn’t play my character.
i haven’t logged in to see the wallet, and i’m one of these people (anet please listen to me) who actually spend money on a regular basis on this game. this is enough for me to stop playing though as i don’t want to micro-manage finances and am at a point where its kind of difficult to split out the way i play the game. there are other games to spend my money on (not talking to you guys commenting on this now), and I just wanted you to know this isn’t a good fit for everybody if you wanted feedback at face value. I will log in later on and make sure what i’m saying is valid though. this is just my bite reaction from what i’m reading.

So….. what’s the point of this feature except to screw over all of us who’s kids play on the same account? there’s always been a bank where we could put our money and deposit all our cash, so now my 10 yr old (who i couldn’t get his own account because it was tied to our gw1 account and all his toons & junk was on there and haaad to be tied to this account) is on here.
so mid stream you make these kind of sweeping changes with no way for us to transfer characters to another account if we wanted to. smh. whats next? account bound commanders? I’d love for him to have access to that as well. great job. <sarcasm>thanks</sarcasm>
gonna be a fun conversation tonight when i tell him he’s perma-banned from gw2.
great features added to gw2:
- removal of wp’s in dungeons (effectively making them worthless).
- global wallets (screwing over anyone who plays w/ their kids on the same account).
- waiting for global commander access cause nobody can save up more than 100g… its just impossible

Once upon a time long ago, when TA left HoD and we started our long fall from #1 down to tier 7, at off peak hours we could not even hold a single tower in our borderland.
I feel your pain AR, but trust me, it will get better eventually. Keep trying and it will happen.
Look at this match up. http://mos.millenium.org/na/matchups/history/24
GoM dominated, but one day in that week, we sweep the whole EB and turned it green. It was a huge moral booster and we stabilized in tier 7 after that.
Good luck.
Oh.. and that remind me, look at the next match up
http://mos.millenium.org/na/matchups/history/26I still remember the amount of gloating DR spew onto the forums when they break out of tier 8. See how the tables had turn.
Thanks Cymric.
Yeah, we’ll get there….eventually. The fall has been toughest on the casuals. I see all the time in map chat as they log in, see our map the “wrong” color, make a few deflated comments, and log back out. They don’t even try. The die-hards (die-alots? LOL) are still here though, so watch out!! GRRRRR.
sheesh… I can’t play ALL the time
(j/k)… You need to buy a tag bro. give em a little to play for and they all come back in and help out. its hard to know where to start sometimes, but get em going and they’ll keep it <the Color of The Week>. I don’t know maybe we have a lack of consistent commanders, or people willing to follow them (for obvious reasons). We seem to get things going pretty well when i’m in there, and it seems to stay <CoTW> for a bit after i log out.
its a process. we’ll get there eventually. less talk more action i say
who has a golem?
secessit viri bellatores
try destroying those doors… they stay there even when you’ve broken through. its like someone at anet accidentally left in some art asset under some strange condition that does that, and it’ll do it on almost any tower / keep in game.
secessit viri bellatores
All in all had a pretty fun time w/ you guys this past week. SF kept us on our toes, could have done w/ out the constant camping, but boredom does strange things. you guys might want to try doing dungeons or the new living story content sometimes…
anyway, see you folks in the weeks to come, i’m sure we’ll get matched back up with you a lot like AR has previously had with BP and EBay. Happy Fights this week. enjoy killing your frienemies lots and lots.

It sounded like our BL’s had a rough go of it tonight at reset on teamspeak but I think we did pretty well all things considered… in EB.
I was really hoping for an AR/ET/FC match up, but this one so far is looking pretty nice. good fights all around in EB. (It was nice to get the “zerg” out of spawn, and fight both sides for once).

I hope for your server that you are a commander or at the very least a vocal leader…Because you sir, seem to have a handle on reality, and get “it”.
Having said that, it would be nice to get a chance to acquaint ourselves with Eredon Terrace at some point this week (tea and biscuits are always waiting for you guys and we don’t want to seem unwelcome hosts, but… we would like to get to know the other guys too). kind of hard to do when every hour or so we get drop in visits from sorrows furnace wanting to play. Think maybe ET might feel like the shiny new guy’s getting all the attention and might not like us.

& @Savannah Sue yea i am a commander (I just don’t put it in my sig for some reason).

I would also just like to point out, before you start talking smack to SF about forum postings (you know who you are) and get all upset about SF not respecting your server, etc. realize that you are accusing our server based on a few posts on a forum or a small number of our players camping your spawn.
If you want to judge our entire server by a few forum posts, we shall do the same and call your server whiners. After all, one forum posts represents the entire server, no?
As far as spawn camping, never done it and never will. Do I push you guys back to the spawn, of course. Do I camp there for hours and not let anything out, nope. Some people from our server might do that, not sure since I am always on the move to something not boring. But I am not going to tell someone else they cant because you don’t think it is fair. After all, this is a battleground, is it not? Plus, every spawn has multiple exits.
trust me man… AR has done MUCH worse on our way up… we kept their keep, built a waypoint there and camped there for days on end, never moved on. most of these people who are raging about what’s going on now weren’t around then and are just upset because they’re new and want to actually just play. Looking back now, its not a very nice thing to do and if I had a do-over i wouldn’t do it again (different times, different scoring system, you know…).
from what i’ve seen SF eventually does move on. its not like you have numbers to keep people everywhere at once (not a dig, just battlefield logistics). I wouldn’t worry about people raging on the forums. next week will be a new week, and there will still be a wvw. Hopefully AR has given you guys something fun to play against, even if it’s been at our spawn, you’ve given us some exciting fights (I know personally its been pretty exciting trying to keep stuff from getting capped at night when i play, we’ve won some we’ve lost some, but that is what it is all about).

Dear Anvil Rock
… stuff
This isn’t AR group therapy. We are a high population, #1 ranked pvp server who had all our wvw guilds leave. we’re a bit puggy in wvw at the moment training a lot of new folks how to play the game (trying to stay positive while being camped at spawn a lot). we’ll recover but thanks for thinking of us

I have to agree w/ thorson. we were trying to take back bravost tonight and vs happened to be there. we fought for a good while until the rest of sf started capping the other side of the map and i had to pull off and try to salvage it (would have rather stayed and continued the fight though). gg, cant wait for more of that. it was good to be able to show some of our new folks running with us what they should be doing in wvw live action style.
secessit viri bellatores
Yep that’s how it went down (@sioux I remember seeing you on the ar/eBay threads).

Not that most of you care, but anvil was stuck in t5 forever outmanned but we still held our own and have been pretty proud about being able to do that for months on end (again till everybody left). Then one guild decides to leave and they all leave and over a 3-4 week period we go from being able to compete at t5 to where we are now here in t8 where I think we fit in pretty well. Every week it seems we lose another guild or core player.
If there are still some barking, they just haven’t gotten used to the fact that we probably aren’t going to be backing it up 24/7 (or as close to that as we used to get). We’ve fallen pretty far pretty quick. Don’t know if any of you guys have experienced that before but it’s pretty heartbreaking. Especially getting owned by servers you dominated on the way up at one point who take advantage of your down state :p (I know I would too)
All i’d ask is to try to ignore some of the more harsh comments and just brush it off as nothing more than loud noise (and we’ll try not to be so noisy). We’re glad to be playing you guys, let’s keep it fun!
secessit viri bellatores

AR hasn’t faced SF before this. they don’t really know how big the SF zergs get at times…
nope we haven’t, but assuming you can’t keep 80+ people on every map, 30+ people map hopping to save towers all the time like some of the server’s we’ve fought in the past, i think most of us will enjoy the match up.
mmm. >looks at the map< how’s that workin’ out for ya?
ouchie
no chest thumping here… and i never said you havn’t faced big zergs. of course you have. you’ve been in the higher tiers. but ET knows from painful bitter experience what SF fields. when they WANT to…. 30 people map hopping won’t save your towers. their weakness is overnight/early morning (NA times).
i’m glad to be facing a new opponent… hope we all have fun this week..but like i said.. the drama started right outta the gate this week. kinda making me LOL
TBH, I’m having a blast so far this week. I normally play from 10/11pm – 2/3 am CST and will typically play EB, and if you’ll check (if there’s a way to check) AR’s held our stuff during that time. SF’s come through with numbers and capped things during that time but we’ve pushed them back, held them back and defended pretty well.
Here’s the major difference between now and then (at least when i’ve been on):
Now we have low wvw numbers because EVERY major wvw guild has left. we’re left with a bunch of die hard smaller guilds that just want to play, or new random players who are trying out wvw. AR is a high population server so we’re going to attract people to the battle field if we can keep some part of the maps, and i think we’re doing pretty well for what we’ve got.
Then we had a LOTS of wvw guilds (i.e. we had numbers but / ) and faced typically 2 other servers who could field numbers which make sf’s largest #‘s look like a large guild (which they’d have sitting idle in every tower they held). what sf / et has, is nothing like that, so yea… i’m having a blast against you guys. even if during times i’m not playing we get “night capped” (during the day / while nobody’s playing) that’s ok by me, what’re we going to do, drop another tier???. fall to last place? that’s fine, we’re rebuilding and we’ll be ok.
not having a strong seasoned guild presence means that when we don’t have people playing (you can “night cap us” any time essentially) the folks we do have playing probably don’t know what they’re doing. we’ll have our lions arch commanders in there that people will follow (blind leading blind) and they’ll be easy kills.
we have some forum warriors on here (which probably comes from AR being the PvP server that we are), but if you were to come in and see some of our map chat, most of us are just having fun, even against the big out-zergged groups.
IMO lets just keep it fun, keep the “ebay antics” out of the forums (that always annoyed me), this is t8 after all, and we’re not going to be winning any e-sports awards here

Agree, but only for the ChatUI. All other UIs I find fine and are good array
well, our current radar / map ( is sort of like gw1’s mini map, but imo it) doesn’t get as big as we could make it in gw1 and you can’t put it anywhere like you could in gw1, having the minimize/close buttons up all the time were nice (though not necessary), and being able to scale up/down the size of some of those perm. windows if you have enough screen space would be great or relocate them all together outside of the 2 places you currently have the option to relocate them (talking about the chat and map windows which you can dock to the top or bottom of the window at the moment on a single monitor setup)…
at least if i could resize the upper right hand corner text (personal story / live content stuff…) I could make it small enough where i didn’t see it or move it off to the side of the screen where it wasn’t in the way…

just to break the monotony of these conversations, here’s a sory as an intermission (popcorn & soda/pop/coke’s all around)…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In 1986, Mkele Mbembe was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from college On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air.
The elephant seemed distressed so Mbembe approached very carefully. He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant’s foot, and found a large thorn deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Mbembe worked the thorn out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man and with a rather stern look on its face, stared at him. For several tense moments Mbembe stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled.
Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned and walked away.
Mbembe never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.
Twenty years later he was walking through a zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Mbembe and his son Tapu were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Mbembe and lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man. Remembering the encounter in 1986, Mbembe couldn’t help wondering if this was the same elephant. Mbembe summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure.
He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder.
Suddenly the elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of the man’s legs and swung him wildly back and forth along the railing, killing him.
Better yet.
Can we P L E A S E please please have the same UI interaction that GW1 has.
yea that would be awesome (better/best/preferred), but i’d settle (for just being able to turn off screen clutter).
Can we P L E A S E please please have a way to turn off our current story objective(s)?
since ruining dungeons (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-Patch-Discussion-1-28/1314817) guarantees I’ll never complete the last step of what has become my primary character’s story line, i’m pretty tired of looking at “Victory or Death” up there in the top corner of the screen, and have even thought of doing the dungeon just so it would go away… till i attempt one and realize what a piece of garbage they are and come to my senses again and live with screen clutter and go back to playing WvW and live with it.
Since there’s UI revamp coming out anyway, why not add an option to hide story objectives (you do it in WvW) with some option in the options dialog? I’d love to never see anything PVE (other than what i opt into or dynamic events) related on my screen again if i could toggle it.
You do know there is a 30 second window before the white swords pop up on the keep right? With 3-4 rams on a paper gate, or golems, it tends to melt pretty dang fast. You say “no siege,” but were you there? There could have been 10 friggin golems on the gate, that waypointed back before you showed up. Add mesmers with Time Warp and portals, things tend to get done really fast. Seriously, use some common sense.
quite familiar w/ the mechanics of the game, thanks. we were standing directly beside it in between bravost and front steps and yes, i checked gates after the flip to see where they took it and amazingly enough they where nowhere to be found.
& we played ioj 3 weeks ago. them and sbi were one of the most enjoyable match-ups i can remember.
Whoever lead the [VLK] portal bomb against us at the southeast camp in HoD bl, you interrupted what was supposed to be our portal bomb. Idk how the hell we recovered from your portal bomb. It was just a HUGE plus that we got some of your golems.
Had a lot of good fights all around tonight. Its a real bummer AR and HoD can’t match numbers, it would be significantly more fun if you guys could.
I have a sneaking suspicion that if you had the numbers transfer out over the past few weeks that we did, that Darkhaven would drop from a “High” server population to a “Low…” population.
just sayin… gg we do pretty good for where we are, play on and don’t forget the:
