You can only use leather armour so just equip the best you can find.
Personally I put as many trait points as I can into Precision and Power and top up with maybe some vitality.
Use what ever pets you can find to start but try and get a Lynx and I also use an Eagle or a spider. Charm every juvinile creature you come across then you can use them when you want.
If you Google Ranger build Guild Wars 2 you should have heaps of places to look.

Guess that makes sense to some people.
What ever happened to using the English language ?

Same here my main GW1 char was a ranger as is this one in GW2. Always play a ranger class in WOW and Perfect World or any game for that matter.

What are your thoughts on the pets you use ?
Right now I am using a Lynx swapping with a Forrest Spider which apart from the poison seems to be remarkably durable and heals itself ??

Personal choice and they are fun. Not into the geeky stat fest because that does not equate to fun. Versatile !!!!

I use axe and torch for melee and love it with a Lynx or spider.

Pity, seems a bit like false advertising to me. Never seen it happen in game.
Combo finisher in a combo field ???

Play them both and decide for yourself. Water finds its own level.
Make a decision it is not life threatening !

I recall a cut scene promoting GW2 before it was released showing a ranger firing some arrows through a fire wall passing through igniting, hitting a mob and setting them on fire.
How is this achieved ingame ?

I have been questing in Snowden Drifts and have a lot of meat hunks that tells me Chef Mestergrutt of Mennerheim would like these.

Yes working from inventory did not work before or after equiped.

I have an upgrade medal thing that changes the appearance of an item but with the same attributes.
Tried it on two similar swords but did not work. Placed the two swords in the box but red out will not let me change.
Any ideas please ?

Surely colour is personal taste. I like Red and White heavy armour and greens for rangers.

I have made an Asara Warrior and a Norn Eli .
Would like to swap them over …. Norn to Warrior and Asara to Eli.

I made some weapons and tried to mail them to my friend but it would not let me attach and am wondering why ?
My crafter is level 21 the weapon is for level 25 my recipient is level 25.
Has it got something to do with the crafter being level 21 and the weapon for level 25 ? The weapon is newly made and not soulbound.

How do I join your guild ?

My server is Whiteside Ridge.
I am Australian but prefer to stay on European servers as I have English friends ( don’t tell anyone though … ha ha ).
Usually I play a few hours in the morning ( evening in Europe ) and sometimes at night ( European morning ).
My characters are levels 45 Ranger, 30 Ele and Necro. Currently levelling a thief @ 28.
Is there a friendly guild out there that actually talks ??? I am an adult and would like some guild involvement without going over the top.
On GW1 I formed my own guild and we had a ball for years and made some good online friends but GW2 seems totally different.
Any guilds out there that might be my cup of tea ?

This is probably the stupidist question of all time but :
How do I change chat channels ? I am in Guild or Party but want to go to general/world chat.
Also is there any emote buttons or do we always have to type sit, dance etc ????

I think my crit change was around 56% so should I go for the bow with 2% then. My crit chance is 1 in 2 so that good ????

Where do I get the runes that attach to armour ? e.g some armour has 2 of 6 runes.
My characters are levels 45 to 20 so maybe I am too low level to make them ?
What class can make them ?

Put it in the bank and your other characters can use it to …. well anything not soul bound as well.

My advice is just try out each Race and Class to see which one you like best. Also try all possible weapons for that class as they are very different.
Try different story lines when you set up your character too as it also plays differently.
Take your time, explore and have fun. This is a great game with each character and even weapon sets so different. You effectively have a new game for each race/class.

Just started a new Guardian and not usually playing this type of character ……

Vitality ?
Power ?
Toughness ?

Does anyone from GW2 ever respond to the problems many, many people are posting on here about lagging and freezing ?

This is a very good way to kill the game as I am so very close to leaving GW2 due to lag …. is almost unplayable. When someone leaves a game they rarely come back.

Ranger is versitile and not boring.
You can fight with bow or close in with mele ( switching when appropriate )meanwhile your pet is involved too. You can constantly charm pets and swap them too.
Try the Ranger is my advice but eventually try them all. I play 4 characters depending on mood …. Ranger my main, Elementalist, Necro and Mesmer ( mesmer is quite different so try that later as well.

My level 43 Ranger has spent 20 points on Marksmanchip to get extra power plus two other side benefits ( can not recall what they were ). Another 10 + points were spent to obtain increased Critical hits plus another two benefits.
My question is do the extra power/crits both apply plus 4 benefits ?

Similarly my level 30 Ele spends points in fire and earth ….. do those benefits apply together or just when attuned to fire or earth.

Hope this makes sense.

I thought it was just me but here in Australia having excactly the same problems.
Hope this will be fixed soon as almost unplayable. GW2 will lose a lot of customers if they don’t fix it soon, no more extra characters for me and I will not be buying my wife her own GW2 account if it is not fixed.
Does anyone from GW2 read these forums as nothing seems to have been said ??

Just lately lag has become a real problem for me and running around in Lions Arch for example is not an option, no fun at all. Outside the cities it still is a problem but not as bad.
Sadly if it does not improve it will be bye bye GW2 for me.
Is this situation temporary or will it get worse ?

How do I switch the different skills the pet has ? E.G. I have a boar who has a skill to find weapons in an area but I prefer to use another skill he has . How do I change that skill to the one he will use ?

You say a lot for such a simple question, maybe that is why so few answers : keep it brief.
Just play the char you enjoy, I am like you and have 4 all around the level 20’s. Depends on my mood who I play but I enjoy them all ( except the Asara which to me was childish ).
Love the Norn and Sylvanian and like my Human Ranger too.
Crafting is great fun when you get the hang of it, and it takes a while. Each char can create for the other and get exp. too.
Just play what you enjoy, this is no right or wrong way as long as you have fun.

I am a Human in the Kessex Hills area south of the map and have 1 last SP to do.
Ther area is Meremoot Hill with lots of Earth Elementals around but when I arrive at the Skill Point area I can find nothing !!!! Other players are also looking.
Is this yet another Skill Point bug or does someone have a solution ?

It is on the centre of an island near Viathan Lake but when you approach it shows the point is below ( the arrow down ).
You would think it must be underground in a cave but try as I will I can not find any cave entrance. This has taken hours of my time and is soooooooooooooooo annoying.
Many other players are also looking and looking.
Does anyone know how to find this POI ?

I like to use the Greatsword, attack with a clone, attack at range with skill 1, pushback , Skill 3 when close again.

Must be a bug because he is not there, just the orange fist on the map.

Doing an early Sylvanian Skill Quest where I go over a bridge and have to fight Swift Arrow but nothing seems to happen.
Many other players are just standing around too so are we mising something ?

Ah, I was refering to the in game mails. Did not realize they sold goods in the normal manner, thought they just sold gold.

My question is if no one buys from these people why would they continue with this practice.
The simple solution is to ignore them and we won’t have this problem.
Personally I am not concerned too much about farming, I just enjoy the game. I have about 3 or 4 characters I alternate between depending on mood.

I am Norn on the Blasted Moors and trying to get to a vista in a tower … think it is called Moorwatch Tower.
Next to the tower is a Skill Point Quest which I have done.
It appears the vista is in the tower but how do you get into the tower ?
