The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

This seems to be at least partially a memory problem.

After playing for a few hours I ran a personal story mission that involved a mob of people moving off into the distance, and they would clip out VERY early. The game crashed hard, later in the scenario, and I restarted.

The second time through, everyone displayed as they should.

Camera Smoothing

I really don’t have any problems with the movement of the camera, but I do really have issues with some of its other behaviors.

Mostly the way I stop shooting at my current target, if I look in the other direction… that one has killed me more than once. I’m strafing and moving and dodging, taking full advantage of the awesome dynamic combat, and looking to make sure nothing ELSE is in the direction I’m going. And poof… I lose my target. Argh.

I also really hate the way dense foliage completely obscures MY view, when my CHARACTER could see clearly. The lack of fully first-person is a major issue here. A reasonable fix would be to make objects between the camera & the character semi-transparent.

And, of course, providing a fully first-person view.

Ranger pet runs ahead almost every time...

They seem to like to anticipate where you’ll be in a few moments. Not a bad way of handling it, but.. it can really get you in trouble.

I’d kinda like to see the different creatures have different behaviors – a default different location where they prefer to hang out, relative to you. Another one of those little details that Arena Net is so good at doing.

What is the funniest pet name you have used or seen?

My Hyena is usually named Sweetums, when I remember to re-name her.

I’m embarrassed to admit my wolf is usually called Lipstick.

I do wish the names wouldn’t revert to the default every time you swap in a different pet.

Why is my pet so SMALL??

I’d like to see pets scale slightly, according to their owner’s level.

Not a lot, but enough to be noticeable, if you had an 10 & an 80 standing close together.

Pets with no Names

It could at least change the default name to ‘tamed whatever’.

But it really strikes me as a bug. They save so much other information about a user, a few k of names seems pretty trivial.

Charr run animation

I love the fact that they run on all fours like that – it’s one of my favorite things about them.

If you don’t want a bestial run animation… don’t play a bestial race!

Longbow ranger.

I’m a bit disappointed in the longbow right now. It’s just not that much more powerful at long ranges, which is supposedly its strong point. And that ‘long range’ just isn’t very long.

However, I haven’t pursued the Marksman line very far, I should take a look at Piercing.

My Charr keeps screaming!

Yeah, after playing my other characters it seems especially obvious. The Charr seem terrified of falling even fairly short distances.

She’s still screaming, even after she’s hit the ground (with no damage) and is running along again in that magnificent quadrupedal stride.

Gryphon, absolutely.

Why shortbow

in Ranger

Stormdancer.4972

In theory, they longbow does substantially more damage at long range.

I’m not sure how well this actually holds up to practice.

I do love the knockback, and the rain-o-arrows can be devestating, especially when combined with Sharpening Stone. But honestly… it’s just not feeling like that powerful a weapon. I seem to be better off running up a few feet and spamming axes. Sad Charr Ranger Face.

My opinion: utility abilities lackluster

If I’m standing at longbow range, and I initiate combat by telling my pet to “Sic ’em!”… they sprint about halfway out, then stop, look confused, and come wandering back.

Not really what you’d expect to see, I think. At the very least they should continue on and actually … you know… sic ’em.

Pet name issue

Stormdancer.4972

Yeah, this is one of those chronic minor annoyances that I was pretty sure was a bug at first.

The circumstances under which the name reverts don’t seem terribly consistent.

I do hope they fix it eventually. It seems like an inconsequential amount of data compared to all the OTHER stuff they track about a user.

The female Charr town clothes… ugh. The front of the skirt sticks out a long way before draping down, and looks very odd from the side.

My opinion: the Black Citadel is so bad to explore.

I respectfully disagree. It’s actually much more coherent to me than most of the other starting cities.

I suppose it’s all about what works for you. I was constantly lost in the Norn city, for instance. And the Lion’s Arch is a nightmare.

HoM Pets

Nope, I have to agree that I’d prefer these remain GW1 exclusives.

If you’d like to get them in GW2… play GW1 until you get the HoM awards that allow them.

I say this as a GW1 player who isn’t even close to having those awards.

I would very much like to be able to tame griffins.

I’d also kinda like to see them renamed to gryphons. As I’ve always said – Griffon is a type of dog, Griffin is a person’s name, Gryphon is the mythical beast.
