When you play 15 minutes, DR kicks in and you stop getting loot.

when you play for more than 10 minutes and stop getting loot.

To your knowledge is their any diminishing returns in any part of sPvP (Glory, other rewards) the longer you play it?
If it doesn’t, does anyone know the reason that ANet chose to exclude this area of the game from DR?

The difference between this game and others comes down to how you set goals. In a lot of MMOs, the game establishes clear cut goals at end game – usually related to some ongoing cycle (what people refer to as the treadmill) of getting better and better gear.
What Ive found in GW2 is that there are no clear cut goals established by the game at end game. Instead, it is up to the player to define what they want from the game. For my first level 80, I set a few short term goals, including map completion, mastering all of the story mode dungeons, getting full exotic gear, etc – and longer term goals, including mastering (not just finishing) each and every explorable mode dungeon, getting three specific cultural weapons with Karma, working on a specific dungeon armor set and, eventually, creating a legendary weapon for myself.
As I finish these, I find myself setting additional goals – related to both PVE and PVP – such as helping guild mates get the dungeon set they want, dominating the jumping puzzles, etc.
On top of these things, I will often log on and decide I want to just have fun tackling dynamic events in a certain zone for a few hours. There is no real goal associated (except maybe earning Karma/skillpoints from post-80 leveling), but it is engaging and fun nonetheless.
There are merits to clearly defined end game path, such as those found in other games. There are also merits to a more open-ended system in which the player defines goals. It comes down to personal preference and what you expect from the game.
Coming from EVE online I have to say I disagree with you.
In this game you are punished for working towards specific goals you define with diminishing returns. In a game like EVE you are rewarded for working efficiently towards your goals. This game only encourages you to randomly login for 30 minutes and just mess around.

For the people saying it removes the competition:
Make things objective based instead of score based. Recquire that your server holds certain objectives to be able to run a certain dungeon or kill a certain world boss. Maybe there can be node farms you can farm from certain objectives being held long enough.
Use the score for matchmaking, but otherwise there is no need for it. The current score system / bonuses is too fundamentally flawed to work over long periods of time (2 weeks). It would work in a 30 minutes BG, but this is NOT a 30 minute BG.

OP you deserve a medal, you simply NAILED it.
For me an my guild we don’t care about some artificial scoreboard. What we do care about in order is:
1. Good fights.
2. Access to content because we hold a particular objective (exclusive dungeons, world areas, etc)
Scoreboard is artificial and forced and really has no place in open PvP.

For the people questioning how I am hitting diminishing returns and even flat out calling me a lier:
Get ~200% magic find. Why do I have 200% magic find do you ask? Well, when you want to do something well (in this case get rare items) you typically stack a stat to improve your performance in that area. If i want to support my group, i stack Boon Duration, Healing, etc. If I want to be a glass cannon, I stack power, prescsion, crit damage etc. Since I want more rare items, I stack magic find.
Go do any event in Orr, tag (do enough damage for them to drop loot) 100% of NPCs that spawn. Why do I tag 100% of them do you ask? Well, I thought the point is to kill them so they don’t take whatever objective is for the DE…. Should I hug them instead? Or should I single target them and be completely worthless to the rest of the people doing the DE?
Watch your loot start to dry up around 15 minutes and completely diminish in around 30 (even moving around never doing the same event twice)

SundialCare to enlighten us how you play GW2? Because the way I play it I stop getting kitten for loot after even just half an hour.
I bounce around a lot. I’m trying to get my 100%, so a lot of my time is spent slowly sweeping areas, doing DE’s and they come, filling hearts, finding vistas, doing ckill challenges… Like 1-80, except now I’m max level. Really, there’s no difference. I’ve seen zero effect on my drops. My bag still fills up as quick as ever.
So what will you do when you hit 100%?
Also, what if you at some point want a legendary weapon or new exotic set after that point?
WvW Captain – Horde of Miscreations, Borlis Pass Alliance
Dusk just curious how many achievement points and hours played do you have?
Just a question not baiting your or what not.
231 hours, 1030 points.
Im about the same, but I just dont see how you couldn’t have hit loot DR if you are a half competent player. Not saying you are not competent because clearly I don’t know how you play the game.

People here saying that “its fine” or “i have no problem with it” surely are the ones who either do it or never felt it in their own HP bars.
Stay out of designated PvP areas (sPvP, WvW) if you do not wish to PvP
Problem solved.

I can say for myself I most likely will not be around next month if I can’t even play the game for 15 minutes before I stop getting loot running around Orr/Frostgorge doing all kinds of different events. Also, its very frustrating that I stop getting badges in WvW after I kill many people in a short time.
Just from this quote I can see that this is not the game for you.
And doing all kinds of different events within 15 minutes is quite a feat by itself. Having that result in DR restrictions would be nothing short of miraculous. Surely you exaggerate…
It really is not that hard to circumvent the DR system as a real person. And why people think they should be able to grind themselves silly and get all the top gear within a matter of days in a game that has been advertised as game that isn’t for grinders for years…well, that’s just really baffling.
Again, if this post is serious I really think this isn’t the game for you. Not as a joke but for real.
Im in a social casual guild, it took me a month to hit 80, I change activities after about an hour so in other games.
How is the game not for me?

Please keep this thread troll / white knight free. I am just looking for an answer to this question for Arenanet from the players.

For me this game will be another FFXIV unless something is done soon. Most MMOs I quit early because they have terrible design. GW2 is one of the few games that has good design and I hate to see it run into the ground by this draconian system that punishes real players more than bots.

Yes, I have noticed many times when using siege equipment that after I kill enough people in a short enough time I completely stop getting bags.

Not trying to rain on your parade but that also means your character has mediocre stats and isn’t specialized in anyway.. Especially considering how certain abilities perform much much better when you heavily stack certain stats, it’s setting yourself up to be the jack of no trades.
I disagree. I already stack my main stats with my accessories and weapons. As a necro who does WvW alot I need to be able to fight in many different situations. I personally find the mixed stats on the base set helpful (although the runes from my set are specifically tailored towards my builds main stats)
Necros strength in WvW IS being a jack of all trades IMO.
WvW Captain – Horde of Miscreations, Borlis Pass Alliance
The solution isn’t making everyone the same.
In doing that you lose diversity. Guardians are able to active tank much better because their heals are more effective since they have high amounts of armor.
Necros have very low base toughness but have a large HP pool. Unless you get them a good amount of toughness / defense you wont be able to sustain yourself as well off of heals.
Condition damage is better vs people with high toughness, other damage is better against people with high vitality.
Don’t make everyone the same, it removes depth from the game.

“Cultural and Flame Legion armor would like to have a word with you, Xokks.”
The only good looking light cultural armor is T1. The rest look like complete and utter kitten
WvW Captain – Horde of Miscreations, Borlis Pass Alliance
Char T1 Light Cultural Armor with Ebon Vanguard Staff
WvW Captain – Horde of Miscreations, Borlis Pass Alliance
Try the tier 3 cultural armor with black dye.
I found the T3 cultural armor is the worst, with T2 barely better.
The T1 cultural armor is by far the best for black.

I know it sucks to lose all that influence. But you should be able to start over and slowly get enough influence.
Btw if you’re planning to PvE, you’re gonna have a hard time unless more transfer. You can always guest yourself on another server for PvE if you prefer.
Guesting is not ingame yet.
WvW Captain – Horde of Miscreations, Borlis Pass Alliance
We would immediately transfer if we kept our influence.
WvW Captain – Horde of Miscreations, Borlis Pass Alliance
We could keep our upgrades/influence/guild bank intact.
We are not a 100% WvW guild so we also have to consider the needs of our PvE players as well as crafters.
This is the literally the only thing stopping us from joining the underdogs at Kainening or Devonas Rest. They have no queues, plenty of targets, and from what I can tell they are much more active in organizing their server and working between guilds even if they don’t have the numbers.
Please Arenanet, help fix WvW server population by allowing us to do this.
WvW Captain – Horde of Miscreations, Borlis Pass Alliance
I love tanking unogranized blobs in WvW, being able to push in for kills and escape unscathed.
The versitility of necromancer is amazing with a dagger / staff combo. I can switch my combat style on the fly.
Death shroud is scary when used correctly. Even though the fear is short there is ALOT you can do with it.
Wells and their traits are plain scary when used correctly.
All around I wouldn’t want to be any other class.
WvW Captain – Horde of Miscreations, Borlis Pass Alliance
OP If you don’t see how they are useful you have yet to explore a couple extremely effective necro builds.
Too squishey? Is this a joke? We are one of the most tanky classes in the entire game…
WvW Captain – Horde of Miscreations, Borlis Pass Alliance
Leave Necro as is and fix the 100+ bugs that plague us.
Only then will we be able to see if it actually needs work.
WvW Captain – Horde of Miscreations, Borlis Pass Alliance
80 Necromancer, 9/10
Would be 10/10 if it wern’t for the bugs that plague Necro currently.
WvW Captain – Horde of Miscreations, Borlis Pass Alliance
With all these cooldowns to encourage us to do different stuff you would think that it would make sense to do other stuff. But if you are teleporting 2 times an hour thats close to 5s an hour just to play the game as Arenanet intends!
Thats the main problem I have with it…
WvW Captain – Horde of Miscreations, Borlis Pass Alliance
Just some constructive feedback about the amount of boosters and their duration.
Since GW2 has anti farming code that tends to kick in at about 30 minutes or so of doing events it would be great to have boosters with shorter duration.
Currently I feel like I am wasting 1/2 of my magic booster as I can’t get any loot on Orr after 30 minutes. Same goes for Karma boosters. If the loot stops dropping the only rewards I get is karma / around 2 silver. I take a break at this point and come back to the game but my magic booster is not still with me after my loot cooldown ends.
To solve this problem give 2x the amount of boosters with 1/2 the duration so we don’t waste our money (I know you love my money Anet!)
Just my two cents.
